Activity 2 Summary And Analysis
Summary of Activity 1:
On August 7,2017, Ms. Kim Brown, who has 25 years teaching experience in special education was
interviewed and shared some of her teaching expertise. She is certified in K 8 regular education and K
12 mild to moderate special education. One of the most difficult tasks in her job is working in the
SEAS program updating goal pages. Although this can become very frustrating, seeing special need
children try so hard to complete a task can be very rewarding and makes all the work worth the
frustration. Being able to receive more professional development on special education topics would be
very encouraging and helpful towards her job. She has taught in a self contained classroom for 14
years where behavior is an enormous issue and requires strict supervision.

education allows the general education teacher focus on the class as a whole instead of having to
spend too much time with children who need extra attention. The range of academic functionality that
a class room full of students holds is almost impossible for one teacher to address. Inclusion teachers
reduce that range to a more manageable task for all students especially the Special Education students.
Some inclusion students are a behavior problem and are more of a distraction to the entire class.
Inclusion students that are not capable of doing the work become or can create behavior issues in a
class room. Inclusion students increase the range of academic functionality of a class as

The Ethics Of Clinical Research
A 35 year old man named Paul, who has a supportive wife and two adventurous kids, has been
diagnosed with a very severe case of bone cancer for 1 year now. Since this type of cancer is so
severe, chemotherapy is starting to not work as well. Paul s oncologist unfortunately had to suggest a
final option for Paul to try which was a clinical research trial. Clinical research trials are experimental
studies that deem whether or not a medical drug, treatment, surgery, or device is safe and beneficial
for humans to use ( National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute ). As explained in Marcia Angell s
Article, The Ethics of Clinical Research in the Third World , the Declaration of Helsinki of the World
Health Organization (WHO) provides a guideline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This temptation happens when the research question, such as a cure for cancer, is extremely important
and the answer could save lives. If the investigators cared more about the scientific or medical
advancement than the well being of their participants, they would cross a line that prohibits treating
human subjects as a means to an end. When this line is crossed, there is little left to protect patients
from a callous disregard of their welfare for the sake of research goals. Informed consent would not
matter because of the unbalanced relationship between the knowledge and authority among the
researcher and the subject. Approval by an institutional board, although it is important, can be subject
to change in its responsiveness to patients interests when they conflict with the welfares of the
researchers. Going back to Paul s case, he agrees to enter a clinical trial which was suggested by his
oncologist. The study, that Paul has agreed to enter, has claimed that this research team has created a
new drug that may be on its way to cure cancer. Obviously to a father and husband, this trial looks
very appealing. However, the researchers knowingly form two groups that will compare two
treatments. What Paul doesn t know, is that one of the treatments is better than the other. One group
will receive this new drug and the other group will receive a placebo. Comparing this new treatment

That was scary that to read how they use mutagenic chemical, tris B8, in children s pajamas. The
interesting thing they use this chemical in the U.S, but not in the Europe. Ames argues that all the

The Structure and Agency Debate
Introduction The structure and agency debate is a common one in the field of sociology and different
theorists come up with different ways of accounting for the actions of social actors. This essay takes
the position that structuration solves the problem of this much contested debate. Initially key concepts
and elements of structuration will be pointed out .These elements include structure, agency, social
systems and power amongst many others. Subsequently, there will be engagement of a discussion of
different schools of thought and finally it will be demonstrated how structuration prevails over the
structure agency debate. Socialization Socialization is an ongoing process in which individuals obtains
a personal identity, learns norms, values and behaviour appropriate to his/her position. People
constantly require approval of the things they do, they continually seek to be socially competent and to
be accepted by those around them. It is human nature to want to be similar from others in order to be
accepted in a certain social spheres but at the same time wanting to be different and unique. There are
primary and secondary agents of socialization. The primary agents are those that are basic and
fundamental to social beings, these include family and friends from which we learn behaviour at
young age; they transmit norms and values to us. The secondary agents are those that are more
external to us than family such as social institutions/organisations, these include schools,

Saddle Bags Essay
Saddle bags are a great addition to your saddle. From its original leather material, saddle bags are now
made out of synthetic material. There are different kinds of Saddle bags that can fit your needs.
An important part of the equine track, since the first saddle was invented, is a saddle bag. It is a great
addition to your saddle. Since there are things that a person likes to carry with him, saddle bags are
good for:
* water bottles
* rain coat
* cell phones and others
Saddle bags are originally made from leather. At current, equine saddle bags are made out of synthetic
material. Examples of these synthetic materials include:
* Condura Nylon
* Canvas
Some nice looking saddle bags available have soft linings on the backside. An example of a soft lining
saddle bag is the Fleece. Soft lining bags are used in order to prevent the bag from chaffing your
horse. With this, you can consider how much load you want to take before choosing a saddle bag for
your horse or mule. Of course, choose the one that best fit your needs. ... Show more content on

Breitbart New Right
There is a growing sentiment that nationalist and conservative political parties are increasing in
popularity and influence around the world. While this may be true to some extent, it is arguably the
rise of the New Right that is gaining significant momentum in surging popularity and influence at this
current time. While it is easy to suggest that nationalist, populist, conservative and even fascism is
becoming more mainstream and acceptable in modern society, it is important that the New Right is
differentiated from the current group of right leaning politics. This paper will identify and discuss

The use of social media from the left and right are noticeably different. Brooker and Barnett (2017)
observed that those who were drawn to social justice politics tended to use insults as opposed to
engaging in a serious debate. This itself has created a stigma for socialists who don t support and even
oppose identity politics, but are associated with those using identity politics, similar to how the new
and alt right are often stated to be one of the same. And it is identity politics that s arguably drawing
the forgotten people to these alternative sources of information and humour. The ideology of political
correctness is identified by young people as censorship and suppression, comparable to
totalitarianism. It is for this reason why the new and alt right have made significant inroads in the
social media space. Traditional media repressed what those on the right call freedom of speech, thus
forcing individuals to search other places, predominantly online where their voices, concerns and

