How Successful Were the Russian Governments in Promoting...
How successful were the Russian governments in promoting economic change and modernisation between 1881–1904?
After the Crimean War (1854–56) the econmoy in Russia slowly begun to develop.
Alexander II set the development of a railwail bulding programm and a limited spread of factories. But Russia's economy was still not as
well–developed as that in western Europe. So a real industrialisation took of in the reign of Alexander III and the help of Nicholas II's finance minsters
Ivan Vyshnegradsky and Sergei Witte.
The main point of those developments, was imporoving Russia's finances and buliding up the gold reserves.
For doing this Vyshnegradsky decided to increase the indirect taxes and mount a drive to swell grain exports.. By... Show more content on

These investments went into mining, matal trades and mostly in oil industry and banking.Besids Witte brought engeneers and managers from abroad
and begun to develop the growth of the railways and the importance of "heavy " industry with them. It was time an industrial revolution in Russia.
Russia begun to nationalise the railway companies in the 1880s. By 1905 nearly 66 percen of the whole railway system was state–owned. The most
important railway line was the Trans–Siberian (building 1891–1902), which crossed Russia from west (St.Petersburg) to east ( Vladivostock). Those
new railway lines linked the major areas of industrial producion and those with markets or ports.
So building these railway lines also helped the development of the industries along their length.
The development of iron and coal industries in the area of Moskow, St. Petersburg, the Baltic coast and the Ural Mountains to the east was heavily. This
industrial growth helped Russia being the fourth largest industrail economy in those times.
However there was more trade with grain than with industrial goods.
Even though the state budget more than doubled because of Witte's work , the dependece on loans from abroad , which had to be paid back, should not
fall in oblivion. Moreover Witte didn't aid the local industries and the agricultural modernasation since he thought the peasant could just be forced into

The Thinker By Dantes Inferno
One of the most well–known sculptures in the world, A French Sculptor, Auguste
–Rene Rodin created The Thinker (Also known as the thinking man)
and was first seen completed of the year 1904. In France, the thinker was originally named The Poet, respectively Le PoГЁte in French. Auguste
started creating the artwork for a doorway, named "The Gates of Hell". Rodin created the piece based off of "The Inferno", a section of the Divine
Comedy.
Dante Alighieri wrote his first section of the Epic to describe a soul to the journey onwards to Heaven. It starts with Dante in Hell, as he endures
suffering and punishment, while being guided by a poet named Virgil. The Gates of Hell summarize the first third of the Divine Comedy effectively.
This doorway includes The Thinker, who seems to be looking down on Hell or Inferno.
Many infer what the meaning of the Thinker could be the Actual character Dante in the poem, observing Hell as he does. He also could be portrayed
as the Writer looking down at his poem and his scene. Just by observing this you can tell that the pose has consideration, doubt, but overall literally
looking down on, avoiding hell, a sign of repentance of sin. This is just the backstory of the figure. In reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The figure shows a naked man sitting down with his fist underneath his chin, with a curious expression, usually sitting on a rock. Just to examine the
artwork itself, it is a great expression of philosophy, curiosity, meaning. Many critics say it is one of the most influential sculptures ever made. There
are many ways to understanding the meaning of Rodin's masterpiece. It can relate to people that are regretting a action, pursuing an action, looking
over on their life, Rodin was able to show various meanings and thoughts in only 1 sculpture. Arguably the most universal sculpture to ever been made.
This work also bears a fitting quote, "A picture is worth a thousand

What Were The Consequences Of German Imperialism
Germans undertook extensive colonialism in south–west Africa, and decided that the land should no longer belong to the native people. 1880, saw the
German's in control of a colony with large amounts of natives on the land. At this time there were two major native African ethnic groups present.
The Nama or Namaqua, which had a population of around twenty thousand people, and the Herero a group of cattle herders, which contained around
seventy five thousand people. German colonial rule was harsh and brutal, any type of resistance was met with brutality and severe consequences. The
clash between cultures would lead to a four year war that ended with the systematic murder and extermination of the ethnic groups: Nama, and
Herero. The war officially started in January of 1904 when Herero people attacked farms owned by Germans. Around one hundred and thirty people
were killed, but women, children and missionaries were left alone. The Germans soon took the upper hand and managed to win the battle, in May of
1904, General Lothar von Trotha became commander, and was in control of the actions taken by the German forces. He was a proponent of... Show

