Basic Principle Of Risk Assessment
3.4 Risk Assessment
Risk assessment can be defined as the process of evaluating the risks to safety and health arising from
hazards at work. The results of risk assessment is documented and the purpose of risk assessment used
for risk control in Occupational Safety and Health management and reference for future review.
3.4.1 Basic Principle of Risk Management
Risk management is the process of identifying, evaluating and prioritization of risks to minimize the
hazards. Risk management is also part of planning for all levels of business. Risk management
included all type of risks. The risk management helps all parties make appropriate decision according
to the level of risk. Basically, risk management can be defined as manage the risk.

Routine and non routine activities should be examined through risk assessment. All activities which
related to personnel having access to the workplace must be safely. It is including subcontractors and
visitors. In addition, the facilities at the workplace provided by organization or others should be assess
in order to ensure all parties are in risk free environment.
3.4.3 When to Carry Out Risk Assessment
Risk assessment should be carried out in all work activities. In general, risk assessment should carry
out before operation, during the operation and after operation. By carry out the assessment in all work
activities, it is effective to preventing any incidents.
First, before work and operation starts, it is necessary to do assessment for all the possible risks to
ensure employees is under protected and safe mode. For example, the equipment and work procedures
should be checked whether itfulfillsthe requirements.
However, assessment has been checked before operation, it is necessary to reassess the work activities
during the operation. During the operation, the equipment may damage due to others situation. For
example, the employer should conduct a risk assessment to identify the employees risk cause by

Panzihua Murder Story
Auff What did you find? Panzihua. What? Do you remember the sign on the green barrel, the name of
the nearby city. Well, most of the production is going there, and I guess why. There is a lot of attention
around those barrels. This is for the green barrels. But what about the yellow ones? What about the
Xeron? They burn it. Burn? Why so? Don t know, but what is inside the yellow barrels, always
guarded by armed men, is burnt in a kind of... big oven. Mosi and Siro didn t understand. Why protect
something that you have decided to burn? More: what was the real business about the trucks going to

Middle School Special Education Essay
One of the most major questions for educational advocates as regards middle school Special
Education students is whether and how much they are included in regular class. It is virtually
impossible to tell if this policy should be adopted in general: Current legislation supports the concept
of including students with disabilities in the general education classroom but leaves many wondering,
Is this approach working? Determining the effectiveness of this practice is a task not easily
accomplished. The term...is not found in any law and is used inconsistently..Inclusive programs differ
greatly from district to district... [A]mount and nature of support provided to the regular classroom

for this reform approach is one of justice. Disability students should be in classes with their able

The reform to a more integrated classroom is a fact of life, for better or for worse, so it is the goal of
educators to find a way to make this new integrated classroom beneficial for both Special Education
and main track students (Hines, 2010). Curriculum design should be inclusive or differential based on
the real needs of local communities, not abstract political principles. A district that only has thirty
disability students among six hundred students could certainly afford to distribute Special Education
students among the classrooms; one with a hundred Special Education students in a two thousand
student middle school, on the other hand, might see a benefit at having separate classes due to the
disparate needs of such a wide student

Contemporary Public Schools Case Study Essay
Case Study
Mrs. Smith is an 8th grade English teacher at Holdrum Middle School, in Pikesville, MD. She is an
excellent, dedicated teacher committed to her school and her students. One day during her last class of
the day she was busy working with a group of students facing the back of the class. When the bell
rang to leave, students grabbed their belongings as usual and walked out of the classroom. Mrs. Smith
noticed Jose Morales, a child new to the school, left the classroom very fast without a word. This was
unusual for him. A little later, when packing up her materials to leave, Mrs. Smith realized that her

Isopod Prioritization
The data generated in this experiment is insufficient to reject the null hypothesis. As a result, we
cannot ascertain a statistically significant trend involving isopod prioritization between foraging
behaviors and predator avoidance mechanisms in environments with elevated levels of predation risk.
Even though the experiment produced statistically insignificant data, an interesting biological trend
emerged during the final sampling intervals of the experiment. As the experiment progressed, an
increased number of isopods in both treatments started to cross the mesocosms to forage for
particulate organic matter. This observation clearly exemplified the prioritization of foraging over
predation risk. While this observation was important to note, there is a larger biological underpinning
present in the connection and comparison between the experimental and the control treatments. In ...

First, using a larger sample will increase the probability of getting statically significant results that are
essential to draw insightful conclusions. Adding experimental treatments that include dead
conspecifics will not only be instrumental in investigating the precedence of different chemical cues in
isopods predator avoidance, but also in ascertaining additional factors that determine the extent to
which isopods maintain a balance between foraging and predator avoidance. Moreover, reducing the
food availability to both the crayfish and isopods before conducting the experiment will elevate both
the chemical cue for the presence of a hungry predator and the isopods intrinsic need to forage. All in
all, future research that incorporates the above recommendations will minimize sampling error,
increase the probability of obtaining statistically significant results, and shed light on new evidence
about the precedence of various chemical cues and intrinsic cues in isopods decision making

The National Coal Mining Museum is based at the site of Caphouse Colliery in Overton; once a fully
functioning mine. The museum has an area, 140 meters underground, which has been adapted to
demonstration the development and revolution in mining techniques through out the ages. It presents
mining techniques from the early 19th century all the way through to the present day. The museum
also houses an array of mining machinery and vehicles that has been conserved since its use, which
are kept in a gallery above ground. Such machinery includes locomotives, BJD coal cutters, and a
seventeen tonne Dosco Roadheader that was used to cut roadways underground. (National Coal
Mining Museum, 2014)
Equipment Types
Coal had been in use far long before the 19th century, however, the arrival of the industrial revolution
saw a boom in the demand for coal and as a result coal mining became an enormous and lucrative
industry. Nonetheless, the equipment used in the early 19th century was still exceptionally primitive
and working conditions were also very harsh.