Glory Sparknotes
You never truly know a man until you see how they act and respond under certain uncontrollable
circumstances. Where they are to decide what to do, either good or bad, like fight or flight. Today A
simple example would be you are walking on the street and you see someone steal a women s purse,
you can either do something about it and try to get it back or just stand by and watch as the man runs
away. In this case in the movie Glory, it is about the 54th regiment, a volunteer colored fighting force
made up of northern freemen, and some escaped slaves Overall Glory is about the freedom of millions
of people from forced labor and captivity on unjust causes. These brave men risked their lives
knowing if they succeed, all the slaves and laborers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Shaw showed him respect he would not accept it and would always react with violence. This
changed though when Sargent Major John Rawlins confronted him for his behavior and told him what
was actually going on and why they were here. To me this is a pivotal moment in the movie because
you see with the help of the brilliant actor Denzel, Trips eyes widen as if he can see for the first time
in a long time, the reason for the war and the fighting was for him and his brothers and sisters. Sargent
Major Rawlins tells him that the white men are dying by the thousands for them and the least they can
do is do anything to pay them back.
This is why I believe this movie is and artistic genius because growing up with my education I knew
why the north was fighting and who they were fighting for but watching that scene in the movie I felt
really emotional and surprised as well as Private Trip. Throughout the movie Glory there are many
different artistic qualities. Things that are symbols for others that to us today would just be something
normal. A few of these are the 54th regiments need for shoes and want of the infamous blue uniforms.
To me the shoes symbolized happiness and acceptance. At this time former slaved did not have much
so the little things meant a lot to them even if it was a simple pair of shoes. And it symbolized
acceptance because they felt the entire time they were at training that they were never going to go and

The Demise of a Family in Gail Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman
Gail Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman lt leads one to believe that the wife is overwhelmed or possibly
just having a bad day. The belief is that with her husband s understanding she and her family will get
through this difficult time. Everyone has a bad day and people get aggravated at times. However, a
shocking revelation comes to the reader that this isn t just a bad day. A deeper look into the story
reveals that the wife s selfishness and pity for her life is fueling her sorrow and along with their lack
of communication causes the demise of this family. In reading this story we find a woman tired of

It sounds patronizing of her telling him how to put their child to bed. His understanding of such things
does not detour him from dozing after her good super (35) while she puts the dishes away. His
understanding of such things doesn t seem to enlighten him that maybe his wife is in need of more
help than just his being big enough to contain what ever she must do (38). Him allowing her to stop
seeing their son is just enabling her to isolate herself one step further. He should sit her down and
explain, she can either talk to him about what is wrong or she can talk to a doctor. His passiveness
about the issue allows her to make the decisions when it is clear that she is not capable of making any
decisions. In shutting herself off from others, especially a small child, she is being selfish. She is not
considering what feelings the child might have: rejection, feelings of guilt, self esteem. What have I
done for mommy not to want to see me? What is wrong with me? The isolation and turning away her
child and her husband states that her feelings come before theirs. The mother is usually the one
teaching the children of compassion and respect for other s feelings. How does the child learn these
things if his own mother puts her feelings above his needs for nurturing and love? However, at the end
we believe the husband s understanding has paid off and she is coming back to them. She s done all of

The article discusses the environmental issues that Australia faces as a result of numerous companies
emitting greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. Thanks to that, a negative externality occurs
because the production of goods and services in Australia has a major effect upon a third party. For
example, a company is set up next to a residential area; this will have a negative effect on the residents
living in that region. For this reason the Australian government is deciding whether to impose taxes on
carbon emissions for the worst polluters
Figure 1 shows that the marginal private costs of the Australian firms are below the marginal social
costs, the pollution created has caused an extra cost to the society, such as respiratory ... Show more

Welfare Loss In figure 2, the deadweight burden had been reduced, because the tax is not identical to
the external cost, therefore the externality has not been eliminated, but it is less than previously when
there was no government intervention.
Although taxes are seen as a way of making polluters pay, there are some problems with this solution.
First, the Australian government will find it very difficult to measure accurately the pollution created
by firms and give a value to it, in which it can be regained by tax. Second, it is also very hard to
identify which firms are polluting and to what extent are they responsible for the pollution. Third, it is
often argued that tax do not actually stop the pollution from taking place. Furthermore, putting taxes
on those firms will lead to inflation because they have higher costs to pay for, and to compensate for
that, they will increase consumer prices.
The shortage in domestic investment could lead to the closure of many firms or movement abroad and
that will doubtless cause unemployment in Australia. Furthermore, while Australia imposes this tax to
help alleviate a global concern, it doesn t necessarily mean its competitors will and the extra
production costs for Australian firms will give it an unfair disadvantage. The

Born on May 27, 1907 in Springdale, Pennsylvania Rachel Carson was a writer, scientist, and
ecologist. Growing up in a rural town with her parents, she was given the opportunity to experience a
life long love of nature and the living world instilled in her by her mother. Rachel followed her mother
s passion first as a writer and later as a scholar of marine biology. It appeared that Rachel s mother and
her love for nature activated Rachel s concern for nature, as well. In 1918 Rachel received her first
prize for her story that was published in St. Nicholas Magazine at 11 years old. Rachel graduated from

Rachel a trusted influence of science in America. The Edge of the Sea, the other book mentioned,
brought Rachel s ideas and opinions on the ecosystems of the eastern coast from Maine to Florida.
Another book written by Carson was Under the Sea Wind. All three of these books were filled with
situations that happen and sometimes affect life in and near the sea. Rachel Carson helped practices
find discipline within the use of chemicals. Her books, ideas, and boldness radically changed the
modern mindset of those who misused chemicals. Rachel Carson stated in her book Silent Spring,

The Relationship Between Time And Money
The relationship between time and money provides the foundation of every financial decision that we,
the people made in the world today. Whether it will be saving money for a future event or considering
a loan to pay for a current financial need. Everyday, everywhere people are greatly affected by the
time value of money. Firms and organizations, investors and capitalists use this concept in particular
for them to decide what to accomplish with their money and how to achieve their goals. They give
money today in order to receive money in the future. Companies on the other hand applies the use of
its view and theory to decide which projects to take and which projects to pass up. This perception is
called capital budgeting. Capital budgeting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time Value of Money impacts business finance, corporate finance, and government finance. Time
value of money is demanding and demeaning when investing in finance and commercial real estate for
instance, in valuing companies, stock analysts use this idea and the notion of time value of money to
discount back the estimated future earnings of a company to their present value. But, in comparison to
numerous different buyers and sellers, whose future earnings may come at different times; discounting
the value of their earnings may assess their present value.
Present value determines what a cash flow to be received in the future is worth in today s dollars. The
present value of future cash flow will always be less than the same amount of future cash flows, since
each people can instantly and directly invest cash received now, therefore can achieve a greater return
than from a promise to receive cash in the future. The concept of present value is critical in various
financial applications, for instance, corresponding to the valuation of pension obligations, determining
the outcome of investing in fixed assets, and whether or not to purchase one type of investment over
another.
A crucial fundamental component of the present value calculation is the interest rate to use for
discounting purposes. While the market rate of

