San Luis Obispo High School Case Study
This issue is one that San Luis Obispo High School recently faced. San Luis Coastal Unified
School District has two high schools, San Luis Obispo High School (SLOHS), operating under a
traditional trimester schedule, and Morro Bay High School (MBHS), running on a semester long
block schedule. The district claimed that the current schedule at SLOHS was inequitable to all
students within the district, as students at SLOHS are given more opportunities to take a variety of
courses when compared to MBHS students. The district suggested that SLOHS propose an
alternative schedule (not the trimester) or accept the fallback traditional semester schedule for the
next schoolyear.
According to the district superintendent, the inequity was due to the

Adams vs. Jefferson
The Tumultuous Election of 1800
Analytical Book Review
Adams vs Jefferson, The Tumultuous Election of 1800, describes the events of the infamous United
States Presidential Election of 1800, the election that forever changed the landscape of American
politics and reestablished the principles of the American Revolution. The election of 1800 was a
battle of two political powerhouses: John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. They were two of America
s founding fathers who were once great friends, but were thrown against each other as adversaries
with the future of America in their hands.
John Ferling, the author, began by describing the events that occurred just prior to the election, and
painted the picture of John Adams travelling to Washington D.C. from his Massachusetts farm and
Thomas Jefferson from his hilltop lair of Monticello in Virginia symbolizing the differences among
Adam s northeastern simple farming roots and Jefferson s extravagant southern slave owning
background. From the start, the author explains (without tipping his hat to the debacle the system
would cause in the 1800 election) how in the 1796 and 1800 elections, the Constitution required the
practice of each political party nominating two presidential candidates, with the candidates with the
most votes becoming President and the second most becoming Vice President. The Federalists
nominated Adams and Charles Pinckney from South Carolina;

Statement of Purpose Applying for M.S. in Statistics Program Studying at University of
Virginia was my first time living by myself in a foreign country. Turning to math seemed an easy
choice for me because I had been passionate about math since elementary school. I started to
learn Olympic Mathematics in second grade and enjoyed the challenging topics. I was soon able
to learn by myself with the help of training in logical thinking. When I was forced to stay at
home for a whole school year due to a heart problem, I read the textbooks on my own and passed
the final exams so that I could continue with my class the next year. In fifth grade, I was able to
understand abstract concepts such as linear equations and use x and y to represent unknown
variables. Winning numerous Olympic Mathematics competitions awards got me into the best
middle school and high school in Beijing, where I continued to pursue my affection in Olympic

The Four Stoke Farm Bikes
пЃ¶Description of the product: The four stoke farm bikes also known as a quad, quad bike, three
wheeler, or four wheeler, is defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a
vehicle that we can drive on low pressure tires, with a seat that is comfortable and easy to drive
for the driver, along with handlebars for handling control. As the name implies, it is designed to
handle a wider variety of terrain than most other vehicles. Although it is a street legal vehicle in
some countries, it is not street legal within most states and provinces of Australia, the United
States or Canada. Each agriculturist and each homestead bicycle has a particular employment to
accomplish, and specific plot of area to handle. It may be a 2 wheeler ranch bicycle you require,
it may be a 4 wheeler, or it may be both. You might use your farm bike for herding or for tack on
towing. For riding to the once more of the station or for swinging around the way of life piece. It
may need to handle the slopes or just take after the level. A mission through the mud or a trek on

How Did The Capture Of Nazi Germany s Recovery During The...
When the Great Depression began, the British Empire suffered for high unemployment and
poverty. The empire was still recovering from the Great War and the Depression surprised many
government officials. Soon enough, the government took emergency measures to balance the
budget and restore confidence in the pound by issuing an emergency budget, which immediately
instituted a round of cuts in public spending and wages. Public sector wages and unemployment
pay were cut by 10%, and income tax was raised from 4s 6d to 5s in the pound. However, these
measures were unsuccessful as unemployment rose and the gold standard dropped. After years of
measures to combat against the depression, a slow recovery begun in 1934 because of the
withdrawal from the gold standard and the devaluation of the pound. As a result, British exports
became more competitive on world markets. During that period of recovery, Nazi Germany was
born as Hitler took complete control of the country. Then, an revolt against Hitler began and the
country fell into chaos. The British were watching from the sidelines as the Royal Freikorps rose to

To his followers Abd al Wahhab was a great man, an outstanding reformer and a zealous preacher ,
proclaiming a message of al da wa ila l tawhid, (a belief in the unity of God alone), something
which, according to him, Muslims had neglected to their detriment. Like a troubling desert storm he
appeared in the Najd region of Arabia in the eighteenth century fulminating against the idolatrous
practices and customs of the contemporary Bedouin. The sheikh started preaching the revival of
Islam, states one writer, and ripped away the heresies and abuses which had grown up around
Islam and . . . preached the faith in its original simplicity . A small number of tribesmen accepted
him as Sheikh ul Islam and mujaddid, leader of Islam and renewer of the faith, and began a
movement which quickly spread across Arabia. Presenting Abd al Wahhab as the preacher of
reform , and referring to his great work , his powers of persuasion, personal magnetism and the
compelling rightness of his cause , his supporters declare with alacrity how he hurl[ed] his
doctrines into the teeth of the evildoers . As such Saudis today credit Abd al Wahhab as the one
who uprooted polytheistic views [and] eradicate[d] the heresies and accretions affecting Islam,
thereby pulling the Islamic faith out of the darkness of polytheism and error . Although no statues
or monuments are erected in his honour, for such would be shirk, or idolatry, some Saudis name

Copping Research Paper
Coping is the active effort to master, reduce or tolerate the demands which are created by stress.
When a person is going through a stressful event, the adrenal glands release catecholamines into
the bloodstream. This mobilizes the body for action. Along with this, the hypothalamus sends
signals to the pituitary gland which secretes the hormone (ACTH) which, in turn, stimulates a
release of hormones called corticosteroids. These stimulate the release of chemicals that increase
a person s energy and inhibits inflammation of tissues if a person gets injured. All of this is going
on in the body when a person is under stress. If a person does not find a way to cope with stress,
all this action in the body can lead to the suppression of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Why would this matter? Research shows the vitamin D boost might elevate serotonin. If that isn

to help ease stress. Finding a way to carve out 15 20 minutes every day for a walk rather than
waiting till the weekend is healthier and more beneficial. Sometimes talking it out with others can
really help to ease a person s load. Seeking out friends, relatives, a teacher, counselor, member of

The father unsuccessfully tries to do away with the infant hero. The child is raised by surrogate
parents, but upon maturing, he returns to the land of his father. The hero battles his father and is
victorious. (Indick, Williams) In the opening scene of the movie, you can see Paikea s mother