Overview
When Gordon Bethune left his job at Boeing in February 1994 to accept the position of chief
operating officer (COO) of Continental Airlines, the company was struggling to survive. Even though
it was the fifth largest commercial airline in the United States, with revenues of nearly 6 billion
dollars, the company had reported a net loss every year since 1985, and was ranked the last among the

To turn around what was happening in Continental, Bethune developed what later became known as
the Plan for Progress. It consisted of four parts a marketing plan to fly on more profitable routes, a
financial plan to achieve the company reach the black in 1995, a plan to improve product offerings for
customers Continental, and a staffing plan for transform the culture of the company. The four parts
should be implemented simultaneously and together.
The case highlights the details of the Plan for Progress and the series of administrative measures that
were implemented over the next six years to implement and run. Bethune s effort to achieve the
turning of the company became a classic.
In January 2001, Continental Airlines was named Airline of the Year by Air Transport World, a leading
magazine in the trade industry of aviation. The magazine cited the friendly culture for employees of
Continental, and reported that the company had the best working relationship between the major
transportation agencies with connections to several cities. Continental also stated that he had a
superior passenger service, especially when it came to business travelers.
In 2000 and 2001, Continental was named the second most admired airline in the United States by

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hyperplasia
Estrogen vs Progestrone
Estrogen ( the female sex hormone ) dominance happens when there is too much estrogen in the body
. For most cancers the first clinical screening involves testing of estrogen dominance . Generally
estrogen dominance is coupled with decrease in the hormone progesterone. Our body produces both
but because of various reasons there is a disturbance .When we are stressed it affects our nervous
system and along with our endocrine system. Our body produces both but once there is a disturbance
and if we continue taking estrogen rich foods we will disrupt the endocrine system more and this can
cause the risk of cancer.
Xenoestrogen / Phytoestrogen means foreign estrogen or from outside the body.
In my case I believe excess of estrogen could have been the cause of Adenomyosis or at least it can
aggravate the situation so would recommend avoiding products with xenoestrogen and including

Hyperplasia is a condition in which the lining of the uterus becomes too thick, which results in
abnormal bleeding. Hyperplasia is thought to be caused by too much estrogen.
Depending on your age and how long you have had hyperplasia, your doctor may want to do a biopsy
before beginning treatment to rule out cancer.
How is hyperplasia treated?
Hormone treatment with birth control pills or progesterone helps some women who have hyperplasia.
Hysterectomy is often recommended to treat hyperplasia. Because some types of hyperplasia can lead
to cancer, your doctor will watch your condition carefully if you choose not to have a hysterectomy.

Religious Experiences Assignment Analysis
The assignment I choose was the instructor s paper Religion and Coping: A Contribution from
Religious Studies, the section Religious Experiences . This section explains in great detail religious
experiences and it states examples. The hypothetical situation brought forth for this assignment is the
following: My friend Jane has just lost her daughter Julia, age 6. Julia was hit by a car and killed. I am
going to help Jane cope the death of her daughter through possible religious experiences. The
following below is the speech I am going to give to Jane about religious experiences and using them
to cope with the death of her daughter Julia.
These experiences could very much so help you cope with the death of Julia. I know this is going to be
hard for you since you are not religious but turning to religion in a crisis can really change the way
you perceive life. I m not telling you to attend church every Sunday or to read to bible front to back ...

Another wonderful example of a religious experience is the out of body experience with the call of
Black Elk to shamanism. Black Elk is in a Native American tribe, Sioux. He starts experiencing
visions at age 5 but it s not until age 9 that he experiences the Great Vision . This vision involves him
hearing his name being called out but he wasn t seeing anyone. He was flying among the clouds and
seeing horses. Then suddenly he hears voices saying that grandfathers are calling to him not old men
but the powers of the world. The voices were telling him that they want the powers and the mission to
restore the tribe be given to him. They want Black Elk to have the powers to destroy and to heal. Later
we find out that he does just that and the Sioux future of peace and happiness is restored. As you can

Upon his grandfather s death, it fell to Samuel to sort through former possessions. Samuel found
himself now in the dusty, cobwebbed attic of the old home, surrounded by a constellation of aged
trinkets: faded old photographs, medals and trophies from long distant contests, a plethora of dusty
and worthless relics. Samuel quickly surveyed the items, shuffling through boxes and turning the
occasional object over in his hand. It was depressing, sorting through this collection. It reminded him
of death and the ephemerality of existence. These objects had meaning once, but that meaning died

summoned me from the realm of spirits. I have awoken in order to grant you three wishes. Only when
your wishes have been granted, may I return to my slumber.
Samuel was stunned, his mind reeling as he struggled to come to grips with what he was experiencing.
Is this a dream? Am I hallucinating? When he finally got a hold of himself, he turned his attention
back to the dragon head floating before him.
What are you? Samuel asked.
I am a Djinn , the dragon answered, I exist to serve one purpose.
To grant wishes?
Yes I will grant you three wishes, the dragon repeated.
Well... Samuel thought for a moment, what can I wish for?
You may wish for anything you desire. If it is in my power, then your wish will be granted, the dragon
answered. Samuel believed the dragon.
Samuel thought long and hard. He had to be careful what he wished for. Whatever wish he made, he
had to leave no loopholes and make sure to avoid any unintended consequences. Sometimes the most
seemingly insignificant actions can have profound and unexpected consequences. Maybe it is simply
too dangerous to make any wishes, Samuel thought. Maybe no one is smart enough to ensure the
complete safety of a wish. Then an idea occurred to him. He had an idea for the perfect wish

Development And Jean Piaget s Theories For Normal Child...
Over the years people have come to discover a pattern of the way children develop from the ages of
infancy (3 12 months) to Adolescent (13 18 years). Noticing normal behavior and physical growth
along with abnormal behavior and delayed growth. Different psychologists such as Jean Piaget, Erik
Erikson, Urie Bronfenbrenner, and Lev Vygotsky have come up with their own theories for normal
child development. Let s begin with Jean Piaget, a Swiss clinical psychologist, his theory had four
stages of cognitive development. He believed each stage would show the growth of where a child s
brain should be developing at a specific period of time during their early years. In the article, Simply
Psychology, there is a video that represents Piaget s cognitive stages with different ages and certain
tasks. Piaget set out a row of counters in front of the child and asked her/him to make another row the
same as the first one. Piaget spread out his row of counters and asked the child if there were still the
same number of counters. Most children aged seven could answer this correctly, and Piaget concluded
that this showed that by seven years of age children were able to conserve number (McLeod). The first
stage was described as the Sensorimotor stage (birth 2 years); this is where the child starts learning
his/her surroundings through sensory or motor activity with its environment. The sensorimotor stage
comes with six substages throughout those 2 years. The first month includes the infant

