Night Vale Monologue
The gravel crunches under my feet as I wander down the length of our driveway towards the empty
county road. I fiddle with my headphones and my blue, rubbery armband holding my iPod; my
podcast isn t coming through clearly. I fix my right earphone in time to hear Cecil drawl out Welcome
to Night Vale, and I smile honestly for the first time all day. I have an unorthodox relationship with
running. As a child, I swore I would never run, that I loathed even the mere idea of running for fun.
But now, I find it an escape, a paradise where I can truly be who I am, with no exceptions.. I have a
different relationship with Welcome to Night Vale, the fictional podcast about a small desert

The run over pedestrian sign makes much more sense, I articulate out loud, although I know perfectly
well there is no one to hear me; I also know that I would receive peculiar looks for that quirky
statement. I don t care. I am alone and I am myself. I turn back towards home, the rapidly
disappearing sun to my right hand side now. I run a bit faster, my giggles and thoughts of hypnotic
city equipment spurring me on. My stride bounces a bit as I run on the lopsided county road.
Lopsided. I think. My sense of humor is lopsided like the road, my sense of happiness, a bit bizarre,
but I feel completely at home no matter what the out side view of me is. I turn my thoughts back to the
podcast; Dana the Intern is speaking now:
I remember diagonals of sunlight in the late afternoon, drawn across its flat expanse, transversed by
my grandfather s hand as he swept it through whatever story he was telling, to highlight the words
with motion, to motion us closer to the words. I visualize he grandfather, a wrinkled, elderly man with
tanned skin, telling stories to his grandchildren. I reminisce on my grandfather; long gone for some
time now, whom was kind and encouraged my spunk.
I slow to a walk. I am a stone s throw from my home; I can feel the responsibilities calling me

Algernon Charles Swinburne s Poem A Cameo
The poem, A Cameo , portrays life as an engraved painting. Algernon Charles Swinburne included six
significant figures that inquired how to escape the struggles of life. The painting retails that there is a
portrait of Desire who is painted with red blood on a ground of gold , emphasizing that the poem
represents a painting that has a base of gold covered in red. A cameo is a technique of engraving a
stone in such a way that an underlying stone of one color is exposed as a background for a low relief
design of another color (dictionary.com). A Cameo represents this description because death is similar
to the underlying stone color, whereas the figures included represent the low relief design of another
color . Swinburne had the intention with this poem to create an emphasis six figures relating to life. ...

Research Paper On Dharavi
Dharavi
Dharvai located in Mumbai, is home to one of the largest slums in the world. The slum was founded in
1882 during the British colonial era. The slum grew due to growing factories and industries and due to
the growing influx of migrants
Initially Dharavi was predominantly a mangrove swamp and was sparsely populated by a Fisherman
community called the Koli, and Dharavi came to be called Koliwadas. During the 19th century,
Mumbai s population reached half a million, 10 times the population of London, at that time. Hence
most parts of Mumbai suffered from acute housing, water and sanitation problems. Residential areas
were divided into 2 parts: European and native residential quarters. Slums were meant for native
Indian population .Increase of urban growth under the East India Company and British Raj, gave rise
to slums, unsanitary conditions and epidemics. Concerned about epidemics the British Government
expelled polluting industries and Indian residents to the village of Koliwadas. And, thus was born

Always the Lowest Price at Wal-Mart Essay
Always the Lowest Price at Wal Mart
Over the past 20 years, the nature of the American retailing market has changed dramatically, going
from Mom and Pop s boutiques to mega retail stores like Wal Mart. Especially in the last decade, Sam
Walton s discount stores have proliferated in almost every city across the United States and Canada.
But the opinions about the effects of Wal Mart in small towns divide the rural population in two
groups. Through economic, cultural and social arguments, the anti Wal Mart activists and the
advocates defend their point of view about the expansion of the store in small communities.

The tranquil and friendly way of life in small communities is threatened by the urban one stop
shopping culture of the giant. The population in regions does not want a store where the atmosphere is
cold and artificial. In essence, the anti Wal Mart activists want to stop the store from establishing itself
in rural communities because they believe that it would destroy their economic and cultural identity.
On the opposite side, the population in favour of Wal Mart thinks that the creation of new stores in
rural regions stimulates the economy and that the local businesses are responsible for the problems
faced on Main Street because they are not adapted to the modern retailing market. First of all, the
opening of a mega discount store in a region attracts people from other small towns. This affluence of
customers is beneficial to the local businesses that sell complementary products near the Wal Mart.
The advocates of the store also affirm that the company creates jobs. But if local merchants want to
benefit from Wal Mart, they have to evolve with the market and change their way of doing things. As
said by Jo Ann Johnston, adaptation is the key element: ``People are beginning to realize that small
town merchants need to adapt to changes in their communities, the economy, and their industries
instead of chastising an outside company`` (1995, p.222). The

Living Life with a Purpose In his 2005 Stanford Commencement Speech, founder and CEO of Apple
and Pixar, Steve Jobs develops ethos, pathos, and logos in order to motivate and inspire the graduating
class, ultimately persuading the students to Stay foolish, stay hungry . Jobs shows that he is a reliable
example by describing this achievement throughout his life. He expands on his ethical appeal to the
crowd by explaining his failures, We d just released our finest creation... and I had just turned 30. And
then I got fired (Jobs 3). Jobs is known as a highly successful businessman. Jobs, however; expands
on his failure and is open about it. It is thought that once something goes wrong there is no way to get
back from it. But Jobs recalls being fired from Apple as the best thing that could have ever happened
to me (Jobs 2). Jobs uses his failure to further expand on the importance of staying creative and
remaining ambitious. Jobs had to move on from his job and when he did, I started a company named
NeXT... In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, and I returned to Apple, and the
technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple s current renaissance (Jobs 3). Jobs is