Why Building Administrations Have A Developing Business...
Building administrations have been a developing business for a considerable length of time, energized
by the expanding many sided quality of electronic vehicle frameworks, for example, motor
administration, security framework programming, and some more. The business sector progression
were further pushed by the propensity of vehicle producers to expand the obligation of their suppliers.
It has been and keeps on being essentially the stringent discharges enactment that has brought building

reasonable to legitimize the developing designing endeavors for huge arrangement generation vehicle

to the mid 90s. Says Bernhard Bihr, Managing Director of Bosch Engineering GmbH: Corner model
OEMs dependably had a rational comprehension of the assets that could go into adjusting arrangement
auto items for their vehicles. In any case, with discharges enactment getting harder and rivalry getting
harder, they understood that they required more parameters and capacities to be tweaked for their

Mixture Of Ortho And Para Nitrophenol Lab Report
During this experiment the crude product (mixture of ortho and para nitrophenols) was run through a
column chromatography. The point of the column chromatography was to separate the nitrophenols
and purify them. During the experiment the crude product was ran through the silica with two
different solvents. 60:40 DCM/hexanes was used to form the first band while 50:50 DCM/EtOAc was
used to form the second band. The reason for this method was that there had to be a change in solvent
for the para product because since it is polar it was expected to run very slowly through the column
and therefore needed a more polar solvent to speed it up, ethyl acetate. As expected two different
yellow bands were observed. Each band represented one of the nitrophenols, with the bottom band
being the ortho nitrophenol since it is less polar and stayed within the solvent and therefore ran
through the column quickly. The para product stayed at the top because it was similarly polar to the
Silica and had the ability to hydrogen bond to it. Once the bands were formed fractions were taken
from the yellow bands. Fraction 1 5 was from the ortho product and fractions 6 10 were from the para
product. The fractions formed were than ran through TLC chromatography to test the true purity of the
products and the success of the column chromatography separation. The first TLC plate containing
fractions 1 5, surprisingly did not have any spots (Figure 1b). This is was unexpected because

The Effects Of Soda On High School Vending Machines...
You may be familiar with recent regulation, which was initiated for the 2014 15 school year, where the
United States Department of Agriculture enforced regulatory guidelines on food items sold in schools
across the nation. Although there was previously a nutritional requirement for food in school, as
Marion Nestle, a Professor of Nutrition at New York University, points out in her very influential
article of the time, this requirement [did] not apply to foods sold outside of school cafeterias in snack
bars, school stores, or vending machines (Nestle 308). Many proponents of the recent regulation are
astonished that such regulation was not in place from the beginning. Unfortunately, this action was
influenced by an ever rising concern for the obesity rate in the US population, and not a desire to
proactively encourage a healthy lifestyle. The history of soda in high school vending machines carries
with it heavy economic interest, a plethora of lobbying and some imperative details, which we may
find useful in our consideration of diet soda. Coca Cola and PepsiCo are the two major companies that
compete in the soft drink arena. By the late 1990s these companies were already well established in
high school vending machines, but the competitive market required quite a bit more action (Nestle
310). In fact the companies began to, as Nestle claims, view school children as an attractive marketing
opportunity, and use every possible means to promote their products to this young,

Galileo Censorship Essay
Galileo and Censorship
Over two centuries ago the Catholic Church tried Galileo, because he published his book in 1632 that
supported the heliocentric ideas that originated from Copernicus. The church claimed that the
heliocentric theory went against scripture. During this time the Catholic Church believed in the idea
that the Earth was at the center of the universe. This was called the geocentric theory, which had been
around for nearly 1500 years. Galileo was tried less than a year later in 1633. The trial was private,
because the church feared the community would support him, because he was one of the most
achieved astronomers of their time. The church s committee unanimously voted that his book, the Two
Chief World Systems violated his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The committee was clinging to tradition and the knowledge that had been passed down to them for the
last 1500 years. The church took the scripture too literal, and it clouded their judgment. Galileo came
to the committee (church) with two propositions, the first being The sun is in the center of the world
and is altogether immovable in respect to local motion the second was, The earth is not the center of
the world nor it is immovable, but it moves as a whole and also with a daily motion. Within a couple
days the committee came to a conclusion that the propositions were foolish (Copernicanism, page
152). Galileo could not demonstrate the theory, so the church did not take his claim seriously. The
church felt threatened by the claim, and feared that it would weaken the power they had. This
corrupted the committees view of the book, which caused the unfair treatment Galileo received. The
treatment Galileo received justified his actions for publishing the book without the churches consent.
It was wrong to disregard Galileo s theories, because of past beliefs. The church should have been
more open minded of the idea and turned to science to disprove it rather than

Definitions/Descriptions of Concepts Grief is defined as the process of reacting or lamenting to the
loss of a loved individual through the medium of death. Grief is anticipated after loss or in anticipation
of loss. Morrie was seen in the film moving about and socializing with his family members (after he
was diagnosed with AV LS) as he anticipates his death. Grief is characterized by the process of
mourning which embraces the symptoms of depression, recovery, anxiety (due to separation), disbelief
and numbness. Grief can also be perceived as traumatic, normal, abnormal, anticipatory, pathologic
and complicated grief. It has the tendency to shape our lives, through our coping skills, responses to
challenges and changes. Anticipatory Grief Reaction refers to a grief reaction that occurred ahead of a
loss. It sanctions the individual diagnosed with a terminal disease to congregate with the family
members to comprehend their experience and commence the grieving process, in preparation of the
death of their loved one Walter, (2009). Anticipatory loss is characterized by social reaction, cognitive,
cultural and affective reactions to expected death felt by individuals and their family members Walter,

When M. Krempe said this while addressing the gathering of scientists at the university, he was not

They Say By Michael Pollan
In the book They say. I say , Michael Pollan and Mary Maxfield have different formulas for eating.
Are the ideas that society has today differ or not? Michael Pollan believes that one should Eat food.
Not much. Mostly plants (426). What he explains in his idea is that one should eat real food and not
the processed. He also believes that the food industry is the one to blame for confusing people in what
they are eating because all of the food is being processed and it is not real. By this he explains how
America should quit obsessing over this French paradox and start obsessing over the French fry (442).
In contrast, Mary Maxfield argues that one should Trust yourself. Trust your body. Meet your needs.
Maxfield built up the BMI, a tool to measure one s body fat. Many people look into what is right and
wrong to eat. Mary Maxfield explains that yes, we can eat healthy, but we can also eat whatever we d
like and still survive. Because many people have different formulas and rules to follow when it comes
to eating, I believe that one has to set a goal for themselves. Be happy with achieving the goals one
sets and portion out the food. Setting up my own rules, I realized that Maxfield ideas had a little
influence my own. Setting up a goal is a step toward achievement, especially when it comes to eating.
It marks where one starts and where that person wants to be at the end. For example, I weighed 135 a

Cdc And Its Partners Are Piloting A High Impact Prevention
CDC Involvement CDC and its partners are piloting a high impact prevention tactic to improvement
the goals of the National HIV/AIDS strategy (NHAS), increase the proficiency of present HIV
prevention approaches, and improve scrutiny among AI/AN. Listed below are some of the activities
that included:
1. Working with the Indian Health Service (HIS) and tribal leaders of the CDC Tribal Consultation
Advisory Committee to discuss methods for developing and implementing scalable, effective
prevention intervention approached that reach those at great risk for HIV and AIDS, including young
gay and bisexual AI/AN men .
2. Providing support and technical assistance to the health departments and community based
organizations to deliver effective prevention intervention for AI/AN .
3. Ensuring that capacity building assistance providers incorporate cultural competency, and
linguistics and educational appropriateness into all services delivered . (CDC)
Treatments
The most common reason AI/AN respondents were tested for HIV was because of illness. The primary
prevention is to prevent, secondly prevention would be getting tested early/detect and treat disease that
has not yet become symptomatic, tertiary prevention would be staying adherent to the ARV
regimen/prevent further deterioration, recurrent symptoms, and subsequent events (Rowan, 2013).
There are additional factors that will help patients with HIV /AIDS for example, the drug called AZT.