Yes, she is not trained to be a chief. Yes, her gender comes into play when it comes to becoming
a chief. She had one thing that none of the other boys had, heart. She wanted to learn to be a

trying to get a look into the classes. When she got caught so many times, she went to uncle to
continue to learn. The other boys took the training for granted while she didn t. She worked
hard to strive for greatness. All you hear about super hero s is bout there powers. That s not what
a hero really is. It doesn t matter if you have superpowers or not. She had heart, that s what a real

and the community. This was the first ever female chief. Also it was the youngest chief. It
shows how you don t have to be a certain sex or a certain age to be in a position of power. With
her being a chief it changes to male dominated role. Being a chief wasn t a male role anymore,

Psychoactive Drugs Through Human History
Psychoactive Drug Through History Reaction As I listened to the podcast Psychoactive Drugs

said I was hearing for the first time. Usually when you hear about drugs in school or from people
all you hear are drugs are bad, they are addicting and can kill you, you never hear about the
details or that some drugs are good. So as Doctor Weil explains the many different drugs and the
Cultures that use them, I was surprised at most of what he said. The most surprising was that there
is no good or bad drug, any drug can be used either intelligently or stupidly, I have never heard it
said that way. Another thing that surprised me would be that many plants have

Merlin, the wizard with a giant pointy hat on his head, doing magical acts to please the crowd.
That is what Merlin has become today, a shadow of his meaning in the Arthurian legends. Another
misconception of the stories are the stories of Taliesin and Merlin. Most confuse either or some
mix both and make them into one. The beginnings or Merlin are confusing and muddled within
the stories. While Taliesin has a set story similar to that of Moses in the Bible. Merlin appears in
history under many hats, none of which include the giant blue pointy hat with stars that we all

Merlin prophesies Arthur s life before he even is born and even contributes to the birth of
Arthur. Merlin s main role in the story is to guide Arthur into being king of Camelot. At this
point, many say that Arthur does not have a life of his own since everything has been set for
him and is being manipulated by Merlin. Though Merlin meddles with Arthur a lot, it is never
known to Arthur that he is meant to be a king until he decides for himself and pulls Excalibur
from the stone. Merlin directly led to the birth of Arthur by disguising his father, Uther, as
Gorlois the husband of Igraine and allowed Uther to inseminate Igraine and have Arthur. Some
stories even say he was Arthur s tutor and that he started the legend that whoever pulls the
Excalibur from the stone will be the right and truthful heir to the throne. At the same time, he
also persuaded the Lady of the Lake to present Excalibur, the real one, to Arthur. Although some
stories say that Merlin died before Arthur s birth, most of the main legends show that Merlin was
trapped by dark magic. Some legends say that Merlin fell in love with the Lady of the Lake and
taught her everything and after she supposedly grew stronger than Merlin, she trapped him in a
tower and that explains some of his disappearances in stories. Other accounts say that he also
guided Perceval, foretold the greatness of Lancelot and Tristan, but failed to guide Sir Balin in his

Speed Control Of Se.d. C Motor Using Imc
Speed Control of SE.D.C Motor using IMC (Simulation done on LabVIEW) Salim
salimnitk@gmail.com Abstract: SEDC motors are used extensively in industrial variable speed
applications because of most demanding speed torque characteristics and are simple in
controlling aspects. This paper presents an implementation of internal model control (IMC) for
speed control of separately excited SEDC motor based on LabVIEW. A mathematical model of
the process has been developed using real plant data and then conventional controller has been
designed. A comparative analysis of performance evaluation of controller has been done. Key
Words: SEDC Motor, IMC, LabVIEW. 1Introduction DC motors are widely used in industrial
applications, robot manipulators and home appliances, because of their high reliability,
flexibility and low cost, where speed and position control of motor are required. This paper deals
with the performance evaluation of internal model control method with a clear objective to
control the speed of separately excited DC motor. In this paper, Speed of a SEDC motor is
controlled using IMC. Separately excited DC motors are highly versatile and flexible in aspects
of speed control. The basic property of separately excited DC motor is that speed of separately
excited DC motor can be adjusted by varying its terminal voltage. Therefore, the separately excited
DC motor control is better than other kinds of motors. SEDC motor is a highly controllable

Loyalists Vs Patriots
Both Loyalists and Patriots faced several tribulations in events leading up to the American
Revolution as the feelings of rebellion slowly progressed and created a great sense of tension. The
Loyalists that inhabited the colonies, however, endured severe harassment in the times leading up
to the war. They suffered through actions of disrespect and humiliation. They were, in other words,
tortured for their position on the side of the English Law. This treatment forced many Loyalists to
flee and return to England or to spread out and live elsewhere. Personal attacks and the stealing and
destruction of their property were common nuisances that the Loyalists endured in times of trouble.

INTRODUCTION:
The cell is the basic unit of living things, and is made up of multiple organelles. Organelles are
membrane bound subdivisions, each specialised for a specific function. This experiment looks at
the Plasma Membrane, which is a semipermeable layer surrounding the cell. It s primary job is to
control what goes in and out of the cell. Molecules can move across this membrane in either an
active movement or a passive movement. Active being that which requires energy and only occurs

The solutions of 2% and 10% both reached dynamic equilibrium as neither had lost nor gained
water during the experiment, This indicates that the results may have been inconclusive because
two, widely various solutions could not have both reached dynamic equilibrium with the potato
cell. This leads to the idea that there were a few errors made while performing this experiment,
which most likely had an effect on the results, causing them to be non reliable. Firstly, the test
tubes had not been properly cleaned before the experiment took place. This caused a strange
smell and a colouration of the potato tuber, it may also have increased or decreased the osmotic
potential, though this cannot be known as it is not known what chemical residue may have been
left in the test tubes. Secondly, the potato cells had been left in for three days instead of the
recommended 24hrs. This mistake may have caused the soft, sogginess of the potato which
rendered it difficult to pat dry and handle. During this part of the experiment, pieces of the cells
were broken and lost down drains or stuck to the paper towel, as well as many still containing much
excess water. Because of this, the weights measured could be inaccurate and therefor unreliable.

