Essay On Dante s Inferno
See no Evil. Hear no Evil. Do no Evil.
Trapped up to his waist in ice, Dante s Satan with his warped wings pushes freezing gusts of air
throughout the caverns of the ninth circle of hell. With him, the worst of all sinners are warped into
fantastical shapes while encased in the frigid ice. They are the betrayers of love, the godly ideal of
voluntary benefaction, and now must spend eternity without warmth or light. Nothing is felt; by being
a traitor to their state or their benefactor, they have lost their right to God s love, condemned in the
center of the Earth.
I admire Satan in this situation the rejected angel thrown deep into Hell because of his power over his
realm. His wings freeze the ice and trap both him and the sinners within it, and his heads, a warped
holy trinity, continually chew on the three apparently worst humans in history: Judas, Cassius, and
Brutus. Thrust into this duty of penultimate torturer, Satan delivers the worst treatment of all of the
sins because he too is deserving of it. The power of reciprocal judgment would be the greatest way to
force me to become a perfect human. With this, I would be willing to give up my sense of touch, as
those surrounding Satan must also do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A mispronounced word. An awkward glance. Every day I both consciously and unconsciously judge
the people around me through their appearance and actions. The criticism I place on them is fleeting

The Democratic Accountability Of The European Union Essay
In this assignment I will be assessing the democratic accountability of the European Union. I will
begin by briefly describing the institutions, their functions, compositions and discuss how they work
as check and balance system to ensure democratic accountability further to look on to how laws are
made and what they are In order to establish whether or not the EU is in fact answerable to its citizens.
The 4 main institutions in the EU are; The EU parliament, the Council of Ministers, the European
council and the Commission.
The Commission is an independent body. Its powers are found in Article 17 on the Treaty on the
European Union. Each member state has 1 commissioner; this was a consequence of the Lisbon
Treaty.
The president of the commission allocates each commissioner with a portfolio that oversees areas such
as fisheries, environment, and trade. General Commissioners are suggested by member states and
elected by president elect from the Council and parliament. Commission president is nominated by
qualified majority vote of the European council, and is then elected by the European Parliament by
majority vote if this candidate doesn t get the required amount of majority votes the council will
propose another within four weeks.
It could be argued that there is too much discretion in the powers of the president in that he/she can
literally decide which commissioner gets which portfolio this could be out of personal preference.
The Commission is sometimes referred to

A Study On Prevention And Treatment Of A Platelet...
Diagnosing prothrombotic diseases early and preventing its complications are significantly essential.
Therefore, this study sought to investigate whether MPV contain diagnostic value that can prompt it to
be utilized as a platelet activation marker and as marker of evidence of thrombotic risk. Platelet
activation is widely acknowledged to be an indicator of likely prothrombotic diseases. Platelet size,
measured as MPV, has been shown to be an indicator of platelet function and is positively linked to
platelet activity indicators (Tsiara et al., 2003). The correlation between platelet size and function can
be attributed to the larger platelets that activated megakaryocyte produce in the bone marrow likely to
be more reactive and easier to aggregate than the normal platelets. Such is because the larger platelets
secret more Ξ² thromboglobulin and serotonin, have denser granules, generate more thromboxane in
comparison to the smaller platelets while also showing more activity than the smaller platelets
(Dastjerdi et al., 2006). Therefore, the hyperactive large platelets contribute considerably in speeding
the formation and spread of intracoronary thrombus. This causes acute thrombotic events to occur
(Smith et al., 1999). Increased MPV levels are exhibited to constitute an independent predictor for
recurrent MI, ischemic vascular events or even death caused by coronary artery disease (Wang et al.,
2011; Chu et al., 2010; Huczek et al., 2005). Dogan et al. (2012) linked MPV

William Shakespeare s Othello And Racial Interactions...
New York City is the biggest, most international, multi racial and cultural difference city in the world.
It is common for the New Yorkers to interact with people visiting from all over the world. The racial
differences seem not to matter to anyone in New York. The book Othello show similarities to racial
interactions with the ones from New York City. However, looking closer at the play, Othello , seem to
show us many interesting aspects of cultural differences. It seems that not only, racial and cultural
differences were unconventional, but also unnatural .
As an illustration, within first act of Othello , Roderigo and Iago encounter Brabanito and make many
_not nice__ remarks towards the relationship between Brabanito s daughter and Othello. Iago says (...)
an old black ram is tupping your white ewe. (P.30), suggesting that the black ram is Othello, and the
white ewe is Desdemona. The first aspect of that quote is that a black ram, meaning black person
(Othello) shouldn t be tapping, meaning reproduce (having sex) with a white ewe, a white person
(Desdemona). Iago suggests that Othello s relationship is not only unconventional to the society in
those times, but also unnatural . Iago tries to explain that Othello s and Desdemona s relationship in
unnatural because, as he states in the previous citation, a black ram and a white ewe shouldn t be
interacting with each other. Another supportive line that Iago used to underline the racial difference,

Pressure ulcer prevention (PUP) in surgical patients has become a major interest in acute care
hospitals with the increased focus on patient safety and quality of care. A pressure ulcer is any area of
skin or underlying tissue that has been damaged by unrelieved pressure or pressure in combination
with friction and shear. Pressure ulcers are caused due to diminished blood supply which in turn leads
to decreased oxygen and nutrient delivery to the affected tissues (Tschannen, Bates, Talsma, amp;Guo,
2012). Pressure ulcers can cause extreme discomfort and often lead to serious, life threatening
infections, which substantially increase the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The vulnerable bony areas prone to pressure ulcer are back, heels, hip, spine, elbows, shoulders and
back of head. Studies have proved that total operating time and overall number of surgical procedures
are significant predictors of pressure ulcers. A research conducted by Lindgren et al found that 14.3 %
of surgical patients acquired a pressure ulcer during the time from surgery to twelve weeks after
surgery. For every thirty minutes the surgery went beyond four hours, the risk for a pressure ulcer
increased by approximately thirty three percent.
As we are all aware that there is no reimbursement for a hospital acquired pressure ulcer and the cost
for each pressure ulcer has to be absorbed by the facility. A patient s development of a pressure ulcer
while under the care of health care provider or facility is viewed as grounds of a professional liability
law suit. The mere existence of pressure ulcer is often viewed as a physical evidence of medical
negligence. The cost to treat pressure ulcers are expensive, the United Sates (US) health care system
spends more than one billion dollars annually to treat pressure ulcers. It has been estimated that the
cost of treating pressure ulcers is 2.5 times the cost of preventing them (Whitehead amp;Trueman,
2010). In order to reduce the strain on hospital budgets caused by pressure ulcers, we need to
implement a planned approach to PUP and

