HOW TO TEACH LARGE GROUPS
By
Katty Mena
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
When you get to the class are you afraid of having
lots of kids in a room?
 How do you introduce yourself to the class?
 Did you bring any tool to support you? ( a game, a
song, a riddle…)
 Are you clear about what to do?
 Can you set rules and be friendly at the same time?
 Can you get students attention ?

GROUPS CHARACTERISTICS


Take your time and look around your class. Detect
what catches your students´ attention.



Is it the games, coloring, pair work?



Get your conclusions based on the group
characteristics.
HOW DO YOU EXPECT YOUR CHILDREN TO
TREAT YOU?
What do you want the class to be like?
 How would you reach your daily goals?
 What are you going to do to persuade child´s
behavior in class?
 Do you feel comfortable when teaching and
interacting with children in class?
 How are going to show yourself to the kids? (
natural as you are or focused only on being their
teacher )

NOW…..
Can you tell what your classroom is like?
 What are their goods and bad?
 How would you overcome possible obstacles when
teaching those kids?
 What do you need to take into account when
planning you lesson for that group?
 How are you going to act in front of the group?

Once you have all your answers, you would know how to
get started teaching contents.
 But some advises I can give to teach large groups are:










Work on posters
Have everyone repeating at the same time
Bring videos or movies
Work in groups
Ask students to relate topics already studied with the new
contents
Use songs, and mimics students can easily perform
HOPE THIS CAN HELP YOU!!

Thank

you!!