Should Computers Be Allowed in the Classroom
Introduction
Today, professors at colleges all around the country are asking the same question. They are
wondering whether laptops in the college classroom actually facilitates a student s ability to learn
or rather it distracts them from the lesson being taught. Laptops were originally considered to be a
small niche market and were thought suitable mostly for specialized field applications such as the
military, the Internal Revenue Service, accountants and sales representatives. But today, there are
already more laptops than desktops in businesses, and laptops are becoming obligatory for student
use and more popular for general use.
The conflict lies in that a majority of college professors believe that allowing students to use laptop

* Ease of Access Most laptops have doors on the underside that allow the user to access the
memory, hard drive and other components, by simply flipping the laptop to access the doors.
This makes laptop repair and troubleshooting far easier, and less expensive than most would
think. * Low Power Consumption A typical laptop uses 20 90 W, compared to 100 800 W for
desktops. This could be particularly beneficial for colleges which run hundreds of personal
computers, multiplying the potential savings. * Quiet Laptops are often very quiet because they
produce less heat and therefore require fewer and slower cooling fans making them less of a
distraction in the classroom environment. * Battery a charged laptop can run several hours in case
of a power outage and is not affected by short power interruptions and brownouts. * All in One
designed to be portable, laptops have everything integrated in to the chassis.
Disadvantages:
* Cost Even though laptops provide less performance than desktop computers, they tend to be far
more expensive due to its more compact and complex design. * Performance Laptops are not only
significantly more expensive than desktop computers, but they do so at a lower performance level.
Laptops as a result are disadvantaged when dealing with database, math, engineering, and financial
software. * Upgradeability Laptops have very few upgradeable components and are typically

Kate Chopin Feminism And Feminism
American Author, Kate Chopin came from the Victorian Era where women were oppressed and
restricted from the freedoms most women enjoy today. Her contributions to American Literature
through her numerous short stories and novels are often described as the beginning of modern
feminism. There are claims that the feminist movement was born through her stories and books,
Chopin is often described as a feminist writer of her time, although she did not see herself in that
way. Many of her short stories and books focus on the struggles and oppression of women, but this
was not the only theme she wrote about, some of her other themes in her books describe the women

Kate Chopin was born Catherine O Flaherty in St. Louis on the 8th of February 1850. Her
mother, Eliza Faris, came from a French family and her father Thomas, was a successful Irish
born businessman, and died when Kate was five years old. Chopin was raised in a home
primarily led by women, her mother, her grandmother, and the female slaves her mother owned,
who took care of the children. She spoke French and played the piano. During her younger years
she read books authored by Charles Dickens, Jane Austin and the BrontГ« s. Chopin s writing
career began after the death of her husband, Oscar Chopin. Soon after her husband s death, her
mother past away, leaving her in a state of depression because of the loss of both her husband
and mother. Her obstetrician, and family friend, Dr. Frederick Kolbenheyer encouraged her to
begin writing as a way for her to fight her depression and to possibly begin a healing process. This
turned out to be a new way for her to generate some income she needed.
By the early 1890s, Chopin was writing short stories, and articles that appeared in periodicals and
literary magazines. Chopin s writing style was influenced by her family roots of French and Irish
ancestry. She often placed her story settings in Louisiana. Her writing

The Initiation Of 3 D Printing
Initiation of 3 D printing took place in end 1980s. Fundamentals of 3 D printing were laid by
Japanese Professor. Although he was not able to contribute 100% with his idea, but later on, Mr.
Charles Huck carried on with this idea and finally came up with a machine that can create
prototypes. Later he also co founded a 3 D manufacturing company that is right now one of the
largest 3 D company in the world and contributes a lot to modern era problems. After this initiative,
progress on additive manufacturingprocess or 3 D printing got started, and since then, it became one
of the most important sector of science, specifically engineering, as it have produced a lot of useful
results and have also simplified some lengthy tasks, transforming them into efficient, accurate and
cost effective activity.
As discussed in introduction about types of 3 D printers and variety of industries where they can
be used, explanations regarding these aspects are as follows:
i.STEREO LITHOGRAPHY (SLA) ii. FUSED DEPOSITION MODELLING iii. SELECTIVE
LASER SINTERING (SLS) iv. MULTI JET MODELLING (MJM)
v.VFLASH PRINTER vi. FUSED FILAMENT FABRICATION (FFF) OR FUSED DEPOSTION
MODELLING (FDM)
Fundamentals of all types of printers stated above are same. As prototypes are printed layer by
layer, so certain dimensions are required by printers to print that part. As all designing activities are

Dylan Thomas To An Athlete Dying Young
How do most people, in general, feel about death? Are they calm, scared, indifferent? In Dylan
Thomas poem, Do not go gentle into that good night and A.E Housman s poem, To An Athlete
Dying Young the poets use literary devices to portray their different perspectives on death. In
Thomas poem, he creates a sense of injustice and anger towards the perceived deathof his father.
Housman, on the other hand, has a more serene outlook on the event even though it still depicts
sadness.
The metaphors used in Thomas poem show his resistance and rage on accepting his father s death.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas l.3). is an example of just how much he needs his
father to fight, if not for himself then for Thomas. When he says,

Different Performance Championship Titles Your Dog Can Earn
For dogs to have a championship or Ch designation that is added as a prefix to their name, they
must qualify for a championship. In the past, title are earned from conformation shows, where

Editing critique of Tery Zwigoff s Ghostworld Essay
Editing Critique of Terry Zwigoff s Ghost World nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; In order for a film to be
successful many different elements must be taken into consideration even before beginning to
shoot. The tone of the piece, what sort of lighting will be used, the location of the shots, and a
palette for the film, are all elements that need to be considered before the actual filmmaking begins.
However, even with rigorous planning, questions will still arise during shooting, questions that
might not even be apparent or answered until the footage reaches the editing room. However, many
shortcomings in shooting can be solved through editing. In fact, with good editing pretty much any
type of footage can be made into a working piece of art. But good... Show more content on

The camera cuts away in the middle of this action, leaving the bag theoretically floating
somewhere in mid space. The next scene, however, begins with Enid grabbing the bag off of a
table where she sitting with her best friend Rebecca. The result is the feeling one single motion:
the bag leaving Seymour s hands and entering Enid s. This idea of continuous motion reoccurs
several times during the film helping the viewer connect scenes as well as ideas. Across screen
movement is another technique used to smooth edit points in the film. Often a person or group
of people walking across the screen will act as a wipe, pushing the last scene off while
introducing the next. Most of the time the wipe is an insignificant character such as a jogger or a
car driving by. Human wipes are also used within scenes to lead camera movement. A great
example of this is Enid s art opening scene. In this scene the camera uses one continuous shot to
move from the outside of the gallery to the room where Enid s piece is hanging. However this
movement is not done in a single motion. Through out this movement the camera pauses three
times, each time motivated to move again by a group of people walking in front of the camera in
the same direction. This makes the movement of the camera surprisingly subtle. nbsp; Ghost World
also uses editing as a means of establishing time and building relationships between characters.