Defense Against Abortion
Thomson s article A Defense Against Abortion does raise several interesting, if abstract, moral
questions. Thomson believes that even if a fetus is fully human and in possession of certain rights, the
rights of the child should not be imposed on a woman s liberty. This question of freedom and basic
human rights pervades every side of Thomson s argument and creates another set of ethical
considerations for us to consider. These considerations raise many interesting questions. Is there a
different moral obligation to your child than to a stranger? Is allowing someone to die different from
purposefully causing them to die? Is liberty limitless or should we be morally obligated to give up that
liberty when others are in danger? These questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis J. Beckwith, a philosopher and professor at Baylor University, claims that Thomson is
assuming a philosophical stance that appears to be correct only because it denies the entire position of
those against abortion. Beckwith claims Thomson s position to be one of moral duty only when you
have chosen them. Truly, Thomson must not see the fetus as human as we can visibly see in the
unspoken beliefs that cloud her analogies. Such as in the case of the intruder in the house, Thomson
implies that no one would argue the right to remove, even if it includes serious harm, a burglar from
their own home. Yet, Beckwith argues that this premise undermines the entire position of fetus as
human since anyone knows intruders come in a variety of types. He takes the stand that a fetus is not a
knowing intruder, but instead a non willing inhabitant of the only environment that is designed to
shelter, feed, and sustain him, with his presence there being the consequence of agents having engaged
in an act intrinsically ordered to bring such beings into existence. Thus, if Thomson was truly taking
the perspective of the fetus as human, her analogies would not view the fetus as less than human or a
simple annoyance, but would take the stand of the fetus as a child with basic human

Taking a Look at Quantum Cryptography
Quantum Cryptography is the newest technology in the field of Encryption and proved to be most
secure as of now. In this paper we will discuss what quantum cryptography is and what makes it most
secure and unbreakable.
Introduction
All our classical computer cryptography methods are basically based on some mathematical
calculations which are quiet easy to implement in one direction but very difficult to process in the
other direction. As RSA(Rivest Shamir Adleman) algorithm which is one of the first practicable and
most famous public key cryptosystems, RSA, is based on the technique of factoring large numbers
which makes it secure. Difficulty in factoring increases with number of digits in RSA key. For
example, a 128 digit number would take millions of years to factor with current computers.
There are still limitations in classical cryptography, it is purely mathematical and information cannot
be separated from its physical representation. In Classical physics, we use binary form to store and
process the data. In the 1980s, C.Bennet, P.Benioff, R.Feynman and others observed that new and very
powerful ways of information processing are possible with quantum mechanical systems. This gave
birth to the concept of quantum computing.
We have algorithms such as Shor s Algorithm, a quantum computer can break a very large number
into its prime factors otherwise which could take millions of years to be solved. The day when
quantum cryptography will become a reality, above

Disasters Caused By Natural Disasters
Disasters are a series of disruptions involving widespread human, material, economic or
environmental losses and effects, which exceeds the capability of that affected community to cope up
with its already present resources. Disasters have been happening ever since the beginning of time.
Every disaster can be classified as either a human caused disaster which basically involves the
negligence or irresponsibility of one single person or a group of people, or natural caused disasters.
Natural disasters may happen due to volcanic eruption, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. and many other
causes. Sometimes disaster can also be intertwined between both human caused and natural disasters.
In this essay we are going to talk about some of the most famous engineering disaster which has an
intertwined fate with natural and human caused effects. The disasters also range from ground, to air, to
sea and also space disasters. On May 6, 1937, the Hindenburg arriving from Frankfurt was one of the
biggest airship disasters took place in Lakehurst, New Jersey. This disaster was a mixture of both
human caused and natural cause. The actual cause of the disaster was never found although many
hypotheses had been proposed, but it is said that the ignition of fire was caused by some form of
electricity. However, there has been a lot of controversy about the fire s fuel. The fabric skin of the
airship, or the hydrogen that was used as buoyancy was suggested as the initial fuel for the fire.

Video Games Cause Negative Effects On Children And...
Abstract As we enter the 21st Century, video games are becoming more popular each and every day
and children enjoy playing them as a way to spend their free time. These games allow the player to
live in the game by playing a role, in some cases with people from around the world. But the problem
with the video games in the market is that they are becoming too violent in some people s mind and
are also affecting them in diverse ways. Also, many of these video games are being advertised and
directed to American s children, which is the main controversy. There have been many studies of how
video games can convey possible negative effects. The parents of these young children need to be
aware of the effects of these games before letting them spend too much time playing them. Although
children and adolescents enjoy playing video games, these games are not healthy to play because they
convey various negative effects such as increase on violence, obesity, and anti social behavior. Video

Citation
Ashmore v. J. P. Thayer Co., 303 F. Supp. 2d 1359 (M.D. Ga. 2004).
Statement of Facts
Marcus Ashmore and Terrell Lee Green were maintenance workers for J.P. Thayer Co., Inc. under
supervisor Gene Fye. After a particular incident of harassment on January 16, 2001, Plaintiffs reported
Fye to Tricia Johnson, the Assistant Property Manager. At this time, Johnson did nothing about the
complaint. The harassment continued, and on January 26, Plaintiffs complained to the Property
Manager, Mary Frances de Rivera. In response, de Rivera verbally reprimanded Fye. This, however,
did not stop Fye s harassment. Instead of reporting the behavior to Defendant, Plaintiffs hired an
attorney who wrote a letter to Defendant saying that Ashmore and Green were going to file charges of
discrimination with the EEOC. On February 22, Fye was fired by Defendant. This came three days
after getting the letter and about a month after the initial harassment complaints.
Procedural History
The Plaintiffs filed a lawsuit at the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. The
verdict of the jury found the Defendant liable and was in favor of the Plaintiffs. Defendant then filed a
motion for a new trial for judgment as a matter of law.