Voter Suppression And Voting Suppression
What is voter suppression?
The voter suppression strategy is used to influence the outcome of an election by dissuading voters
from exercising their right to vote. Voter suppression should not be comparable to campaigning
because the two differs significantly. Campaigning in its political sense is the ability to change voter s
likelihood of voting behavior to change their opinions through persuasion. Voter suppression on the
other hand attempts to reduce the number of voters by means of suppression.
History of voter suppression The United States first began to deal with the issue of voter suppression
during the Reconstruction. During Reconstruction freed slaves earned their right to vote and hold
office through the fifteenth amendment in 1870. In 1877, Democrats, known as Dixiecrats, began to
impose laws that were designed to suppress the African American vote or better known as Jim Crow
Laws. The Jim Crow voting laws required the freedmen to pass literacy tests that they were unable to
pass because of no formal education because of their status of slaves. Many states created poll taxes,
which many poor Americans, white and black, were unable to pay. Many precincts made their voting
precincts white only so that blacks would have nowhere to cast their votes. The Jim Crow voter
suppression tactics were so successful that only three percent of African Americans in the south were
registered to vote in 1940. Although African American males were given the right to vote in

Personal Question
Why do I keep my Jeep when it keeps breaking down on me? That is the question that I have asked
myself multiple times over the summer. To this day, I have put more time, effort and money into my
Jeep than it is actually worth. So why continue to restore this beautifully ancient beast? Well, the
answer is actually very simple; I love working on it. When I was first told that I was getting an
automobile, I expected to go out and hand pick one that I deemed suitable for my everyday tasks. To
my surprise, my father pretty much narrowed the selection process down for me, providing me with a
specific list of Craigslist adds that he had compiled during his work day. After browsing this selection,
I had settled on a 1987 light blue Jeep Wrangler, with a soft top and a sport roll cage. This jeep came
with the legendary fuel injected 4.0 Liter, 6 cylinder engine, aptly nicknamed the Tank , due to its
sturdy construction of cast iron. The fact that we found this jeep for under five thousand dollars was
astonishing to me, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity presented to me. When my father and I
had finally settled on this Jeep, we drove to savannah to inspect it ourselves. When we arrived at the

Essay On Life Of A Superintendent
Life of a Superintendent
Taking care of a golf course is a great field to go into because supervisors get the winter months off,
they only need two years of college minimum, have to be a good supervisor for the crew members,
and they have to be self motivated to be a golf course superintendent.
There is a bunch of things that superintendents do. One thing they do is mow. Now on a golf course
there is a lot of grass and it has to be maintained to a certain height. The greens are mowed lower than
the fairways and the rough. Mowing is a crucial point of a golf course because that will determine the
greens rolling speed and nobody likes slow greens. The greens are the part where the cups are cut and

watering is a the biggest part of watering. If there is dry spots or anything looking funky out there then
they grab a hose and start hand watering. Spraying is the biggest part of a golf course. If the
superintendent doesn t spray then say goodbye to it. They spray pesticides, herbicides, and fungicide.
Pesticides will kill any kind of pest that is on a golf course. A couple of examples of pesticides to be
found are grubs, worms and ants. Herbicides is used to kill weeds and if they apply to much to an area
you could also kill grass. There is a ton a weeds out there but the old chemicals are not doing the trick
anymore just because the weeds are prone to it and it just won t die out. Scientist are working on
making new formulations to make sure they won t be prone to it anymore and will die. Fungicides are
used for diseases and can be sprayed at a preventative rate or curative rate. The two most common
diseases on a golf course are dollar spot and brown patch. Dollar spot are like quarter size brown spots
that can be found on fairways and greens. It feeds off of water and will start to expand if not treated
right away. Brown patch is a circle and will be brown but leave the green turf in the middle and it will
die if not treated.
The working environment on a golf course is dangerous and also can be nice. The dangerous side of it
is that they are outside all the time and the people working could be a long ways from

Losing Vietnam on the Home front
Forty six years have passed since the United States officially stopped their involvement in Vietnam.
Not since the Civil war had the country been so torn. Every American family was impacted, losing
husbands, sons, and daughters. Over fifty thousand Americans were killed and many more still suffer
deep physical and emotional scars . Veterans took their own lives, were treated as social outcasts, or
ended up on the streets with the homeless. The Vietnam conflict was a war that many did not
understand and that left a nation questioning the government they had always trusted.

involvement in the Vietnam War. Some advocates within this movement advocated a unilateral
withdrawal of U.S. forces from South Vietnam.
In 1965 the movement began to gain national prominence. Aggressive actions by police and protesters
turned the anti war demonstrations in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention into a riot.
News reports of American military abuses, such as the 1968 My Lai Massacre, brought new attention
and support to the anti war movement bringing it to its height. The movement continued to prosper
over the span of the conflict.
The Mỹ Lai Massacre was the Vietnam War mass killing of between 347 and 504 unarmed civilians in
South Vietnam on March 16, 1968. Victims included men, women, children, and infants. The
massacre, which was later called the most shocking episode of the Vietnam War , took place in two
hamlets of Sơn Mỹ village in Quảng Ngãi Province. These hamlets were marked on the U.S. Army
topographic maps as My Lai and My Khe. The U.S. military codeword for the alleged Viet Cong
stronghold in that area was Pinkville, and the carnage was initially referred to as the Pinkville
Massacre. Later, when the U.S. Army started its investigation, the media changed it to the Massacre at
Songmy. Currently, the event is referred to as the My Lai Massacre in the United States and called the
Son My Massacre in Vietnam.
High profile opposition to the Vietnam war turned to street protests in an effort to turn U.S.