Poe use all four ways to describe this quotation that he kills the old man: The special words;such as
quicker ,and louder . The exclamation marks show his nervous, afraid moods, he hears the heart
beat again, and the sound becomes louder and louder, quicker and quicker. In fact, the heart beat
only heard by himself. This environment stimulated his moods and he has the thought that kills the
old man immediately, and he would kill the old man. His actions are proving he is insane and

all I dismembered the corpse. I cut off the head and the arms and the legs. (Poe 3). He always

he kills the old man, his emotion calm down, and dismembered in good order, that is why he is

The Sun Also Rises Modernism Analysis
During the early twentieth century, the philosophical and artistic movement of Modernism
permeated the world of literature. Thusly, Modernism, as a philosophy, is defined through the loss
of traditional values and meaning in life; men, women and all people are isolated and alone, unable
to fully communicate through language. Modernist writers portray the world as a harsh and unjust
place in which their characters struggle alone with unrealistic and futile dreams. With this in mind,

The Nature Of Modern Corporations
In 1868, the 14th amendment to the constitution officially declared those born on U.S soil citizens
of the state, and forbade the states to deny any person the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness (Berger). This amendment, originally created for newly freed African American slaves
as a means to declare them as equal individuals under the law, has somehow been manipulated as a
tool for large corporations (The Corporation). The Corporation, a 2003 documentary written by
law professor Joel Bakan, examines the pathological character of modern corporations. The
documentary analyzes the behaviors and economic influence of many common North American
corporations such as Nike Inc., Coca Cola Co. and Sears Co and the increasing awareness of the
harm many of these corporations are causing both locally and nationally. The Corporation pleads it
s viewers to recognize lack of social responsibility, and hold modern corporation s accountable for
their actions (Bansal).
Noam Chomsky describes the corporation as designed by law to be only concerned for their
stock holder as opposed to the community it serves (The Corporation). As corporations are legally
considered individuals , it raises the question; What kind of person are they? The Corporation
suggests that corporations can be analyzed as individuals similarly to how a psychiatrist would

Introduction Of An Internet Of Things
Abstract 6LowPAN was introduced by the IETF as a standard protocol to interconnect tiny and
constrained devices across IPv6 clouds. 6LowPAN supports a QoS feature based on two priority
bits. So far, little interest has been granted and this QoS feature and there are no
implementations of such feature in real networks. In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of
these priority bits in various scenarios. We show that under very heavy or very low network load,
these bits have a limited effect on the delay. We will also study the effect of using of 802.15.4
frame in different cases on QoS, Keys words: Internet of Things, Sensor Networks, Flow Label,
Traffic Class, 6LowPAN, CSMA/CA, GTS. 1.Introduction An Internet of Things (IoT) system
connects the physical world into Internet via radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, sensors,
and mobile devices. IoT is an intelligent collaboration of tiny sensors and devices giving new
challenges to the end to end communication of things. 6lowpan (IPv6 over Low Power Wireless
Personal Area Networks) is a promising IoT IETF standard for connecting sensors across IPv6
clouds. Some sensing applications are time sensitive and may require bounded delay in sending the
sensed data. In particular, military, mission critical and safety domains generally require rapid and
/or real time data transfer. Therefore, some QoS feature would be required to give sensor network
administrators the ability to control the overall network performance.

How Water Is An Important For Our Lives
Thousands have lived without love, not one without water, W.H. Auden says. It is true that water
plays an important in our lives; nobody can survive without water. Importantly, water is a scarce
resource which means that society has insufficient productive resources to meet all citizens
needs. Once the scarce resource becomes more and more terrified, people will turn to limit the
usage. Since California has been dried for four years continuously and reached near crisis
proportion, on April 1, 2015, Governor Jerry Brown signed an executive order that will restrict
urban water usage by 25 percent to deal with the drought (Nagourney). The bill seems to make

in Johnson). Technically, farmers use 80 percent of water while cities use 20 percent (Johnson).
However, as Governor Jerry Brown claimed California to reduce water using by 25 percent, he did
not indicate agriculture (Johnson). Yet, Robert Glennon stated that For California to solve its water
crisis must also come from farmers. Definitely, with a huge water consuming, restricting agriculture
will conserve water more significant water than households water saving. Glennon points out that
By my calculations, even a four percent reduction in water consumption could increase by 50
percent the water available for municipal and industrial uses. Thus, to solve drought, California
should not restrict personal water use, but regulate agriculture instead.
Secondly, wisely using appropriate management, water in agriculture is one of the best ways to
control water instead of restricting personal water use. Agriculture consumes about 80 percent of all
water usages in California, and the primary water consuming in agriculture is irrigation. This
irrigation system helps lands that don t annually receive enough rainfall to be utilized for growing
plants. According to University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Communication

both plays the protagonist is trying to achieve the American dream, but it is near impossible
when neither of them has the respect of their superiors or the people around them. It is amazing
that two different plays can so closely parallel each other when they have a time gap of over 10

We would have been able to understand her thoughts about Philip, her odd distaste for him, how
she genuinely felt about the German man she left Philip for. We may view Philip in a different
light, as a weak, easily manipulated man, or as a man who didn t care, didn t understand her
situation. While we would still, most likely, see the faults in Mildred, the way we did with
Philip, we would probably think of them in a kinder way. After all, we all disliked Mildred when
she left Philip, who clearly loved her, to be with the German man. Yet, is that not what Philip
did do Nora, who really did love him? The two characters have many similarities, yet we view
one as good, and one as bad. Both raised by people other than their parents, both concerned with
money, both easily distracted, both in love just, not necessarily with each other. They both
turned to others for money when they were struggling; Philip wishing his uncle would die,
Mildred begging Philip for help. Neither of these characters are exactly good people, but they are
seen as opposing forces of good versus evil. It is in this way that, through perspective, we choose
who are the good people, and who are the bad. If Of Human Bondage had been written from a

Fantasy And Fantasy In Mulholland Drive
As we contrast the first part of the film with the second, it becomes evident that the first appears to
be all the more genuine, more in keeping with our expectations concerning reality. But this feeling
of reality results from the film s fantastic dimension rather than its realism. Where we usually
contrast fantasy with reality, Mulholland Drive underlines the connection between the two,
portraying fantasy s role in giving reality with the structure that it has. The filmsupports Lacan s
claim that everything we are allowed to approach by way of reality remains rooted in fantasy
(Stavrakakis 62). Hence fantasy should not be seen as opposed to reality because it is fantasy that
sustains what we experience as reality. This idea that fantasy supports our sense of reality is
evident in Lost Highwayand earlier Lynch films, and he uses fantasy as a major category or theme
in almost all of his films.
The movie creates a sense of mystery and a sense of basic uncertainty that we normally connect
with the element of desire. It uses darkness, threatening characters, ominous music and unusual
editing sequences, all of which represents desire in a manner very typical of Hollywood narrative
style. Desire is always associated with not knowing, posing questions that do not have answers,
lack of narrative elements and confusing irrational series of random events. As Lacan speaks
about desire in Seminar X, as long as I desire, I know nothing of what I desire (98). To depict this