The Impact Of Jane Addams And Civil Rights
Civil rights demonstrates that all people, no matter what race, religion, color or class, are equal and
have equal rights. Although the civil rights time period is a subject that is not talked about much today,
it was years ago when there was a lot of segregation and discrimination. There were many African
Americans who made a difference in their fight for civil rights, but not many white people tried to
make that same difference. Jane Addams was one of the few white people who made this effort; she
had an even bigger impact on civil rights since she was female and wealthy, along with her skin color.
Jane Addams got involved in promoting civil rights because she grew up around many sophisticated
adults that also supported it. In fact, her own father was Addams greatest influence and she grew up
only knowing what he taught her. When she was just a little girl, her father told her that, ...it was
important for those who have enough to help those who do not. (Ray, 8). This quote shaped Addams
whole life since it was based off of helping people who weren t as lucky as her and promoting rights
for all people. Another time when Addams was just a little girl, her family helped African Americans
escape from slavery using the Underground Railroad. This was one of the first times she had seen how
African Americans were treated by most of the American population, and how dreadful their ... Show

Personalizaton through Searches on Google and Facebook is...
Worldwide there is an underlying issue within search engines and social media. This issue is becoming
evident as the number of people retrieving their news through Google and Facebook increases.
Personalisation through searches is evolving to only show the consumer what they want to see not
what they need to see. Online Organiser and Author of The Filter Bubble , Eli Pariser argues in his
TED Talk about the unreliability of not being exposed to information that could broaden our
worldwide view and possibly resolve pivotal democratic issues. This cycle of trying to consistently
please the users is becoming evident within search organisations and has evolved with technology as
algorithmic filters were introduced having an unbalanced and unethical filter. This invisible filter is
now generating a personal unique universe of information (Pariser, 2011), for every individual user,
enforcing the inability to have a functioning democracy because of the public not receiving accurate
and most importantly balanced information. The Filter Bubble s motive is to create a personalised
environment online through the search engine, by getting to know the source of sites it thinks it s
consumer is interested in. The filter then only provides their subject with specific relevant
information. The continuous flow of information being shown on google and Facebook revolves
around the commonly visited sites rather than things that benefit the users worldwide view and get
them thinking (Eli

As The Advent Of The Eighteenth Century Had Came Into...
As the advent of the eighteenth century had came into reality, profound developments in the realm of
the arts began to take hold. Romanticism, as the era was known, shifted the focus from rational
viewpoints to a feel of expressing ...freedom and revolution in their art and politics (Poets). In effect,
individuality began to take root in writing, an ideal not employed during the reign of Classicalism.
William Wordsworth, one of the numerous promulgators of this era, had set the stage, writing over the
complexity and nature of the world around him. One the most notable poems of Wordsworth are
London, 1802 , which describes the decadence of Great Britain from his point of view, with notable

As a matter of personal opinion, this poem seems peculiar with its prophetic undertones. To explain, a
social divide like the one that is depicted by Wordsworth has been taking place in the United
Kingdom. Brexit , a referendum to leave the European Union that passed during the summer of 2016,
mimics the nationalistic fervor that is exhibited in the poem, especially in phrasing such as ...raise us
up, return to us again... (Meyer 703). In addition, one can infer that since older generations of voters
swayed the decision, they too have a longing for a revived golden age, much like the plea that
Wordsworth has towards the likes of John Milton, who was before Wordsworth time. Of course, this
notable poem could not only be directed to the United Kingdom, but across the world as well. Across
the many systems of governments, an ideological shift towards the right on the political spectrum has
offered growth in terms of their own nation being the first of concern, and the rest of the world
second. Such a shift tries to revive the golden age that Wordsworth has longed desired. In essence, the
poem exhibits a striking resemblance to the world s current ideological shift.
William Wordsworth, living from 1770 1850, was renowned in his establishment of Romanticism,
with most of his works being shaped by his experiences. Having commenced his education at
Hawkshead Grammar School in 1779, he found his love for poetry while discovering how to express
his delight

The Importance Of Senioritis In Long Beach Colleges
As a program coordinator for the Southern California College Advising Corps (SCCAC), a college
access program that missions itself on improving college outcomes for low income, first generation,
and underrepresented students, one of the biggest hurdles I have seen through my staff members has
been combatting motivation levels during the second semester of a high school student s senior year.
Overseeing the Long Beach district, every single one of the SCCAC advisors has experienced this
phenomenon, especially during the spring semester. For most students at the Long Beach high schools,
they gain a sense of senioritis after having completed their college and financial aid applications.
Though the term is not talked in much detail in academic research, senioritis is a term the advisors
have been hearing from their students more frequently. Senioritis is simply the lack of motivation or
performance that high school seniors face as it gets closer to their possible graduation, (Merriam
Webster s collegiate dictionary, 2017). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Kaplan (2013), students motivation levels are easily influenced through extrinsic forces
in schools. Such forces can be attributed to simple events such as prom and graduate night. It is
imperative to think of various solutions to this motivational issue because students who are planning
on attending a four year postsecondary institution might be at risk on losing their admission.
Furthermore, losing their admission at this stage can signify no other option than attending a
community college. It is important to note that though there are plenty of benefits in attending a
community college this paper will focus only on students who plan on attending a four year

Irony In Because I Could Not Stop For Death
Emily Dickinson was a nineteenth century American poet who was noted for her eloquent, concise,
and deceptively simple verses (Merriam Webster s Encyclopedia of Literature). Dickinson possessed a
unique writing style unlike any other due to her use of short stanzas, partial rhyme, random
capitalization, punctuation, and her use of irony. Emily Dickinson utilized her unique writing style to
display her knowledge and emotion of death.
In Emily Dickinson s Because I could not stop for Death, the narrator describes an experience that
occurred involving a journey with death. The poem begins with the narrator painting a visual image of

The research team s question is why the student voter turnout is so low, and what can be done to
improve turnout among students. With this research question, the team wants to find out how involved
students are in the voting process while also determining the specific causes that are deterring or
moving students away from voting. The research team has determined that the low voter turnout
among students is an issue because this voting age is such a large group that it is now rivaling with the
Baby Boomers. However, even though that both groups are almost the same size, the Baby Boomers,
have a much higher voter turnout than Millennials (students). In the 2016 presidential election, the