The Chinese Film Shaolin Directed By Benny Chan
Buddha be praised, as many monks said after the passing of one s life (Shaolin, 00:03:00). The
Chinese Film Shaolin directed by Benny Chan tells a story of a historical event that was based on a
true story, but warped a little in order to fit the time period of today. Monks are considered high class
in the Chinese clan system, while those of a refugee status are no more than mere pigs in the eyes of
the Warlords. The Shaolin Monastery is located in the Songshan Mountains in Dengfeng City, Henan
Province of today; similarly, the movie is set in Dengfeng city and at the monastery. The Shaolin
Monastery is a combination of supernatural powers of Buddhism and the wisdom of Chan Buddhism.
The Buddhism belief and Chan wisdom is the cultural connection that one gets from meditating at this
monastery. Martial arts are ways of defense amongst the Asian culture, and the Shaolin Kung Fu was
developed to help train the monks bodies because the Chinese people believed that too much
meditation will develop a weak body (Shaolin Temple). That being said, Benny Chan s use of
narrative elements in his movie Shaolin to convey Chinese culture in the Henan Province represents a
similar depiction of what had occurred during the Tang Dynasty. His purpose is to portray the idea that
it is never too late for one to have a change of heart. For starters, the death of a precious person can

Certain models predict that drought activity is expected to increase toward the end of the 21st century
and particularly in the Colorado River Basin (MacDonald Turner, 21260). When the dam was built in
the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre feet) at Lees Ferry, Arizona
which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of the Colorado River
average to about 13.8 14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built in a period with an
unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9 MAF. (Bolin, Seetharam,
Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF (MacDonald Turner, 21256). Some
models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5 to 4.5 MAF in the next 30 50 years. (Bolin,
Seetharam, Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in the Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts
have been occurring throughout the 20th century with droughts from 1900 1904, 1924 1936, 1953
1964, and 1988 1991. These droughts are associated with warmer regional temperatures and the level
of warming is deemed exceptional for the 21st century (MacDonald Turner, 21257). Recently the
Colorado River has experienced the lowest 5 year mean flows on record (MacDonald Turner, 21257).
If river flow is low, so is Lake Powell s water level. One study suggests that Lake Powell have a 50%

Sport and Exercise Are Good for Your Health’
Sport and exercise are good for your health Introduction The saying sport and exercise are good for
your health appears at first to be an irrefutable fact. However in this assignment I am going to look the
information and facts that agree with this statement, and then compare and contrast with the
information that disagrees. To begin it would seem logical to define the words in the statement to gain
better understanding of their meaning. Sport has several meanings, such as one being a good sport by
showing honesty and respect even when defeated but for the purposes of this essay sport will be
defined as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes

As with the obesity epidemic exercise has been proven to improve an individual s mental state. When
carrying out any form of strenuous exercise the pituitary gland in the brain releases chemicals called
endorphins. Exercise can lead to an improved mood, a feeling of euphoria often called the runners
high (Peak Performance, 2008). It has also been proven to increase neurogenesis, the creation of new
neurons in the hippocampus in the brain. Studies have shown that humans begin to lose nerve tissue at
approximately 30 years of age. The effect exercise has on the brain increases neural connections,
creating a denser network so we are able to process and store information. It has also been shown to
initiate brain derived neurotrophic factor or BDNF that acts as a protective response to stress and
improve synaptic plasticity which improves the efficiency of signal transmission between neurons.
This transfer is generally considered the basis for learning and memory (McGovern, 2005). Looking at
the information presented there is far more support to show exercise is more beneficial than it is
detrimental to an individual s health. The negative implications could become apparent when an
individual does not fully understand the way the body reacts or responds to exercise. The saying too
much of a good thing (Shakespeare, 1623) comes in to play when planning a programme of exercise.

Analysis Of The Poem The Of Mendoza Utilises Onofre...
It is fair to say that Mendoza utilises Onofre Bouvila as a character to be portrayed as a direct parallel
to the development and aspirations of Barcelona. This is expressed in the novel, since; it is irrelevant
how rich and powerful Onofre becomes. This is due to the fact that, he can never be on the top table of
the social ladder literally and figuratively, due to his impoverished upbringing and working class
background. corrió hacia la mesa presidencial... Al llegar a la mesa advirtió que no quedaba una sola

Therefore, one can surmise that Barcelona will never be able to consider it as the most significant and
influential city in Spain. This is mainly due to the fact that, it has the smaller population and is not the
capital city.
This is further illustrated with Onofre at the end of the book. When Onofre disappears on his flying
machine it is Mendoza s method to demonstrate to the reader that Onofre has given up on his
aspiration of achieving the highest echelons of the social ladder in Spain. This could be Mendoza s
intention to show that Barcelona s aspiration to escape the suppression by the hands of Madrid is
dissipating. Los que alertados por el ruido de los motores habían salido a los balcones o habían subido
a los terrados vieron cómo la máquina voladora desviaba sur umbo hacia el mar, como si la empujara
un viento repentino de poniente. This shows us that Mendoza is trying to tell the reader that what
happened to Onofre is not important to us. This could be a criticism by Mendoza, about the vociferous
nature of which Barcelona and Catalonia attempt to gain independence from Spain. He achieves this
denigration by displaying Catalonia s cries for independence as falling on deaf ears. Hence Mendoza
uses the character of Onofre to express his point of view that the objectives Catalonia