Health And Life Of Polynesia

Polynesia is geographically categorized as the triangular area between Easter Island, New Zealand and

geographically by the Pacific Ocean, culturally they are known to have many similarities and can be
considered united rather than divided by the ocean (Capstick, Norris, Sopoaga, Tobata, 2009). When it

The Polynesian natives have decided to abandon their traditional diet for a more appealing and

A few health professionals argue that it is the lack of nutrition education that plays a main role in the
shift to such an unhealthy diet. However, Polynesian health care professionals have to disagree as they
mention that nutrition education is included in the school curriculum but it is the challenge of
converting education to behaviors. Children are being taught about how to ear properly and what are
healthy items they can choose to eat however, when they go to lunch junk food sold because the
schools know they will make a profit off the sales (World Health Organization, 2010). There are very
minimal regulations on food products in Polynesia. While people may be educated about healthy items
when it comes time to pick out foods they have another barrier as food labels vary in language
depending on where they are imported from. Majority of the Polynesian island communities speak
English or Maori. With the majority of the imported foods coming from countries such as Malaysia,
China and the Philippines, a mass amount of the food labels are not in English or Maori making it
difficult or almost impossible for people to read the nutrition content. Regulations requiring food

Phychoanalysis In Delacroix s Liberty Leading The People
While feminism and Marxism work well in hybrid approaches to Delacroix s Liberty Leading the
People, the same cannot be said for every methodology. This is especially true in regards to
psychoanalysis. It is difficult to apply this approach to an older artist like Delacroix. The methodology
is so recent and grounded in being able to converse with the artist. In the case of Delacroix, scholars
base their psychoanalytic findings on the artist s writings, both letters and journals. While this can be
useful in some cases, such as Wilkin s use of it to determine Delacroix s opinions on other artists, it is
not when trying to determine Delacroix thoughts on himself and his own art. This means the
scholarship is based on Delacroix s self fashioning. While one can speculate on the subconscious
motivations behind his writings, they simply do not add any depth to our understanding of Liberty
Leading the People. Scholars try to link psychoanalysis with biography to ground their findings, but
this only makes the biography method appear faulty and compromises readers willingness to accept
fact. Thus, psychoanalysis does not add anything substantial to the study of Delacroix s painting and
should not be used in conjunction with the hybridization of biography, formalism, or social history. An
example of a scholar trying to utilize psychoanalysis Jack J. Spector s article Delacroix s Liberty on
the Barricades in 1815 and 1830 from 1996. In this study, Spector unsuccessful tries to

Persuasive Essay On Wild Boars
Wild boars were originally brought over by the Spanish in 1539 as food aboard their ships and in the
new lands, but now they re taking over much of the US. There are an estimated five to six million wild
boars in the United States with an estimated one million in Florida alone. Spreading rapidly with no
intention of slowing down, these wild boars are causing devastation to the native environment
throughout the United States with their destructive habits. The US government has precautions put
into place to try and control aspects of the boar population, but they re negating it with regulations that
are benefiting the boars rather than the general population and native species. There are measures that
need to be put into place in order to control the wild boar population and the destruction that comes
with them.
The native Flora and Fauna of the United States is being threatened by numerous invasive species, one
of which is considered to be the most destructive. The wild boar is known to dwell in 35 states and is
costing the US an estimated $1.5 billion each year in damages. Eating almost everything it sets its
eyes on, boars dig up anything it desires to eat in a process called rooting. When a wild boar does a
rooting behavior to dig up food it destabilizes the soil surface which leads to surface erosion. The
surface erosion removes the top layer of soil that is responsible for having the richest organic matter
leading to the soil losing nutrients needed to support plant life. Wild board also feed on a large
quantity of native vegetation leaving the native plants not enough time to fully recover before being
trampled over again by the damaging heathens. Males also tusks small trees removing the bark layer
on an area of the tree in order to mark their territory and display their dominance. This tusking
behavior causing serious harm to trees and has the potential to kill the tree. There is a phloem layer
under the bark of a tree that comes up when boars do their tusking behavior. Nutrients such as water
and minerals travel up the Phloem layer of the tree from the roots to the leaves, but if the phloem layer
is removed from a portion of the tree it restricts the nutrients distributed throughout the tree and leads

travelling. I. History of airports security
The only concern within aviation was the safety of flying. Hardly any thought was put into the
security sector of the aviation industry. This changed when Peruvian revolutionaries took over a Pan
American mail plane. In the period of time from 1930 to 1958, there was 23 hijackings reported. The
first serious incident happened in 1947 when the aircrew member was killed. In 1955, Jack Graham,
placed a bomb in his mother s luggage. The bomb exploded during the flight killing all aboard. A
similar incident took place in 1960, when two suicide bomber killed all people on a board. After these
acts luggage inspection has become more exact. The majority of hijackings were made due to either
escape from the USA or hold people for a ransom. In 1961, in order to prevent hijackings, the federal
government started using armed guards on chosen aircrafts. After hijackings of planes in 1969 the

Australian Government Intervention
Australia s government has helped to intervene within the market when issues have arisen. The more
efficient allocation of resources and income is an initiative designed to assist the society.
Unfortunately, it can also cause costs to the community and market which can be seen from side
effects of their policies. The tight and loose monetary policies that are used can cause unemployment
and inflation which are both a cost for the economy. The government also imposes tariffs which
causes unfairness for consumers.
One benefit of government intervention in Australia is the more efficient allocation of resources in the

The tight monetary policy is used by the government to reduce the level of economic activity. They do
this by creating upward pressure on interest rates and reducing the money supply. The high interest
rates would reduce the demand of money therefore dampening consumer and investor spending. The
drop in aggregate demand would reduce inflation but causes an increased rate of unemployment which
is a cost to society. On the other hand, a loose monetary policy is the complete opposite where the
government is trying to increase the level of economic supply. This increases inflation for the
economy. These two policies are used alternatively to try stabilise the business cycle but they have a
cost of the increasing inflation or unemployment in the