However, they were not prepared to fight back and eventually surrendered. Those who surrendered were sent to concentration camps. Around a
third of the prisoners did not even survive the transport to the camps. Diseases ran rampant through the camps, and many people died from typhus
and smallpox. These camps had similar conditions to what would later be known as Nazi concentration camps. An eyewitness described the people
in the camps, "They were in an enclosure on the beach, fenced in with barbed wire, women were made to do hard labor, just like the men, the sand
was thick and deep and they were expected to load carts and trolleys" (Fraser). Many men were killed, and women were often raped, or forced into

Analysis of the Increase in Charitable Giving Despite...
Despite 2008 seeing the largest annual drop ((5.6% decrease from 2007 in inflation–adjusted dollars)) since these statistics have been tracked, over
$300 billion was donated to charitable organizations–three–quarters of which came from individual donors. (FOUDNATION CENTER CITATION) It
is no wonder then that such a large amount of academic study has been invested in the subject. A myriad of studies have sought to investigate the
motivations behind the phenomenon of charitable giving. Everything from an individual's mood (Krebs, 1970; Piliavin & Charng, 1990; Simmons,

promoting the utilization of capitalistic marketing strategies by non–profit organizations–dating as far back as the 1960s. (Kotler) With
ever–decreasing government contributions and an inundation of new nonprofits (and with it, new competition), fundraising within the nonprofit sector

Psychologist B.F. Skinner was born March 20, 1904 and passed away August 18, 1990. Raised in a small town in Pennsylvania by his father William
who was a lawyer and his mother Grace. Skinner had a younger brother who he watched die at age sixteen due to cerebral hemorrhage. He attended
Hamilton College in New York with plans of becoming a writer. After graduating with his B.A. in English literature he attended Harvard University.
Here Skinner invented his prototype for the Skinner box. After Graduating he tried to write a novel which unsuccessfully failed. After his studies in

In September Skinner began his classes at Harvard. He was enrolled in Physiology 5; Physiology 20; Psychology 11; and elementary German due
to a language requirement. During the period of these classes Skinner found great joy in finding something through experimentation, and did many
experimental studies on the human consciousness and the study of animal intelligence. In this time Skinner also made a gadget which later would
play an important role in research, most widely known as the Skinner box. The device was a silent release box, operated by compressed air and
designed to eliminate disturbances when a rat was introduced into a habitation. In his first year of graduate school Skinner came close to changing
his field from psychology to physiology. His indecision was due to his belief that psychology was less scientific than physiology, and physiology
would allow the kind of experimenting he was more interested in. After deciding to stick with studying psychology he passed his German and French
exams required for his Ph.D. For the spring term he was enrolled in one philosophy course and three psychology courses, his favorite being

Mark Twain 's Clemens ' Notebook 1904
As Samuel L. Clemens, otherwise known as Mark Twain once said, "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and
reflect." This was said in Clemens' Notebook 1904. For generations, many people have lived by this quote. Some whether notorious or any ordinary
people. Being politics in the government, or people using their knowledge for their everyday lives. Everyone must make their own individual
decisions in any situation. The majority cannot be one person, one person has their own ideas and emotions. Agreeing with everyone else without
personal views is basically writing the same thing over and over again. Nothing will be resolved, ever. Our opinions, thoughts, and ideas make us who
we are, and it is who we are that makes people different from their societies.. Its views, everything.

The Current Osha Recordkeeping Regulation 29 Cfr 1904
Under the current OSHA recordkeeping regulation 29 CFR 1904, employers are required to maintain an accurate record of workplace injuries and
illnesses. Information contained in these records is important in helping OSHA identify workplace hazards and implementing protections to reduce
risks within the workplace.1 Recording and reporting a work–related injury "does not mean that the employer or employee was at fault " or that an
OSHA rule has been violated.2 It is simply meant to inform OSHA, employers, and employees of potential hazards. Exceptions to this rule include
employers with fewer than 10 full time employees and some low–risk industries such as retail, finance, insurance or real–estate.1 However, all
employers must report incidents leading to a fatality or the hospitalization of three or more employees.3 A proposed rule amends 29 CFR 1904.41 to
add three new electronic reporting methods. The comment period for this proposed rule expired on October 14, 2014 and is now in the final stages of
the rule–making process. This proposed rule amends 29 CFR 1904 in the following ways: first, employers with over 250 employees in the previous
calendar year will be required to submit electronic records every quarter. Second, employers with over 20 employees in the last calendar year will be
required to electronically submit their reports annually. Lastly, all employers that keep injury and illness records are required to submit these records