what it seems. They go through many adventures together, such as crazy quests, facing the people who
bully them and helping each other with their weaknesses. They have have had many ups and downs,
but whatever happens by the end of the day their strong bond brings them back together. Although
they may have a weird friendship, the two boys have a bond like no other. Their story shows that
family is determined more by one s actions than by blood. Max struggles with a lot such as his height
and his trouble with learning. One main thing he struggles with is problems with his father. Max has
never really known his father. When news about his father s past start coming back up it is hard for
Max to deal with them. Max has always been bullied because of his father and his struggles with
learning. Bullies from Max s school say, Maxi Pad! Maxi Pad! Ask him quick about his dad! Killer
Kane! Killer Kane! Had a kid who got no brain! (Philbrick 76). Freak was always accepted Max. That
helped Max cope when he got called to the principal s office, where he received news that was not
easy for him to handle. The principal uttered to Max, A request from your father. Maxwell, your father
wants to know if (Philbrick 84). Max goes on to reply, I don t want to hear it!

Experiment 2b Biology Lab Report
The specific aims for Experiment 1 was to study the efficiency of phagocytosis analyzing the
macrophages abilities to engulf Nile Red beads. We also looked at the impacts of effectors on their
abilities and also different concentrations of resolvin. For Experiment 2A, we studied the efficiency of
efferocytosis by analyzing the macrophages abilities to engulf and digest apoptotic cells under various
effectors and concentrations. In Experiment 2B, we studied the efficiency of efferocytosis by
analyzing the macrophages abilities to engulf and digest apoptotic cells under effectors and cytokines.
We hypothesized that having an effector (resolvin D 2 and lipoxin) and a pro resolving cytokine (IL
13) would increase efferocytosis than having either one alone or having neither one. Experimental
Design Experiment 1, 2A and 2B The experimental design addresses the specific aims for experiment
1 because we used 96 well dishes and added various effectors like dexamethasone, lipoxin, and
resolvin, and resolvin at different concentrations (1, 2.5, 5 nM). The macrophages were then given
fluorescently labeled Nile Red polystyrene beads to engulf. The plates were washed with the Biotek

475 N.E.2d 1167, 1170 (Ind. Ct. App. 1985). The bartender, Mr. John Daniels did not have any
definite awareness of Mr. Hard s intoxication. Mr. Daniels is not able to recall any unusual behavior
that was displayed by Mr. Hard. He does not have any reclamation of observing Mr. Edward Hard
tripping over the pool stick because he had stepped away from the room. He did witness an argument
start at the entrance doorway between Mr. Bruno White and Mr. Edward Hard in which Mr. Hard
provoked. There were no additional drinks served after the altercation took place, the final alcoholic
beverage had been ordered and served prior to the incident and therefore is not said to be actual
knowledge. The last drink is the cutoff point for the statue and where the definite ruling intervenes.
The process is in order to try and obtain an abstract opinion from Mr. John Daniels stating that he had
no familiarity of Mr. Hard being drunk. When Mr. Edward Hard left the O Malley s Tavern he
followed Mr. Bruno White in a careless manner, damaging numerous vehicles and consequently
hitting Mr. White s automobile and killing him. The direct aim of Mr. Hard is being safeguarded with
the implication of a motor vehicle accident while being intoxicated. The understanding and cause of

Environmental Issues In Madagascar Essay
Environmental issues exist in Madagascar because of the problems that our society composes. Worst
of all, Madagascar continues to face an economic depression and as well as losing the land that
animals use to roam freely. Many countries around the world depend on the island s significant natural
resources. Sadly with a blink of an eye, the beauty of the island disappears without anyone taking
charge. Karin Brulliard exposes the problems in Madagascar with a statement throughout her
narration:
Years of deforestation and slash and burn agriculture left just 10 percent of Madagascar s original
vegetation and protecting what remains is an urgent concern of international conservation groups. That
effort has made great strides in the past three decades, they say, through programs to expand protected
areas and encourage sustainable farming (Brulliard).
Despite the fact that citizens in Madagascar are destitute and need the forest s resources, citizens of
Madagascar have caused the destruction of their homeland through their irresponsible farming
practices and illegal trades. Although deforestation has occurred for hundreds of years, the number of
cases in which forests have vanished has increased. When the forest is being cut down dramatically,
the habitats of many animals are being taken away, making it harder for animals to stay alive. For
example, the disappearance of the forest has led to 90 percent of the lemurs being endangered. Even

Advantages Of Orthodontic Treatment Planning
INTRODUCTION
As they say What we measure shapes what we collectively strive to pursue and what we pursue
determines what we measure . If u can make the diagnosis, the treatment is easy and the damage can
be reserved but making the diagnosis can be tricky. Successful orthodontic treatment is based on
comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning. Orthodontic treatment planning poses significant
challenges for clinicians with their ability to provide the predictable results for a patient in effective
and safest manner.1. Similarly, orthodontists must objectively address the challenge of assessing
treatment results1. The tooth size specifically the mesiodistal width of the teeth is one of the basic
fundamentals with which the orthodontist has to deal2.

