The Two Chinese Philosophies Of Confucianism
The two Chinese philosophies of Legalism and Confucianism could not be more opposite. Even
though two of the writers of Legalism were students of Xinzu, a philosopher of Confucianism, there
are more of differences than similarities between the two. Because of this, legalism, which preceded
the concept of Confucianism, had a lot of reasons why Confucianism was considered wrong. While
towards the fall of the Qin Dynasty, Confucian beliefs started to revamp and become more widely
accepted and thus they were blended together to some extent, this was not the case beforehand, in fact
it could be argued that blending the two together seemed almost impossible. Confucianism stressed
the ideas of the knowledge, humaneness, and filial piety while legalism stressed power, rewards and
punishments, and agricultural wealth. Thus from a legalist standpoint, Confucianism was considered
wrong because it placed value on virtues instead of the laws, focusing on education to prosper growth
and moral character instead of simply obeying societal laws and valuing agricultural wealth rather
than humaneness Thus differences far exceed similarities between these two ancient beliefs. However,
both have made everlasting marks on Chinese culture and tradition that to this day still exists.
Here is my suggestion for a more succinct and focused intro, deleting what you have above:

Human And Technological Aspects Of Cyber Threats

In an age of rapidly expanding data and highly skilled threat actors, technological advancements
present the urgent duality of great opportunity and great risk. A universities data is integral to both,

Security Authentication Four processes are in the security authentication process. These steps are: 1)
Identification, 2) Authentication, 3) Authorization, and 4) Accountability.
It is vital to integrate these four steps into any network intended to be secure. Properly configured a
secured network will be able to protect itself from attacks like PW hacking, DDOS attacks, brute force
attacks, and insiders abusing their system rights (internal and external). Identification is the first of the
four steps in this process. Any user that expects to gain access to a system referred to as a supplicant,
and the tool that every user who gains entry to the network, referred to as an Identifier. The identifier
can have many different methods for identifying the supplicant. The identifier should be able to locate
the users credentials from a database of unique information that determines the supplicants identity.

Coworkers with common names, such as John Doe, employee Id s or Social Security numbers are
utilized. In most companies, they are no longer using the employee s Social Security number to
identify them in their system. They are replacing them with an employee ID. This reduces the
information that a network intruder (also known as a hacker) or another employee gaining access to

Los Angeles Riots Case Study
Introduction In this new decade where political correctness trumps common sense, civil unrest often
leads to violent unrest.
Los Angeles Riots On March 3, 1991, Rodney King, an African American taxi driver on parole for a
robbery conviction, led two California Highway Patrol Officers, Tim and Melanie Singer (husband
and wife) on a high speed chase on the freeway in Los Angeles, California. He had been drinking

Essay on Trapping Today Should be Legal, but Limited
Trapping Today Should be Legal, but Limited
Trapping is a very important issue, which is connected to many other larger issues. For instance,
trapping lies at the heart of the First
Nation s distinct society issue. Before I talk about the present, however,
I would like to discuss whether trapping should have been illegal when
Canada was first being settled in the 17th and 18th centuries.
When the first explorers came to the new world, it was regarded as a huge slab of worthless rock
standing between Europe and the riches of the
Orient. The only reason these explorers even explored this continent was the hope of finding the North
West passage, a route to the Orient.
Fortunately, while searching for this North West ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Relations with the Indians were shaky, at best. Some Indians befriended the French, and some
befriended the English. Some just gave their furs to the highest bidder. The relationship with the
Indians was more than just a trade agreement. The wars of the Indians were the wars of the French.
Now, imagine what would happen if one day, an Indian came to a
Frenchman and offered him a pelt. The Frenchman tells the Indian that not only will he not buy it, but
no Frenchman in New France will. Not only that, trapping furs in the forests belonging to the French
was not allowed. The relationships with the Indians which had taken so long to establish would be
shattered in days. The Indians would probably recognize the French as their enemies. Now not only
the enemies of the Indian friends of the
French would attack them, but also their friends . Settlers would again become afraid to come to New
France because of the fierce Indian attacks.
The French colony in New France would cease to exist. Therefore, I think trapping should have been
legal then. Now that I have talked about fur trapping then, I ll talk about it now. Unfortunately, it is
much more complicated now. Animal rights activists have told us that it is wrong to kill an animal for
its fur. I strongly agree with this opinion, especially since man made fur is so accessible.
Unfortunately, there are people who

College Essay
To many high school students, college seems like a far away land, a mysterious place where everyone
wants to be yet not many know how to get there. As children, our parents tell us how much time we
have to think about college, and that it is too far down the line to think about. The truth is it is never
too early to think about your future. I, like many people, put little thought into my future career and
now am lost in an unfortunate mix of indecision and anxiety. Not knowing where you want to be in
the future is a hard burden to bear. Many of us tend to find out that we only know what we do not
want, not what we actually do want. Do we want to be poor? Absolutely not. Do we want a boring

Pharmacists make, on average, $111,570 per year. To become a pharmacist in the United States, one
must receive a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, referred to as a Pharm.D, and being certified by passing

of undergraduate study (usnews.com), while some attain a Bachelors degree in a science to better their
abilities. These courses include biology, chemistry, and calculus, among others. I think I would make a
good pharmacist because I have always had an interest in medicine. I also love helping people and

Nuclear Safety Regulations And Measures
On March 11, 2011, an earthquake large enough to cause the earth axis to shift by several inches (p. 3)
sent a massive tsunami rushing towards a forested stretch of the Japanese coast south of Sendai where
the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power reactors stood vulnerable (p. 4). Over the ensuing weeks, the
world watched in horror as a natural disaster transformed into a man made catastrophe: fail safes
failed, cooling systems shut down, nuclear rods melted, communications broke down, hazardous
radioactive exposures and contamination occurred, and masses of people were displaced. Safety of
nuclear power plants is a very important topic that has significant local and global implication for
environmental health. This book was chosen to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To summarize, after the earthquake, the initial shutdown of Fukushima s reactors went according to
plan; the real problem was when the second wave of the tsunami struck. A fifty feet high wave easily
surged over the seawall, destroying seawater pumps and drowning the plant s electrical system and
power panels. This rendered the emergency backup generators unusable and lead to a station blackout.
Without any power to run the pumps and valves needed to provide a steady flow of cooling water, the
radioactive fuel would overheat, the remaining water would boil away, and the core would proceed
inexorably toward a meltdown. (p. 12) Serious communication problems between TEPCO [Tokyo
Electric Power Company, operator of the plant] and the multilayered Japanese government and its
huge nuclear bureaucracy hampered recovery efforts in the hours that followed the nuclear crisis. On
paper, all these duties and responsibilities may have seemed clear. In practice, however, the system
proved unworkable. (p. 16) Fukushima nuclear disaster sparked the debate about the safety of nuclear
power in general and the nuclear plant designs in particular such as how to improve on the current
plants safety designs to prevent another Fukushima like scenario from ever happening. The

Leitax Case Essay
How did the rapid maturing of the digital camera marketplace affect Leitax s supply chain challenges

Improved technology and reduction in price made the digital camera industry grow rapidly and inject
life into a very stagnant sector. Worldwide sales growth rate for the digital cameras had double digit
growth for almost 15 years. However that growth was slowing and was starting to reverse from a
strong 25% in 2005 to a weak 5.2% in 2006 and into negative territory 2007 and beyond. This growth
masked the problems in Leitax s supply chain.
Other external factors magnifying Leitax s supply chain challenges was that digital camera technology