Pathways Through Financial Crisis: India

India survived near–crisis situations twice in the 1990s. How did internal and external constraints shape that country's ability to respond to the crises?
This article argues that India's success can be attributed to four sets of decisions taken during the period 1991–1997: devaluation, involvement of the
IMF, partial liberalization of the domestic financial sector, and gradual opening up of the external sector. The article analyzes the options, political
opposition, and eventual outcomes for each set of decisions. India's ownership of its reform program helped set the pace of reform, while close

Petroleum import costs in 1990–1991 increased by half to US$5.7 billion.10 The government had to bear the additional burden of airlifting and
rehabilitating 112,000 Indian workers from the Middle East as remittances from the region declined.11 The second shock was global recession: world
growth had declined from 4.5 percent in 1988 to 2.25 percent in 1991.12 Export growth in the United States–India's largest market–turned negative in
1991. Conditions in the Soviet Union, another major export destination, had also worsened. In 1990–1991 India's exports grew only 4 percent. India
was also suffering from internal political instability. The fragile National Front coalition faced a nationwide crisis in the summer of 1990 over its
affirmative action policies. By autumn, a campaign by the BJP (an upper caste–dominated coalition partner) to build a Hindu temple at the site of a
sixteenth–century mosque in Ayodhya resulted in widespread communal violence. The government collapsed when the BJP pulled out. A new minority

What Is The History Of The Colorado Labour Wars

Colorado labor Wars: The Colorado labor wars were a series of labor strikes in 1903 and 1904 in the US state of Colorado, by gold and silver miners
and mill workers represented by the Western Federation of Miners (WFM). Opposing the WFM were associations of mine owners and businessmen at
each location, supported by the Colorado state government. The strikes were notable and controversial for the accompanying violence, and the
imposition of martial law by the Colorado National Guard in order to put down the strikes. A nearly simultaneous strike in Colorado's northern and

Mentoring Essay
Mentoring Like most institutions in a world of change, the age–old practice of mentoring is being influenced by new forms of work, technology, and
learning. Mentoring is typically defined as a relationship between an experienced and a less experienced person in which the mentor provides
guidance, advice, support, and feedback to the protГ©gГ© (Haney 1997). Mentoring is a way to help new employees learn about organizational culture
(Bierema 1996), to facilitate personal and career growth and development, and to expand opportunities for those traditionally hampered by
organizational barriers, such as women and minorities (Gunn 1995). The benefits of mentoring are not only work related; it can provide individuals
with opportunities to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mentoring Institute (1997) maintains that, in the past, mentoring typically just "happened" as experienced people recognized and developed new
talent or as beginners sought the counsel of knowledgeable elders. Now, the institute describes a "new mentoring paradigm": todays protГ©gГ©s are
better educated but still need a mentors practical know–how and wisdom ("craft knowledge") that can be acquired only experientially. Therefore, many
organizations are instituting formal mentoring programs as a cost–effective way to upgrade skills, enhance recruitment and retention, and increase job
satisfaction (Jossi 1997).
Many mentoring programs have been geared specifically to women and minorities as a way of helping them break into the "Old Boy Network" and
through the "Glass Ceiling." However, the value of opening these opportunities to all is being recognized. Gunn (1995) suggests that a more
democratic approach to mentoring is emerging, open to more employees at more levels. For example, a high–level new employee hired because of
specific expertise may still need the coaching in organizational culture that mentors can provide, a form of partnership that is a "two–way transfer of
skills and experience" (p. 65). This more inclusive mentoring strategy is seen as an alternative to the career ladders and security that organizations are
no longer providing (ibid.). Another democratic approach is a trend toward group mentoring in which the mentor is

Election Of 1904 Dbq Essay
Election of 1904 Theodore Roosevelt was a significant president to the history of the United States. Roosevelt was elected in 1904 with an advantage

Leaving the presidential office in the hands of the Roosevelt administration for the next four years. Roosevelt addressed a couple of important issues

Summary Of Once More To The Lake By E. B White
What does the word time mean? The definition of time is the continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and the future. People
cannot see time but the effects happen to everyone and everything like humans, animals, and nature. In E.B. White's essay "Once More to the
Lake", time has affected his beloved vacation spot from his childhood the lake, roads, and camp grounds have changed since 1904. Therefore, I
disagree with White in "Once More to the Lake" that everything was as it always has been; the author changed, the camp changed, and the people are
clear examples of changes. The first example of change is the author, White is no longer a child in 1904. White is now a father and he bring his son to
the lake to experience the father – son bond that he and his father shared when the two first went to the lake when he was a boy. White also taken his
son to the camp where he would vacation with his father as a boy he now had the believes he has now become his father, saying the "I began to

