2. Final Film Idea
Our final film idea is a psychological thriller. It will feature a male
teenager who has developed into a psychopath. The film will be
set in an urban area, with some scenes featuring a school. The
main storyline of the film will focus on the psychopathic character
having a troubled life, and very much feeling like an outsider.
While we focus on his character being an observer of people we
will be able to develop the characters personality of being
abnormal. The teenager would begin to do things in the film which
suggest his changing personality and ultimately he will end as a
serial killer and have a obsession with killing victims who treat him
badly in his school.

3. Psychological Thriller
We chose this genre and storyline as all our synopses
were similar and the results of the survey suggested
that we should do a psychological thriller. The sub-
genre of our opening sequence is psychological
thriller. We chose this sub-genre because the majority
of people who took our survey said that they would
prefer this genre. Furthermore, there are lots of ways
that we can make this, due to the broad variety of
options.

4. Conventions
Our opening conventions are going to include a
production logo which promotes institution. We will
also have opening credits stating stating the directors
or actors names. We will mainly focus on developing
an understanding of the character for the audience
rather than the storyline, mainly because the
character is so mysterious and sinister, giving the
audience a more chilling atmosphere form the start.

5. Main Character
The main character (the psychopath) will be the
focus of the introduction because we want to show
the audience his perspective of life and develop a
relationship which will make him seem more unusual
throughout the scene. We will show him in a
dangerous way but not reveal to much of what he
could potentially do in the rest of the film.

6. Other Characters
The victims of the psychopath will only be featured
briefly and they will not give away to much of their
character as that could give away the storyline. The
other characters will only be used to develop the
story for the audience rather than give any detailed
understanding of the character.

7. Visual Style
We will focus on using low key lighting to create a dark
and mysterious atmosphere as well as having a variety of
very fast and slow paced cuts to create a mixed feeling of
tension for the audience. The use of sound in the opening
sequence is essential. We will mainly use intense camera
angles, such as close ups, to build up tension and
enigma. The colours we will use will be mainly reds and
blacks, this is because these colours are usually
associated with this sub-genre and were the most chosen
colours in our survey.

8. Target Audience
We have a target audience of teenagers, with a
certificate of a 12A. From the results of our survey
the majority of our participants were 16 – 18. Making
it a 12A means that we can vary our options and
make it appeal to all ages.

9. Unique Selling Point
The unique selling point of our thriller film is that we
are having the main character as the psychopath and
seeing the film from his point of view. The audience
is going to like this film over other films because this
is a rare feature used in thriller films.
