Horror poster - DEADLINE
- 2. This poster develops the idea of horror codes and conventions. This is exposed by the use of blood and weapons as well as the mask. The idea of hidden identity and the props that symbolise danger develops and pushes the codes and conventions of the horror genre. Due to the dark lighting and simple use of imagery without a featured background or setting challenge the codes and conventions as the posters normally give away more of the storyline.
- 4. I set up a black backdrop where I planned to take my photographs. I then got a knife, a pair of scissors, a mask and some watered down paint. After applying the paint to the mask and props as well as my models hands I decided to experiment with different compositions and shot types. I decided that it was best to advertise my film with the props to foreshadow the storyline. I the uploaded my chosen image to Photoshop and inserted it into my poster template. I had to adjust certain features such as the colours and positions in order to suit the image. I think this worked very well, however the image is slightly dark. I think the use of limited colour is very effective in making it simple and keeping all the attention on the images.
- 5. My magazine template and images was influenced through the research of other film posters. This developed an idea and sense of understanding on existing products and what is expected in the genre. During creating this on Photoshop I changed the lay out compared to what I originally planned as I thought it worked better. I then changed it again once uploading the image; I think that it was a developing process, which resulted in a positive outcome supported by my research and knowledge of the genre.