If you can t control it you can t improve it. In orthodontics, dental models measurements are an
integral part of armamentarium used for treatment planning and diagnosis traditionally, diagnostic
measurements has been obtained from plaster dental casts. An orthodontist should be skilled in
measuring mesiodistal teeth width accurately. Any flaws in this measurement may lead to errors
between total tooth material and arch length. Study models provide a three dimensional view of
maxillary and mandibular dental arches in all three planes of space i.e transverse, sagittal and vertical.
The consumer protection act 1987 (United Kingdom) for medico legal purposes, states that it is
necessary to retain all patient records not less than 11 years. The British association of orthodontics
recommends that study models should be kept for 11 years or until the patient is 26 years

Einsatzgruppen Nicknames
When the Holocaust is mentioned, the first thing people think of is usually the concentration camps or
Hitler. Most people forget about the other tragic events that occurred outside of the camps. More
importantly, they usually identify they blame the wrong people who had committed these crimes. The
Einsatzgruppen had operated in the territories and areas owned by the Germans.
For those who might not understand, I would like to explain who the Einsatzgruppen were. The
Einsatzgruppen had a variety of nicknames that they were called. For instance, they were called the
killing squads and the mobile killing units. The Einsatzgruppen were squads composed primarily of

In the late summer of 1941, Heinrich Himmler requested that a more convenient mode of killing be

mobile gas chamber surmounted on the chassis of a cargo truck which employed carbon monoxide
from the truck s exhaust to kill its victims (ushmm.org) . Gas vans had made their appearance in the
late fall of 1941 and were used wherever the Einsatzgruppen operated (ushmm.org) . Although I did
not read where they took the vans, I am guessing that they traveled from town to town searching for
Jews. There was probably a set number of gas vans that were assigned a certain area to attack so that
they could cover more ground. Two different types of gas vans had been built: a larger one, 5.8 meters
in length, and a smaller one, measuring 4.5 meters (Levine, jewishvirtuallibrary.org) . When densely
packed, the small van could hold 80 to 100 people and the larger van could accommodate between 130

The rear cabin was where the Jews were stored and where the gas had been released. During the time

To What Extent Are Earthquakes More Dangerous Than Volcanoes
I believe that earthquakes are way more dangerous than volcanoes. I believe that they are more
dangerous than volcanoes because they can affect any city, state, or country at any time anywhere. The
aftermath of the earthquakes are more destructive to an area, and cost way more for the government to
clean up. For example, the earthquake that happened in Haiti several years ago devastated the country
a lot. The devastating earthquake was a magnitude of 7, and left 230,000 dead, as well as over 300,000

Essay On Probable Cause For The Isolation Of The Innocent
Probable Cause for the Accusation of the Innocent What is wrong and right? A question of which the
answer is not certainly clear. Though this may be the case, humans in general, have a sense of good
judgment and justice. Then why, in so many obvious and unfortunate cases, are innocent people
wrongly accused and forced to pay for an action that was not there own or even completely absent? I,
as well as many others, am puzzled by this question. I propose some possible answers for this
question, from my opinion. I personally believe the wrongly accused have been persecuted as such
because of false evidence/assumption, personal beliefs/prejudice, or purposeful interference. Firstly, a
seemingly decent explanation as to why people may be falsely accused is because of false evidence
and or assumptions. One example that fits nicely is of Richard Jewell, a guard at the Olympics who
took action, and was diligent and courageous to attempt to clear civilians of the area, but eventually
became the main suspect of the heinous crime (Sack 1 2). Though he was never convicted of the
crime, he endured constant torment and questioning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

government in which the majority rule in all cases cannot be based on justice (Thoreau 1). The
majority has only power, not justice. This leads me to believe that they would make decisions based
on what s in their own best interest, not what is right. Why not then, directly interfere with the results

Comparison Of Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus
Pieter Brueghel was a 16th century Netherlandish Renaissance painter who completed Landscape with
the Fall of Icarus in 1558. His painting was inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Daedalus and
Icarus. William Carlos Williams, a Puerto Rican American poet, wrote a poem inspired by Brueghel s
work in 1960 similarly titled Landscape with the Fall of Icarus . There is a common theme displayed
in both works which both execute and establish this theme with different visual and literary
connotations and strengths using differing amounts of information provided through their artistic
mediums. which create an effectiveness with the end all goal being to explain that time will pass by
regardless of what is going on in an individual s world even if they want it all to stop at once.
The painting lays a scene of a landscape of an Island territory and several different people and
animals. In the eye catching foreground we see a farmer herding a large amount of animals their focus
is darted to the left of the painting. we will come to learn that all mentioned figures and objects in the
painting have a visual focus to facing to the left, as our eyes draw towards the right and farther out we
notice off in the distance you see an image of the fisherman off to the coast (a pair of legs submersed
in water as well not too far off). In the north you see a ship that seems to dwarf them both in size and

Overview
In this section, we discuss a case study involving use of the Virtual Reality simulation environment for
assembly analysis (VAE?) and GENI resources; the primary emphasis was to compare suitability of
remote collabora tion protocols that can support several engineers from different locations to analyze
the design of micro parts and propose, compare and validate/modify assembly plans. The GENI
resources utilized in this case study included the ProtoGENI aggregate [4], and the OnTimeMeasure
[6] software for instrumentation and measurement.
The potential benefits for allowing a user to collaborate with remote experts while assessing a part s
design by utilizing virtual reality environments and other tools is attractive to both education and
commercial manufacturing segments. Vir tualization and cloud based resources offer affordable as
well as on demand methods for students in K 12 and universities to learn about advanced
manufacturing problems without the need of expensive local resources. Research efforts has
emphasized the emergence of cyber physical frameworks to support assembly of micro devices