Native American religion. It fostered the Plains Indians hope that they could resurrect the great bison

The first part of the assignment concerns the characteristics of Thornbury Castle, and in particular its
defensive and palace like features.
Having visited the site, in my opinion Thornbury Castle displays both defensive and luxurious, palace
like features. The Castle has the beginning of a ditch which could be argued as being a moat.
Crennelations, machicolations, gun/arrow loops and portcullis grooves are all strong defensive
features included in the building of Thornbury Castle. Arguably, the most defensive feature of
Thornbury Castle is the evidence of a barracks. Palace and luxurious features include large windows,

These can be seen at Thornbury Castle. The so called Tudor Palace was therefore more of a symbol of
wealth as opposed to a necessary means of defence. Despite the trend towards luxurious country
houses, Tudor palaces still included the defensive features noted above at Thornbury Castle.
At the time that Thornbury Castle was being built, other buildings were not that dissimilar, in the
sense that again they display both palace like and defensive features. Many of the buildings have
crennelations which are more of a decorative feature. Most of the buildings are of similar design to
Thornbury Castle but not one of them has included in their design arrow slits or a barracks, but
Thornbury does. Hampton Court Palace is almost identical to Thornbury Castle. One feature found in
both castles are terracotta tiled chimneys. Clay/terracotta tiled chimneys were popular and expensive
in Tudor times and are decorative features of Tudor palaces. Examples of terracotta tiled chimneys can
also be seen at Richmond Palace. Wencestor Hollar is the most luxurious and palace like of the
buildings from this era. It is taken much from an Eastern theme with large tear drop towers. Despite
differences of detail in all of these castles, Thornbury displays many

The Effect Of Pictorial Condition And Verbal Condition Essay
The effect pictorial condition and verbal condition have on the number of correct responses in a
memory test
Abstract
The aim of the experiment was to test whether pictures or words would lead to an increased
recognition response. The picture superiority effect suggests that pictures are better recognised than
words. This is shown by supporting researchers. Standing et al (1970) found that participants who
studied over 2000 pictures, 90% of those had accurately recognised them after several days. Paivio
had also suggests that pictures are dual coded which explains why pictures are better remembered than
words, which is encoded once in memory. In order to investigate whether pictures or words are best
recognised participants were split into two conditions, pictorial and verbal. In the verbal condition
participants saw words after being presented with pictures for 10 seconds whilst the pictorial condition
saw pictures. This therefore measured the participants correct recognition response in both the
pictorial condition and verbal condition. The participant completed 48 trials in each condition.
Introduction
Memory can be described as our ability to recall information from past experience, store, retrieve, and
encode information from the brain. Memory has a large capacity that allows us to learn, build new
experiences and form new relationships. (Mastin, L. 2016)
There are many types of memory including the two main types, short term memory (STM) and long

Comparing Ovid s The Myth Of Daedalus And Icarus
The myth of Daedalus and Icarus has been approached by many different artists with many differing
depictions of the event. Some artists such as Ovid, chose to focus on Daedalus and Icarus and leave
everyone else out. Other artists, for instance, Pieter Bruegel the Elder and W. H. Auden, have much
more panoramic views of the situation and include others in their works. Different approaches can
leave the readers with different understandings of this ancient myth.
In Ovid s The Myth of Daedalus and Icarus, the author uses a third person point of view to closely
follow Daedalus and Icarus. From this, readers are more tightly attached to the characters and know
more about them. Readers of this story witness the inventing and engineering of the wings by
Daedalus and know the conflicting desires of Daedalus to escape from prison and to protect his son.
One thing that is emphasized in this story is the overwhelming sorrow of Daedalus, both before due to
fear of Icarus falling, and after due to the loss of his son. Ovid includes ... Show more content on

Dramatic Soprano Essay

For others, learning how to support the voice is a process that takes many years. Montserrat Caballe
spent her first year at the Conservatoire learning how to breathe. She went on to call this her
respiratory gymnastics. Her breathing exercises were aimed at building a big solid wall around the
diaphragm by using and controlling all those muscles under and behind the abdomen which support
the diaphragm and the back. She wanted to strengthen them to the point where the diaphragm does
need to work but only to support the breath. The actual work of pushing up the air is done by the
abdominal muscles. Dramatic Soprano and Professor of Voice at New England Conservatory, Jane
Eaglen shares Caballe s beliefs on the sheer physicality required to achieve sufficient breathe support
for a large voice. She states Making the voice seamlessly supported throughout its entire range takes a
lot of physical strength. Not stamina, but sheer physical strength. The strength to use your muscles,
and the diaphragm, and the rest of the body in the right way never the throat. There must never be an
inkling of tension in the throat. I very much use all of my body to sing. I use my legs, bottom,

muscles were ready. A voice should always be like that seamless. But this just took time. It came

Essay about apeuro dbq on the poor
The Europeans between the 1450 s and 1700 s held many negative attitudes towards the poor
themselves and the idlers who they believed were a menace to society. Also during this time period the
Europeans had many responses like in England where they put them in poorhouses or tried to heal
them or in others places where they tried to give them alms.
During this time period many Europeans held negative attitudes toward helping the poor due to the
idle and lazy who go around begging as if they are poor. Emperor Charles V in a royal decree wrote
how indiscriminately giving alms will result in idleness which is the root of all evils (Document 4).

that when a family becomes poor that the men begin to steal, the women become prostitutes, and their
children grow up and become accustomed to this lifestyle while those with money believe the poor to

Evaluation Of The Chicago Maternity Center
If a sweeping pestilence struck down as many women in a community as are taken in childbirth we
would immediately be aroused, claimed Beatrice E. Tucker, Director and Associate Obstetrician of
The Chicago Maternity Center. Beatrice was determined to helped needed women, in a needed
community, in Chicago. (Tucker, Beatrice E., and Harry B. Benaron, 1) The Chicago Maternity Center
was founded in 1895, by Dr. Joseph DeLee. However, it was led and directed by Dr. Beatrice Tucker,
accompanied by her partner Dr. Harry Benaron. The center was opened from 1932 until 1973. The
center provided free obstetrical care for poor women while at the same time helping doctors train for
the latest methods to as well provide safe delivery for these women (Simpson, 1). The center wasn t
such a famous hospital or clinic as the time. It also wasn t located by means of a medical school, such
as the University of Chicago. Instead, the Chicago Maternity Center was located at 1334 South
Newberry Street, centered at Chicago s West Side. The reason for this was because, when Beatrice
Tucker became the Chicago Maternity Center s leader, the community was trapped as a desperate poor
immigrant working class (Simpson, 1). Therefore, the center had two purposes. The first, was to care
for and treat poor women, in childbirth, right at their homes. Second, was to teach doctors, medical
students, and nurses the science and art of obstetrics (Tucker, Beatrice E., and Harry B. Benaron, 1).