Large Pools Of Large Size Corporation
Presence of big data is a very common phenomenon now days, specially when talking about medium
to large size corporation. Manyika et al., in their article (James Manyika, 2011) defined the term big
data as large pools of data that can be captured, communicated, aggregated, stored, and analyzed . To
clarify they suggested that big data refers to data, whose size makes it impossible to be processed by
the typical software used for database management. Gartner (Gartner, 2012)defined big data in terms
of its characteristics of high volume, high velocity and high variety. By volume, he referred to the size

Problems With Battling Malware Have Been Discussed, Moving...
Now that issues with battling malware have been discussed, moving to solutions is the next step.
Utilizing deobfuscation, especially through signature analysis, has already been discussed to its fullest
potential. New methods include CPU analyzers, holograpy, eigenvirus detection, differential fault
analysis, the growing grapes method, and whitelist protection. These are more general approaches and
therefore do not rely on storing certain specific characteristics of the code of malware and tend to
analyze behavior. Due to the extreme focus on deobfuscation, these ideas have only been explored
fairly recently and are currently underdeveloped. As was stated in the previous section, CPU analyzers
are a possible valid method of detecting malware. While it can be unreliable alone, O Kane et al.
believe it can be a good preliminary detection method for metamorphic malware due to high CPU
processing times (2011). The main issue is valid processes may trigger a warning with this type of
detection. This is why it must be paired with another detection method. A newer study examines a type
of anti malware called holography. Dai, Fyodor, Wu Huang, and Kuo, researchers at the National
Taiwan University and the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation in Taipei, state
that holography utilizes CPU analysis and memory instructions in order to analyze malware and detect
infections (2012). However, this method is, in general, more useful currently as an analysis method

The Failure Of The Reconstruction Era
In 1865 1877, Reconstruction was the federal governments pursuit to untangle the problems resulting

accomplishments. It failed simply because the Congress did not protect blacks from the Ku Klux Klan,
the black codes limited blacks from mostly everything, and the Compromise of 1877 removed troops
causing blacks to suffer. Although the Confederates had lost the war, they feared that life would be

What I Know About Islam Essay
During the 11 years that I lived in India, I had two Christian friends. I never asked them what kind of
Christians they were as I was unaware of the existence of the different sects of Christianity. I am sure
they did not know either as we were too young. I am familiar with Christianity and Sikhism as I grew
up around people who followed these religions. The city that I grew up in had and still has a large
Muslim population; however, I never got a chance to learn anything about Islam. This was partly due
to the high tensions between Muslims and Hindus. I recall an incident that occurred in India during
my childhood years. I must have been 7 or 8, when riots broke out between Muslims and Hindus after
the burning of Godhra Train in the state of Gujarat. I remember hiding in a tiny room that we had on
the rooftop, where most of the women and children from my neighborhood came to hide while the
men were preparing to fight the Muslim rioters. Thank God nothing happened that night and the
information received was incorrect. Although, my views on Islam has changed as I grew older and
learned more about Islam; initially, this incident left me with a negative impression about Islam. As I
grew older, I realized that I was at fault for generalizing, not all Muslims are bad and this incident
certainly does not make Islam a violent religion. Therefore, when I was provided with the opportunity
to do immersion on other religions than my own, I chose Islam to gain deeper understanding and

Analysis Of Perfection Wasted By John Updike
What We Lose Through Death of Others
An Explication of John Updike s Perfection Wasted
This poem dramatizes the conflict between losing someone s personality through death and the magic
within our own separate worlds. In the poem personality is the most important part of life because it
cannot be replicated by any person in the world because every person s personality is different and
unique in its own way. The personality that is shown in the poem is that the speaker is happy and full
of magic. John Updike uses this poem to tell a story through mostly imagery. The impression I
received throughout the entire poem is the cycle of life.
The author of this poem, John Updike was born on March 18, 1932 and died on January 27, 2009. He
was influenced by several different people such as: William Shakespeare, James Joyce, Marcel Proust,
John Barth, and many other people. One of his famous quotes that I like is [d]reams come true;
without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them. John Updike wrote many different
things. He wrote short stories, poems, and novels. John Updike s inspiration came from all over. All of
the people that inspired him came from different places.
The main theme in this poem is that one s ways or personality cannot be remade by someone. People
can imitate what a person does or how a person acts, but they will never be able to replicate it one
hundred percent. The speaker in this poem talks about how when someone dies their personality will
be lost forever because it cannot be reperformed by someone else, not even their closest friends or
family members. Imitators and descendants aren t the same. (Line 14) A person can be near someone
for twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks in a year and still not be them exactly.
When someone dies, there will be glimpses of them in others that they have touched through their
actions, but they will never fully see them in just one single person. They work on making the most
perfect personality for themselves throughout their entire life just to see that when they die it dies with
them. When someone works this hard on something they do not want it to end. They make people
happy by using it, they help people by using

The Stereotypes Of `` Stuff Asian People Like `` And The...
Asians are typically loud especially when we are on the phone because we do not take insights of our
surroundings. This is one of the biggest stereotypes about Asians out there. According to a 2008 online
article called Stuff Asian People Like written by Peter; states that Asians tend to be loud due to
adversity. We were compared to the Anglo Saxon legend of Beowulf. Asians are actually peaceful
looking creatures who are soon to be evolved into creatures of such legends like Beowulf . According
to Peter, we are compared to Beowulf because when Asians tend to talk loudly, it is as if we are
screaming at the top of our lungs while trying to kill someone as Beowulf; a barbaric warrior would
do. Peter also states that Asians tend to speak out loud due to the fact that we are stressed out in life.
Peter is really basing this stereotype off of some kung fu movie, because we all know it is true that
when someone like Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee starts fighting, they tend to pull out some loud grunts.
Also the article states that we speak loudly because we are not able to express our opinions due to
communism laying a barrier on our world and once we hit America, we are loud due to that barrier
being lifted. What a big load of lies. I say it is a lie because I used to visit my country of Vietnam back
then, and Vietnam is a huge communist country, yet I have seen many people especially other ethnic
Asians visiting the country talking extremely loud. Voicing opinions are one thing,

Aggravated Assault As An Unlawful Attack
Aggravated Assault The FBI UCR website defines aggravated assault as an unlawful attack by one
person upon another for the purpose of inflicting severe or aggravated bodily injury (FBI: July 2013).
It goes on to describe it as any type of assault accompanied by use of a weapon (FBI: July 2013).
Aggravated assault has decreased since 1993 from a rate of 440.5/100,000 people to a rate of
242.3/100,000 people in 2012 (FBI: Crime in US 2012). The Bureau of Justice Statistics defines