Define the core interests/incentives of key actors in the forecasting process and identify the most
pressing alignment needs/priorities among key actors?
The concept of demand forecasting more accurately measures and predicts the changes and
opportunities in the supply chain.
Based on the case, there were two fundamental changes to standardize and improve the accuracy of
forecasts. The first area was to switch the focus of the focus of the forecasting process from sell in to
sell through . This meant tracking closely what was sold in one region and shipped from another made
forecasting market demand a more accurate exercise. The second area centered on ignoring capacity
constraints to estimate demand. In the past, forecasting was affected by perceptions of present and
future supply chain capacity .
These forecasts were critical to the success of the company s refocused financial strategy. To
accomplish this, there was high priority and core interest to align the master production schedule
through the improvement of the demand planning process. This included the Redesign Project which
among other things focused on the implementation of a decision support system (DSS) to create a
more accurate MPS that can be published more frequently.
What was the critical mission and scope of work of the Forecast Re Design Team? What supply chain

For Gay Marriage
Expository Writing
Analyzing a Text #2
Molly O Brien In the Boston Globe newspaper editorial For Gay Marriage the editors argue that gay
marriage should be legalized. Throughout the article the Globe Editors mention the expanding circle
of rights, the circle includes the civil rights movement, gender equality, rights for the disabled, 18 year
olds to vote, single mothers and adoptive parents. It is apparent that the right for gay marriage should
occur ( Globe A18).These advances have occurred with the help of court cases. The 1967 supreme
court case and Loving V. Virginia Court rulings ruled that the ban on interracial marriage was
unconstitutional ( Globe A18). Along with the court precedents The Globe uses Hillary Goodridge as
an example when she was unable to see her newly born daughter in the hospital because she was not
married to her partner of 15 years. (A18). The Editors discuss opposing reasons why gay marriage
should not be legalized by the Massachusetts Attorney General. One argument the attorney general
makes is that marriage is, ...A social institution designed to promote child bearing and rearing (A18).
The Globe the refutes this statement because same sex couples are not denied the right to adopt as
well as they do the everyday things an opposite sex couple would do (A18). In the Boston Globe
article editors use court precedents and emotional stories to argue that gay marriage should be
legalized. One form of evidence the Globe uses to support that gay

Piaget s Theory Of Child Development
A Classroom Design According to Piaget ECE 332 Child Development
Carmen Anderson
June 29, 2013
When the brain is able to learn naturally we call this theory brain based learning we use our brain
everyday to acquire and take in things that we learn and children are no exception. According to Jean
Piaget s cognitive developmental theory children use their brain to think, reason, and remember. Based
upon his observations, he concluded that children were not less intelligent than adults, they simply
think differently (Cherry, n.d.). Piaget described his theory using stages that children go through as
they mentally mature. In his description of children he called them little scientists, actively trying to
make sense of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another feature that children display during this stage is animism. In other words children believe that
inanimate objects such as toys and stuffed animals have human feelings and intentions. Piaget
believed that by age seven children are no longer egocentric because they can now see more than just
their own point of view. It is important that teachers, who use Piaget s theory to teach, design a
classroom in which these theories can be focused on. In the layout below you will see a design of a
classroom that aligns with Piaget s theory and we will discuss some activities that can be used in the
classroom to help children develop in their learning. This classroom is designed to promote growth
and development so that young children can express themselves while learning about the world
around them. There will be several centers where the children will be able to explore and learn
through play both alone and in groups. The design provides quiet areas for activities such as napping
and reading and activity areas where they can take part in dramatic play and construction. It is
important that the classroom be print rich, so everything in the class will be labeled with words and
pictures this will help promote growth in language skills (Funk, n.d.). The classroom design chosen
allows easy access for students to move freely without being overcrowded. In the dramatic play area
children can play freely and use their imagination to become whoever they

An Analysis Of Robert Leckie s The Mystery Of The...
The difficulties of staying sane are immense during war and tragedies. Despite being institutionalized
and constant attempts to change one s mindset and demeanor, the war didn t alter Robert Leckie s
overall personality and traits as a man. Continuous physical and psychological battles erupted during
World War II. Robert Leckie managed to remain sane, balanced, and humble enough to paint a clear
picture of graphic and vivid altercations and battles. During the war, like most marines, Leckie began
to question his intellect and the things he believed was significant. He assumed that he was becoming
to understand and perceive most of the enigmas within reality, until he got to war. The mystery of the
universe had once inhabited these lolling lumps, had given each an identity, a way of walking, perhaps
a social habit of address or a way with words or a knack of putting color on canvas. They had been so
different, then. Now they were nothing, heaps of nothing . (Helmet for My Pillow p 37) When relating
to the bullets in and the power of guns, Leckie wondered how many lives are altered and obliterated
by a quarter inch of heated metal. Does this force, this mystery, I mean this soul does this spill out on
the ground along with the blood? No. It is somewhere, I know it. Another instance is when a Japanese

Gender Expectations
Henrik Ibsen s play, A Doll s House, debuted in 1879 before an offended Norwegian audience. It
proposed many breaks in the gender expectations of the 19th century that led to its label of culturally
unacceptable . Ibsen strategically reveals the negative effects of these expectations in a way that elicits
guilt from the audience rather than confronting them directly. He renders the closing scene of the play
ironic to create a critical tone of this aspect of Norwegian culture. This scene is key in understanding
the consequences of gender expectations in the relationship between Nora and Torvald.
Throughout the ending scene of the play, Ibsen clearly illustrates the irony of the gender expectations
within Nora and Torvald s relationship through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Torvald claims that the key to success in their marriage as well as the answer to Nora s anxiety ... is to
be open, frank, and honest with me (pg. 109). The audience finds out, however, in the following scene,
that when Nora finally opens up to Torvald about the way she has felt through their marriage, he is
offended and confused. This reveals that gender expectations have warped Torvald s ideas of truth and
moral correctness so that he could not possibly accept something that is outside these bounds as truth.
It is this warped perception that leads to Torvald s moral dissonance later in this scene when he has
trouble accepting the things that Nora is telling him. At one point in Nora s speech, Torvald had to
make an attempt at [regaining his composure] (pg.115), revealing that he had been taken off guard and
bewildered by a problem that he thought he had to solve yet again. This adds to the irony that Torvald
is fighting Nora to keep her in line with gender expectations while he cannot retain his own. Ibsen
speaks to his audience by revealing to them that many are taught throughout their lives to follow their
gender expectations which can warp their worldview and even prevent them from taking certain steps

the differing attitudes towards passionate love, and the aspirations of indiviuals. Depsite the variations
in textual forms, it is in examining both texts as social commentaries witihin their respective contexts

Freedom In Harrison Bergeron
Freedom is a capacity that helps people to choose, to behave without restrictions and prohibitions. It is
a term that defines people s rights and it helps people to behave independently. Freedom that is mostly
expressed in the language of rights determines people s acts as long as it respects the rights of other
individuals. Self respect and intelligence are also derived from being free. Kurt Vonnegut wrote a
story named Harrison Bergeron (1962) which demonstrates the importance of freedom and being free.
In the story it can be seen that government to protect the equality of human beings uses the