Step One is to identify the decision to be made. In my case, the decision was whether to take a new
job opportunity or remain in my existing position.
Step Two is to do a self assessment. At this point, I began to consider my needs and wants. Would the
new opportunity really be something I would enjoy? Would it be challenging? This particular new
opportunity was an office position. I am accustomed to working in the field. So I had to ask myself
how will I adapt to the everyday office environment.
Step Three is to identify the options. I began to gather information about other potential opportunities
that may soon be an option. Should I settle for this opportunity or what for one more suitable for me,
is a question I proposed to myself.
Step Four is to gather information and data. I reviewed the salary potential of the job opportunity. I
considered the current salary and potential future salary increase.
Step Five is to evaluate options that will solve the problem. In trying to make my decision, I listed the
pros and cons. I thought about the potential disadvantages of leaving my current position.
Step Six is to select on of the options. At this point, Roberts believes you should have enough
information to choose an option. In my decision, I had all the information I needed to make my

Briefly describe the two specific systemic crises you have selected.
In this week application, I will pay attention to natural disaster (floods) and school based crisis
situations. Floods refer to an overflow of water from a water body due to excessive rainfall or input in
water from its source exceeding the usual capacity of the water body. The over whelming flow of
water is catastrophic leading to destruction of infrastructure, plants as well as causing loss of life to
both animal and human beings. Flood may occur slowly while in cases of flash flood, they occur
instantly within a short duration of minutes.
School based crisis refer to unforeseen predicaments affecting a school set up. A school based crisis

Functions Of The Synapse Of Neurological Functioning
Functioning The connection between neurons is essential for neurological function. Interaction
between two neurons is called the synapse. In order for the synapse to operate, an action potential
must first happen. If one does not work, then the whole neurological function will not, which will
eventually lead to humans not working at all as a whole. This paper will look into the two following
subjects in Neurological Functioning:
1. Action Potential
2. The Synapse
Understanding the roles of the action potential and synapse will help the reader s have a sense of
knowledge in the subject to fully understand the it s tasks are and how they play an essential role in
the everyday life.
Action Potential Before we discuss the role of the synapse in neurological functioning, we must first
understand the action potential. According to researchers O Donnell and Van Rossum (2015), an
action potential occurs when a neuron sends information down an axon, away from the body cell
(p.801). They stated that, Action potential rely crucially on the voltage gated channels in the neural
membrane (p.801). The classic experiment by Alan Hodgkin and Andrew Huxley describe how small
depolarization s of the membrane makes the Na (sodium) channels open
(as cited in Freberg, 2015, p.81). This causes the ion flux to further depolarize the membrane. Once
this happens, the action potential has been activated which is then terminated by the hyperpolarizing K
(potassium) channels that follow the

