1. HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT REPRESENT
PARTICULAR SOCIAL
GROUPS?
2. AGE
The main target audience For our thriller production would be within
the range of the ages 15-26,on the other hand anyone above the
age of 15 can view our film but ideally teenagers would watch it
due to the age of the movie. The opening film is also open to any
gender due to boys watching it as well as girls. The thriller
production is mainly watched by boys however some girls may
still want to watch it as it is interesting whereas boys like it more
due to the blood and death. It is also available to any ethnicity,
race and class. In our thriller production it consisted of a young
female and male, by the use of a young male and female it then
influences more teenagers from similar ages to watch the short
opening sequence of the film. The storyline of our thriller opening
is suitable to the age range due to it not consisting to much
violence due to there not being blood involved but death is
involved and pain is caused during the opening which makes it not
suitable and inappropriate for people aged under 15.
3. Gender
The main Character in the thriller opening
is Rakulan who plays Mario the little boy
who is the victim of a serious crime as he
dies once he opens the jack in the box. This
is not typically what would happen as the
young girl would be the main person who
dies due to them being more vulnerable
and weak so it is easier for the girls to be
the victim, also in many movies especially
thrillers the girls are made victims so that
the men can save them due to the men
being physically stronger.
4. ETHNICITY/RACE
With many thriller films the main character is
usually a white male who is either the protagonist
or the antagonist. In our thriller opening we have
an Asian young male Rakulan who is Mario, Kajal
who is the forensics lady, Simone, and zainab who
is Rosie the young girl who phones the police. This
shows that everyone is of the same race due to us
all being Asians which is not very typical in many
thriller films
5. SOCIAL CLASS
In our thriller production the use of social
class was very minimal and was barley used
in our opening as we did not focus much on
that area but the characters were those of
working class. The things that gave it away
was elements’ of misencsece such as clothing
and the dialogue.
6. OCCUPATION
Occupation: The occupation is another
thing that was not manly used and
wasn’t focused on much but from
looking at the characters and the way
that they are dressed show that they
are young students and may have part
time jobs. You can also tell from there
voice and the way they put themselves
across.