Narrative Is The Representation Of An Event Or Series Of...
Plainly, a narrative is the representation of an event or series of events. However, questionably, a first
person narrative holds far more significance as it acts as a personal mechanism that is used to define
oneself. This may be referred to as a self narrative, Ibarra, H. and Barbulescu, R. 2010 refer to this to
describe a story that is informative of the speaker. It is human nature to create narratives that represent
ourselves and where we stand in society. These constructions allow us to connect and identify with
society as well as bind ourselves to an institution. They are a mode of making sense of the world. As
explained by Kerby, (1991) our sense of self is a product of the stories we tell ourselves and others. In
this essay I will explore different functions of narratives including the constant need for humans to
forge narratives to identify themselves. With particular reference to how we relate to other people in
order to feel part of a group, including how this changes through different strata s of society, such as
of varying age. I will draw on theories such as: Greima s (1996) actantial model, Labov s (1992)
structure of oral narratives, narrative theory and Person environment fit theory.
Successful narrative have three features. Firstly, temporality, a chronological sequence of events. This
is the aspect that represents a flow of events. Linguistics consider that narratives make evolutionary
sense if they re observed as the notion by which human kind

The Development Of The Philippines
The Philippines is located in the South East region of Asia, this region consists of other countries such
as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and others. The Philippines would be categorized as a
developing country in stage three of the demographic transition model. With a falling birth rate of
24.24 per every 1000 people, with a low death rate of 4.92 per every 1000 people. With a population
of 107.668.231 as of 2014, their median age is 23.5 years of age resulting in a very young population
overall as seen in the population pyramid. The triangular shape, with a large number of the population
below 30 years of age. The sex ratio of the Philippines is one male for every woman, and a life
expectancy of 73 years from birth. The Philippines has a rapidly growing population with a large
increase of young people starting to become a part of the working class (15 to 60 years of age),
resulting in not enough jobs for these people resulting in unemployment, temporary emigration or
permanent emigration. The Philippines has been lagging behind its neighboring countries such as the
People s Republic of China, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam both economically and in public
education for the past four decades. With its economy being characterized by boom bust cycles and
episodes of moderate economic growth little has helped to alleviate the poverty. Poverty among
households has increased from 24.4% to 26.9% between the years of 2003 and 2006. With the increase

Nap-Time Is Good
Nap time is good Obviously some point in your life you re either going to take a nap or already have
taken a nap. In fact many people take naps on the daily. Maybe when you sleep you ll want to set a
timer so you don t go too long on your nap. For example in source #3 ask the sleep doctor is states, i
recommend that if you decide to take a nap, set a timer 10 to 20 minutes so that you don t oversleep.
that explaining that you should not oversleep a nap but naps are still good for the human body.
Another reason why sleep is good, napping can lead to good habits such as when in the source #2 it
states, Napoleon Bonaparte, a french emperor, often gave rousing speeches at a moment s notice,
perhaps this was due to his habit of taking of taking frequent naps. That s saying that make napping a
good habit in your daily life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about Rational Choice Theory in Political Science
Rational Choice Theory in Political Science
According to one of rational choice theory s prominent and more thoughtful contemporary exponents,
Peter C. Ordeshook, four books mark the beginning of modern political theory: Anthony Downs s An
Economic Theory of Democracy (1957), Duncan Black s Theory of Committees and Elections (1958),
William H. Riker s A Theory of Political Coalitions (1962), and James Buchanan and Gordon Tullock
s The Calculus of Consent (1962). These volumes, along with Kenneth Arrow s Social Choice and
Individual Values (1951), began such a wealth of research that political scientists today have difficulty
digesting and synthesizing all but small parts of it. Consequently, the full value of this research often

First I will provide an overview of what rational choice theory is and why it has staked such a
prominent position in the discipline of political science. In this section I conclude that rational choice
theory has indeed developed advanced methodologies at telling us how rational agents should behave.
Then in my second section I will show, using the empirical case of the free rider problem and
collective action, as well as the case of suicide terrorism, that rational choice theory cannot adequately
account for actual political phenomena. In my third section I will provide some reasons for why this is
the case. Finally, in my concluding section I will posit a theoretical framework incorporating some
refinements to the assumptions behind rational choice theory that would better aid a predictive (but
not universalist) political science.
What is Rational Choice Theory?
Rational choice theory is actually more than one theory per se, but the basic similarities among its
variants mean that they can be intelligibly amalgamated for the purposes of critiquing its
implementation in political science. Therefore public choice theory, positive political science, rational
actor models, and the economic approach to politics, among others, refer to what we may call rational
choice theory for the purposes of this essay. (See Green and Shapiro 1994, xi.

Masculinity In Intersex
Sex, gender, marriage, and kinship are all topics that Anthropologist are interested in because they
exist in all cultures therefor, they are a great reference point between cultures. Each of these topics can
be challenging and worthwhile to study because they can teach us different things about a culture.
Sex simply put is the reproduction organs you were born with. You are either male or female. With
this being said it is important to point out that sex is not always clearly defined in all humans and
throughout time people have been born with a sex that was not clear. The Greek Historian Diodorrus
Siculus wrote in the first century BC:
Hermaphroditus, as he has been called, who was born of Hermes and Aphrodite and received a name
which is a combination of those of both his parents. Some say that this Hermaphroditus is a god and
appears at certain times among men, and that he is born with a physical body which is a combination
of that of a man and that of a woman, in that he has a body which is ... Show more content on

For most of time intersex people have been made either through surgery and or medicines to live life

Our texts defines gender as a cultural construct that makes biological and physical differences into
social meaningful categories. Within each society there are also gender roles or the expectations of the
different sexes in a society. Studying these can tell us about how a culture divides labor, views the
opposite sexes and how gender socialization occurs with children. In a hunter/gather society women
gather while men hunter. These are clearly defined roles. However, in many equalitarian societies
around the world today both genders perform similar jobs to support the family. Just this week in

apparent, they still seem not to be ready for civilian use. This is due to several reasons, including e.g.
civilian UAVs (CUAVs) requiring different technological solutions such as optimized platforms,
different endurance requirements, dedicated payloads and different ground control systems. An
additional important problem to be solved is the integration of UAVs in the civilian airspace, which
will require the adoption of civilian airworthiness standards and proven safety features. Last but not

A Report On Aedes Albopictus
3. BACKGROUND AND LITERATURE REVIEW
3.1 INTRODUCTORY STATEMENT
Aedes albopictus is considered to be the most invasive mosquito species in the world (1, 2) and there
is an increased potential for its introduction into mainland Australia given the established populations
discovered, since 2005, in the Torres Strait, the region that sandwiches between Papua New Guinea
(PNG) and northern Australia (3). The aedine mosquito species have been culpably involved in the
transmission cycles of pathogens of public health importance (1). Aedes albopictus is known to have
both field and laboratory proven vector competence for a number of emerging and re emerging viruses
including chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and dengue virus (DENV). CHIKV and DENV are arthropod
borne (arboviruses) viruses transmitted by the Aedes genus (4). Dengue is considered the most
important arboviral disease in the world affecting 390 million people every year (5, 6), and CHIKV
has continued to conquer new territories; charting an unprecedented worldwide expansion (7 11). In
Australia, dengue outbreaks occur regularly in northern Queensland where there is Aedes aegypti (12
14). Between November 2008 and May 2009, more than one thousand confirmed autochthonous cases
of dengue were recorded in Cairns, north Queensland, and Aedes aegypti, the only competent dengue
vector, at the time, was implicated. There is increasing global concern about recent outbreaks of
pathogenic arboviruses from diverse viral families including