Lesbian Identity Politics and Associated Organizations Essay
Identity politics were a major part of social reform in the Sixties and Seventies. Yet, the advent of
identity politic reform originates in the Fifties, a decade that saw the African American Civil Rights
Movement start to gain momentum. On the heels of the Civil Rights movement, we also see the
Women s Liberation Movement begin to gain steam, shortly thereafter followed by the Gay Liberation
Movement. And as an offshoot of these reform movements, we observe the dawn of lesbian identity
politics a movement very much its own amongst its predecessors. One sect would come to be coined

A Literary Analysis Of Goin Fishin
Love can come from many different people. It is not always given by a family member. Love is not
always given by a romantic interest, either. Sometimes love can be given by friends, especially in a
time of need. This can be seen in Chris Crutcher s short story Goin Fishin . Goin Fishin is a short story
about a boy named Lionel Serbousek, whose family is killed by his previous best friend, Neal
Anderson. The story follows him through his grief. Throughout the story, Lionel s friends are there to
guide him through his grief and guard him from the outside world. Lionel s friends love him like
family. After his family dies, Lionel s friends gather to help him. They are good people and are
constantly there for him. Each and every one of them are there for him from the start. One of Lionel s
friends, Elaine Ferral, explains this when she tries to get him to think and see sensibly. When your

Essay on The Heroic Slave of Amistad
In 1997 a movie called Amistad depicted the true story of a group of Africans that were taken from
their families and forced into slavery. Although the movie was heavily criticized for it s inaccurate tale
of the terrible ordeal, it gave the story world renowned attention. The real story had more drama and
tearjerker parts then the movie did. If the movie ever gets remade, hopefully this time it follows the
facts exactly. A man named Sengbe Pieh, commonly known in the United States as Jose Cinque, was
born around 1813 in Mende Country. He was rumored to be the son of a local chief and lived his days
as a farmer working the fields. He was a devoted husband with two sons and a daughter. One day he
woke up, kissed his wife and kids ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trip to Puerto Principe was a harsh one for the slaves. They were whipped and malnourished with
the believe they would be eaten once they got their. One hungry, windy, miserable night Pieh loosened
one of the spikes and freed himself with it. He freed the other slaves in the lower deck with him and
charged to the upper deck. The slaves killed Ferrer, the captain and Celestino the cook for killing one
of the slaves in the attack. Ruiz and Montez were spared, while the two white seaman escaped off a
small boat. Montez having some experience as a sailor, was forced to take the slaves to Africa. On this
long voyage the slaves had mange to learn how to speak Mende. Pieh rationed the food to everybody
except for the children, who got a full ration. Pieh caring only about everybody else except for
himself, gave himself the smallest ration out of everyone. In the meantime Montez was trying to steer
the schooner towards Cuba. Unfortunately, that plan didn t work and the schooner ended up in the
northeast coastline of The United States. All over the coastline there were sighting of the mysterious
looking boat in the newspapers. The newspapers portrayed them as bloodthirsty savages that killed the
crew and began sailing the seas as buccaneers. In retrospect all they were just trying to do was trade
food and find a local seaman to take them home. On August 26 Lt. Commander Thomas R. Gedney

Discipline In Classroom Management And Classroom Management
Disciplining children is important to create a safe and fun learning environment. Discipline requires
knowledge, skill, sensitivity, and self confidence; like any art, it is something that one will acquire
through training and experience; it becomes easier with practice. Many people confuse discipline with
classroom management; discipline is one dimension of classroom management and classroom
management is a general term. Discipline can also have a positive influence on both the individual and
classroom environment. Utilizing disciplinary actions can be an opportunity to reflect and learn about
consequences, instill collective values, and encourage behavior that is acceptable for the classroom.
Recognition of the diversity of values within communities can increase understanding and tolerance of
different disciplinary techniques. Promoting positive correction of questionable behavior within the
classroom dynamic, as opposed to out of class punishments like detention, suspension, or expulsion,
can encourage learning and discourage future miss behavior. Learning to own one s bad behavior can
also contribute to positive growth in social emotional learning. Throughout the history of education,
the most common means of maintaining discipline in schools was corporal punishment. While a child
was in school, a teacher was expected to act as parents with many forms of parental discipline or
rewards open to them. This often meant that students were commonly chastised with the strap