One way students could benefit is that this schooling could provide them with an increased student
centered instructional strategy during a year round school year. These could be activities that activate
prior knowledge, hands on projects, in depth discussions, and multiple intelligences. These learning
experiences are highly effective, but they are also time consuming. On a multi track schedule, students
could also be exposed to smaller classroom sizes, which could benefit the student giving them more
time to themselves, and to their assigned teacher for extra instruction. Under a year round schedule,
the students benefit by having smaller breaks, meaning they can quickly snap back to previously
learned information. When information is stored, but not used for an extended period of time, anyone
can lose that information. Due to the shorter breaks, students may find it difficult to find a summer
job, or a job at all, but there are jobs that work with students or maybe just limit their time at the
workplace.
For students that take place in extracurricular activities, the year round schedule would mess with after
school practices or competitions. The school could work with the surrounding community to get

Compressing, Transferring and Storing Audio Data
Today s most popular solution for compressing, transferring and storing audio data is MP3 technology.
There are similar technologies for sampling and compressing audio data but MP3 remains the most
popular because it is versatile, high performing and flexible. MP3 as we know it today, is the product
of collaborations through the years by many organizations. If we had to narrow down the most
important people involved in it s development, the two most important names would be Dieter Seitzer
and Karlheinz Bradenburg. Initially, in the 1970s, Dieter Seitzer, a professor from Erlangen
Nuremberg University was researching the problem of compressing audio data for telephone line
transmission. He brought together a group of students as well as other scientists to do research and
solve this challenge. One of his students , named Karlheinz Bradenburg, proposed an idea of
exploiting the mechanism of human hearing and its limitations. Later on, in his doctoral theses,
Karlheinz Bradenburg included algorithms that were later incorporated in todays MP3 technology.
Most importantly were his method of scanning and removing sounds that were in audible to humans.
In 1988 the ISO convened and called for a standard in audio and video encoding. This call created the
Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). Contributions to the group came from various corporations,
research organizations and individual scientists. This increase of contributions and collaboration from
members of the MPEG

Amendment Of The Constitution Prohibits Cruel And Unusual...
The eighth amendment of the constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. What makes
something qualify as cruel and unusual? Killing a person certainly sounds cruel, and injecting various
chemical drugs to put to sleep and kill a person most definitely sounds unusual. The united states is
the only Major western country that still practices the death penalty. Therefore why would the death
penalty even be considered as constitutional by anyone?
Two wrongs do not make a right and making an example of the ones put to death doesn t even help
reduce violent crime. If it did slow crime there would be less of it in regions where the death penalty is
practiced, in reality the opposite is true. The south has the highest murder rate out of all

There are many reasons that one would want to be a Junior Fellow but I think that the most important
one for me is the variety of opportunities that this program opens for me. I have a deep passion for
understanding how and why it is political actors act the way that they do. I think that the Junior
Fellows program opens up the way for me to dive head first into the field of research and gain the
necessary tools to be an effective researcher. Furthermore, as a student transferring with so many
credits to the University of Florida my ability to become involved in research projects is somewhat
limited, so the Junior Fellows program offers me a great opportunity. Now as far as my specific
research interests go, they are somewhat diverse but

The Urban Revolution By V. Gordon Childe
What is an urban revolution? Why is it important for cities to have one? What are that factors that
cause these revolutions? In the articles The Urban Revolution by V.Gordon Childe, The Right to The
City by David Harvey and lastly, What Type of Public Transit for What Type of Public? by Kafui A.
Attoh, displays the different ways the residents in a city react to the social inequality and human
rights.
The Urban Revolution, written by V. Gordon Childe, is an intricate article that attempts to figure out
when, where, and why the phenomenon of cities began. The article also gives a slight description of
what a creates a city, mostly from a historical setting. Throughout the Pleistocene period, all known
human societies were savage in the foregoing sense, and a few savage tribes have survived out of the
way parts to the present day. (Childe 1950). Before the development of cities, the domination of farm
lands existed. The largest villages in prehistoric Europe, comprised of about ...52 small one roomed
dwellings, but 16 to 30 houses was a more normal figure. (Childe 1950). Something I find interesting
in the article is that due to the small demographic, everyone in the prehistoric cities or villages had to
contribute to the hunting. This was because the social surplus was not big enough to feed idle mouths.
Childe went on to say that a city has a hierarchy. He stated that a city makes investments in the
sciences and written system. One thing that stood out to me is when

Emperor Penguins Essay
The Last March of the Emperor Penguins?
Emperor penguins (Aptenodytes forsteri) in the Antarctic are fascinating flightless birds that are able
to withstand incredibly harsh environments, where wind chills can reach to 76°F. Even though these
penguins are able to survive the freezing temperatures, their breeding success and mortality rates are
based primarily on the sea ice concentration (SIC) and sea ice extent (SIE) throughout the seasons.
Sea ice concentration is a variable for climate scientists and nautical navigators to find the area of sea
ice compared to the total at a given point in the ocean, whereas sea ice extent refers to a region as ice
covered or not ice covered. During the late 1970s, there was an elongated atypical warm period with

Sea ice is a vital breeding and nursing habitat for emperor penguins, where their colonies are formed
far from the open sea. The breeding penguins, would then, go on scavenging trips throughout the
entire development and chick nurturing stages. However, during the period with thick and wide sea ice
cover, the trips become longer. Adult penguins would have to use up more energy for travel, which
will result in lower offspring provisioning and hatching success (Barbraud Weimerskirch, 2001, p.
185). Also, sea ice could influence the emperor penguin by topdown processes . Diminished sea ice
could allow access to hunting areas of the emperor penguin by potential predators, such as killer
whales (Jenouvrier et al., (2012), p. 2759). Consequently, there are no emperor penguin remains found
in killer whale diets. Nevertheless, penguins that have used up so much energy (especially males after
their 4 months fast) are vulnerable to other predators, which could result in a lower survival rate. This
predicament is mainly caused by the change of variables called sea ice concentration and sea ice