Bridgeton Industries: Automotive Component & Fabrication Plan
Bridgeton Industries:
Automotive Component & Fabrication Plant
The Automotive Component and Fabrication Plant (ACF) was the original plant site for Bridgeton Industries, a major supplier of components for the
domestic automotive industry. It manufactured fuel tanks, manifolds, doors, muffler/exhausts and oil pans. All its products were sold to Big Three
domestic automobile manufactures. Competition was from local suppliers and other Bridgeton plants. The plant well grew and developed as far as the
market dominated by U.S automobile manufactures. It became less effective when foreign competition and scarce, expensive gasoline caused domestic
loss of market share. Throughout the 1980s, the ACF experienced serious cutbacks due to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When the product of manifold was not dropped, assume that the selling prices, volumes and material costs for the year 1991 model would not change
for fuel tanks and doors. Therefore, the budget year of 1991was the report of 1990 and it was not changed for 1991 (see table 4).
When manifold line was dropped, the situation of 1991 in comparation to 1990 was similar to the situation of 1988 in comparation to 1989.
Assume that the change of the overhead per the change of labor cost of 1988 and 1989 was the situation of 1990 and 1991 and was not changed equal
to 2.7 (see table 5). Assume that the direct labor cost of 1991 for the product dropped manifolds was the direct labor cost of that product in 1990 (see
table 5). The total direct material of 1991 was $33,821 (see table 6), the direct labor was $7,562; the total overhead was $61,741 and the rate of

(Question 6) It is clear that if they drop manifold the overhead per direct labor increases too many to 816% (see table 5) but the most important
thing was that total gross income decrease too many from $63,501 in 1990 to $30,298 in 1991 (see table 6). The recommendation based on the model

How Did Theodore Roosevelt Appeal To Major-Party Candidates?
With the level of scandal and conspiracy surrounding our current presidential election, it may seem difficult to imagine an election where the
candidates were barely divisive, and a photo of a presidential nominee skinny dipping in the Hudson River was not enough to cause scandal, or even
interest in a major–party candidate. However, if we rewind the clock just 112 years to the election of 1904, we find a Cortland County native running as
the Democratic Party candidate that no one could say anything bad about. Unfortunately for him, he was running against the very popular Theodore
Roosevelt.

Skinner ( 1904-1990 )
B.F. Skinner (1904–1990) was an American psychologist who was a leading proponent of behaviorism, which had significant influences on philosophy.
He was an advocate of his own school of thought called radical behaviorism, and conducted experimental analysis of behavior.
In About Behaviorism, B.F. Skinner expands on methodologicalbehaviorism's central tenet and its weaknesses. Skinner illustrated that in
methodological behaviorism, the only admissible and relevant evidence in scientific psychology is behavioral data. To methodological behaviorists,
introspection is not a form of evidence, since it is a private and personal way of knowing. There can be no public agreement on introspection, and thus
it cannot be accepted as a scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first premise of radical behaviorism is that psychology should concern itself with the observable behavior of organism, not the unobservable mental
events. The second premise is that the study of behavior should be a natural science, much like biology, chemistry and physics, relying on hypotheses,
controlled variables and evidence. Thus he concludes that radical behaviorism repairs the damages done by mentalism to scientific psychology
because a scientific psychological theory will consist of laws directly relating controlled stimuli to behaviors. Radical behaviorism does not
acknowledge mental events at all, in which behavior is restricted to an input–output relationship, thus allowing psychology to be a form of evidence
driven science.
Through the framework of radical behaviorism, Skinner discusses perception and imagination, which he calls "seeing in the absence of the thing seen."
Skinner claims that the act of imagining does not constitute a mental event, and thus does not threaten the premise of behaviorism. Skinner insists that
imagery is not a thing, but rather the act of imagining and visualizing is a behavior. And the act of imagining is a response, which may be conditioned
to occur in the absence of its normal stimuli. Though it may seem private, he gives examples of he public aspects of imagining. He gives the example
of leading

The cash budget only includes the cash the company has at the start of the business as well as items that they will be paying for in cash. On the other
hand, a pro forma income statement takes into account projected revenues from sales. Projected sales minus cost of goods sold as well as other
expenses tell the net income. The pro forma income statement, in the end, gives projected profit, whereas the cash budget sheet in the end informs
whether or not the business will be lacking cash to operate. In Hampton Machine Tool, the December ending cash balance is not equal to the projected

