2. Titles
We plan to use the titles to slow down the pace of our
trailer, whilst we are establishing the plot details and
the characters.
We are also going to use the titles to give plot details
that the characters themselves do not reveal
Titles are also going to be used to drop hints about what
is going to happen later in the film
Rhetorical Questions could be used suggesting events
that could unfold in the actual plot.
3. Visual Effects
We plan to use visual effects to make the overall
presentation of our horror trailer more professional as well
as more appealing to our target audience
Furthermore, we want to use visual effects to make scenes
more effective
In certain cases, some scenes just cannot be made
effective in real life, therefore the visual effects need to
come in.
One of the scenes we intend to use visual effects for is the
end of the trailer, with a bloody hand print on a pane of
glass.
It is highly likely that shooting that scene in real life would
not be as effective as using visual effects, therefore
proving their “effectiveness”
4. Structure of the trailer
We plan to structure our trailer in a similar way to most
horror trailers, as it is the most effective structure
We intend to outline our plot straight away through the
use of character “narration” and titles.
We then develop the plot through titles on screen and
tension building scenes
Finally a fast paced montage with quick takes of
footage opens up questions for the viewer about what is
going on and makes them want to know what is
happening or what is going to happen.
Therefore, our intended use of this structure is to
entice our audience and make this trailer as effective as
possible.
5. Transitions
We intend to use transitions to spread out the trailer, so
that it is understandable for our audience
At the beginning of the trailer, we intend to use cut to
blacks to separate out the scenes, whilst outlining our
plot
This is going to be used when the main character is
being outlined to the audience
Dissolves are going to be used as the plot develops,
quickening up the pace of the trailer
In the montage, we intend to use cuts to again quicken
the overall pace of the trailer and build the tension for
the viewer.