Formulating Equations And Unbiased Opinion
It is important to see a situation from both sides when trying to understand people. You have to see it
through their eyes, and climb into their skin and walk around in it. (Lee, 39) It s important when you
are sympathizing for somebody and when you are trying to understand the reasoning behind someone
s actions. It s of paramount importance to see through somebody s eyes and then walk a mile in their
shoes.
When formulating an opinion over the wrongdoing of a person, it is important to understand both
positions. In a courtroom, a judge has to accept two arguments and formulate an unbiased opinion. If
he or she were to only see one position and then create an opinion, then it would be unfair and unjust.
Also, if a person was caught with

Compare And Contrast There Will Come Soft Rains
There Will Come Soft Rains was written as a poem by Sara Teasdale and a story written by Ray
Bradbury. Sara Teasdale s poem was written 30 years before Ray Bradbury s story. Both versions of
There Will Come Soft Rains appear to be inspired by war and contain a fair amount of foresight. Sara
Teasdale originally wrote There Will Come Soft Rains as a poem in 1920. It was written during the
time of WWI but still has a futuristic setting. Teasdale starts the poem in a soft, sweet and peaceful
way. By the middle of the poem the tone becomes darker. By the end of the poem the tone is dark, and
the war has ended. Teasdale predicts that after the humans destroy themselves with war, nature will go
on without even noticing. Ray

Differences Between Confucianism And Confucianism
All of these different systems and philosophies highly emphasize: the harmony between people, the
benevolence that one must have, filial piety, loyalty, righteousness, and courtesy for a successful and
healthy society. Even though they all have a different idea, their goal is the same. The morality and
ethics of human behaviors were also part of the teachings that shaped the culture of today. Even
though the goals of these philosophies were similar, like their beliefs about man and society; their
ideas were a little bit different and each had their own focus. The difference in focus between
Confucianism and Taoism is that Confucianism was focused on having a structured society. It held as
a principle the brotherhood of humanity. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Tao is the unknown, powerful force to which the whole world and universe flows. It is the
ultimate reality and that everything is one despite the differences in appearances. They believed that
life is good, there was an emphasis on the body, and the goal was to gain balance in life. They had a
good view on women. They were generally equal to men and highly spoken of in the teachings.
Taoism believes in the concept of the Yin and the Yang. This concept is that two halves, two opposites,
make a whole. It is a balance, equilibrium of wholeness. The Yin is the dark side, while the Yang is the
light side. We can see this balance every day in life. Like the day and the night, a man and a woman.
There cannot be one without the other. Absence of light creates darkness; absence of heat makes it
cold. When there are beautiful things, the ugly ones come out. And when there is good, there is also
bad. One thing defines and complements the other. They coexist by opposing each other. Yet, nothing
is completely Yang and nothing is completely Yin. One is the starting point of the other. They are
interdependent to be complete. When one increases, the other one decreases. This is how they
maintain the overall balance.
Mohism, on the other hand, was rival to Confucianism and Daoism. He was too liberal to agree to all
the social rules that Confucius had created. He did not agree either with the importance of tradition or
rituals of Confucianism.

The economic interest of the Unites States greatly outweighs the benefit of maintaining a Cuban

Stereotypes Of Mass Murderers
Mass murderers are categorized either as organized or unorganized, and inside of each type are three
subtypes. Organized killers could be disciple, pseudo commando, or set and run, while unorganized
killers could be family annihilators, disgruntled employees, or spree killers. A disciple killer is
someone who follows the dictates of a charismatic leader, such as Jim Jones. Jones led his cult of The
People s Temple to mass suicide killing 900 of his followers. His followers drank a cyanide ÂŹlaced
punch to commit suicide. Pseudo commandos are people who are preoccupied with weaponry on a
killing. An example is James Huberty, who killed 22 people at a McDonald s restaurant in San Ysidro

The traits are either physical, psychological, social, emotional, or sexual. Physical traits include their
age, sex, and skin color. For example, Bonnie was a 23 year old white female and Clyde was a 23 year

under the psychological category. Dylann Storm Roof is a 21 year was the perpetrator of the 2015
Charleston church shooting in which he killed 9 African Americans. He later stated that he hated
African Americans so he killed them out of hate and that he was trying to ignite a race war (Navarro).
The next trait is social, which include being anti social, failing at love or school, or being bullied.
Christopher Sean Harper‐Mercer was the gunman at the Umpqua community college shooting in
Oregon. After the shooting, his neighbors reported that they never saw Mercer with any friends or
girlfriends and that he would always sit outside on the balcony with very little light (Mai Duc). In the
emotional side, they see themselves as victims and they have no remorse or regret. For instance,
Hitler. Violent fantasies and the desire to be intimate are part of the sexual traits. Elliot Rodger killed 6
people before taking his own life on May 23, 2014. His reasons were that he wanted to punish women
for rejecting him and to punish sexually active men for living a more enjoyable life than

The pope alone has the power, right, and full authority, extending beyond that of all councils, to call,
adjourn, and dissolve the councils. This is attested not only by the Holy Scriptures as well as the
statements of the Holy Fathers and our predecessors on the throne at Rome, but even the councils
themselves. These two examples that are provided proves that the church wanted full authority over
matters in the church as well as matters outside of the church because it was ordained by God. Two
historical critics of the Roman Catholic church during the late middle ages were John Wycliffe and
John Hus. Neither men were humanist, John Wycliffe was a professor who had strong views of the

Supplemental Income (SSI) program as an assistance source of last resort for the aged, blind, or

January 1974, administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA). SSI has been highly
successful in helping society s most vulnerable citizens. These individuals rely on SSI benefits in

Children as well as adults can get benefits because of blindness and disability. Blind means you are
either blind or have very poor eyesight. Disabled means you have a physical or mental problem that
keeps you from working and is expected to last a year or to result in death. For a child, Social Security
looks at how his or her disability affects everyday life. Individuals monthly SSI benefit amounts are
also affected by their income, resources, and living arrangements. The more income you have, the less
your SSI payment will be. If your income is over the allowable limit, you cannot receive SSI. The
value of a persons resources (the things they own) determines whether they are eligible for SSI
payments. The limit for countable resources is $2000 for an individual, and $3000 for a couple. The
living arrangements are important because payments vary depending if you live in your own place
such as a house, apartment, or trailer; or in someone else s household; or in an institution. The benefits
are financed from general revenues, and some states supplement the Federal benefit. When states add
to the federal SSI payment, then the SSI payment levels are higher in those states. The maximum
federal payment changes yearly. As of January 1, 2000, the federal benefit rate was $512 for an
individual and $769 for a couple. Factors such as race, gender and education all play a part in who
participates in the SSI program. African Americans, other nonwhites,

author states that way we view teenage girls is wrong and that we negatively reflect onto how teenage

act, to the way feel. The point of this paper is to describe what the podcast was about, the key concepts
of the podcast, and one thing learned about the topic.
Summary
This podcast takes an thought provoking take on how we talk about girls. It describes how we talk
about girls in such a way that we automatically set them up to fail. By teaching girls that they can be
too sexual, or too prude, we miss what the point about what a girl wants and wishes are. An
fascinating way the speaker talks about how to bring up the issues is to bring up the subject while