The End Of The Civil War Essay

Fords Theatre The end of the civil war was drawing near, and Abraham Lincoln, President of the
United States of America was looking forward to the reconstruction of his country. He went out for
a play at Fords Theatre. While enjoying the play he was shot in the back by an assassin . This
assination changed the future of America, and affects us today.
At the end of the Civil War there were very different plans for reconstructing the nation were
offered. Had Lincoln lived history would have different. The assassination of Lincoln, however, left
Andrew Johnson, a Southerner and former slave owner with no college education.
After the Civil War congress was controlled by a group called the Radical Republicans. Lincoln was
able to control them and had proposed a plan for reconstruction that looked to treating the South
more like a lost brother returning home. Lincoln looked to reconstruction as a time of healing. The
Radical Republicans, however, looked at reconstruction as an opportunity to teach the South a

Whether it is an experience in which they face that day, or it is something that they hear, it will
always stay with them as the greatest moment in their life. In Looking for Alaska the characters
talk about their best and worst days in a drinking game made up by Alaska. To these characters,
their best days are with them all and each one has a special meaning to them. For Miles, he takes
a brief moment to think about it, then starts saying how his best day was the same day they
played the game. He described how everything that he did that day involved being with his new
friends from Culver Creek. To Miles, this is clearly his best day because he came to realize that
he finally has friends he can rely on and that he is not invisible to classmates, like he felt in
Florida. For these characters, the best days have helped them live their lives better and pickup
them up when they are down. With every best day in someone s life comes with a worst day.
Worst days will make you sad for a length of time and you will feel hopeless during these
stretches of time. People will come to see that worst days will involve the death of a loved one
in a family. There were two instances of this for characters in Looking for Alaska. Alaska had a
terrible loss of someone very close to her. After her and her mother went to the zoo, Alaska went
upstairs to do homework so she could watch TV later at night. She heard her mother scream then
fall down on the floor, where she held her head and started jerking around. Alaska freaked out
and thought that she should have called 911 but she laid there crying and figured her mother
had fallen asleep and waited for her father to come home. Her father came home and started yelling
at her and asked why she did not call 911 and tried to give her CPR, but it was too late. This event
in Alaska s life plays major roles in why she does things that she does. Worst days in people s lives

Social Construction Essay
The social construction theory describes race as an aspect of life constructed by humans, which
affects our lives as social beings. How people are viewed in life, whether it is judged upon their
gender, race, or even the style of clothing they wear, has an affect on various aspects of their life.
Their education, career, salary, where they live, and their friends are all dictated by at least one
aspect of social construction. Racehas one of the strongest impacts in life, since there is an
overbearing subconscious racial lens in the minds of most people. As social beings, these racial
ideologies are embedded into our brains. Some people choose to ignore them, some act on them
negatively against others, and some decide to challenge them head... Show more content on

Yang falls in love with a successful African American surgeon, Preston Burke. Asian African
American interracial couples are not commonly depicted on television shows. The style of
writing in the show hones the viewer s attention on the passion and love between the two
characters, rather than on their differences. Their racial differentiation is not a topic of
conversation and does not have an affect on their relationship. Another interracial relationship
depicted on the show is between Dr. Webber, an African American, and Meredith Grey s mother,
who is white. Their relationship was a long love affair and even resulted in the birth of baby girl,
Maggie Pierce. Maggie was given up for adoption as a baby and never met her birth parents. We
meet Maggie when she moves to Seattle to find information about her real family. This character
relates to many viewers because it represents families who are not the stereotypical cookie cutter
family. This story line represents people who have siblings from parents that are not the same
race, it represents the parents who have children from different partners, and finally, it represents a
successful black woman who went through the adoption process. On television, children who have
been adopted tend to have issues socializing or behavioral problems. This misrepresents the many
people who have successful lives despite the fact they have adoptive parents. When Meredith found
out about her sister years later, she did not deny or question that they were related because she was
black, instead she accepted

How Does Self Awareness Affects And Impedes The Process Of...
As a future counselor, it is important that we realize how much self awareness plays apart in
counselor competence. Although the focus of the course is multicultural counseling, the lack of
overall counselor awareness affects and impedes the process of providing appropriate
therapeutic care. It is vital that you become aware of the assumptions, stereotypes, and biases
you may have about clients who are different from yourself on all the dimensions included in this
framework (D Andrea, 2001).When I speak of awareness, it s not just about bias, stereotypes, and
difference in worldview, but in order to increase personal and professional development as a
counselor, you must be aware of resources and agencies at your disposal that you can use to
properly serve clients from all cultures.
When I look at when I started the course I was pretty sure that I was abreast and aware of what
culture is, and what it consists of, and honestly I was wrong. At this point, I have come to the
realization that culture is more than where you come from and a language, but it encompasses way
more than that, from your look, attitude, beliefs, values, and even how others view you. Personally,
after taking the multicultural assessment, I was disappointed because throughout the assessment I
was sure that my score was going to be on the higher end. After receiving my score, I questioned
how much I invest and immerse myself in other cultures besides my own. I also became aware of
the fact that

The Pros And Cons Of Nazi Medical Experiments
During Hitler s mass killing of about six million, Nazis imprisoned many Jews and other races they
thought inferior to them in concentration camps. Within the walls of these camps, the Nazi doctors
had many opportunities to experiment on the prisoners at the camp in various ways. During the
Holocaust, the Nazis performed many different medical experiments on the prisoners at the
concentration camps which proved to lacerate and scar the victims of the medical experiment.
One type of experiment that the Nazis performed on the prisoners of the concentration camps could
fall into the classification of twin experiments. These experiments dealt with twins going through
examination and observation. Taken for examination, the twins entered the concentration camps for
three days of what must have been psychological examination and three days of laboratory
experiments ( The Holocaust: Nazi Medical Experiments , 1998). During these three days when the
experiments took place, the doctors photographed the twins to compare features between the twins.
After the twins went through examination and the process of photographing, Mengele and his
collaborators dispatched them with a single injection of chloroform to the heart, (Tyson, 2000).
Mengele conducted most of the twin experiments at the Auschwitz camp because he found twins
very intriguing, so he dedicated his time to their experiments. During and after the injection, care
was taken to ensure the twins died at the same time. The

Distinguishing Generation Gaps
Distinguishing generation gaps
There are several ways to make distinctions between generations. For example, names are given to
major groups and each generation sets its own trends and has its own cultural impact.
Language Use
Generations can be distinguished by the differences in their language use. The generation gap has
created a parallel gap in language that can be difficult to communicate across. This issue is one
visible throughout society, creating complications within day to day communication at home, in the
work place, and within schools. As new generations seek to define themselves as something apart
from the old, they adopt new lingo and slang, allowing a generation to create a sense of division
from the previous one. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s a pity that we don t have enough communication now. But I think the most terrible thing is not
this but our ignorance of communicating. And I can take our daily life for instance. On the one
hand, many parents try to provide good living environment for their children. But they only want
their children to study well and seldom want to know what they re thinking about. On the other
hand, the children are always complaining about their parents but neither do they want to
understand their parents.
Do you think communicating between generations is difficult? I don t think so. Remember how
you made your first friend? Open your mouth the strangers will become friends. Use your tongue
we ll know each other better. And in this way the generation gap can be bridged, I am sure. Just
like it was sung in an old song: Open your heartland the key is in your hand.
Understanding Generation Gap
Generation gap is nothing but certain psychological and emotional gap between parents or elder
people and the younger ones. Bulging generation gap creates misunderstanding and lack of
attachment between the parents and children. The success of parenting lies in how effectively they
avoid the generation gap or ignore the differences with kids.
Generation gap is the result of the fast paced development of the society. In earlier times two or
three generations live in the same lifestyle and environments as the development was so