Effects Of Alcohol On Body And How It Affects People Essay
Chapter Six discusses the effects that alcohol has on the body and how it affects people. The amounts
of death by drinking and driving have started educational efforts such as MADD (Mothers Against
Drunk Driving). Physically alcohol makes significant damage to the human body. It damages nerves
in the body creating permanent damage. The liver stops working because it becomes hard, called
cirrhosis. The blood cannot go through and has to go through other avenues in the body causing
stomach distension and bloating. The heart cannot work as well and therefore there is fluid built up in
the legs and abdomen. Brain damage is caused by the loss of vitamins, creating memory loss. Bill W.
created Alcoholics Anonymous to help other alcoholics in a Christian way. He used the five C s that he
learned from Rev. Sam Shoemaker. The five C s are Confidence, Confession, Conviction, Conversion
and Continuance. Rev. Sam made clear that if you leave God out of anything that you need to do, you
add pride to whatever other sins you are committing. Psalms 23: 19 21, describes how alcohol may
look piece and pretty at first, but it bites and leads to pain and hallucinations. Chapter seven discusses
smoking. Lung cancer today is the number one cancer killer. One in four cancer deaths. It was not
until the 1950 s until doctors discovered that it was the smoking that was killing so many people.

The Current State Of Health Care System Essay
Introduction The current state of United States health care system is one of the most polarizing
subjects of debate among scholars and other health care professionals across the globe. This can be
attributed to the fact that at one extreme end, there are some who argue that that Americans have the
best system of health care in the world (MePhee, 2013). Perhaps the availability of the state of the art
facilities and free medical technology that have become highly symbolic of the various industries in
the United States have motivated the idea of the country s health care system being unparalleled to
others. However, there is a common belief that the fight for universal health care can only be
successful if its current state of health care is described as a failure in the modern era as emphasized
by MePhee (2013). As a matter of fact Wise and Yashiro, 2006 assert that there some individuals who
describe the America s system as being fragmented and inefficient, considering the staggering
statistics regarding how Americans spend more on health care compared to other countries in the
world. Additionally, they suffer from massive insurance costs and uneven quality of care, and thus
understanding the debate about the two diametrically opposed viewpoints requires an in depth
understanding of the current health care issues in the United States (Rashidian, Joudaki, Vian,
Baradaran, 2012). Essentially, this paper will identify one common health care issue, particularly

Analysis Of The Circumplex Model In On Golden Pond
The Circumplex Model: Adaptability and Flexibility Throughout On Golden Pond, it is apparent that
Chelsea, Norman, and Ethel are rigidly enmeshed. According to Olson s circumplex model, rigidly
enmeshed families have authoritarian leadership, strict discipline, roles rarely change, there is too little
change. Additionally, enmeshment in families is illustrated by very high closeness, very high loyalty,
high dependency, and a lack of individuality (Sanders Bell, 2011). Although Chelsea is distant with
her family in the number of visits it is an artificial distance of time and space. They are strongly
emotionally entangled as demonstrated through the ability of the family to emotionally affect one and
other. Slightly like the characters in On Golden Pond, the family in Stepmom appear to be chaotically
enmeshed. The circumplex model claims families who are chaotic present with a lack of leadership,
erratic discipline, dramatic role shifts, and too much change (Sanders Bell, 2011). Chaos is present in
the structure of the two living environments of the children: one environment is structured and the
other one is disorderly. This leads to confusion for the children because the system lacks consistency.
Enmeshment is personified through the children s emotional fusion with their mother. When Jackie is
upset with Isabel, the children are upset with Isabel. The children and the mother s emotions are
intertwined. On the other hand, Rita slightly contrasts the two families above as she appears to be
rigidly disengaged instead of enmeshed. Rita and Denny are not intimately close. This is illustrated as
Rita responds to a question by saying, loyalty? I [have] you know, I [have] tried to explain it to my
husband ... I think he [is] thick (Gilbert, 1983). Rita s family lacks the flexibility to change. People get
married and have kids. There is no self exploration, enlightenment, and adaptability is absent. The
Concrete Content and Abstract Process Norman characterized several content and process issues
throughout On Golden Pond. The first part of the movie exposes Norman s fixation on his age and
pending death. From his confrontation with the kids, while refueling his boat to his efforts about

The First Nations On The Proposed Windy Energy Project
Introduction
In this report I will outline my recommendation on how to approach the Metlakatla First Nations on
the proposed Windy Energy Project. Through my research I believe a promising opportunity is present
in pursuing business negotiations with this community. With our mutual goals of providing sustainable
project developments I believe the Metlakatla community will make strong business partners. In order
to establish a respectful and welcoming negotiation process, Windy Power must strongly understand
their values, cultural sensitivities and organizational structure.
Background Information
The Metlakatla First Nation is based on the north coast of British Columbia, north of Prince Rupert.
The community is quite small and remote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As indicated in appendix A, the Metlakatla territory spans roughly 20,000 square kilometers including
twenty one reserves, ten of which are Metlakatla only (Leighton, 2012). The Metlakatla traditional
language is Sm algyax, but due to the close proximity to Prince Rupert and an aging elder population
very few members fluently speak the language (Metlakatla Governing Council, 2015). Thus there are
no significant language barriers that would be of concern when communicating with the community.
Metlakatla is a signatory to a number of agreements including (Treaty, n.d.): Ongoing: Treaty
Negotiations, Marine use Planning Dec 10, 2009: Reconciliation Protocol: Official recognition of
Metlakatla s Aboriginal Rights and Title
Oct 18, 2007: Protected Area Collaborative Management Agreement
June 07, 2006: Strategic Land Use Planning Agreement
2006: Land and Resource Protocol Agreement
Currently the Metlakatla First Nations are at Stage 4 in negotiating a treaty intended to provide use
and management of land and resources, set out First Nations self government, and create viable First
Nations economies (Treaty, n.d.). The outcome of the treaty process will strongly influence the
viability of the project and should be followed closely for any changes that should be made in the
assessment process.