Gertrude And Ophelia And Hamlet Character Analysis
Imagine being told that you are loved, and then are treated like you are worth nothing. This is a reality
for the women in Hamlet written by William Shakespeare; Gertrude and Ophelia. Women in the 1600s
were seen as objects with no value and were only there for the convenience of the male in their life.
Gertrude and Ophelia are the only two female characters in the play, and there are many males in the
play that treat them with disrespect. Hamlet is the big offender of these two women in the play. The
relationship between Ophelia and Hamlet is confusing because it goes back and forth, where Hamlet
loves Ophelia, to where he never loved her, disrespecting her beyond belief. Gertrude, Hamlet s
mother, is married to Claudius, King Hamlet s brother, and this frustrates Hamlet. Hamlet lashes out at
Gertrude for this marriage, being mistreated by her own son. In Hamlet, both main characters are
portrayed as objects with little to no significance and are treated with no respect by their male
counterparts. Ophelia, Hamlet s lustful partner, is shown the most disrespect throughout the play.
Ophelia s whole life is centered around her father, and the play allows Ophelia no mind of her own;
instead it has her minding her father s precepts (Johnson 111). This is supported by the text when she
says, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.113). She just tries to please her father. Ophelia
admits to Polonius that she has a relationship with Hamlet and he exclaims, In few, Ophelia,/ Do not
believe his vows (1.3.135 136). He wants her to have nothing to do with Hamlet and she simply
obeys. One things is clear to her auditors, however: whatever she is saying, it relates to her father
(Johnson 112). This is one of many mistreatments she gets by men in the play. Hamlet and Ophelia are
having a lustful relationship where the love between them is not mutual, where Ophelia loves him, but
Hamlet does not reciprocate. In the beginning of the play, Ophelia receives a letter from Hamlet which
says, Doubt thou the stars are fire,/ Doubt that the sun doth move,/ Doubt truth to be a liar,/ But never
doubt I love./ O dear Ophelia, I am ill at these numbers. I have not /art to reckon my groans, but that I

Holocaust And Holocaust Analysis
In Legend the republics goverment was messed up where they kill there own people. In The Holocaust
Hitler and the other Nazis killed Jews because they where different. In The Holocaust the citizens had
to hide to survive the German goverment. In Legend the Day had to hide from the goverment to
survive from being killed. In both books it all depended if you had good or bad genes. In both Legend
and during the Holocaust, people had to hide in order to survive. Vladek hid in underground bunkers
and anywhere else he could find and Day hid anywhere could find also. June used disguises to hid to
blend in with people from the lake sector and Vladek used them to hide from the government. Shop

was if you where a Jew with money or not. In Legend they used the people from the poor sector for

and Legend they had good and bad genes. In The Holocaust they had Jews with bad genes and
Germans where good genes. In Legend the people in the poor sector had bad genes and rich sector had
good genes. They said good genes make good soldiers as where in Legend the rich people where
always soldiers and in The Holocaust all Germans made good soldiers. They both thin the heard of the
poor people. In Legend they killed people from the poor sector every day and in The Holocaust they
killed Jews in large groups. In Legend and The Holocaust the people had to survive on there own in
order to survive the goverments. Almost everyone was getting lied to about what really happened and
the ones who knew must be killed. I liked the book because it was about people living off the radar of
the goverment and having to survive on there

Racism By Kwame Anthony Appiah Summary
Racism will always be an issue and will always be considered inevitable due to society. Racism is said
to be morally wrong because no one is born racist, they are taught. The ideals of a group are thought to
be forms of extrinsic racism which lead to morally problematic intentions. Utilitarianism is ultimately
the one way to prevent the consequences and effects of racism, as Kantian ethics follow it up by
defining its moral rule. Kwame Anthony Appiah s article Racisms , claims racism to be a view of
racialism which are the heritable characteristics, possessed by the members of our species, that allow
us to divide them into smaller sets of races... these races share certain traits... (Appiah). Appiah argues
that humans need a definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these racist are unable to give up beliefs that motivate their special advantages they gain in
the social order. They are ignorant to the evidence that belittles their beliefs and attitudes. They resist
the truth when they realize that this can actually take advantage of them, belittling them and their
claims. This isn t always the case as some black people internalized these negative claims and utilized
them to be their best virtue in their own interest. The evidence presented to the extrinsic racist helps
against the theoretical propositions, as it all relies on the person s deductive and inductive reasoning to
the dominant group. They are not able to to make moral distinctions without putting their moral
difference aside. Extrinsic racism is the most common form of racism as it used to cause harm to see
them independently morally flawed. They are proposed to be both moral and theoretical, but
ultimately draw false claims to the view of extrinsic racism.
All in all, we have an obligation to end racism due to its negative effects and consequences. The ideal
form of constitutional rights has dismantled itself amongst the division of race. Now that minorities
are becoming the majority, it is necessary for everyone to obtain every right found in the constitution.
It is all built on hatred and abhorrence. The obligation to stop it is due to racial discrimination, which
violates the fundamental rights that people have as human beings. It is

Skellig Essay Questions
Skellig Essay
Analyse the themes of imagination, belief and disbelief in the novel.
Skellig, a novel by David Almond, is something rare; something that encapsulates the fleeting nature
of childhood. Almond uses many different literary techniques to achieve this, and I will be focusing on
and discussing three of the most prominent: imagination, belief and disbelief, throughout my essay.
Using these themes as a base, Almond incorporates many controversial topics into the book, making a
statement about his own beliefs and disbeliefs, and leaves the rest up to the reader s imagination.
Imagination takes its hold in the reader s brain from page one, and continues to keep the readers mind
on edge all the way through to the very last page. A true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of this is Mina s strong opposition towards going to school See how school shutters you,
She said. I m drawing, painting, reading, looking. I m feeling the sun and the air on my skin. I m
listening to the blackbird s song. I m opening my mind. Ha! School! (Page 58). Mina is a character
who has an abundance of opinions, someone who fills her conversations with poetry, and things she
has learnt. She is the one who teaches Michael about the Archaeopteryx, about sculpting, drawing,
William Blake, and about friendship. As Michael and Mina have to choose to believe their eyes when
they see Skellig s true form, and to keep helping him without any parental or adult supervision What is
he? I said. We can t know. Sometimes we just have to accept that there are things that we can t know.
Why is your sister ill? Why did my father die? She held my hand. Sometimes we think we should be
able to know everything. But we can t. We have to allow ourselves to see what there is to see, and we
have to imagine. (Page 140). Michael s parents have to believe that their baby will get better. Coot has
to believe that Michael will come back to him and play sports as they used to, and Grace has to
believe that her son will finally visit her in