Sport supplementation has become a multi–billion dollar industry that has seen its biggest growth in the last five years and shows no signs of slowing

At the beginning of the 20th century a New York editorialist wrote that the 20th century began in the United States with "a sense of euphoria and

enjoyed enormous popularity due to the general happiness of the American people. A thriving industry created many jobs for immigrants and others. A
monumental event took place in 1901 when the New YorkStock Exchange exceeded 2 million shares for the first time ever (World History Timeline

In 1900 there was the Boxer Rebellion in which anti–foreigner Boxers occupied Beijing. International force eventually ended the violent siege
(Historical Daily Almanac "1900"). Another major world event during the decade was the Russo–Japanese War. The two countries battled over the
control of Manchuria and Korea, and the Russians were forced to surrender (Historical Daily Almanac "1905"). Also around the globe, in the field of
psychology, the great Sigmund Freud wrote a book called The Interpretation of Dreams (Magill 14). This book documented Freud's theory that dreams
are meaningful and can be understood. Another great mind of that era was Albert Einstein. He came up with his theory of relativity in 1905(Magill 19).
Great artists of the world were also creating some of their most brilliant work during this decade. Henri Matisse fought to find the artistic freedom he
needed by creating the Fauvist movement in the early 1900's(Pioch 2). Fauvism led to the larger movement called Expressionism, a term used to
describe any art that raises subjective feelings above objective observations (Pioch 4). Georges Rouault was another pioneer of the Expressionist

The Entente Cordiale, Signed 1904
The Entente Cordiale, signed 1904, was a series of agreements that changed Anglo–Franco relations entirely. For one thousand years beforehand, the
English and the French had many disagreements, wars, and conflicts that created a lot of tension between the two nations. But forty years after the
Entente established a friendship between the two countries, England and France fought two major wars as very close allies.
The main reason that the Entente Cordiale was signed in the first place was that England and France were having conflicts over land in Africa. Yet the
agreement was so monumental in nature that it completely changed Anglo–Franco relations for over one hundred years to come. It caused the two
countries that had previously hated each other to fight on the same side of two wars and cheer each other on. It changed public opinion and foreign
policy between the two nations. However, the actual origins as to why the British would engage in negotiations with a country that they've hated for
centuries seem uncertain. Germany is starting to mobilize, is threatening Britain with its rapidly growing and modernizing navy, and is industrializing
at an alarming rate. At the same time, France is becoming more prominent in Africa and the Mediterranean, not to mention a powerful alliance with
Russia in addition. With these facts in mind, what was the strategic upside to England signing the Entente with an old enemy? Was it to defend

The Segregation And Subjugation Of African Americans
Political inequality has been an obstacle that many minority groups have encountered throughout history. The segregation and subjugation of African
Americans in the United States during the 1900s was indifferent. Although innumerable people were opposed to the unfamiliar ideals of
anti–segregation activists, George Edwin Taylor went against the standards of society, and explored new civil morals. Through his endeavors, he was
able to encourage people to divert from their accepted beliefs and helped establish a foundation for the yet–to–come Civil Rights Movement. In the
year 1857, George Edwin Taylor was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to a free black, Amanda Hines, and slave, Bryant Taylor. At the time of his birth,
Arkansas was preparing for the forced removal of approximately 700 free blacks. On February 12, 1859 the Free Negro Expulsion Act was enacted in
the state of Arkansas. All free blacks were ordered to leave the state by January 1, 1860, or they would consequently be sold into slavery. Amanda
Hines fled the state with her child to Alton, Illinois. In 1861 or 1862 Hines died from tuberculosis when George was only four or five years old during
the climax of the Civil War. George later claimed that when he was an orphan whom had lived in dry good boxes in Alton. In 1865 at the age of seven,

Chicago World's Fair History
The World's Fairs have all contributed to this country and the world, but three specific Fairs in Chicago, St. Louis, and New York have greatly
influenced society today. Chicago hosted one of the most popular World's Fairs in 1893, which celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher
Columbus coming to America. People came from all over to enjoy the Fair despite the slight damage the Great Fire caused Chicago. When 1904 rolled

specific plays and musicals came out of this Fair, including the film and musical, Meet Me in St. Louis. In 1964, the World's Fair was held in New

come(www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org). The racism and sexism specifically at the Chicago World's Fair was very significant. There were days
set aside for only white people and far less days for black people; women could not put their exhibits in the same buildings as the men's exhibits.
"Multiple tragedies marked the end of the fair. A smallpox epidemic that originated at the fair in midsummer spread throughout the city by early
autumn. Then, just before the gala closing ceremonies were to be held, Mayor Carter Harrison was assassinated. Finally, shortly after the fair's close, a
fire swept through the fairgrounds, destroying many of the buildings"(www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org). On October 31, 1893, the Chicago