Environmental Effects Of Environmental Pollution
It is estimated that approximately 2.4 million people in the United States are affected physically by
pollution every year. Pollution is harmful substances in the air that affect the environment and
poisonous gases are released in the atmosphere. There several types of pollution, which includes:
water, land, and air pollution. All three are very harmful to Earth, and has a dangerous effect in the
end, which is included, but not limited to global warming. Pollution that is in the air can eventually
lead to health problems among humans, and can even affect the environment for Mother Nature itself,
and also animals. Respiratory and lung diseases can result from air pollution over the course of years.
Water pollution effects aquatic animals, which are consumed by humans, and could lead to even
bigger problems overall. Pollution over land can lead to major problems with the soil and groundwater
used to grow these plants, which are also food that is consumed for the human, animal, and insect
population.
The air that we breathe is a mix of gases that encircles the Earth s crust. Those gases known as
nitrogen and oxygen are the two gases that makes up twenty one percent of the atmosphere, and are
known as permanent gases. When that gas go through some type of contraction, it is known to be
carbon dioxide and water vapor, and that s what assist the cycle and growth of plants, photosynthesis
overall, and burning of fossils fuels (Harris, ).
According to the Salem Encyclopedia, air pollution comes from natural and human made resources.
Natural made resources would be pollen from plants that are released and usually causes allergy for
humans, which could result in seriousness. Pollen is the most common causes in allergy in the United
States as of today. It is produced naturally by trees, flowers, grass, and weeds. When the body notice
pollen in the system, it reacts as if pollen is a harmful substance, and when that happens, an allergic
reaction occurs. Some other natural sources are gases and the after substances that come from volcano,
dust, and decomposing matter. Man made resources would include automobiles, airplanes, and
airborne viruses. Global warming is affected greatly by carbon dioxide which is known as the

Research Paper On Jerry Sandusky
Sexual Abuse is unwanted sexual behavior by an individual using force, threats or any other violent
acts. Many sexual abuse victims do not report to authorities. Children are the most vulnerable
involving sexual abuse before the age of seventeen. Sexual abuse makes many individuals nauseous
about the topic and they refuse to bring it up. In fact, it scars the people who have suffered from it for
the rest of their lives. Most sexual abusers are men that the victim is very close with or in fact, looks

Honesty means to be truthful in any circumstance and all the people involved or even knew about the
scandal was not honest at all and lied when they were asked about any question regarding the
situation. Courage is the ability to do something that frightens someone to do an action and only the
grad assistant had the courage to bring the situation to the light and the people higher up decided to
keep it low and it turned out bad for them. Temperance is the moderation of physical pleasures,
especially those associated with eating, drinking, and sex. Sandusky didn t moderate his physical
pleasure and decided to get his physical pleasure from children and not the women he was married.
Justice is to be fair to all stakeholders, and it also includes hard work, good ideas, and fair practices.
Sandusky was not fair for putting his fellow co workers and university in that situation. My opinion on
the Penn State scandal I think everyone involved keeps trying to take the easy way out and deciding to
keep it low and out of the light. I applaud the grad assistant trying to stand up for the children and
bringing the situation to a person higher up in power. If they would have brought many jobs wouldn t

The Drug Created For Pregnant Women
Thalidomide was a drug created for pregnant women in 1957.It was first introduced on the market in
west Germany on October 1, 1957. It was created to help combat symptoms associated with women s
morning sickness, but it caused more harm than good. It created a worldwide epidemic. It was created
as a harmless sleeping pill. Thalidomide created many birth defects affecting 10,000 children
worldwide like phocomelia and Amelia . Thalidomide could be bought without a prescription from the
doctor in west Germany. Thalidomide was put in other markets like in the United Kingdom.
Thalidomide is now a clinically effective and strictly restricted drug and treats leprosy and multiple
myeloma.
When taken in the first trimester thalidomide prevented the proper growth of the fetus, and resulting in
a birth defect in thousands of children around the world. When taken in first world countries between
day 20 to 36 of fertilization. The child or children would be born with limb and other birth defects.
During the 1950s and 1960s the children were known as Thalidomide babies. The damage or the drug,
which manifested itself in the form of absence or severe deformation of the extremities ( arms, legs,
hands and feet) and sometimes damage to the eyes, ears and internal organs. One pill during the first
three to four months is enough to cause these birth defects.
Thalidomide did not affect all child birth, depending on when it was taken. Thalidomide did not affect
all species in the same way.

Shaping A Christian Worldview Essay
One of the ongoing struggles for the church and Christianity is with culture. Questions have always
surfaced about where we should stand on issues or whether it is permissible to isolate ourselves in all
areas of life. Shaping A Christian Worldview suggests that hiding is not the preferred option, rather it
is our duty to transform our modern culture. To do this we must be closely positioned with Scripture.
Accomplishing this keeps the Christian grounded and does not give secular culture undue stature.
Jesus taught that the salt of believers transformed by the gospel would alter the world. This idea
means that contemporary Christians must be discerners of truth in our time. Since, the process of
transforming culture requires that we know what needs to be changed and what does not. God has
entrusted us with duty to help transform under the comprehension of Biblical claims. ... Show more

God s mandate included instructions relating to the stewardship of His creation. The Bible says, God
blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule
over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the
ground (Gen. 1:28). Man, being created in God s image, is to subdue and to form a culture. The
textbook rightly points out the secularism and pluralism dominates many aspects of this worldly
culture. This has been reflected in many different ways. Much of America has lost belief in a divine
creator, which has moved us down a path of no foundation for order. Second, modern thought has
instilled a sense of individual achievement and a loss of a moral conscience where our moral norms
are absent of religion. Finally, as we have progressed in modern society, these effects have lead to a

The Importance Of Writing A Web Portfolio
For my project I chose to create a web portfolio. I chose this because I ve found that it s the best
format to showcase my various projects I ve done through the History and Communication
departments at Western. Previously I ve worked on a project similar to this for my Communication
350 class but I wanted to be able to build on what I learned to make an online portfolio more suited for
career oriented work.
In approaching this project I wanted to get several things out of it. First and foremost, I wanted to take
the time I had to create something I was genuinely proud of and get to use in real life. Additionally, I
wanted to build on my time management, reviewing, and graphic design skills. Initially, when I think
back the project was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This made me think critically about things I have done in order to decide what I thought was worthy
of a showcase. People tend to want to think that a lot of the things they do is objectively really good.
Although, sometimes that s not the case. I went through my work that I had saved from my years at
college community college and Western and picked some of my favorite samples. I left some out that
seemed irrelevant such as a few graphic design pieces from my Communication Technologies class
that were done purely for an assignment and I had no attachment to. Then, I further filtered them by
looking back at what kind of grades I got on them. For example, I liked a paper I wrote for a Hamilton
and History class last quarter. However, after being reviewed by my professor, flaws in structure and
argument were pointed out. While I like the content, the quality of the paper was lacking enough that I
decided not to display it in my portfolio. I think being able to think critically about your own work
helps you become a better producer overall. Anyone can have someone else critique something they
did but it takes an open, objective mind to be able to pick out and admit that stuff you do is not always
perfect.
Additionally, this project really challenged my attention to detail. I chose to create my site using my
own template to be more original instead of just using a pre made website and inputting my personal
information into it. This