Proximate Cause Of Car Accident
The diver s injury from a defective steering wheel meets proximate cause. According to Melvin and
Katz (2015), proximate cause is met when a breach of duty occurs in the closest proximity of the
incident and without an unforeseen event that cancels out liability. In the case of the accident,
proximate cause is met because a motorist being involved in an accident is not an unreasonable
occurrence. In addition, the steering wheel manufacturer is held at a strict liability due to the
manufacturing of goods for consumers. According to Stewart (2016), a manufacturer is liable for
injuries when the product is proven defective and is unreasonably dangerous. For example, in West v.
Caterpillar Tractor Co., Inc., West, who was a dealer of Caterpillar s products, claimed that because
manufacturers imply their products are safe, the manufacturer holds the burden of liability. Moreover,
the plaintiff must prove the manufacturer s relationship to the defective product, the dangerous
condition, and proximate cause of related injuries. In the case of the driver suing the manufacturer of
the steering mechanism, the plaintiff must prove the manufacturer produced the defective mechanism,
the reason the mechanism caused the injury, and proximate cause. A likely defense from the
manufacturer will be the cause of the motorist s accident. However, vehicle accidents are not outside
the scope of a likely event; therefore, the plaintiff will have a strong case.
Question 2: A tenant hurts herself falling down defective steps. The tenant sues the landlord s
insurance company, alleging that they knew the steps were defective but insured him anyway, thus
discouraging him from fixing them.
The tenant s injury is does not meet proximate cause to the insurance company s product.
According to Melvin and Katz (2015), proximate cause relates to the nearest breach of duty associated
with the harm. In other words, the acts of intervening negligence from the landlord exempts the
insurance company s proximate cause, thus causing liability to fall upon the landlord. Moreover, the
property owner s duties include notifying guests of hazards, duty to inspect, and duty to repair defects.
Various state laws require property owners certain

Elkay Plumbing Products Division
Summary:
Background: Elkay was the American largest manufacturer of stainless steel residential sinks which
extended its scope into various kinds of products with only a few competitors. Its Plumbing Products
Division produced different level and priced sinks in three plants separately based on different process
requirements and characters of products and further invented itself to become the industry s innovator.
Elkay s main market included North America and selected international markets. In 2007, Elkay s
main outlet market begun to collapse; prices of raw materials increased sharply; Chinese competitors
began to encroach on its low end and threaten its relationships with key customers together with its
pricing pressure from retailers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, it wrongly allocated its indirect costs at volume bases. The use of process technology
mentioned in the case led to an increase in factory overheads Since direct labor hours was not a cost
driver of them, allocating its large proportion of fixed factory overheads and other indirect batch level
costs on the basis of DLHs in this cost system did not accurately measure how resources were being
used. As a result, these inaccurate allocations would have significant costs to Elkay. Moreover, it
disregarded its cost structure in which most costs were fixed that would not vary in the short run and
should be allocated based on its practical capacity. By using the actual sales volume as the allocation
base for allocating its large corporate overheads, this standard costing system in fact over pricing its
products for its actual productivity was lower than the practical capacity under the intense
competition. As a consequence of all problem within the standard costing system, PPD urgently
needed an accurate costing system.
Indeed, PPD had ever tried to solve these problems by developing a simple Excel based ABC model.
Whereas, due to the difficulties of implementing and maintaining it; the incompatibility with other
control systems; managers lack of awareness of the benefit of ABC system and employees worried
about headcount. The

Decrease Of Honey Bees
The honeybee as a pollinator has a huge influence to not only the agriculture, but the agriculture
around the world as well. These bees play a huge role in food production, although the decline in
pollination will take a huge toll on not only food production, however the human race as well. The
believed cause of this decrease is believed to be from the insecticides farmers use on their plants and a
deadly parasite that kills bees in their own hive.
The decrease in honeybee colonies began in 2006 2007 winter, when American honeybee farmers
noticed bees and queen bees were dying at alarming rates, producing less honey and not pollinating as
frequent. ( Colony Collapse Disorder ). The main believed cause for the loss of so many bees are
pesticides,