Charlottetown Geography Essay
Climate: Prince Edward Island is located off the coast of the Eastern shore of Canada's mainland. As one of the 4 Atlantic Maritime provinces, PEI, like
all the other provinces located nearby, has a moderated maritime climate that, when combined with the rich agricultural soils of the region, makes it an
ideal location for growing crops and raising livestock. The area's climate characteristics have and continue to play an exceedingly important role in
Charlottetown's success as PEI's capital city. Looking from this climate graph of Charlottetown's 2010 climate, it is most prominent Charlottetown's
climate closely resembles that of a typical maritime The most prominent characteristic that I observed from this climate graph is the drastic temperature
change that occurs throughout the year. From February, the temperature begins to increase, and it continues to do so at a constant, steady rate until it
reaches its peak of 17 to 18В°C somewhere around July and August. From there, a steady pattern of temperature decrease can be observed, until it hits
its lowest point at which the year started from: –8 to –7В°C. The total overall temperature change, looking from these approximations, seems to be
25В°C. The actual temperature range, calculated using the more accurately shown chart... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is found by calculating both the 'winter' months' precipitation and the 'summer' months' precipitation; if the precipitation during the winter months is
greater than the precipitation during the summer months, the climate is maritime. Vice versa would indicate a continental climate. Winter months
are October, November, December, January, February, and March: the total is (112.4 + 115.0 + 116.7 + 97.1 + 82.3 + 83.1) = 606.6 mm. Summer
months are April, May, June, July, August, and September: the total is (88.3 + 94.2 + 87.5 + 78.5 + 90.1 + 91.9) = 530.5 mm. Therefore, for this
category, Charlottetown is classified as

bookstores, and going to gay bars. Dahmer's place of work was Ambrosia Chocolate Factory through work release program. He had developed
friendships in his job, but his co–workers said that he hardly tried to develop any outside relationships with them. During the Dahmer trial, Dahmer
confessed he used two films for inspiration Return of the Jedi and The Exorcist 3. The reason he gave in his confession was "using the films to get
himself in the proper mood to go out and cruise for a victim..." ("Jeffrey Dahmer – Full Trial – Serial Killer"). Dahmer used these films because of the
main villains in each movie. Pazuzu of The Exorcist 3 and The Emperor of Return of the Jedi are both unrelenting forces in their respected movies.

A man who loved the spotlight could also be a murderer on the inside. An example of this kind of man would be Ted Bundy. Ted Bundy was a man
of good looks, charm, smarts, and ambition. He had all he needed to become anything he wanted to be. Bundy chose to use his traits and skills to
murder as many as 40 young women and girls as young as 12 years old during the mid 1970s. Bundy did live a semi–normal childhood when compared
to Dahmer, for he did not have to endure a heavy family dispute and did not develop a drinking problem early in his life. The reason Bundy was
believed to have snapped was "Many of his early victims bore a physical resemblance to Bundy's first girlfriend, who was tall and slender and wore
her long brown hair with a part in the middle" (Lohr). Bundy had a rough split with his first girlfriend one he would always consider his first love.
Ted Bundy was not his original name, according to Lohr, "Bundy was born Theodore Robert Cowell on November 24, 1946, in Burlington,
Vermont" (par. 3). However, Bundy's father wanted nothing to do with him and his mother, so they moved to Philadelphia to live with his mother's
parents. Bundy's grandparents, out of fear that their daughter would be criticized for having a bastard child, raised Bundy as their own. This left him
to believe that his mother was actually his older sister. This could have been one of the factors of converting Bundy into a serial killer. Bundy's
mother eventually moved them to Tacoma, Wash., in 1950. It was there she met and married a military cook by the name of Johnnie Culpepper
Bundy. From that point on Ted Cowell was known as Ted Bundy, a name that became a part of many bone chilling stories. Another factor for Bundy
snapping to a personality to that of a serial killer was his childhood bullies he had to deal with. Bundy was an intelligent man his academic

How Successful Were The Russian Governments In Promoting...