Activity 2 Summary And Analysis Summary of Activity 1: On August 7,2017, Ms. Kim Brown, who has 25 years teaching experience in special education was interviewed and shared some of her teaching expertise. She is certified in K 8 regular education and K 12 mild to moderate special education. One of the most difficult tasks in her job is working in the SEAS program updating goal pages. Although this can become very frustrating, seeing special need children try so hard to complete a task can be very rewarding and makes all the work worth the frustration. Being able to receive more professional development on special education topics would be very encouraging and helpful towards her job. She has taught in a self contained classroom for 14 years where behavior is an enormous issue and requires strict supervision. Summary of Activity 2: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She stated, Inclusive education allows the general education teacher focus on the class as a whole instead of having to spend too much time with children who need extra attention. The range of academic functionality that a class room full of students holds is almost impossible for one teacher to address. Inclusion teachers reduce that range to a more manageable task for all students especially the Special Education students. Some inclusion students are a behavior problem and are more of a distraction to the entire class. • 3. The Ethics Of Clinical Research A 35 year old man named Paul, who has a supportive wife and two adventurous kids, has been diagnosed with a very severe case of bone cancer for 1 year now. Since this type of cancer is so severe, chemotherapy is starting to not work as well. Paul s oncologist unfortunately had to suggest a final option for Paul to try which was a clinical research trial. Clinical research trials are experimental studies that deem whether or not a medical drug, treatment, surgery, or device is safe and beneficial for humans to use ( National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute ). As explained in Marcia Angell s Article, The Ethics of Clinical Research in the Third World , the Declaration of Helsinki of the World Health Organization (WHO) provides a guideline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This temptation happens when the research question, such as a cure for cancer, is extremely important and the answer could save lives. If the investigators cared more about the scientific or medical advancement than the well being of their participants, they would cross a line that prohibits treating human subjects as a means to an end. When this line is crossed, there is little left to protect patients from a callous disregard of their welfare for the sake of research goals. Informed consent would not matter because of the unbalanced relationship between the knowledge and authority among the researcher and the subject. Approval by an institutional board, although it is important, can be subject to change in its responsiveness to patients interests when they conflict with the welfares of the researchers. Going back to Paul s case, he agrees to enter a clinical trial which was suggested by his oncologist. The study, that Paul has agreed to enter, has claimed that this research team has created a new drug that may be on its way to cure cancer. Obviously to a father and husband, this trial looks very appealing. However, the researchers knowingly form two groups that will compare two treatments. What Paul doesn t know, is that one of the treatments is better than the other. One group will receive this new drug and the other group will receive a placebo. Comparing this new treatment ... The interesting thing they use this chemical in the U.S, but not in the Europe. Ames argues that all the permanent hair dyes were mutagenic because they contained aromatic amines, which are often chemicals. Sadly I dye my hair so often. Sometimes I feel like knowing too much stuff doesn t help. Now every time I go to hair saloon I ll think about this. Ames argues that when we buy organic foods we are getting 10,000 more toxic chemicals nature s pesticides than man made pesticides. • 5. The Structure and Agency Debate Introduction The structure and agency debate is a common one in the field of sociology and different theorists come up with different ways of accounting for the actions of social actors. This essay takes the position that structuration solves the problem of this much contested debate. Initially key concepts and elements of structuration will be pointed out .These elements include structure, agency, social systems and power amongst many others. Subsequently, there will be engagement of a discussion of different schools of thought and finally it will be demonstrated how structuration prevails over the structure agency debate. Socialization Socialization is an ongoing process in which individuals obtains a personal identity, learns norms, values and behaviour appropriate to his/her position. People constantly require approval of the things they do, they continually seek to be socially competent and to be accepted by those around them. It is human nature to want to be similar from others in order to be accepted in a certain social spheres but at the same time wanting to be different and unique. Thanks to that, a negative externality occurs because the production of goods and services in Australia has a major effect upon a third party. For example, a company is set up next to a residential area; this will have a negative effect on the residents living in that region. For this reason the Australian government is deciding whether to impose taxes on carbon emissions for the worst polluters Figure 1 shows that the marginal private costs of the Australian firms are below the marginal social costs, the pollution created has caused an extra cost to the society, such as respiratory ... Although taxes are seen as a way of making polluters pay, there are some problems with this solution. First, the Australian government will find it very difficult to measure accurately the pollution created by firms and give a value to it, in which it can be regained by tax. Second, it is also very hard to identify which firms are polluting and to what extent are they responsible for the pollution. Third, it is often argued that tax do not actually stop the pollution from taking place. Furthermore, putting taxes on those firms will lead to inflation because they have higher costs to pay for, and to compensate for that, they will increase consumer prices. The shortage in domestic investment could lead to the closure of many firms or movement abroad and that will doubtless cause unemployment in Australia. Furthermore, while Australia imposes this tax to help alleviate a global concern, it doesn t necessarily mean its competitors will and the extra production costs for Australian firms will give it an unfair disadvantage. The point of the column chromatography was to separate the nitrophenols and purify them. During the experiment the crude product was ran through the silica with two different solvents. 60:40 DCM/hexanes was used to form the first band while 50:50 DCM/EtOAc was used to form the second band. The reason for this method was that there had to be a change in solvent for the para product because since it is polar it was expected to run very slowly through the column and therefore needed a more polar solvent to speed it up, ethyl acetate. As expected two different yellow bands were observed. Each band represented one of the nitrophenols, with the bottom band being the ortho nitrophenol since it is less polar and stayed within the solvent and therefore ran through the column quickly. The para product stayed at the top because it was similarly polar to the Silica and had the ability to hydrogen bond to it. Once the bands were formed fractions were taken from the yellow bands. Fraction 1 5 was from the ortho product and fractions 6 10 were from the para product. You may be familiar with recent regulation, which was initiated for the 2014 15 school year, where the United States Department of Agriculture enforced regulatory guidelines on food items sold in schools across the nation. Although there was previously a nutritional requirement for food in school, as Marion Nestle, a Professor of Nutrition at New York University, points out in her very influential article of the time, this requirement [did] not apply to foods sold outside of school cafeterias in snack bars, school stores, or vending machines (Nestle 308). Many proponents of the recent regulation are astonished that such regulation was not in place from the beginning. Unfortunately, this action was influenced by an ever rising concern for the obesity rate in the US population, and not a desire to proactively encourage a healthy lifestyle. The history of soda in high school vending machines carries with it heavy economic interest, a plethora of lobbying and some imperative details, which we may find useful in our consideration of diet soda. Coca Cola and PepsiCo are the two major companies that compete in the soft drink arena. By the late 1990s these companies were already well established in high school vending machines, but the competitive market required quite a bit more action (Nestle 310). Thomson believes that even if a fetus is fully human and in possession of certain rights, the rights of the child should not be imposed on a woman s liberty. Such as in the case of the intruder in the house, Thomson implies that no one would argue the right to remove, even if it includes serious harm, a burglar from their own home. Yet, Beckwith argues that this premise undermines the entire position of fetus as human since anyone knows intruders come in a variety of types. He takes the stand that a fetus is not a knowing intruder, but instead a non willing inhabitant of the only environment that is designed to shelter, feed, and sustain him, with his presence there being the consequence of agents having engaged in an act intrinsically ordered to bring such beings into existence. In this paper we will discuss what quantum cryptography is and what makes it most secure and unbreakable. Introduction All our classical computer cryptography methods are basically based on some mathematical calculations which are quiet easy to implement in one direction but very difficult to process in the other direction. As RSA(Rivest Shamir Adleman) algorithm which is one of the first practicable and most famous public key cryptosystems, RSA, is based on the technique of factoring large numbers which makes it secure. Difficulty in factoring increases with number