  • 2. The Two Chinese Philosophies Of Confucianism The two Chinese philosophies of Legalism and Confucianism could not be more opposite. Even though two of the writers of Legalism were students of Xinzu, a philosopher of Confucianism, there are more of differences than similarities between the two. Because of this, legalism, which preceded the concept of Confucianism, had a lot of reasons why Confucianism was considered wrong. While towards the fall of the Qin Dynasty, Confucian beliefs started to revamp and become more widely accepted and thus they were blended together to some extent, this was not the case beforehand, in fact it could be argued that blending the two together seemed almost impossible. Confucianism stressed the ideas of the knowledge, humaneness, and filial piety while legalism stressed power, rewards and punishments, and agricultural wealth. Thus from a legalist standpoint, Confucianism was considered wrong because it placed value on virtues instead of the laws, focusing on education to prosper growth and moral character instead of simply obeying societal laws and valuing agricultural wealth rather than humaneness Thus differences far exceed similarities between these two ancient beliefs. However, both have made everlasting marks on Chinese culture and tradition that to this day still exists. Here is my suggestion for a more succinct and focused intro, deleting what you have above: The two Chinese philosophies of Legalism and Confucianism could not be more opposite. These steps are: 1) Identification, 2) Authentication, 3) Authorization, and 4) Accountability. It is vital to integrate these four steps into any network intended to be secure. Properly configured a secured network will be able to protect itself from attacks like PW hacking, DDOS attacks, brute force attacks, and insiders abusing their system rights (internal and external). Identification is the first of the four steps in this process. Any user that expects to gain access to a system referred to as a supplicant, and the tool that every user who gains entry to the network, referred to as an Identifier. The identifier can have many different methods for identifying the supplicant. The identifier should be able to locate the users credentials from a database of unique information that determines the supplicants identity. The most common form of verification is done using the employees first and last name. In most companies, they are no longer using the employee s Social Security number to identify them in their system. They are replacing them with an employee ID. For instance, trapping lies at the heart of the First Nation s distinct society issue. Before I talk about the present, however, I would like to discuss whether trapping should have been illegal when Canada was first being settled in the 17th and 18th centuries. When the first explorers came to the new world, it was regarded as a huge slab of worthless rock standing between Europe and the riches of the Orient. The only reason these explorers even explored this continent was the hope of finding the North West passage, a route to the Orient. Fortunately, while searching for this North West ... Some just gave their furs to the highest bidder. The relationship with the Indians was more than just a trade agreement. The wars of the Indians were the wars of the French. Now, imagine what would happen if one day, an Indian came to a Frenchman and offered him a pelt. The Frenchman tells the Indian that not only will he not buy it, but no Frenchman in New France will. Not only that, trapping furs in the forests belonging to the French was not allowed. The relationships with the Indians which had taken so long to establish would be shattered in days. The Indians would probably recognize the French as their enemies. Now not only the enemies of the Indian friends of the French would attack them, but also their friends . Settlers would again become afraid to come to New France because of the fierce Indian attacks. The French colony in New France would cease to exist. Therefore, I think trapping should have been legal then. Now that I have talked about fur trapping then, I ll talk about it now. Unfortunately, it is much more complicated now. Animal rights activists have told us that it is wrong to kill an animal for its fur. I strongly agree with this opinion, especially since man made fur is so accessible. Over the ensuing weeks, the world watched in horror as a natural disaster transformed into a man made catastrophe: fail safes failed, cooling systems shut down, nuclear rods melted, communications broke down, hazardous radioactive exposures and contamination occurred, and masses of people were displaced. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To summarize, after the earthquake, the initial shutdown of Fukushima s reactors went according to plan; the real problem was when the second wave of the tsunami struck. A fifty feet high wave easily surged over the seawall, destroying seawater pumps and drowning the plant s electrical system and power panels. This rendered the emergency backup generators unusable and lead to a station blackout. Without any power to run the pumps and valves needed to provide a steady flow of cooling water, the radioactive fuel would overheat, the remaining water would boil away, and the core would proceed inexorably toward a meltdown. (p. 12) Serious communication problems between TEPCO [Tokyo Electric Power Company, operator of the plant] and the multilayered Japanese government and its huge nuclear bureaucracy hampered recovery efforts in the hours that followed the nuclear crisis. On paper, all these duties and responsibilities may have seemed clear. In practice, however, the system proved unworkable. However that growth was slowing and was starting to reverse from a strong 25% in 2005 to a weak 5.2% in 2006 and into negative territory 2007 and beyond. The concept of demand forecasting more accurately measures and predicts the changes and opportunities in the supply chain. Based on the case, there were two fundamental changes to standardize and improve the accuracy of forecasts. The first area was to switch the focus of the focus of the forecasting process from sell in to sell through . This meant tracking closely what was sold in one region and shipped from another made forecasting market demand a more accurate exercise. The second area centered on ignoring capacity constraints to estimate demand. In the past, forecasting was affected by perceptions of present and future supply chain capacity . These forecasts were critical to the success of the company s refocused financial strategy. To accomplish this, there was high priority and core interest to align the master production schedule through the improvement of the demand planning process. This included the Redesign Project which among other things focused on the implementation of a decision support system (DSS) to create a more accurate MPS that can be published more frequently. Throughout the article the Globe Editors mention the expanding circle of rights, the circle includes the civil rights movement, gender equality, rights for the disabled, 18 year olds to vote, single mothers and adoptive parents. It is apparent that the right for gay marriage should occur ( Globe A18).These advances have occurred with the help of court cases. The 1967 supreme court case and Loving V. Virginia Court rulings ruled that the ban on interracial marriage was unconstitutional ( Globe A18). Along with the court precedents The Globe uses Hillary Goodridge as an example when she was unable to see her newly born daughter in the hospital because she was not married to her partner of 15 years. (A18). The Editors discuss opposing reasons why gay marriage should not be legalized by the Massachusetts Attorney General. One argument the attorney general makes is that marriage is, ...A social institution designed to promote child bearing and rearing (A18). The Globe the refutes this statement because same sex couples are not denied the right to adopt as well as they do the everyday things an opposite sex couple would do (A18). According to Jean Piaget s cognitive developmental theory children use their brain to think, reason, and remember. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another feature that children display during this stage is animism. In other words children believe that inanimate objects such as toys and stuffed animals have human feelings and intentions. Piaget believed that by age seven children are no longer egocentric because they can now see more than just their own point of view. It is important that teachers, who use Piaget s theory to teach, design a classroom in which these theories can be focused on. In the layout below you will see a design of a classroom that aligns with Piaget s theory and we will discuss some activities that can be used in the classroom to help children develop in their learning. This classroom is designed to promote growth and development so that young children can express themselves while learning about the world around them. There will be several centers where the children will be able to explore and learn through play both alone and in groups. The design provides quiet areas for activities such as napping and reading and activity areas where they can take part in dramatic play and construction. It is important that the classroom be print rich, so everything in the class will be labeled with words and pictures this will help promote growth in language skills (Funk, n.d.). The classroom design chosen allows easy access for students to move freely without being overcrowded. Continuous physical and psychological battles erupted during World War II. It proposed many breaks in the gender expectations of the 19th century that led to its label of culturally unacceptable . Ibsen strategically reveals the negative effects of these expectations in a way that elicits guilt from the audience rather than confronting them directly. He renders the closing scene of the play ironic to create a critical tone of this aspect of Norwegian culture. Torvald claims that the key to success in their marriage as well as the answer to Nora s anxiety ... is to be open, frank, and honest with me (pg. 109). The audience finds out, however, in the following scene, that when Nora finally opens up to Torvald about the way she has felt through their marriage, he is offended and confused. This reveals that gender expectations have warped Torvald s ideas of truth and moral correctness so that he could not possibly accept something that is outside these bounds as truth. It is this warped perception that leads to Torvald s moral dissonance later in this scene when he has trouble accepting the things that Nora is telling him. At one point in Nora s speech, Torvald had to make an attempt at [regaining his composure] (pg.115), revealing that he had been taken off guard and bewildered by a problem that he thought he had to solve yet again. It is a term that defines people s rights and it helps people to behave independently. Freedom that is mostly expressed in the language of rights determines people s acts as long as it respects the rights of other individuals. Self respect and intelligence are also derived from being free. Kurt Vonnegut wrote a story named Harrison Bergeron (1962) which demonstrates the importance of freedom and being free. • 20. Narrative Is The Representation Of An Event Or Series Of... Plainly, a narrative is the representation of an event or series of events. However, questionably, a first person narrative holds far more significance as it acts as a personal mechanism that is used to define oneself. This may be referred to as a self narrative, Ibarra, H. and Barbulescu, R. 2010 refer to this to describe a story that is informative of the speaker. It is human nature to create narratives that represent ourselves and where we stand in society. These constructions allow us to connect and identify with society as well as bind ourselves to an institution. They are a mode of making sense of the world. As explained by Kerby, (1991) our sense of self is a product of the stories we tell ourselves and others. In this essay I will explore different functions of narratives including the constant need for humans to forge narratives to identify themselves. With particular reference to