The Chaos and Division of Asia s History Essay
The assigned readings about Asian history lead a unified conclusion that the past (history) of Asia
was characterized with chaos and internal divisions. China, once again entered an era of
divisiveness and chaos. Competing warlords dominated China for the next 350 years (The Golden
Age of China: 79). Chinais a perfect symbol of Asia s history because if studied from the past, the
history of China demonstrates how divisions took place in the country s political and economic
spheres. China s history reveals how the religion led to emergence of chaos in the country. This
shows that religion, in the history of Asia, was more divisive than uniting when individual countries
considered their religions as different. Religious harmonization of... Show more content on

Initially, Chinese had coexisted well under one rule. However, three powerful dynasties emerged
after the Han dynasty, forming three kingdoms of Wei, Shu, and Wu. An element of democracy
started getting into China s politics, though at the time of the three dynasties, the kings had
amassed power through their naval strength. The fact that power was divided from one kingdom to
three, however, shows decentralization of influence, which is an element of democracy. The
formation of the three dynasties in China did not offer any practical solution to the chaotic situation
in the country. This disapproves the imagination that democracy was growing in the country. If it
was indeed democracy, then its growth had not ended. This is because after the formation of the
three dynasties, political division in China widened even further. No powerful dynasty in the
continent s history appeared to be answering the question of China s unity. It appeared like political
plurality had entered in China to stay. For example, the failure of the Jin Dynasty to solve the
puzzle of China s political unity shows how divisive China was becoming. Polarization of
leadership was more serious in Northern China. This judgment arises from the fact that the Jin
dynasty did not solve the puzzle of multiple kingdoms in the north of China. Sixteen kingdoms
emerged in the north as the Jin dynasty attempted to unite China.

A life without spiritual wellness is like traveling without a destination; because there are no
expectations or a sense of guidance. Spiritual wellness is one of the three strongest dimensions
of wellness in my life. Spiritual wellness is primarily one of my strongest because its one that
influences my purpose of life and plays a very intricate part in my daily routines. For example, I
m a very religious person who practices Christianity which helps me boost my spiritual wellness.
Christianity allows me to build my faith in God and to follow his beliefs and principles. As a
result of reading my bible and learning religious principles overtime my morals will reflect this
for the good of others. For example, just as good Samaritans in the bible gave to those in need, I
have learned to give back to my community through participating in the AmeriCorps Vista
program which is a volunteer program whereby people can do community service. The
opportunity of providing this community service also gave me the chance to give to the poor.
Participating in such events requires a person to posses a sense of love, and compassion which
are some the key characteristics of a spiritually well person. Furthermore, since I have discovered
Christianity, my life has been full of purpose, guidance, love, joy, compassion, and the ability to
give. According to Galatians chapter five and