of digits in RSA key. For example, a 128 digit number would take millions of years to factor with current computers. There are still limitations in classical cryptography, it is purely mathematical and information cannot be separated from its physical representation. In Classical physics, we use binary form to store and process the data. In the 1980s, C.Bennet, P.Benioff, R.Feynman and others observed that new and very powerful ways of information processing are possible with quantum mechanical systems. This gave birth to the concept of quantum computing. We have algorithms such as Shor s Algorithm, a quantum computer can break a very large number into its prime factors otherwise which could take millions of years to be solved. • 26. Disasters Caused By Natural Disasters Disasters are a series of disruptions involving widespread human, material, economic or environmental losses and effects, which exceeds the capability of that affected community to cope up with its already present resources. Disasters have been happening ever since the beginning of time. Every disaster can be classified as either a human caused disaster which basically involves the negligence or irresponsibility of one single person or a group of people, or natural caused disasters. Natural disasters may happen due to volcanic eruption, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. and many other causes. Sometimes disaster can also be intertwined between both human caused and natural disasters. In this essay we are going to talk about some of the most famous engineering disaster which has an intertwined fate with natural and human caused effects. The disasters also range from ground, to air, to sea and also space disasters. On May 6, 1937, the Hindenburg arriving from Frankfurt was one of the biggest airship disasters took place in Lakehurst, New Jersey. This disaster was a mixture of both human caused and natural cause. The actual cause of the disaster was never found although many hypotheses had been proposed, but it is said that the ignition of fire was caused by some form of electricity. However, there has been a lot of controversy about the fire s fuel. The fabric skin of the airship, or the hydrogen that was used as buoyancy was suggested as the initial fuel for the fire. These games allow the player to live in the game by playing a role, in some cases with people from around the world. Although children and adolescents enjoy playing video games, these games are not healthy to play because they convey various negative effects such as increase on violence, obesity, and anti social behavior. Statement of Facts Marcus Ashmore and Terrell Lee Green were maintenance workers for J.P. Thayer Co., Inc. under supervisor Gene Fye. After a particular incident of harassment on January 16, 2001, Plaintiffs reported Fye to Tricia Johnson, the Assistant Property Manager. At this time, Johnson did nothing about the complaint. The harassment continued, and on January 26, Plaintiffs complained to the Property Manager, Mary Frances de Rivera. In response, de Rivera verbally reprimanded Fye. This, however, did not stop Fye s harassment. Instead of reporting the behavior to Defendant, Plaintiffs hired an attorney who wrote a letter to Defendant saying that Ashmore and Green were going to file charges of discrimination with the EEOC. On February 22, Fye was fired by Defendant. This came three days after getting the letter and about a month after the initial harassment complaints. Procedural History The Plaintiffs filed a lawsuit at the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. The verdict of the jury found the Defendant liable and was in favor of the Plaintiffs. Defendant then filed a motion for a new trial for judgment as a matter of law. Issue Presented Should J. P. Thayer Co., Inc. be held liable for the harassment of supervisor, Gene Fye. Court s Holding: The Court ruled in favor of the Defendant. Therefore, the Defendant isn t liable to ... • 34. The Effect Of Pictorial Condition And Verbal Condition Essay The effect pictorial condition and verbal condition have on the number of correct responses in a memory test Abstract The aim of the experiment was to test whether pictures or words would lead to an increased recognition response. The picture superiority effect suggests that pictures are better recognised than words. This is shown by supporting researchers. Standing et al (1970) found that participants who studied over 2000 pictures, 90% of those had accurately recognised them after several days. Paivio had also suggests that pictures are dual coded which explains why pictures are better remembered than words, which is encoded once in memory. In order to investigate whether pictures or words are best recognised participants were split into two conditions, pictorial and verbal. In the verbal condition participants saw words after being presented with pictures for 10 seconds whilst the pictorial condition saw pictures. This therefore measured the participants correct recognition response in both the pictorial condition and verbal condition. The participant completed 48 trials in each condition. Introduction Memory can be described as our ability to recall information from past experience, store, retrieve, and encode information from the brain. • 35. Comparing Ovid s The Myth Of Daedalus And Icarus The myth of Daedalus and Icarus has been approached by many different artists with many differing depictions of the event. Some artists such as Ovid, chose to focus on Daedalus and Icarus and leave everyone else out. Other artists, for instance, Pieter Bruegel the Elder and W. H. Auden, have much more panoramic views of the situation and include others in their works. Different approaches can leave the readers with different understandings of this ancient myth. In Ovid s The Myth of Daedalus and Icarus, the author uses a third person point of view to closely follow Daedalus and Icarus. From this, readers are more tightly attached to the characters and know more about them. Readers of this story witness the inventing and engineering of the wings by Daedalus and know the conflicting desires of Daedalus to escape from prison and to protect his son. One thing that is emphasized in this story is the overwhelming sorrow of Daedalus, both before due to fear of Icarus falling, and after due to the loss of his son. Ovid includes ... The author is essentially verbalizing the painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus. Much like Icarus isn t a huge part of the painting, he is also given very little mention in this poem. The underlying theme of this poem is that suffering is surrounded by the busyness of everyday life. For others, learning how to support the voice is a process that takes many years. Montserrat Caballe spent her first year at the Conservatoire learning how to breathe. She went on to call this her respiratory gymnastics. Her breathing exercises were aimed at building a big solid wall around the diaphragm by using and controlling all those muscles under and behind the abdomen which support the diaphragm and the back. She wanted to strengthen them to the point where the diaphragm does need to work but only to support the breath. The actual work of pushing up the air is done by the abdominal muscles. Dramatic Soprano and Professor of Voice at New England Conservatory, Jane Eaglen shares Caballe s beliefs on the sheer physicality required to achieve sufficient breathe support for a large voice. She states Making the voice seamlessly supported throughout its entire range takes a lot of physical strength. Not stamina, but sheer physical strength. The strength to use your muscles, and the diaphragm, and the rest of the body in the right way never the throat. There must never be an inkling of tension in the throat. The center was opened from 1932 until 1973. The center provided free obstetrical care for poor women while at the same time helping doctors train for the latest methods to as well provide safe delivery for these women (Simpson, 1). The center wasn t such a famous hospital or clinic as the time. It also wasn t located by means of a medical school, such as the University of Chicago. Instead, the Chicago Maternity Center was located at 1334 South Newberry Street, centered at Chicago s West Side. The reason for this was because, when Beatrice Tucker became the Chicago Maternity Center s leader, the community was trapped as a desperate poor immigrant working class (Simpson, 1). Therefore, the center had two purposes. The first, was to care for and treat poor women, in childbirth, right at their homes. Second, was to teach doctors, medical students, and nurses the science and art of obstetrics (Tucker, Beatrice E., and Harry B. Benaron, 1). Through these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Combahee River Collective, though, did not feel separate from African American men concerning race, yet, felt doubly oppressed by white patriarchy. Understanding that they connected with black men racially, yet struggled with them sexually, almost supplements the idea that white men who controlled government and economy were the ultimate oppressor. They did not feel they were separate, but rather, just opposed to black men along patriarchal lines. Inversely, the Collective connected with white lesbians against patriarchy, but were subjected to hierarchy within feminism as well as lesbianism. • 45. Discipline In Classroom Management And Classroom Management Disciplining children is important to create a safe and fun learning environment. Discipline requires knowledge, skill, sensitivity, and self confidence; like any art, it is something that one will acquire through training and experience; it becomes easier with practice. Many people confuse discipline with classroom management; discipline is one dimension of classroom management and classroom management is a general term. Discipline can also have a positive influence on both the individual and classroom environment. Utilizing disciplinary actions can be an opportunity to reflect and learn about consequences, instill collective values, and encourage behavior that is acceptable for the classroom. Recognition of the diversity of values within communities can increase understanding and tolerance of different disciplinary techniques. Promoting positive correction of questionable behavior within the classroom dynamic, as opposed to out of class punishments like detention, suspension, or expulsion, can encourage learning and discourage future miss behavior. Learning to own one s bad behavior can also contribute to positive growth in social emotional learning.