One deity, often pictured darker or more menacing, is assigned the job of presiding over death. Some
polytheistic religions have a departmental deity of death. They make death seem as if it is an amazing
journey, but they do not glorify the points of death or dying. In monotheistic religion, one god governs
life and death. When a monotheistic is in practice, this seems to manifest in different rituals and
traditions. These rituals and traditions vary depending on geographical location, local politics, main
traditions, and the influences of other religions.
One of the many polytheistic religions is that of Babylonian Mythology. They have Freshkigal, the
first lady of the underworld. They also include Nergal as the second lord of the underworld. Another
polytheistic religion is Aztec Mythology. Their lord of the underworld is called Mictlantecuhtli, while
their queen of the underworld is called Mictecacihuatl. In Egyptian Mythology, they not only have

Abstract
The Fourier Series, the founding principle behind the field of Fourier Analysis, is an infinite expansion
of a function in terms of sines and cosines. In physics and engineering, expanding functions in terms of
sines and cosines is useful because it allows one to more easily manipulate functions. In particular, the
fields of electronics, quantum mechanics, and electrodynamics all make heavy use of the Fourier
series. Key words: Fourier Transform, Discrete Fourier Transform, Convolution Transforms

Lincoln In The Bardo
The novel Lincoln in The Bardo by George Saunders is labeled as a work of historical fiction on its

Lincoln is only one of the main characters the focus is on the importance for both him and his father to
move on from the tragedy of William s death. Biographical novels use historical figures to tell a truth
about society today and in some cases (usually children and teen forms) emotional truth. In Lincoln in
The Bardo the main focus of the novel is the idea of moving on from tragedy. In the end of the novel
there is also a small amount of focus on the idea of understanding another person and what they have

President Lincoln did go to William s grave to grieve, but we do not have the proof of him holding
William. In chapter XX of Lincoln in The Bardo President Lincoln is told to have held William s body
for almost ten minutes by the three main narrators Hans Vollman, Roger Bevins III, and the Reverend
Everly Thomas (58 Saunders). And this is what the novel is about. Learning to work through one s
grief by letting go and finding better ways to cope. In the novel William is stuck in the bardo, which is
defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as the intermediate or astral state of the soul after death
and before rebirth a sort of ghostly limbo. Hans Vollman and Roger Bevins III are also going through
heavy denial about their deaths, which keeps them from moving on as well. They have been dead long
enough and have convinced each other of the fact that they are just sick in their sick boxes. It is in
William Lincoln though that we really see how good it is for these characters to move on. William in
trying to stay in the graveyard in this bardo state, declines in spirit health. On page 195 the Reverend
Everly Thomas describes William in this manner as real as the fading, webbed boy breathing
shallowly at my feet, banded down snugly across his chest like a captive of the wild Indians. The
reader had been warned at the beginning of the novel at how terrible it is for children to stay in the
bardo for long. William is choosing to stay stuck in this place of limbo because he not only does not
understand where he is, but his father also told William s remains that they would be back. The other
spirits know that for children it is better for them to move on to the unknown and try to encourage him
to it. William was almost convinced to move on until President Lincoln visited his body and held it.

The Effects of Enzyme and Substrate Concentrations in Various Factors
Abstract:
The entirety of this performed lab experiment is to test the effects of enzyme and substrate
concentrations in varying factors such as reaction rate, temperature, and the inhibitor hydroxlamine.
What was first tested was the effect of substrate and enzyme concentration on reaction rate in which
the effects were tested with three concentrations of both enzyme and substrate (low, medium, and
high). After properly setting up the spectrophotometer in addition to calibration and adding chemicals
into the control, enzyme and substrate, one should mix all three concentrations of low, medium, and ...

Factors include temperature, pH, inhibitors and activators all of which will be tested and observed for
in this lab. The rate of enzyme catalyzed is affected by concentrations of both substrate and enzyme.
Increasing the temperature on a reaction increases its molecular movement. The rate of an enzyme
catalyzed reaction increases with temperatures but only up until the point of optimum temperature the
highest point before the eventual decline. Below the optimum temperature, the hydrogen bonds and
hydrophobic interactions that make the enzyme its given shape can no longer be supported by its
flexibility. High temperatures cause enzymes to denature to lose its three dimensional figure. The
denaturation of enzymes plays a huge role in this lab s absorbance derived from the results. Inhibitors
also play a vital role in what affects enzyme functions done in Lab Weeks 4 and 5. When a substrate
that binds to an enzyme and the activity decreases, it is called an inhibitor. In our lab, our enzyme
inhibitor is hydroxylamine. Based on the results in a brief statement, the absorbance rate decreases.
These results will be delved into deeper analysis further in the

Case Study Of Steven M. Labrie s Vacation For Attorneys
RESPONDENT TEAMSTERS LOCAL 251 OBJECTION TO PETITION FOR ATTORNEYS FEES
This matter is before the Court on a Petition Steven M. Labrie for attorney s fees associated with his
appeal from a decision from the Department of Labor and Training [ DLT ]. For the reasons set forth
below, Labrie is not entitled to attorney s fees for services rendered on appeal. Alternatively, in the
event that attorney s fees are allowable, they are within the jurisdiction of the Director of the
Department of Labor and Training rather than the Superior Court. 1. On October 1, 2015, the DLT
determined that Labrie was entitled to vacation pay for 2013, but not for vacation pay for 2008
through 2012. Labrie appealed pursuant to G.L. Β§42 35 15, the Administrative Procedures Act. 2. On
January 12, 2017, this Court reversed pertinent portions of the DLT decision. 3. ... Show more content

Labrie s reliance on G.L. Β§28 14 19(c) for an award of further attorney s fees is without merit. That
section specifically provides that the DLT director may direct payment of reasonable attorney s fees
and costs to the complaining party. Thus, an award of attorney s fees is discretionary within the
jurisdiction of the DLT, rather than this court. 4. The Administrative Procedures Act, G.L. Β§42 35 15,
on which Labrie relied on in connection with his appeal, contains no provision for an award of
attorney s fees to a prevailing party. In addition, Rhode Island follows the American rule which bars
an award of attorney s fees in the absence of statutory authority. As the Supreme court noted in Blue
Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island v. Najarian, attorney s fees may not be appropriately awarded to
the prevailing party absent contractual or statutory authorization. 911 A.2nd 706, 710

There is a strong connection between the senses and the formation of our perception. Traditionally, the
sense categories are known as sight, smell, sound, taste and touch. The modern perspective views the
senses as systems in which information about our external world is acquired; visual, auditory,

the art of nourishing these senses. In order to receive information from the environment, each sense

We need only a little amount of molecules of substance to trigger an impulse of smell in a nerve end,
and we can smell more than ten thousand different scents. If it is a new scent it is possible to
remember the scent and identify it again later. The scent captures one s memory of the place; the nose
makes the eyes remember. For the blind people, the sense of smell can help awareness of one s
location. Odour can also relate to hunger and the desire to consume. Since it is not possible to name all
the odours, spatial qualities or experiences are often associated with scents. Positive experiences of
smell can be used in design to induce positive memories or associations to a space, while negative
smells can do the opposite. Bringing certain smells into a designed space can immediately stimulate
emotions, guide us, or distract us. Designer Valerie Trent cites research that connects smell and
memory; People can often recall aromas from childhood or a distinctive odor they ve only smelled
once. Whatever your particular nose prefers, smells do enhance comfort and