Letter To John Downe, A Lonesome Weaver
John Downe, a lonesome weaver, writes in this passage a letter he sent to his wife overseas in England
from America. He is desperate to have his family relish in the prosperity that America provides.
Downe attempts to convince his wife with the use of hyperboles, personification and the
overstatement of the greatness of America, hoping that one day his family can join him in the newly
established United States. Downe s ultimate goal in this letter is to convince his wife that moving to
America is what is best for his family. With the use of hyperboles, he emphasizes how much his
family means to him, thus allowing his wife to realize that Downe has put a lot of thought into his
request. In lines 43 45, Downe states I would rather cross the Atlantic ten times than hear my children
cry for victuals once more. BY stating that he would cross a vast ocean multiple times so that his
children wouldn t have to worry about provisions show that he always wants the best for his family. In
lines 33 35, he explains how there is plenty of room, yet and will for a thousand years to come. This
hyperbole allows his wife to alleviate any worries about living conditions of any kind, making the
option to go to America much more attractive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This business has gained significant profits, therefore, it decided to expand and diversify the products
to be a leading company in healthy products market by creating the diet pills products. To achieve this

A product is anything that can be offered to a market for attention, acquisition, use, or consumption
that might meet people s satisfaction or demand.(Kotler Armstrong, 2014, p.248).The healthy portion
diet pill is one of the shopping products , which would take consumers a considerable amounts of time
to make the final choice. The competition among the diet supplements is quite fierce, but a new
venture could manifest the competitive advantages if it masters and utilizes the concept of total
product. The main idea is to add more customer value in each level. (Kotler Armstrong, 2014). At the
core product level, what the customers actually want to pursue is shaping a slim figure without bearing
the pains from high pressure exercise. At the actual product level, the HP company is a relatively new
company so it has limited access to financial and material resources. Furthermore, the complementary

The Power Of Delaying Gratification Summary
lex Lickerman, author of the article The Power of Delaying Gratification , discuss the experiment
psychologist Walter Mischel did on the kids to understand their self control. Basically, he gives a
group of children a cookie and gives them to option either they could eat the cookie immediately or
they can wait until he comes back, however, if they wait for him to back they will receive another
cookie. Based on his experiment he concludes that the kid who resist to eat a cookie and wait for him
to gain another cookie they will do better in the school than the kids who did not resist. For instances,
they will get higher sat scores than who eat the cookie immediately. Likewise, I attempt to do the
same experiment instead of using cookie I use candy because teenager loves candy, therefore it will be
difficult for them to refuse candy. So, I did experiment on students who are in regular classes and they
are in different grades. Based on the results, I realize that only freshman and sophomore find it
difficult to candy but seniors are also found difficult to resist the candy. This interacts with Walter
ideology because I did experiment students who are in regular class and Walton states that kids who
resist eating candy straightway will do better in the school. Therefore, the students find difficult to
resist the candy so they are in regular class instead of honors class. My textbook says about the
delaying gratification is the children who had more self control in preschool were more successful in
high school, they will less likely to take drugs or alcohol when they grow up and they also had more
stable marriages. On the contrary, children who had poor self control in preschool were not as
successful in high school, and they will have academic and behavioral problems. My note says about
the delaying gratification is the kids who are able to wait to receive reward shows they have a lot of
patience and they will be very successful in future. According to the article The Power of Delaying
Gratification, it says in contrast, the children who had the most trouble delaying gratification had
higher rates of incarceration as adults and were more likely to struggle with drug and alcohol
addiction . The author

The Benefits Of Sign Language
Sounds are vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach
a person s or animal s ear. Some people are unable to hear these vibrations, they are either deaf or hard

whole phrases or words used to communicate with deaf or hard of hearing people used to
communicate with deaf and hard of hearing citizens (lifeprint). All schools should teach sign language
as a foreign language.
Sign Language is the use of facial expressions, fingerspelling, and gestures that represent whole

growing in use every day, as of 1972, it s used by 250,000 to 500,000 people in the United States. Sign
language is widely used to communicate with infants. Studies show that learning Baby Sign Language