  • 1. But Russia's economy was still not as well–developed as that in western Europe. So a real industrialisation took of in the reign of Alexander III and the help of Nicholas II's finance minsters Ivan Vyshnegradsky and Sergei Witte. The main point of those developments, was imporoving Russia's finances and buliding up the gold reserves. For doing this Vyshnegradsky decided to increase the indirect taxes and mount a drive to swell grain exports.. By... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These investments went into mining, matal trades and mostly in oil industry and banking.Besids Witte brought engeneers and managers from abroad and begun to develop the growth of the railways and the importance of "heavy " industry with them. It was time an industrial revolution in Russia. Russia begun to nationalise the railway companies in the 1880s. By 1905 nearly 66 percen of the whole railway system was state–owned. The most important railway line was the Trans–Siberian (building 1891–1902), which crossed Russia from west (St.Petersburg) to east ( Vladivostock). Those new railway lines linked the major areas of industrial producion and those with markets or ports. So building these railway lines also helped the development of the industries along their length. The development of iron and coal industries in the area of Moskow, St. Petersburg, the Baltic coast and the Ural Mountains to the east was heavily. This industrial growth helped Russia being the fourth largest industrail economy in those times. However there was more trade with grain than with industrial goods. Even though the state budget more than doubled because of Witte's work , the dependece on loans from abroad , which had to be paid back, should not fall in oblivion. Moreover Witte didn't aid the local industries and the agricultural modernasation since he thought the peasant could just be forced into ... • 2. The Thinker By Dantes Inferno One of the most well–known sculptures in the world, A French Sculptor, Auguste –Rene Rodin created The Thinker (Also known as the thinking man) and was first seen completed of the year 1904. In France, the thinker was originally named The Poet, respectively Le PoГЁte in French. Auguste started creating the artwork for a doorway, named "The Gates of Hell". Rodin created the piece based off of "The Inferno", a section of the Divine Comedy. Dante Alighieri wrote his first section of the Epic to describe a soul to the journey onwards to Heaven. It starts with Dante in Hell, as he endures suffering and punishment, while being guided by a poet named Virgil. The Gates of Hell summarize the first third of the Divine Comedy effectively. This doorway includes The Thinker, who seems to be looking down on Hell or Inferno. Many infer what the meaning of the Thinker could be the Actual character Dante in the poem, observing Hell as he does. He also could be portrayed as the Writer looking down at his poem and his scene. Just by observing this you can tell that the pose has consideration, doubt, but overall literally looking down on, avoiding hell, a sign of repentance of sin. This is just the backstory of the figure. In reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The figure shows a naked man sitting down with his fist underneath his chin, with a curious expression, usually sitting on a rock. Just to examine the artwork itself, it is a great expression of philosophy, curiosity, meaning. Many critics say it is one of the most influential sculptures ever made. There are many ways to understanding the meaning of Rodin's masterpiece. It can relate to people that are regretting a action, pursuing an action, looking over on their life, Rodin was able to show various meanings and thoughts in only 1 sculpture. Arguably the most universal sculpture to ever been made. This work also bears a fitting quote, "A picture is worth a thousand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Were The Consequences Of German Imperialism Germans undertook extensive colonialism in south–west Africa, and decided that the land should no longer belong to the native people. 1880, saw the German's in control of a colony with large amounts of natives on the land. At this time there were two major native African ethnic groups present. The Nama or Namaqua, which had a population of around twenty thousand people, and the Herero a group of cattle herders, which contained around seventy five thousand people. German colonial rule was harsh and brutal, any type of resistance was met with brutality and severe consequences. The clash between cultures would lead to a four year war that ended with the systematic murder and extermination of the ethnic groups: Nama, and Herero. The war officially started in January of 1904 when Herero people attacked farms owned by Germans. Around one hundred and thirty people were killed, but women, children and missionaries were left alone. The Germans soon took the upper hand and managed to win the battle, in May of 1904, General Lothar von Trotha became commander, and was in control of the actions taken by the German forces. Mentoring is typically defined as a relationship between an experienced and a less experienced person in which the mentor provides guidance, advice, support, and feedback to the protГ©gГ© (Haney 1997). Mentoring is a way to help new employees learn about organizational culture (Bierema 1996), to facilitate personal and career growth and development, and to expand opportunities for those traditionally hampered by organizational barriers, such as women and minorities (Gunn 1995). The Mentoring Institute (1997) maintains that, in the past, mentoring typically just "happened" as experienced people recognized and developed new talent or as beginners sought the counsel of knowledgeable elders. Now, the institute describes a "new mentoring paradigm": todays protГ©gГ©s are better educated but still need a mentors practical know–how and wisdom ("craft knowledge") that can be acquired only experientially. Therefore, many organizations are instituting formal mentoring programs as a cost–effective way to