Essay on Parking at BSU, Possible or Not
Parking at BSU, Possible or Not With the diversity of students that attend the University, there are a
variety of challenges and advantages that are unique to each sector. Parking on the Boise State
University Campus can be a difficult and frustrating but with a little bit of help and information, you
can maneuver your way anywhere. Parking is a function that is necessary and required by almost
everyone that visits or uses the Boise State University campus. This may range from teachers to
visitors to employees. It includes students on campus that reside in the resident halls, apartments and
University suites. Parking is especially critical for students that do not reside on campus. These would
be part time or full time students. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is, of course, walking. A great source of exercise but typically only used to get from your car to
your final destination. You could ride your economically fuel efficient motorcycle, which is a great
way to travel if you do not have to worry about what you look like when you get back to work. Riding
a bicycle is a way to get around the parking conundrum since you can park your bike just about
anywhere. Last but not least, the bus is a source of transportation that many people do not look at as
they see it as time consuming and inconvenient. You must look at the parking options that are
available on and off campus when trying to decide where or how to park at Boise State. The Boise
State University Parking and Transportation Department provides a map that shows all parking areas
that are available. It appears the largest available space is the general parking. This is designated in
green on the Boise State University Campus parking map . There are lots that are located on campus
that are set as Reserved Parking . These lots appear to be located next to large structures that might
have a lot of traffic in and out. There are two parking garages that are available for reserved parking
and what is called pay by space . Within the general and reserved areas are places that you may park
your motorcycle. The motorcycles may have the largest area available per capita for motorcycle use.
When I had to visit the campus for a

Total Fixed Costs
The product my business has chose to produce is water bottles. After some research it can be said that
the typical production cost of one water bottle unit is $20. Total fixed costs for my company including
rent and utilities are $4000 per month. Given these numbers a linear cost function for my product can
be constructed; C(x) = 20x + 4000. In this equation x represents water bottles produced each month at
a price of $20 along with $4000 of total fixed costs. An estimated total cost per month can then be
determined of $120,000 looking at what the company can afford. Using the cost function C(x), we can
plug in 120,000 to then determine the number of water bottles produced each month, which will be x.
The beginning equation is C(120000) = 20x + 4000, begin by subtracting 4000 from each side leaving
us with 116000 = 20x then divide both sides of the equation by 20 to get a final answer of x = 5800.
This is the number of bottles produced each month. Given the price demand ... Show more content on

To solve the equation, you plug 3000 in for x and get p(price) = 120. Yes, the unit price of $120 may
seem high but because production decreased by almost half and we kept revenue the same the increase
in unit price was justified. A function for the elasticity of demand would have to follow the equation
E(p) = pf (p)/f(p). The predetermined function for f(p) = 12000 75p and taking the derivative f (p) =
75, these can be plugged into the elasticity demand function to get E(p) = 75p/12000 75p. Using the
unit price of $120 for p elasticity of demand comes out to be 3. Since 3 is greater than 1 the unit
elasticity at this price is elastic. Based on this finding increasing this price would make revenue less
productive and so we should keep the price of the water bottles lower to be able to produce more;
however, it would make sense to increase