  • 3. Panzihua Murder Story Auff What did you find? Panzihua. What? Do you remember the sign on the green barrel, the name of the nearby city. Well, most of the production is going there, and I guess why. There is a lot of attention around those barrels. This is for the green barrels. But what about the yellow ones? What about the Xeron? They burn it. Burn? Why so? Don t know, but what is inside the yellow barrels, always guarded by armed men, is burnt in a kind of... big oven. Mosi and Siro didn t understand. Why protect something that you have decided to burn? More: what was the real business about the trucks going to Panzihua. China was a big mystery indeed. Mosi wouldn t admit that far from her forest she was unable to elaborate a good plan. So, once in her life she needed to trust completely in her brother. Siro had actually a strange plan. • 4. Middle School Special Education Essay One of the most major questions for educational advocates as regards middle school Special Education students is whether and how much they are included in regular class. It is virtually impossible to tell if this policy should be adopted in general: Current legislation supports the concept of including students with disabilities in the general education classroom but leaves many wondering, Is this approach working? Determining the effectiveness of this practice is a task not easily accomplished. The term...is not found in any law and is used inconsistently..Inclusive programs differ greatly from district to district... [A]mount and nature of support provided to the regular classroom teacher differ dramatically from district to district (Hines, 2001). In general, the primary justification for this reform approach is one of justice. Disability students should be in classes with their able bodied peers: It s a form of de jure segregation based ... The reform to a more integrated classroom is a fact of life, for better or for worse, so it is the goal of educators to find a way to make this new integrated classroom beneficial for both Special Education and main track students (Hines, 2010). Curriculum design should be inclusive or differential based on the real needs of local communities, not abstract political principles. A district that only has thirty disability students among six hundred students could certainly afford to distribute Special Education students among the classrooms; one with a hundred Special Education students in a two thousand student middle school, on the other hand, might see a benefit at having separate classes due to the disparate needs of such a wide student ... When the bell rang to leave, students grabbed their belongings as usual and walked out of the classroom. Mrs. Smith noticed Jose Morales, a child new to the school, left the classroom very fast without a word. This was unusual for him. • 6. Isopod Prioritization The data generated in this experiment is insufficient to reject the null hypothesis. As a result, we cannot ascertain a statistically significant trend involving isopod prioritization between foraging behaviors and predator avoidance mechanisms in environments with elevated levels of predation risk. Even though the experiment produced statistically insignificant data, an interesting biological trend emerged during the final sampling intervals of the experiment. As the experiment progressed, an increased number of isopods in both treatments started to cross the mesocosms to forage for particulate organic matter. This observation clearly exemplified the prioritization of foraging over predation risk. While this observation was important to note, there is a larger biological underpinning present in the connection and comparison between the experimental and the control treatments. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, using a larger sample will increase the probability of getting statically significant results that are essential to draw insightful conclusions. Adding experimental treatments that include dead conspecifics will not only be instrumental in investigating the precedence of different chemical cues in isopods predator avoidance, but also in ascertaining additional factors that determine the extent to which isopods maintain a balance between foraging and predator avoidance. Moreover, reducing the food availability to both the crayfish and isopods before conducting the experiment will elevate both the chemical cue for the presence of a hungry predator and the isopods intrinsic need to forage. All in all, future research that incorporates the above recommendations will minimize sampling error, increase the probability of obtaining statistically significant results, and shed light on new evidence about the precedence of various chemical cues and intrinsic cues in isopods decision making ... I am going to help Jane cope the death of her daughter through possible religious experiences. The following below is the speech I am going to give to Jane about religious experiences and using them to cope with the death of her daughter Julia. Samuel found himself now in the dusty, cobwebbed attic of the old home, surrounded by a constellation of aged trinkets: faded old photographs, medals and trophies from long distant contests, a plethora of dusty and worthless relics. Samuel quickly surveyed the items, shuffling through boxes and turning the occasional object over in his hand. It was depressing, sorting through this collection. It reminded him of death and the ephemerality of existence. These objects had meaning once, but that meaning died along with Samuel s grandfather. What happens to an item when its owner dies? Only when your wishes have been granted, may I return to my slumber. Samuel was stunned, his mind reeling as he struggled to come to grips with what he was experiencing. Is this a dream? Am I hallucinating? When he finally got a hold of himself, he turned his attention back to the dragon head floating before him. What are you? Samuel asked. I am a Djinn , the dragon answered, I exist to serve one purpose. To grant wishes? Yes I will grant you three wishes, the dragon repeated. Well... Samuel thought for a moment, what can I wish for? You may wish for anything you desire. If it is in my power, then your wish will be granted, the dragon answered. Samuel believed the dragon. Samuel thought long and hard. He had to be careful what he wished for. Whatever wish he made, he had to leave no loopholes and make sure to avoid any unintended consequences. Over the years people have come to discover a pattern of the way children develop from the ages of infancy (3 12 months) to Adolescent (13 18 years). Noticing normal behavior and physical growth along with abnormal behavior and delayed growth. Different psychologists such as Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, Urie Bronfenbrenner, and Lev Vygotsky have come up with their own theories for normal child development. Let s begin with Jean Piaget, a Swiss clinical psychologist, his theory had four stages of cognitive development. He believed each stage would show the growth of where a child s brain should be developing at a specific period of time during their early years. In the article, Simply Psychology, there is a video that represents Piaget s cognitive stages with different ages and certain tasks. Piaget set out a row of counters in front of the child and asked her/him to make another row the same as the first one. Piaget spread out his row of counters and asked the child if there were still the same number of counters. Most children aged seven could answer this correctly, and Piaget concluded that this showed that by seven years of age children were able to conserve number (McLeod). The first stage was described as the Sensorimotor stage (birth 2 years); this is where the child starts learning his/her surroundings through sensory or motor activity with its environment. The sensorimotor stage comes with six substages throughout those 2 years. The first month includes the infant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Phychoanalysis In Delacroix s Liberty Leading The People While feminism and Marxism work well in hybrid approaches to Delacroix s Liberty Leading the People, the same cannot be said for every methodology. This is especially true in regards to psychoanalysis. It is difficult to apply this approach to an older artist like Delacroix. The methodology is so recent and grounded in being able to converse with the artist. In the case of Delacroix, scholars base their psychoanalytic findings on the artist s writings, both letters and journals. While this can be useful in some cases, such as Wilkin s use of it to determine Delacroix s opinions on other artists, it is not when trying to determine Delacroix thoughts on himself and his own art. This means the scholarship is based on Delacroix s self fashioning. While one can speculate on the subconscious motivations behind his writings, they simply do not add any depth to our understanding of Liberty Leading the People. Scholars try to link psychoanalysis with biography to ground their findings, but this only makes the biography method appear faulty and compromises readers willingness to accept fact. Thus, psychoanalysis does not add anything substantial to the study of Delacroix s painting and should not be used in conjunction with the hybridization of biography, formalism, or social history. An example of a scholar trying to utilize psychoanalysis Jack J. Spector s article Delacroix s Liberty on the Barricades in 1815 and 1830 from 1996. In this study, Spector unsuccessful tries to ... There are an estimated five to six million wild boars in the United States with an estimated one million in Florida alone. Spreading rapidly with no intention of slowing down, these wild boars are causing devastation to the native environment throughout the United States