how we relate to other people in order to feel part of a group, including how this changes through different strata s of society, such as of varying age. I will draw on theories such as: Greima s (1996) actantial model, Labov s (1992) structure of oral narratives, narrative theory and Person environment fit theory. Successful narrative have three features. Firstly, temporality, a chronological sequence of events. This is the aspect that represents a flow of events. In this section I conclude that rational choice theory has indeed developed advanced methodologies at telling us how rational agents should behave. Then in my second section I will show, using the empirical case of the free rider problem and collective action, as well as the case of suicide terrorism, that rational choice theory cannot adequately account for actual political phenomena. In my third section I will provide some reasons for why this is the case. Finally, in my concluding section I will posit a theoretical framework incorporating some refinements to the assumptions behind rational choice theory that would better aid a predictive (but not universalist) political science. What is Rational Choice Theory? Rational choice theory is actually more than one theory per se, but the basic similarities among its variants mean that they can be intelligibly amalgamated for the purposes of critiquing its implementation in political science. Therefore public choice theory, positive political science, rational actor models, and the economic approach to politics, among others, refer to what we may call rational choice theory for the purposes of this essay. Even though the goals of these philosophies were similar, like their beliefs about man and society; their ideas were a little bit different and each had their own focus. It is the ultimate reality and that everything is one despite the differences in appearances. They believed that life is good, there was an emphasis on the body, and the goal was to gain balance in life. They had a good view on women. They were generally equal to men and highly spoken of in the teachings. Taoism believes in the concept of the Yin and the Yang. This concept is that two halves, two opposites, make a whole. It is a balance, equilibrium of wholeness. The Yin is the dark side, while the Yang is the light side. We can see this balance every day in life. Like the day and the night, a man and a woman. There cannot be one without the other. Absence of light creates darkness; absence of heat makes it cold. When there are beautiful things, the ugly ones come out. And when there is good, there is also bad. One thing defines and complements the other. They coexist by opposing each other. Yet, nothing is completely Yang and nothing is completely Yin. One is the starting point of the other. They are interdependent to be complete. When one increases, the other one decreases. This is how they maintain the overall balance. For a child, Social Security looks at how his or her disability affects everyday life. Individuals monthly SSI benefit amounts are also affected by their income, resources, and living arrangements. The more income you have, the less your SSI payment will be. If your income is over the allowable limit, you cannot receive SSI. Summary This podcast takes an thought provoking take on how we talk about girls. It describes how we talk about girls in such a way that we automatically set them up to fail. • 40. Gertrude And Ophelia And Hamlet Character Analysis Imagine being told that you are loved, and then are treated like you are worth nothing. This is a reality for the women in Hamlet written by William Shakespeare; Gertrude and Ophelia. Women in the 1600s were seen as objects with no value and were only there for the convenience of the male in their life. Gertrude and Ophelia are the only two female characters in the play, and there are many males in the play that treat them with disrespect. Hamlet is the big offender of these two women in the play. The relationship between Ophelia and Hamlet is confusing because it goes back and forth, where Hamlet loves Ophelia, to where he never loved her, disrespecting her beyond belief. Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, is married to Claudius, King Hamlet s brother, and this frustrates Hamlet. Hamlet lashes out at Gertrude for this marriage, being mistreated by her own son. In Hamlet, both main characters are portrayed as objects with little to no significance and are treated with no respect by their male counterparts. Ophelia, Hamlet s lustful partner, is shown the most disrespect throughout the play. Ophelia s whole life is centered around her father, and the play allows Ophelia no mind of her own; instead it has her minding her father s precepts (Johnson 111). This is supported by the text when she says, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.113). She just tries to please her father. Ophelia admits to Polonius that she has a relationship with Hamlet and he exclaims, In few, Ophelia,/ Do not believe his vows (1.3.135 136). He wants her to have nothing to do with Hamlet and she simply obeys. One things is clear to her auditors, however: whatever she is saying, it relates to her father (Johnson 112). This is one of many mistreatments she gets by men in the play. Hamlet and Ophelia are having a lustful relationship where the love between them is not mutual, where Ophelia loves him, but Hamlet does not reciprocate. In the beginning of the play, Ophelia receives a letter from Hamlet which says, Doubt thou the stars are fire,/ Doubt that the sun doth move,/ Doubt truth to be a liar,/ But never doubt I love./ O dear Ophelia, I am ill at these numbers. I have not /art to reckon my groans, but that I love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Racism By Kwame Anthony Appiah Summary Racism will always be an issue and will always be considered inevitable due to society. Racism is said to be morally wrong because no one is born racist, they are taught. The ideals of a group are thought to be forms of extrinsic racism which lead to morally problematic intentions. Utilitarianism is ultimately the one way to prevent the consequences and effects of racism, as Kantian ethics follow it up by defining its moral rule. Kwame Anthony Appiah s article Racisms , claims racism to be a view of racialism which are the heritable characteristics, possessed by the members of our species, that allow us to divide them into smaller sets of races... these races share certain traits... Many of these racist are unable to give up beliefs that motivate their special advantages they gain in the social order. They are ignorant to the evidence that belittles their beliefs and attitudes. They resist the truth when they realize that this can actually take advantage of them, belittling them and their claims. This isn t always the case as some black people internalized these negative claims and utilized them to be their best virtue in their own interest. The evidence presented to the extrinsic racist helps against the theoretical propositions, as it all relies on the person s deductive and inductive reasoning to the dominant group. They are not able to to make moral distinctions without putting their moral difference aside. Extrinsic racism is the most common form of racism as it used to cause harm to see them independently morally flawed. They are proposed to be both moral and theoretical, but ultimately draw false claims to the view of extrinsic racism. All in all, we have an obligation to end racism due to its negative effects and consequences. The ideal form of constitutional rights has dismantled itself amongst the division of race. Now that minorities are becoming the majority, it is necessary for everyone to obtain every right found in the constitution. It is all built on hatred and abhorrence. The obligation to stop it is due to racial discrimination, which violates the fundamental rights that people have as human beings. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Skellig Essay Questions Skellig Essay Analyse the themes of imagination, belief and disbelief in the novel. Skellig, a novel by David Almond, is something rare; something that encapsulates the fleeting nature of childhood. Almond uses many different literary techniques to achieve this, and I will be focusing on and discussing three of the most prominent: imagination, belief and disbelief, throughout my essay. Using these themes as a base, Almond incorporates many controversial topics into the book, making a statement about his own beliefs and disbeliefs, and leaves the rest up to the reader s imagination. Imagination takes its hold in the reader s brain from page one, and continues to keep the readers mind on edge all the way through to the very last page. A true ... • 44. Proximate Cause Of Car Accident The diver s injury from a defective steering wheel meets proximate cause. According to Melvin and Katz (2015), proximate cause is met when a breach of duty occurs in the closest proximity of the incident and without an unforeseen event that cancels out liability. In the case of the accident, proximate cause is met because a motorist being involved in an accident is not an unreasonable occurrence. In addition, the steering wheel manufacturer is held at a strict liability due to the manufacturing of goods for consumers. According to Stewart (2016), a manufacturer is liable for injuries when the product is proven defective and is unreasonably dangerous. For example, in West v. Caterpillar Tractor Co., Inc., West, who was a dealer of Caterpillar s products, claimed that because manufacturers imply their products are safe, the manufacturer holds the burden of liability. Moreover, the plaintiff must prove the manufacturer s relationship to the defective product, the dangerous condition, and proximate cause of related injuries. In the case of the driver suing the manufacturer of the steering mechanism, the plaintiff must prove the manufacturer produced the defective mechanism, the reason the mechanism caused the injury, and proximate cause. A likely defense from the manufacturer will be the cause of the motorist s accident. However, vehicle accidents are not outside the scope of a likely event; therefore, the plaintiff will have a strong case. Question 2: A tenant hurts herself falling down defective steps. The tenant sues the landlord s insurance company, alleging that they knew the steps were defective but insured him anyway, thus discouraging him from fixing them. The tenant s injury is does not meet proximate cause to the insurance company s product. According to Melvin and Katz (2015), proximate cause relates to the nearest breach of duty associated with the harm. In other words, the acts of intervening negligence from the landlord exempts the insurance company s proximate cause, thus causing liability to fall upon the landlord. Moreover, the property owner s duties include notifying guests of hazards, duty to inspect, and duty to repair defects. Various state laws require property owners certain ... Its Plumbing Products Division produced different level and priced sinks in three plants separately based on different process requirements and characters of products and further invented itself to become the industry s innovator. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, it wrongly allocated its indirect costs at volume bases. The use of process technology mentioned in the case led to an increase in factory overheads Since direct labor hours was not a cost driver of them, allocating its large proportion of fixed factory overheads and other indirect batch level costs on the basis of DLHs in this cost system did not accurately measure how resources were being used. As a result, these inaccurate allocations would have significant costs to Elkay. Moreover, it disregarded its cost structure in which most costs were fixed that would not vary in the short run and should be allocated based on its practical capacity. By using the actual sales volume as the allocation base for allocating its large corporate overheads, this standard costing system in fact over pricing its products for its actual productivity was lower than the practical capacity under the intense competition. As a consequence of all problem within the standard costing system, PPD urgently needed an accurate costing system.