  • 2. Essay On Dante s Inferno See no Evil. Hear no Evil. Do no Evil. Trapped up to his waist in ice, Dante s Satan with his warped wings pushes freezing gusts of air throughout the caverns of the ninth circle of hell. With him, the worst of all sinners are warped into fantastical shapes while encased in the frigid ice. They are the betrayers of love, the godly ideal of voluntary benefaction, and now must spend eternity without warmth or light. Nothing is felt; by being a traitor to their state or their benefactor, they have lost their right to God s love, condemned in the center of the Earth. I admire Satan in this situation the rejected angel thrown deep into Hell because of his power over his realm. His wings freeze the ice and trap both him and the sinners within it, and his heads, a warped holy trinity, continually chew on the three apparently worst humans in history: Judas, Cassius, and Brutus. Thrust into this duty of penultimate torturer, Satan delivers the worst treatment of all of the sins because he too is deserving of it. • 3. The Democratic Accountability Of The European Union Essay In this assignment I will be assessing the democratic accountability of the European Union. I will begin by briefly describing the institutions, their functions, compositions and discuss how they work as check and balance system to ensure democratic accountability further to look on to how laws are made and what they are In order to establish whether or not the EU is in fact answerable to its citizens. The 4 main institutions in the EU are; The EU parliament, the Council of Ministers, the European council and the Commission. The Commission is an independent body. Its powers are found in Article 17 on the Treaty on the European Union. Each member state has 1 commissioner; this was a consequence of the Lisbon Treaty. The president of the commission allocates each commissioner with a portfolio that oversees areas such as fisheries, environment, and trade. General Commissioners are suggested by member states and elected by president elect from the Council and parliament. Commission president is nominated by qualified majority vote of the European council, and is then elected by the European Parliament by majority vote if this candidate doesn t get the required amount of majority votes the council will propose another within four weeks. It could be argued that there is too much discretion in the powers of the president in that he/she can literally decide which commissioner gets which portfolio this could be out of personal preference. • 4. A Study On Prevention And Treatment Of A Platelet... Diagnosing prothrombotic diseases early and preventing its complications are significantly essential. Therefore, this study sought to investigate whether MPV contain diagnostic value that can prompt it to be utilized as a platelet activation marker and as marker of evidence of thrombotic risk. Platelet activation is widely acknowledged to be an indicator of likely prothrombotic diseases. Platelet size, measured as MPV, has been shown to be an indicator of platelet function and is positively linked to platelet activity indicators (Tsiara et al., 2003). The correlation between platelet size and function can be attributed to the larger platelets that activated megakaryocyte produce in the bone marrow likely to be more reactive and easier to aggregate than the normal platelets. Such is because the larger platelets secret more Ξ² thromboglobulin and serotonin, have denser granules, generate more thromboxane in comparison to the smaller platelets while also showing more activity than the smaller platelets (Dastjerdi et al., 2006). Therefore, the hyperactive large platelets contribute considerably in speeding the formation and spread of intracoronary thrombus. This causes acute thrombotic events to occur (Smith et al., 1999). Increased MPV levels are exhibited to constitute an independent predictor for recurrent MI, ischemic vascular events or even death caused by coronary artery disease (Wang et al., 2011; Chu et al., 2010; Huczek et al., 2005). It is common for the New Yorkers to interact with people visiting from all over the world. The racial differences seem not to matter to anyone in New York. The book Othello show similarities to racial interactions with the ones from New York City. However, looking closer at the play, Othello , seem to show us many interesting aspects of cultural differences. It seems that not only, racial and cultural differences were unconventional, but also unnatural . As an illustration, within first act of Othello , Roderigo and Iago encounter Brabanito and make many _not nice__ remarks towards the relationship between Brabanito s daughter and Othello. Iago says (...) an old black ram is tupping your white ewe. (P.30), suggesting that the black ram is Othello, and the white ewe is Desdemona. The first aspect of that quote is that a black ram, meaning black person (Othello) shouldn t be tapping, meaning reproduce (having sex) with a white ewe, a white person (Desdemona). Iago suggests that Othello s relationship is not only unconventional to the society in those times, but also unnatural . Essay about Executive Summary Executive Summary Mary Job Grand Canyon University NRS 451 V Dinwiddie Sandra April, 22, 2012 Pressure ulcer prevention (PUP) in surgical patients has become a major interest in acute care hospitals with the increased focus on patient safety and quality of care. A pressure ulcer is any area of skin or underlying tissue that has been damaged by unrelieved pressure or pressure in combination with friction and shear. Pressure ulcers are caused due to diminished blood supply which in turn leads to decreased oxygen and nutrient delivery to the affected tissues (Tschannen, Bates, Talsma, amp;Guo, 2012). Studies have proved that total operating time and overall number of surgical procedures are significant predictors of pressure ulcers. A research conducted by Lindgren et al found that 14.3 % of surgical patients acquired a pressure ulcer during the time from surgery to twelve weeks after surgery. For every thirty minutes the surgery went beyond four hours, the risk for a pressure ulcer increased by approximately thirty three percent. As we are all aware that there is no reimbursement for a hospital acquired pressure ulcer and the cost for each pressure ulcer has to be absorbed by the facility. A patient s development of a pressure ulcer while under the care of health care provider or facility is viewed as grounds of a professional liability law suit. The mere existence of pressure ulcer is often viewed as a physical evidence of medical negligence. The cost to treat pressure ulcers are expensive, the United Sates (US) health care system spends more than one billion dollars annually to treat pressure ulcers. Although the civil rights time period is a subject that is not talked about much today, it was years ago when there was a lot of segregation and discrimination. There were many African Americans who made a difference in their fight for civil rights, but not many white people tried to make that same difference. Jane Addams was one of the few white people who made this effort; she had an even bigger impact on civil rights since she was female and wealthy, along with her skin color. Jane Addams got involved in promoting civil rights because she grew up around many sophisticated adults that also supported it. In fact, her own father was Addams greatest influence and she grew up only knowing what he taught her. When she was just a little girl, her father told her that, ...it was important for those who have enough to help those who do not. (Ray, 8). This issue is becoming evident as the number of people retrieving their news through Google and Facebook increases. Personalisation through searches is evolving to only show the consumer what they want to see not what they need to see. Online Organiser and Author of The Filter Bubble , Eli Pariser argues in his TED Talk about the unreliability of not being exposed to information that could broaden our worldwide view and possibly resolve pivotal democratic issues. This cycle of trying to consistently please the users is becoming evident within search organisations and has evolved with technology as algorithmic filters were introduced having an unbalanced and unethical filter. This invisible filter is now generating a personal unique universe of information (Pariser, 2011), for every individual user, enforcing the inability to have a functioning democracy because of the public not receiving accurate and most importantly balanced information. The Filter Bubble s motive is to create a personalised environment online through the search engine, by getting to know the source of sites it thinks it s consumer is interested in. To explain, a social divide like the one that is depicted by Wordsworth has been taking place in the United Kingdom. Brexit , a referendum to leave the European Union that passed during the summer of 2016, mimics the nationalistic fervor that is exhibited in the poem, especially in phrasing such as ...raise us up, return to us again... (Meyer 703). In addition, one can infer that since older generations of voters swayed the decision, they too have a longing for a revived golden age, much like the plea that Wordsworth has towards the likes of John Milton, who was before Wordsworth time. Of course, this notable poem could not only be directed to the United Kingdom, but across the world as well. Across the many systems of governments, an ideological shift towards the right on the political spectrum has offered growth in terms of their own nation being the first of concern, and the rest of the world second. Such a shift tries to revive the golden age that Wordsworth has longed desired. In essence, the poem exhibits a striking resemblance to the world s current ideological shift. Utilizing deobfuscation, especially through signature analysis, has already been discussed to its fullest potential. New methods include CPU analyzers, holograpy, eigenvirus detection, differential fault analysis, the growing grapes method, and whitelist protection. These are more general approaches and therefore do not rely on storing certain specific characteristics of the code of malware and tend to analyze behavior. Due to the extreme focus on deobfuscation, these ideas have only been explored fairly recently and are currently underdeveloped. As was stated in the previous section, CPU analyzers