  • 2. Night Vale Monologue The gravel crunches under my feet as I wander down the length of our driveway towards the empty county road. I fiddle with my headphones and my blue, rubbery armband holding my iPod; my podcast isn t coming through clearly. I fix my right earphone in time to hear Cecil drawl out Welcome to Night Vale, and I smile honestly for the first time all day. I have an unorthodox relationship with running. As a child, I swore I would never run, that I loathed even the mere idea of running for fun. But now, I find it an escape, a paradise where I can truly be who I am, with no exceptions.. The run over pedestrian sign makes much more sense, I articulate out loud, although I know perfectly well there is no one to hear me; I also know that I would receive peculiar looks for that quirky statement. I don t care. I am alone and I am myself. I turn back towards home, the rapidly disappearing sun to my right hand side now. I run a bit faster, my giggles and thoughts of hypnotic city equipment spurring me on. My stride bounces a bit as I run on the lopsided county road. Lopsided. I think. My sense of humor is lopsided like the road, my sense of happiness, a bit bizarre, but I feel completely at home no matter what the out side view of me is. I turn my thoughts back to the podcast; Dana the Intern is speaking now: I remember diagonals of sunlight in the late afternoon, drawn across its flat expanse, transversed by my grandfather s hand as he swept it through whatever story he was telling, to highlight the words with motion, to motion us closer to the words. I visualize he grandfather, a wrinkled, elderly man with tanned skin, telling stories to his grandchildren. I reminisce on my grandfather; long gone for some time now, whom was kind and encouraged my spunk. I slow to a walk. I am a stone s throw from my home; I can feel the responsibilities calling me ... Always the Lowest Price at Wal-Mart Essay Always the Lowest Price at Wal Mart Over the past 20 years, the nature of the American retailing market has changed dramatically, going from Mom and Pop s boutiques to mega retail stores like Wal Mart. Especially in the last decade, Sam Walton s discount stores have proliferated in almost every city across the United States and Canada. But the opinions about the effects of Wal Mart in small towns divide the rural population in two groups. Through economic, cultural and social arguments, the anti Wal Mart activists and the advocates defend their point of view about the expansion of the store in small communities. The tranquil and friendly way of life in small communities is threatened by the urban one stop shopping culture of the giant. The population in regions does not want a store where the atmosphere is cold and artificial. In essence, the anti Wal Mart activists want to stop the store from establishing itself in rural communities because they believe that it would destroy their economic and cultural identity. On the opposite side, the population in favour of Wal Mart thinks that the creation of new stores in rural regions stimulates the economy and that the local businesses are responsible for the problems faced on Main Street because they are not adapted to the modern retailing market. First of all, the opening of a mega discount store in a region attracts people from other small towns. This affluence of customers is beneficial to the local businesses that sell complementary products near the Wal Mart. The advocates of the store also affirm that the company creates jobs. But if local merchants want to benefit from Wal Mart, they have to evolve with the market and change their way of doing things. As said by Jo Ann Johnston, adaptation is the key element: ``People are beginning to realize that small town merchants need to adapt to changes in their communities, the economy, and their industries instead of chastising an outside company`` (1995, p.222). • 9. Voter Suppression And Voting Suppression What is voter suppression? The voter suppression strategy is used to influence the outcome of an election by dissuading voters from exercising their right to vote. Voter suppression should not be comparable to campaigning because the two differs significantly. Campaigning in its political sense is the ability to change voter s likelihood of voting behavior to change their opinions through persuasion. Voter suppression on the other hand attempts to reduce the number of voters by means of suppression. History of voter suppression The United States first began to deal with the issue of voter suppression during the Reconstruction. During Reconstruction freed slaves earned their right to vote and hold office through the fifteenth amendment in 1870. In 1877, Democrats, known as Dixiecrats, began to impose laws that were designed to suppress the African American vote or better known as Jim Crow Laws. The Jim Crow voting laws required the freedmen to pass literacy tests that they were unable to pass because of no formal education because of their status of slaves. Many states created poll taxes, which many poor Americans, white and black, were unable to pay. Many precincts made their voting precincts white only so that blacks would have nowhere to cast their votes. The Jim Crow voter suppression tactics were so successful that only three percent of African Americans in the south were registered to vote in 1940. To this day, I have put more time, effort and money into my Jeep than it is actually worth. So why continue to restore this beautifully ancient beast? Well, the answer is actually very simple; I love working on it. When I was first told that I was getting an automobile, I expected to go out and hand pick one that I deemed suitable for my everyday tasks. To my surprise, my father pretty much narrowed the selection process down for me, providing me with a specific list of Craigslist adds that he had compiled during his work day. After browsing this selection, I had settled on a 1987 light blue Jeep Wrangler, with a soft top and a sport roll cage. This jeep came with the legendary fuel injected 4.0 Liter, 6 cylinder engine, aptly nicknamed the Tank , due to its sturdy construction of cast iron. The fact that we found this jeep for under five thousand dollars was astonishing to me, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity presented to me. The Chinese Film Shaolin directed by Benny Chan tells a story of a historical event that was based on a true story, but warped a little in order to fit the time period of today. Monks are considered high class in the Chinese clan system, while those of a refugee status are no more than mere pigs in the eyes of the Warlords. The Shaolin Monastery is located in the Songshan Mountains in Dengfeng City, Henan Province of today; similarly, the movie is set in Dengfeng city and at the monastery. The Shaolin Monastery is a combination of supernatural powers of Buddhism and the wisdom of Chan Buddhism. The Buddhism belief and Chan wisdom is the cultural connection that one gets from meditating at this monastery. Martial arts are ways of defense amongst the Asian culture, and the Shaolin Kung Fu was developed to help train the monks bodies because the Chinese people believed that too much meditation will develop a weak body (Shaolin Temple). That being said, Benny Chan s use of narrative elements in his movie Shaolin to convey Chinese culture in the Henan Province represents a similar depiction of what had occurred during the Tang Dynasty. When the dam was built in the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre feet) at Lees Ferry, Arizona which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of the Colorado River average to about 13.8 14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built in a period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9 MAF. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF (MacDonald Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5 to 4.5 MAF in the next 30 50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in the Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts have been occurring throughout the 20th century with droughts from 1900 1904, 1924 1936, 1953 1964, and 1988 1991. These droughts are associated with warmer regional temperatures and the level of warming is deemed exceptional for the 21st century (MacDonald Turner, 21257). However in this assignment I am going to look the information and facts that agree with this statement, and then compare and contrast with the information that disagrees. To begin it would seem logical to define the words in the statement to gain better understanding of their meaning. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As with the obesity epidemic exercise has been proven to improve an individual s mental state. When carrying out any form of strenuous exercise the pituitary gland in the brain releases chemicals called endorphins. Exercise can lead to an improved mood, a feeling of euphoria often called the runners high (Peak Performance, 2008). It has also been proven to increase neurogenesis, the creation of new neurons in the hippocampus in the brain. Studies have shown that humans begin to lose nerve tissue at approximately 30 years of age. The effect exercise has on the brain increases neural connections, creating a denser network so we are able to process and store information. It has also been shown to initiate brain derived neurotrophic factor or BDNF that acts as a protective response to stress and improve synaptic plasticity which improves the efficiency of signal transmission between neurons. This transfer is generally considered the basis for learning and memory (McGovern, 2005). Looking at the information presented there is far more support to show exercise is more beneficial than it is detrimental to an individual s health. The negative implications could become apparent when an individual does not fully understand the way the body reacts or responds to exercise. Therefore, one can surmise that Barcelona will never be able to consider it as the most significant and influential city in Spain. This is mainly due to the fact that, it has the smaller population and is not the capital city. This is further illustrated with Onofre at the end of the book. When Onofre disappears on his flying machine it is Mendoza s method to demonstrate to the reader that Onofre has given up on his aspiration of achieving the highest echelons of the social ladder in Spain. This could be Mendoza s intention to show that Barcelona s aspiration to escape the suppression by the hands of Madrid is dissipating. Los que alertados por el ruido de los motores habían salido a los balcones o habían subido a los terrados vieron cómo la máquina voladora desviaba sur umbo hacia el mar, como si la empujara un viento repentino de poniente. This could be a criticism by Mendoza, about the vociferous nature of which Barcelona and Catalonia attempt to gain independence from Spain. Many countries around the world depend on the island s significant natural resources. Sadly with a blink of an eye, the beauty of the island disappears without anyone taking charge. Karin Brulliard exposes the problems in Madagascar with a statement throughout her narration: Years of deforestation and slash and burn agriculture left just 10 percent of Madagascar s original vegetation and protecting what remains is an urgent concern of international conservation groups. That effort has made great strides in the past three decades, they say, through programs to expand protected areas and encourage sustainable farming (Brulliard). Despite the fact that citizens in Madagascar are destitute and need the forest s resources, citizens of Madagascar have caused the destruction of their homeland through their irresponsible farming practices and illegal trades. Although deforestation has occurred for hundreds of years, the number of cases in which forests have vanished has increased. I believe that they are more dangerous than volcanoes because they can affect any city, state, or country at any time anywhere. The aftermath of the earthquakes are more destructive to an area, and cost way more for the government to clean up. For example, the earthquake that happened in Haiti several years ago devastated the country a lot. The devastating earthquake was a magnitude of 7, and left 230,000 dead, as well as over 300,000 people injured. Most of the country went into poverty right after this, and the Red Cross immediately got involved. The earthquake also damaged over 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings, as well as 15,000 primary schools and 1,500 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Essay On Probable Cause For The Isolation Of The Innocent Probable Cause for the Accusation of the Innocent What is wrong and right? A question of which the answer is not certainly clear. Though this may be the case, humans in general, have a sense of good judgment and justice. Then why, in so many obvious and unfortunate cases, are innocent people wrongly accused and forced to pay for an action that was not there own or even completely absent? I, as well as many others, am puzzled by this question. I propose some possible answers for this question, from my opinion. I personally believe the wrongly accused have been persecuted as such because of false evidence/assumption, personal beliefs/prejudice, or purposeful interference. Firstly, a seemingly decent explanation as to why people may be falsely accused is because of false evidence and or assumptions. One example that fits nicely is of Richard Jewell, a guard at the Olympics who took action, and was diligent and courageous to attempt to clear civilians of the area, but eventually became the main suspect of the heinous crime (Sack 1 2). Though he was never convicted of the crime, he endured constant torment and questioning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all, the practical reason why, when the power is once in the hands of the people, a majority are permitted, and for a long period continue, to rule, is not because they are most likely to be in the right, nor because this seems fairest to the minority, but because they are physically the strongest. But a government in which the majority rule in all cases cannot be based on justice (Thoreau 1). The majority has only power, not justice. This leads me to believe that they would make decisions based on what s in their own best interest, not what is right. Why not then, directly interfere with the results of a trial, to suit your personal preference? Nobody can do anything about it when you have all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Comparison Of Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus Pieter Brueghel was a 16th century Netherlandish Renaissance painter who completed Landscape with the Fall of Icarus in 1558. His painting was inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus. William Carlos Williams, a Puerto Rican American poet, wrote a poem inspired by Brueghel s work in 1960 similarly titled Landscape with the Fall of Icarus . There is a common theme displayed in both works which both execute and establish this theme with different visual and literary connotations and strengths using differing amounts of information provided through their artistic mediums. which create an effectiveness with the end all goal being to explain that time will pass by regardless of what is going on in an individual s world even if they want it all to stop at once. The painting lays a scene of a landscape of an Island territory and several different people and animals. In the eye catching foreground we see a farmer herding a large amount of animals their focus is darted to the left of the painting. we will come to learn that all mentioned figures and objects in the painting have a visual focus to facing to the left, as our eyes draw towards the right and farther out we notice off in the distance you see an image of the fisherman off to the coast (a pair of legs submersed in water as well not too far off). In the north you see a ship that seems to dwarf them both in size and space. With this we can draw the connection that this relates to the idea that time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cloud based IoT interactions to support simulation analysis using VAE (don t change this title, use it in last section of paper befor examples) Overview In this section, we discuss a case study involving use of the Virtual Reality simulation environment for assembly analysis (VAE?) and GENI resources; the primary emphasis was to compare suitability of remote collabora tion protocols that can support several engineers from different locations to analyze the design of micro parts and propose, compare and validate/modify assembly plans. The GENI resources utilized in this case study included the ProtoGENI aggregate [4], and the OnTimeMeasure [6] software for instrumentation and measurement. The potential benefits for allowing a user to collaborate with remote experts while assessing a part s design by utilizing virtual reality environments and other tools is attractive to both education and commercial manufacturing segments. Vir tualization and cloud based resources offer affordable as well as on demand methods for students in K 12 and universities to learn about advanced manufacturing problems without the need of expensive local resources. Research efforts has emphasized the emergence of cyber physical frameworks to support assembly of micro devices [include Lu and Cecil IJAMT paper reference here}. • 37. Functions Of The Synapse Of Neurological Functioning Functioning The connection between neurons is essential for neurological function. Interaction between two neurons is called the synapse. In order for the synapse to operate, an action potential must first happen. If one does not work, then the whole neurological function will not, which will eventually lead to humans not working at all as a whole. This paper will look into the two following subjects in Neurological Functioning: 1. Action Potential 2. The Synapse Understanding the roles of the action potential and synapse will help the reader s have a sense of knowledge in the subject to fully understand the it s tasks are and how they play an essential role in the everyday life. Action Potential Before we discuss the role of the synapse in neurological functioning, we must first understand the action potential. According to researchers O Donnell and Van Rossum (2015), an action potential occurs when a neuron sends information down an axon, away from the body cell (p.801). They stated that, Action potential rely crucially on the voltage gated channels in the neural membrane (p.801). The classic experiment by Alan Hodgkin and Andrew Huxley describe how small depolarization s of the membrane makes the Na (sodium) channels open (as cited in Freberg, 2015, p.81). This causes the ion flux to further depolarize the membrane. Once this happens, the action potential has been activated which is then terminated by the hyperpolarizing K (potassium) channels that follow the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
