2. IdeaForTeaser
Genre: Mystery/Thriller
Plot: A girl has been reported missing and presumed dead because her car was found flipped over without her
body inside. A few weeks later her friend see’s her at the train station with a strange man but nobody believes her
and thinks she’s going insane due to distress of losing her friend. The main storyline is about the friend and her
struggles as nobody believes that she has seen her friend, so she ends up feeling lost and on her own. In the end it
turns out that the man she was seen with helped her out of the car accident, however due to having mental issues
he held her hostage until she was able to escape.
3. TargetAudience
Thriller films are aimed at an audience who enjoy mystery with a high level of
anticipation. Their main aim is to create suspense, tension and excitement for the
audience. The genre of thriller and mystery can appeal to both male and female as there
is sense of enigma and mystery for the audience.therefore, this may attract both
genders.
Age range
The age range for thriller and mystery films are usually from 15-40 as this particular
genre may not entice audience above 40 as they may find the plot strange or confusing
due to the sense of enigma. The classification for audience aged 15 and over should not
include imitable behaviour for e.g hanging, suicide and self harming which may be
included in our teaser trailer.
4. Characters
Skylar (Missing/Dead) - This character will be played by Libby Ardley in our group. This
works well because Libby is a 17 year old teenage girl which is the same age as the
character in our teaser trailer is. This character will be dressed as a typical teenage girl,
wearing a basic plain top and jeans. We chose the name Skylar because we wanted to
use the letter S to begin the name as it is a sharp, bitter consonant and the name is quite
an innocent and vulnerable name, which is the type of character we want to create.
Emily (The girl’s friend) - This character will be played by Millie Smith in our group. We
chose Millie to play this part as again, Millie is 17, so she will suit playing this role as this
girl is 17 too, considering her best friend who “commits suicide” also is. The characteristic
of this girl is caring and kind as her role in the film is, continuously searching for her
friend when others have given up.
7. Idea’sForPosterLayout/Magazine
We liked this poster layout with the idea of using photoshop to overlay the two
main characters, the friend being the clearer, original picture and the girl who
has ‘committed suicide’ being faded in the background. We chose her to be
faded as it creates an image of mystery as in the film her character’s
whereabouts is a mystery.
From looking at other film posters, we have noticed that they use dark, eerie
colours to emphasise the thriller genre of the film.
8. IdeaForFilmMagazine
Empire Film Magazine as its suited to our
genre and target audience. We
researched the films which the magazine
have reviewed and these included ‘The
Blair Witch Project’ and ‘Don’t Breathe’.
Both of these films were thrillers and
rated a 15 which matches the genre and
target audience of our film which means
readers of Empire magazine would be
likely to be interested in our film.

10. RealMediaProducts
In the thriller, Rachel (Blunt), who is devastated by her recent divorce, spends her
daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house
that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking
happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.
After watching the teaser trailer for ‘The Girl On The Train’ we were inspired to use a
similar soundtrack, being current music with relatable lyrics to our storyline as it
created an atmosphere when watching.
Our teaser trailer follows a similar storyline to this teaser trailer as we thought that
this teaser trailer caught all of our attention and made us want to go and see it in
cinemas, so decided to follow the conventions of this media products.