upgrade skills, enhance recruitment and retention, and increase job satisfaction (Jossi 1997). Many mentoring programs have been geared specifically to women and minorities as a way of helping them break into the "Old Boy Network" and through the "Glass Ceiling." However, the value of opening these opportunities to all is being recognized. Gunn (1995) suggests that a more democratic approach to mentoring is emerging, open to more employees at more levels. For example, a high–level new employee hired because of specific expertise may still need the coaching in organizational culture that mentors can provide, a form of partnership that is a "two–way transfer of skills and experience" (p. 65). This more inclusive mentoring strategy is seen as an alternative to the career ladders and security that organizations are no longer providing (ibid.). Another democratic approach is a trend toward group mentoring in which the mentor is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Summary Of Once More To The Lake By E. B White What does the word time mean? The definition of time is the continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and the future. People cannot see time but the effects happen to everyone and everything like humans, animals, and nature. In E.B. White's essay "Once More to the Lake", time has affected his beloved vacation spot from his childhood the lake, roads, and camp grounds have changed since 1904. Therefore, I disagree with White in "Once More to the Lake" that everything was as it always has been; the author changed, the camp changed, and the people are clear examples of changes. The first example of change is the author, White is no longer a child in 1904. White is now a father and he bring his son to the lake to experience the father – son bond that he and his father shared when the two first went to the lake when he was a boy. With the level of scandal and conspiracy surrounding our current presidential election, it may seem difficult to imagine an election where the candidates were barely divisive, and a photo of a presidential nominee skinny dipping in the Hudson River was not enough to cause scandal, or even interest in a major–party candidate. However, if we rewind the clock just 112 years to the election of 1904, we find a Cortland County native running as the Democratic Party candidate that no one could say anything bad about. Unfortunately for him, he was running against the very popular Theodore Roosevelt. One of Parker's strongest held beliefs was in the gold–standard (value of currency is defined in terms of gold). He was even willing to refuse the nomination if it was not included in the party's platform (see telegram). Prior to the election Parker and Roosevelt had been friends. Parker was dining with Roosevelt in 1900 the evening Roosevelt received the Vice–Presidential nod. Since Parker never became president, we know that his bid was not successful. He was an advocate of his own school of thought called radical behaviorism, and conducted experimental analysis of behavior. In About Behaviorism, B.F. Skinner expands on methodologicalbehaviorism's central tenet and its weaknesses. Skinner illustrated that in methodological behaviorism, the only admissible and relevant evidence in scientific psychology is behavioral data. To methodological behaviorists, introspection is not a form of evidence, since it is a private and personal way of knowing. There can be no public agreement on introspection, and thus it cannot be accepted as a scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first premise of radical behaviorism is that psychology should concern itself with the observable behavior of organism, not the unobservable mental events. The second premise is that the study of behavior should be a natural science, much like biology, chemistry and physics, relying on hypotheses, controlled variables and evidence. Thus he concludes that radical behaviorism repairs the damages done by mentalism to scientific psychology because a scientific psychological theory will consist of laws directly relating controlled stimuli to behaviors. Radical behaviorism does not acknowledge mental events at all, in which behavior is restricted to an input–output relationship, thus allowing psychology to be a form of evidence driven science. Through the framework of radical behaviorism, Skinner discusses perception and imagination, which he calls "seeing in the absence of the thing seen." Skinner claims that the act of imagining does not constitute a mental event, and thus does not threaten the premise of behaviorism. Skinner insists that imagery is not a thing, but rather the act of imagining and visualizing is a behavior. And the act of imagining is a response, which may be conditioned to occur in the absence of its normal stimuli. Though it may seem private, he gives examples of he public aspects of imagining. For one thousand years beforehand, the English and the French had many disagreements, wars, and conflicts that created a lot of tension between the two nations. But forty years after the Entente established a friendship between the two countries, England and France fought two major wars as very close allies. The main reason that the Entente Cordiale was signed in the first place was that England and France were having conflicts over land in Africa. Yet the agreement was so monumental in nature that it completely changed Anglo–Franco relations for over one hundred years to come. It caused the two countries that had previously hated each other to fight on the same side of two wars and cheer each other on. It changed public opinion and foreign policy between the two nations. However, the actual origins as to why the British would engage in negotiations with a country that they've hated for centuries seem uncertain. Germany is starting to mobilize, is threatening Britain with its rapidly growing and modernizing navy, and is industrializing at an alarming rate. At the same time, France is becoming more prominent in Africa and the Mediterranean, not to mention a powerful alliance with Russia in addition.
