2. On my magazine you can see various side stories, a
main story and image of the killer from my film, a
title, barcode and date. These are expectations
from a magazine. I think the blood and mask help
develop horror codes and conventions, which
helped make my magazine suitable for my targeted
audience. I think the limited colour and use of
yellow challenged the horror conventions as it took
a step away from the basic black, red and white.
However I think this was successful in making my
magazine look realistic and represent a horror
magazine as well as making it my own.
3. Researching into existing magazines such as
‘Empire’ has helped me develop ideas and a
template of my magazine. I decided on the
template before taking the image this did’t
affect my magazine as I did’t have to adjust my
set out to fit my image as my image fitted
perfectly.
4. I chose to use an image of the killer so I did’t
give away the main character or survivors of the
film. This is a perfect way to sell the story
without giving away to much information. The
blood on the mask suggest some violence and
death which gives away the sub genre. I used a
low angle shot to create a sense of importance
to the killer and power.
5. I think my magazine was successful in following
codes and conventions of the horror genre,
However I would like to experiment with more
images and more characters without over
crowding the page.
