Question 4 media
1.
2. we aimed to produced a crime fiction movie opening which
would captivate the viewer enough to want to watch
a hole movie on it , to do this we needed to identify
our audience and how to appeal to them. The Crime
Fiction genre usually targets males between the ages
of 18-34.
When we knew this was our audience we did some primary
research into just what type of people we where
looking at from a human aspect (not just
statistically). I found people in my area to talk to
ranging from the upper sixth form to middle age, we
discussed what type of things they looked for in crime
fiction and what drew them into it in the first place.
3. When looking at a age rating we turned to the BBFC
(the British Board of Film Classification). We knew that our audience
was primarily between the ages of 18-35 however this did not go to
say that we would aim to make it so graphic it is rated an 18 as this
excludes audiences ranging just under our target audience and
recues our ability for our film to be watched in large groups if it was
an 18.
Further more to be a 18 would suggest that our film contains :
-illegal drug use, which may cause harm to public health or
morals. This may include portrayals of sexual or
sexualised violence which might, for example, eroticise or
endorse sexual assault
-explicit images of sexual activity which cannot be justified by
context. Such images may be appropriate in ‘R18’ works, and in
‘sex works
when in fact it does not contain these things. Our product is gritty
but not unnecessarily so , everything is done for a reason and there
are no use of drugs that might promote its use but more highlight its
issue .
We decided our video would be certificate 15. This is because it may
feature occasional swearing but not repeated use. It will not include
dangerous behaviour but not to the description the bbfc deeps the
next level (e.g. hanging, suicide and self-harming) and will not
“glamorize” easily accessible weapons. There will be no nudity or
sexual activity. There will be some violence but it will not dwell on
the infliction of pain or injuries. Gory images will not be included in
our film and no reference to sexual violence.

the same means we do with the our audience was to entice their darker themes and making the
rest of our audience with a good inquisitive side that desires involvement rating a 15 thus showing this was not