with their destructive habits. The US government has precautions put into place to try and control aspects of the boar population, but they re negating it with regulations that are benefiting the boars rather than the general population and native species. There are measures that need to be put into place in order to control the wild boar population and the destruction that comes with them. The native Flora and Fauna of the United States is being threatened by numerous invasive species, one of which is considered to be the most destructive. The wild boar is known to dwell in 35 states and is costing the US an estimated $1.5 billion each year in damages. Eating almost everything it sets its eyes on, boars dig up anything it desires to eat in a process called rooting. When a wild boar does a rooting behavior to dig up food it destabilizes the soil surface which leads to surface erosion. The surface erosion removes the top layer of soil that is responsible for having the richest organic matter leading to the soil losing nutrients needed to support plant life. Wild board also feed on a large quantity of native vegetation leaving the native plants not enough time to fully recover before being trampled over again by the damaging heathens. Males also tusks small trees removing the bark layer on an area of the tree in order to mark their territory and display their dominance. This tusking behavior causing serious harm to trees and has the potential to kill the tree. There is a phloem layer under the bark of a tree that comes up when boars do their tusking behavior. Nutrients such as water and minerals travel up the Phloem layer of the tree from the roots to the leaves, but if the phloem layer is removed from a portion of the tree it restricts the nutrients distributed throughout the tree and leads ... These learning experiences are highly effective, but they are also time consuming. On a multi track schedule, students could also be exposed to smaller classroom sizes, which could benefit the student giving them more time to themselves, and to their assigned teacher for extra instruction. Under a year round schedule, the students benefit by having smaller breaks, meaning they can quickly snap back to previously learned information. There are similar technologies for sampling and compressing audio data but MP3 remains the most popular because it is versatile, high performing and flexible. MP3 as we know it today, is the product of collaborations through the years by many organizations. If we had to narrow down the most important people involved in it s development, the two most important names would be Dieter Seitzer and Karlheinz Bradenburg. Initially, in the 1970s, Dieter Seitzer, a professor from Erlangen Nuremberg University was researching the problem of compressing audio data for telephone line transmission. He brought together a group of students as well as other scientists to do research and solve this challenge. One of his students , named Karlheinz Bradenburg, proposed an idea of exploiting the mechanism of human hearing and its limitations. Later on, in his doctoral theses, Karlheinz Bradenburg included algorithms that were later incorporated in todays MP3 technology. Most importantly were his method of scanning and removing sounds that were in audible to humans. In 1988 the ISO convened and called for a standard in audio and video encoding. Emperor penguins (Aptenodytes forsteri) in the Antarctic are fascinating flightless birds that are able to withstand incredibly harsh environments, where wind chills can reach to 76°F. Even though these penguins are able to survive the freezing temperatures, their breeding success and mortality rates are based primarily on the sea ice concentration (SIC) and sea ice extent (SIE) throughout the seasons. Sea ice concentration is a variable for climate scientists and nautical navigators to find the area of sea ice compared to the total at a given point in the ocean, whereas sea ice extent refers to a region as ice covered or not ice covered. Pollution is harmful substances in the air that affect the environment and poisonous gases are released in the atmosphere. There several types of pollution, which includes: water, land, and air pollution. All three are very harmful to Earth, and has a dangerous effect in the end, which is included, but not limited to global warming. Pollution that is in the air can eventually lead to health problems among humans, and can even affect the environment for Mother Nature itself, and also animals. Respiratory and lung diseases can result from air pollution over the course of years. Water pollution effects aquatic animals, which are consumed by humans, and could lead to even bigger problems overall. Pollution over land can lead to major problems with the soil and groundwater used to grow these plants, which are also food that is consumed for the human, animal, and insect population. The air that we breathe is a mix of gases that encircles the Earth s crust. Those gases known as nitrogen and oxygen are the two gases that makes up twenty one percent of the atmosphere, and are known as permanent gases. When that gas go through some type of contraction, it is known to be carbon dioxide and water vapor, and that s what assist the cycle and growth of plants, photosynthesis overall, and burning of fossils fuels (Harris, ). Questions have always surfaced about where we should stand on issues or whether it is permissible to isolate ourselves in all areas of life. Shaping A Christian Worldview suggests that hiding is not the preferred option, rather it is our duty to transform our modern culture. To do this we must be closely positioned with Scripture. Accomplishing this keeps the Christian grounded and does not give secular culture undue stature. Jesus taught that the salt of believers transformed by the gospel would alter the world. I worked with several volunteer programs at my church, including serving as an assistant teacher for the English as Second Language group, feeding and socializing with residents during the hypothermia housing for the homeless, and packaging and delivering food for the FACETS food assistance program. However, the Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program was my favorite by far because it combined the two things that I loved, horses and therapy, to help people grow and learn. The therapeutic riding program used Hippotherapy , instructed by a physical therapist to help physically and cognitively impaired children and young adults with disabilities such ... This portfolio consisted of two classes, one freshman year and the other senior year which includes an internship or practicum. We also must complete a portfolio paper of our work at Bridgewater over the past four years, showing our development as students and professionals. The community service aspect of our curriculum was supplied by the requirement of students to complete at least ten hours of community service each semester. Along with this, the school required sports teams to do an additional two hours of community service together to build relationships between the team and community. During the years that I was competing on the swim team we would go to the nursing home and help serve brunch for the residence. This was such a positive experience because the retirement community is about as old as our college so the residences are always very interested in the events of our school. Many of the residence either went to Bridgewater themselves or had children or grandchildren who attended the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Power Of Delaying Gratification Summary lex Lickerman, author of the article The Power of Delaying Gratification , discuss the experiment psychologist Walter Mischel did on the kids to understand their self control. Basically, he gives a group of children a cookie and gives them to option either they could eat the cookie immediately or they can wait until he comes back, however, if they wait for him to back they will receive another cookie. Based on his experiment he concludes that the kid who resist to eat a cookie and wait for him to gain another cookie they will do better in the school than the kids who did not resist. For instances, they will get higher sat scores than who eat the cookie immediately. Likewise, I attempt to do the same experiment instead of using cookie I use candy because teenager loves candy, therefore it will be difficult for them to refuse candy. So, I did experiment on students who are in regular classes and they are in different grades. Based on the results, I realize that only freshman and sophomore find it difficult to candy but seniors are also found difficult to resist the candy. This interacts with Walter ideology because I did experiment students who are in regular class and Walton states that kids who resist eating candy straightway will do better in the school. Therefore, the students find difficult to resist the candy so they are in regular class instead of honors class. My textbook says about the delaying gratification is the children who had more self control in preschool were more successful in high school, they will less likely to take drugs or alcohol when they grow up and they also had more stable marriages. On the contrary, children who had poor self control in preschool were not as successful in high school, and they will have academic and behavioral problems. My note says about the delaying gratification is the kids who are able to wait to receive reward shows they have a lot of patience and they will be very successful in future. According to the article The Power of Delaying Gratification, it says in contrast, the children who had the most trouble delaying gratification had higher rates of incarceration as adults and were more likely to struggle with drug and alcohol addiction .