  • 2. San Luis Obispo High School Case Study This issue is one that San Luis Obispo High School recently faced. San Luis Coastal Unified School District has two high schools, San Luis Obispo High School (SLOHS), operating under a traditional trimester schedule, and Morro Bay High School (MBHS), running on a semester long block schedule. The district claimed that the current schedule at SLOHS was inequitable to all students within the district, as students at SLOHS are given more opportunities to take a variety of courses when compared to MBHS students. The district suggested that SLOHS propose an alternative schedule (not the trimester) or accept the fallback traditional semester schedule for the next schoolyear. According to the district superintendent, the inequity was due to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Tumultuous Election Of 1800 Essay Jack Norman Mr. Nicholls Period 7 November 4, 2016 Adams vs. Jefferson The Tumultuous Election of 1800 Analytical Book Review Adams vs Jefferson, The Tumultuous Election of 1800, describes the events of the infamous United States Presidential Election of 1800, the election that forever changed the landscape of American politics and reestablished the principles of the American Revolution. The election of 1800 was a battle of two political powerhouses: John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. They were two of America s founding fathers who were once great friends, but were thrown against each other as adversaries with the future of America in their hands. John Ferling, the author, began by describing the events that occurred just prior to the election, and painted the picture of John Adams travelling to Washington D.C. from his Massachusetts farm and Thomas Jefferson from his hilltop lair of Monticello in Virginia symbolizing the differences among Adam s northeastern simple farming roots and Jefferson s extravagant southern slave owning background. From the start, the author explains (without tipping his hat to the debacle the system would cause in the 1800 election) how in the 1796 and 1800 elections, the Constitution required the practice of each political party nominating two presidential candidates, with the candidates with the most votes becoming President and the second most becoming Vice President. The Federalists nominated Adams and Charles Pinckney from South Carolina; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Turning to math seemed an easy choice for me because I had been passionate about math since elementary school. I started to learn Olympic Mathematics in second grade and enjoyed the challenging topics. I was soon able to learn by myself with the help of training in logical thinking. When I was forced to stay at home for a whole school year due to a heart problem, I read the textbooks on my own and passed the final exams so that I could continue with my class the next year. In fifth grade, I was able to understand abstract concepts such as linear equations and use x and y to represent unknown variables. Winning numerous Olympic Mathematics competitions awards got me into the best middle school and high school in Beijing, where I continued to pursue my affection in Olympic Mathematics. The Four Stoke Farm Bikes пЃ¶Description of the product: The four stoke farm bikes also known as a quad, quad bike, three wheeler, or four wheeler, is defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a vehicle that we can drive on low pressure tires, with a seat that is comfortable and easy to drive for the driver, along with handlebars for handling control. As the name implies, it is designed to handle a wider variety of terrain than most other vehicles. Although it is a street legal vehicle in some countries, it is not street legal within most states and provinces of Australia, the United States or Canada. Each agriculturist and each homestead bicycle has a particular employment to accomplish, and specific plot of area to handle. • 6. How Did The Capture Of Nazi Germany s Recovery During The... When the Great Depression began, the British Empire suffered for high unemployment and poverty. The empire was still recovering from the Great War and the Depression surprised many government officials. Soon enough, the government took emergency measures to balance the budget and restore confidence in the pound by issuing an emergency budget, which immediately instituted a round of cuts in public spending and wages. Public sector wages and unemployment pay were cut by 10%, and income tax was raised from 4s 6d to 5s in the pound. However, these measures were unsuccessful as unemployment rose and the gold standard dropped. After years of measures to combat against the depression, a slow recovery begun in 1934 because of the withdrawal from the gold standard and the devaluation of the pound. As a result, British exports became more competitive on world markets. During that period of recovery, Nazi Germany was born as Hitler took complete control of the country. • 7. Al Wahhab, A Great Man, An Honorable Reformer And A... To his followers Abd al Wahhab was a great man, an outstanding reformer and a zealous preacher , proclaiming a message of al da wa ila l tawhid, (a belief in the unity of God alone), something which, according to him, Muslims had neglected to their detriment. Like a troubling desert storm he appeared in the Najd region of Arabia in the eighteenth century fulminating against the idolatrous practices and customs of the contemporary Bedouin. The sheikh started preaching the revival of Islam, states one writer, and ripped away the heresies and abuses which had grown up around Islam and . . . preached the faith in its original simplicity . A small number of tribesmen accepted him as Sheikh ul Islam and mujaddid, leader of Islam and renewer of the faith, and began a movement which quickly spread across Arabia. Presenting Abd al Wahhab as the preacher of reform , and referring to his great work , his powers of persuasion, personal magnetism and the compelling rightness of his cause , his supporters declare with alacrity how he hurl[ed] his doctrines into the teeth of the evildoers . As such Saudis today credit Abd al Wahhab as the one who uprooted polytheistic views [and] eradicate[d] the heresies and accretions affecting Islam, thereby pulling the Islamic faith out of the darkness of polytheism and error . Although no statues or monuments are erected in his honour, for such would be shirk, or idolatry, some Saudis name their sons Abd al Wahhab, and, as in the case ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When a person is going through a stressful event, the adrenal glands release catecholamines into the bloodstream. This mobilizes the body for action. Along with this, the hypothalamus sends signals to the pituitary gland which secretes the hormone (ACTH) which, in turn, stimulates a release of hormones called corticosteroids. These stimulate the release of chemicals that increase a person s energy and inhibits inflammation of tissues if a person gets injured. All of this is going on in the body when a person is under stress. If a person does not find a way to cope with stress, all this action in the body can lead to the suppression of the... Most confuse either or some mix both and make them into one. The beginnings or Merlin are confusing and muddled within the stories. While Taliesin has a set story similar to that of Moses in the Bible. Merlin appears in history under many hats, none of which include the giant blue pointy hat with stars that we all know today. Merlin s main role in the story is to guide Arthur into being king of Camelot. At this point, many say that Arthur does not have a life of his own since everything has been set for him and is being manipulated by Merlin. Though Merlin meddles with Arthur a lot, it is never known to Arthur that he is meant to be a king until he decides for himself and pulls Excalibur from the stone. Merlin directly led to the birth of Arthur by disguising his father, Uther, as Gorlois the husband of Igraine and allowed Uther to inseminate Igraine and have Arthur. Some stories even say he was Arthur s tutor and that he started the legend that whoever pulls the Excalibur from the stone will be the right and truthful heir to the throne. At the same time, he also persuaded the Lady of the Lake to present Excalibur, the real one, to Arthur. Although some stories say that Merlin died before Arthur s birth, most of the main legends show that Merlin was trapped by dark magic. Some legends say that Merlin fell in love with the Lady of the Lake and taught her everything and after she supposedly grew stronger than Merlin, she trapped him in a tower and that explains some of his disappearances in stories. C Motor Using Imc Speed Control of SE.D.C Motor using IMC (Simulation done on LabVIEW) Salim salimnitk@gmail.com Abstract: SEDC motors are used extensively in industrial variable speed applications because of most demanding speed torque characteristics and are simple in controlling aspects. This paper presents an implementation of internal model control (IMC) for speed control of separately excited SEDC motor based on LabVIEW. A mathematical model of the process has been developed using real plant data and then conventional controller has been designed. A comparative analysis of performance evaluation of controller has been done. Key Words: SEDC Motor, IMC, LabVIEW. 1Introduction DC motors are widely used in industrial applications, robot manipulators and home appliances, because of their high reliability, flexibility and low cost, where speed and position control of motor are required. This paper deals with the performance evaluation of internal model control method with a clear objective to control the speed of separately excited DC motor. In this paper, Speed of a SEDC motor is controlled using IMC. Separately excited DC motors are highly versatile and flexible in aspects of speed control. The basic property of separately excited DC motor is that speed of separately excited DC motor can be adjusted by varying its terminal voltage. Therefore, the separately excited DC motor control is better than other kinds of motors. SEDC motor is a highly controllable electrical actuator ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Organelles are membrane bound subdivisions, each specialised for a specific function. This experiment looks at the Plasma Membrane, which is a semipermeable layer surrounding the cell. It s primary job is to control what goes in and out of the cell. Molecules can move across this membrane in either an active movement or a passive movement. Active being that which requires energy and only occurs when molecules are required to move against the concentration gradient. The solutions of 2% and 10% both reached dynamic equilibrium as neither had lost nor gained water during the experiment, This indicates that the results may have been inconclusive because two, widely various solutions could not have both reached dynamic equilibrium with the potato cell. This leads to the idea that there were a few errors made while performing this experiment, which most likely had an effect on the results, causing them to be non reliable. Firstly, the test tubes had not been properly cleaned before the experiment took place. This caused a strange smell and a colouration of the potato tuber, it may also have increased or decreased the osmotic potential, though this cannot be known as it is not known what chemical residue may have been left in the test tubes. Secondly, the potato cells had been left in for three days instead of the recommended 24hrs. This mistake may have caused the soft, sogginess of the potato which rendered it difficult to pat dry and handle. During this part of the experiment, pieces of the cells were broken and lost down drains or stuck to the paper towel, as well as many still containing much excess water. Because of this, the weights measured could be inaccurate and therefor unreliable. Based on the data found by Clemson University Student Robert. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are wondering whether laptops in the college classroom actually facilitates a student s ability to learn or rather it distracts them from the lesson being taught. Laptops were originally considered to be a small niche market and were thought suitable mostly for specialized field applications such as the military, the Internal Revenue Service, accountants and sales representatives. But today, there are already more laptops than desktops in businesses, and laptops are becoming obligatory for student use and more popular for general use. The conflict lies in that a majority of college professors believe that allowing students to use laptop ... This makes laptop repair and troubleshooting far easier, and less expensive than most would think. * Low Power Consumption A typical laptop uses 20 90 W, compared to 100 800 W for desktops. This could be particularly beneficial for colleges which run hundreds of personal computers, multiplying the potential savings. * Quiet Laptops are often very quiet because they produce less heat and therefore require fewer and slower cooling fans making them less of a distraction in the classroom environment. * Battery a charged laptop can run several hours in case of a power outage and is not affected by short power interruptions and brownouts. * All in One designed to be portable, laptops have everything integrated in to the chassis. Disadvantages: * Cost Even though laptops provide less performance than desktop computers, they tend to be far more expensive due to its more compact and complex design. * Performance Laptops are not only significantly more expensive than desktop computers, but they do so at a lower performance level. Laptops as a result are disadvantaged when dealing with database, math, engineering, and financial software. * Upgradeability Laptops have very few upgradeable components and are typically limited to the ... The monster in Frankenstein says, Like Adam, I was apparently united by no link to any other being in existence; but his state was far different from mine in every other respect. He had come forth from the hands of God a perfect creature, happy and prosperous, guarded by the especial care of his Creator; he was allowed to converse with and acquire knowledge from beings of a superior nature, but I was wretched, helpless and alone. In Dylan Thomas poem, Do not go gentle into that good night and A.E Housman s poem, To An Athlete Dying Young the poets use literary devices to portray their different perspectives on death. In Thomas poem, he creates a sense of injustice and anger towards the perceived deathof his father. Housman, on the other hand, has a more serene outlook on the event even though it still depicts sadness. The metaphors used in Thomas poem show his resistance and rage on accepting his father s death. Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas l.3). is an example of just how much he needs his father to fight, if not for himself then for Thomas. When he says, ... However, even with rigorous planning, questions will still arise during shooting, questions that might not even be apparent or answered until the footage reaches the editing room. This idea of continuous motion reoccurs several times during the film helping the viewer connect scenes as well as ideas. Often a person or group of people walking across the screen will act as a wipe, pushing the last scene off while introducing the next. Most of the time the wipe is an insignificant character such as a jogger or a car driving by. Human wipes are also used within scenes to lead camera movement. A great example of this is Enid s art opening scene. In this scene the camera uses one continuous shot to move from the outside of the gallery to the room where Enid s piece is hanging. However this movement is not done in a single motion. Through out this movement the camera pauses three times, each time motivated to move again by a group of people walking in front of the camera in the same direction. The Nature Of Modern Corporations In 1868, the 14th amendment to the constitution officially declared those born on U.S soil citizens of the state, and forbade the states to deny any person the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (Berger). This amendment, originally created for newly freed African American slaves as a means to declare them as equal individuals under the law, has somehow been manipulated as a tool for large corporations (The Corporation). The Corporation, a 2003 documentary written by law professor Joel Bakan, examines the pathological character of modern corporations. The documentary analyzes the behaviors and economic influence of many common North American corporations such as Nike Inc., Coca Cola Co. and Sears Co and the increasing awareness of the harm many of these corporations are causing both locally and nationally. The Corporation pleads it s viewers to recognize lack of social responsibility, and hold modern corporation s accountable for their actions (Bansal). Noam Chomsky describes the corporation as designed by law to be only concerned for their stock holder as opposed to the community it serves (The Corporation). IoT is an intelligent collaboration of tiny sensors and devices giving new challenges to the end to end communication of things. 6lowpan (IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Networks) is a promising IoT IETF standard for connecting sensors across IPv6 clouds. Some sensing applications are time sensitive and may require bounded delay in sending the sensed data. Once the scarce resource becomes more and more terrified, people will turn to limit the usage. Since California has been dried for four years continuously and reached near crisis proportion, on April 1, 2015, Governor Jerry Brown signed an executive order that will restrict urban water usage by 25 percent to deal with the drought (Nagourney). We live our lives habitually without realizing what an amazing and important role skin plays in our every day routine. Our skin protects us from many things, keeps us informed of our surroundings and makes us aware of many dangers present. The sense of touch is our most developed feeling and the predecessor of all of our other senses. The author gives several examples on how we have incorporated our sense of touch to our colloquial language as an expression of just how much we use our skin. But our skin may serve more purposes than those of protection and information. Through several experiments it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Virginia Woolf s Of Human Bondage Of Human Bondage is, as we all know, written from Philip s point of view, and therefore we sympathize with Philip, care about what goes on his life, and even feel attached to him. But, if the story had been written from say, Mildred s point of view, we may not feet the same about Philip. Chances are, his characterization would be completely different because of how Mildred views him, and we would probably grow to dislike Philip as much as we learned to dislike Mildred. While we would still, most likely, see the faults in Mildred, the way we did with Philip, we would probably think of them in a kinder way. After all, we all disliked Mildred when she left Philip, who clearly loved her, to be with the German man. Yet, is that not what Philip did do Nora, who really did love him? The two characters have many similarities, yet we view one as good, and one as bad. Both raised by people other than their parents, both concerned with money, both easily distracted, both in love just, not necessarily with each other. They both turned to others for money when they were struggling; Philip wishing his uncle would die, Mildred begging Philip for help. Neither of these characters are exactly good people, but they are seen as opposing forces of good versus evil. Fantasy And Fantasy In Mulholland Drive As we contrast the first part of the film with the second, it becomes evident that the first appears to be all the more genuine, more in keeping with our expectations concerning reality. But this feeling of reality results from the film s fantastic dimension rather than its realism. Where we usually contrast fantasy with reality, Mulholland Drive underlines the connection between the two, portraying fantasy s role in giving reality with the structure that it has. The filmsupports Lacan s claim that everything we are allowed to approach by way of reality remains rooted in fantasy (Stavrakakis 62). Hence fantasy should not be seen as opposed to reality because it is fantasy that sustains what we experience as reality. This idea that fantasy supports our sense of reality is evident in Lost Highwayand earlier Lynch films, and he uses fantasy as a major category or theme in almost all of his films. The movie creates a sense of mystery and a sense of basic uncertainty that we normally connect with the element of desire. It uses darkness, threatening characters, ominous music and unusual editing sequences, all of which represents desire in a manner very typical of Hollywood narrative style. Desire is always associated with not knowing, posing questions that do not have answers, lack of narrative elements and confusing irrational series of random events. To these characters, their best days are with them all and each one has a special meaning to them. For Miles, he takes a brief moment to think about it, then starts saying how his best day was the same day they played the game. He described how everything that he did that day involved being with his new friends from Culver Creek. To Miles, this is clearly his best day because he came to realize that he finally has friends he can rely on and that he is not invisible to classmates, like he felt in Florida. For these characters, the best days have helped them live their lives better and pickup them up when they are down. With every best day in someone s life comes with a worst day. Worst days will make you sad for a length of time and you will feel hopeless during these stretches of time. People will come to see that worst days will involve the death of a loved one in a family. The fact that power was divided from one kingdom to three, however, shows decentralization of influence, which is an element of democracy. The formation of the three dynasties in China did not offer any practical solution to the chaotic situation in the country. This disapproves the imagination that democracy was growing in the country. If it was indeed democracy, then its growth had not ended. This is because after the formation of the three dynasties, political division in China widened even further.