are a possible valid method of detecting malware. While it can be unreliable alone, O Kane et al. believe it can be a good preliminary detection method for metamorphic malware due to high CPU processing times (2011). The impression I received throughout the entire poem is the cycle of life. The author of this poem, John Updike was born on March 18, 1932 and died on January 27, 2009. He was influenced by several different people such as: William Shakespeare, James Joyce, Marcel Proust, John Barth, and many other people. One of his famous quotes that I like is [d]reams come true; without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them. John Updike wrote many different things. He wrote short stories, poems, and novels. John Updike s inspiration came from all over. All of the people that inspired him came from different places. The main theme in this poem is that one s ways or personality cannot be remade by someone. People can imitate what a person does or how a person acts, but they will never be able to replicate it one hundred percent. The speaker in this poem talks about how when someone dies their personality will be lost forever because it cannot be reperformed by someone else, not even their closest friends or family members. Imitators and descendants aren t the same. (Line 14) A person can be near someone for twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks in a year and still not be them exactly. When someone dies, there will be glimpses of them in others that they have touched through their actions, but they will never fully see them in just one single person. They work on making the most perfect personality for themselves throughout their entire life just to see that when they die it dies with them. When someone works this hard on something they do not want it to end. They make people happy by using it, they help people by using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is one of the biggest stereotypes about Asians out there. According to a 2008 online article called Stuff Asian People Like written by Peter; states that Asians tend to be loud due to adversity. We were compared to the Anglo Saxon legend of Beowulf. Asians are actually peaceful looking creatures who are soon to be evolved into creatures of such legends like Beowulf . According to Peter, we are compared to Beowulf because when Asians tend to talk loudly, it is as if we are screaming at the top of our lungs while trying to kill someone as Beowulf; a barbaric warrior would do. Peter also states that Asians tend to speak out loud due to the fact that we are stressed out in life. Peter is really basing this stereotype off of some kung fu movie, because we all know it is true that when someone like Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee starts fighting, they tend to pull out some loud grunts. Also the article states that we speak loudly because we are not able to express our opinions due to communism laying a barrier on our world and once we hit America, we are loud due to that barrier being lifted. What a big load of lies. I say it is a lie because I used to visit my country of Vietnam back then, and Vietnam is a huge communist country, yet I have seen many people especially other ethnic Asians visiting the country talking extremely loud. • 27. Effects Of Alcohol On Body And How It Affects People Essay Chapter Six discusses the effects that alcohol has on the body and how it affects people. The amounts of death by drinking and driving have started educational efforts such as MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). Physically alcohol makes significant damage to the human body. It damages nerves in the body creating permanent damage. The liver stops working because it becomes hard, called cirrhosis. The blood cannot go through and has to go through other avenues in the body causing stomach distension and bloating. The heart cannot work as well and therefore there is fluid built up in the legs and abdomen. Brain damage is caused by the loss of vitamins, creating memory loss. Bill W. created Alcoholics Anonymous to help other alcoholics in a Christian way. He used the five C s that he learned from Rev. Sam Shoemaker. The five C s are Confidence, Confession, Conviction, Conversion and Continuance. Rev. Sam made clear that if you leave God out of anything that you need to do, you add pride to whatever other sins you are committing. Psalms 23: 19 21, describes how alcohol may look piece and pretty at first, but it bites and leads to pain and hallucinations. Chapter seven discusses smoking. • 28. The Current State Of Health Care System Essay Introduction The current state of United States health care system is one of the most polarizing subjects of debate among scholars and other health care professionals across the globe. This can be attributed to the fact that at one extreme end, there are some who argue that that Americans have the best system of health care in the world (MePhee, 2013). Perhaps the availability of the state of the art facilities and free medical technology that have become highly symbolic of the various industries in the United States have motivated the idea of the country s health care system being unparalleled to others. However, there is a common belief that the fight for universal health care can only be successful if its current state of health care is described as a failure in the modern era as emphasized by MePhee (2013). As a matter of fact Wise and Yashiro, 2006 assert that there some individuals who describe the America s system as being fragmented and inefficient, considering the staggering statistics regarding how Americans spend more on health care compared to other countries in the world. Additionally, they suffer from massive insurance costs and uneven quality of care, and thus understanding the debate about the two diametrically opposed viewpoints requires an in depth understanding of the current health care issues in the United States (Rashidian, Joudaki, Vian, Baradaran, 2012). • 29. Analysis Of The Circumplex Model In On Golden Pond The Circumplex Model: Adaptability and Flexibility Throughout On Golden Pond, it is apparent that Chelsea, Norman, and Ethel are rigidly enmeshed. According to Olson s circumplex model, rigidly enmeshed families have authoritarian leadership, strict discipline, roles rarely change, there is too little change. Additionally, enmeshment in families is illustrated by very high closeness, very high loyalty, high dependency, and a lack of individuality (Sanders Bell, 2011). Although Chelsea is distant with her family in the number of visits it is an artificial distance of time and space. They are strongly emotionally entangled as demonstrated through the ability of the family to emotionally affect one and other. Slightly like the characters in On Golden Pond, the family in Stepmom appear to be chaotically enmeshed. The circumplex model claims families who are chaotic present with a lack of leadership, erratic discipline, dramatic role shifts, and too much change (Sanders Bell, 2011). Chaos is present in the structure of the two living environments of the children: one environment is structured and the other one is disorderly. This leads to confusion for the children because the system lacks consistency. Enmeshment is personified through the children s emotional fusion with their mother. When Jackie is upset with Isabel, the children are upset with Isabel. The children and the mother s emotions are intertwined. On the other hand, Rita slightly contrasts the two families above as she appears to be rigidly disengaged instead of enmeshed. Rita and Denny are not intimately close. This is illustrated as Rita responds to a question by saying, loyalty? I [have] you know, I [have] tried to explain it to my husband ... I think he [is] thick (Gilbert, 1983). Rita s family lacks the flexibility to change. People get married and have kids. There is no self exploration, enlightenment, and adaptability is absent. Hans Vollman and Roger Bevins III are also going through heavy denial about their deaths, which keeps them from moving on as well. They have been dead long enough and have convinced each other of the fact that they are just sick in their sick boxes. It is in William Lincoln though that we really see how good it is for these characters to move on. William in trying to stay in the graveyard in this bardo state, declines in spirit health. On page 195 the Reverend Everly Thomas describes William in this manner as real as the fading, webbed boy breathing shallowly at my feet, banded down snugly across his chest like a captive of the wild Indians. The reader had been warned at the beginning of the novel at how terrible it is for children to stay in the bardo for long. Total fixed costs for my company including rent and utilities are $4000 per month. Given these numbers a linear cost function for my product can be constructed; C(x) = 20x + 4000. In this equation x represents water bottles produced each month at a price of $20 along with $4000 of total fixed costs. An estimated total cost per month can then be determined of $120,000 looking at what the company can afford. Using the cost function C(x), we can plug in 120,000 to then determine the number of water bottles produced each month, which will be x. The beginning equation is C(120000) = 20x + 4000, begin by subtracting 4000 from each side leaving us with 116000 = 20x then divide both sides of the equation by 20 to get a final answer of x = 5800. This is the number of bottles produced each month. Given the price demand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To solve the equation, you plug 3000 in for x and get p(price) = 120. Yes, the unit price of $120 may seem high but because production decreased by almost half and we kept revenue the same the increase in unit price was justified. A function for the elasticity of demand would have to follow the equation E(p) = pf (p)/f(p). The predetermined function for f(p) = 12000 75p and taking the derivative f (p) = 75, these can be plugged into the elasticity demand function to get E(p) = 75p/12000 75p. Using the unit price of $120 for p elasticity of demand comes out to be 3. Since 3 is greater than 1 the unit elasticity at this price is elastic. Based on this finding increasing this price would make revenue less productive and so we should keep the price of the water bottles lower to be able to produce more; however, it would make sense to increase ...
