The International Project Management Committee (IPMC): - Was established in 2010 by space agencies, companies, and organizations to share experiences and best practices in space project management globally. - Includes members from agencies like NASA, ESA, JAXA, CNES, and DLR who meet twice yearly and by video/phone to exchange information and coordinate activities. - Aims to organize events on project management topics, cooperate with other groups, and conduct studies to improve the field internationally. Recent work included evolving the NASA International Project Management course and participating in industry conferences. Upcoming, the group will help with a lessons learned workshop and adapt their course for broader use.

Both unexpected learnings and challenges to sustainability were discussed, such as defining digital literacies and ensuring long-term work integration.

He possesses expertise in Cognitive Neurosciences, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Knowledge Management, Group Processes, Human Resources and Workforce Development, Business Strategy, Technology-Enabled Learning, Research and Development, and Process Improvement.
Jon currently serves as the NASA Agency Deputy Chief Knowledge Officer (InuTeq), where he contributes to the development of the overall NASA Technical Workforce through Knowledge Services. He earned a B.A. in Psychology and Biology from the University of Southern Maine; a M.Ed. from Boston University; a M.A in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from George Mason University; and a Ph.D. in Human Development from Virginia Tech, as well as participating in diverse training and certifications in technology, project management, quality-related topics, acquisition and procurement, leadership, and coaching. He currently teaches several undergraduate and graduate programs and maintains an active research and publication agenda. Jon lives in the DC Metro area with his wife Allyson, son Zachary, and twin daughters Bevin and Riley. With the recent redevelopment of postgraduate courses in project management for the School of Civil Engineering and the Built Environment, new challenges were faced to make units more inclusive of a variety of enrolment preferences. The short term ambitions for the courses included developing units that are delivered both facetoface, and entirely online and have the potential to be scaled to meet the growing demand for continuing professional education. To ensure that students could join either facetoface or online offerings of the same units, the implementation team brought internal and external cohorts together on the same unit sites on Blackboard. The units are currently under evaluation but some early learnings may provide insight into new approaches to blended learning, and how these approaches have facilitated new ways of teaching and learning through tentative academic culture change.

Moodle Project in Mexico

With the recent redevelopment of postgraduate courses in project management for the School of Civil Engineering and the Built Environment, new challenges were faced to make units more inclusive of a variety of enrolment preferences. The short term ambitions for the courses included developing units that are delivered both facetoface, and entirely online and have the potential to be scaled to meet the growing demand for continuing professional education. To ensure that students could join either facetoface or online offerings of the same units, the implementation team brought internal and external cohorts together on the same unit sites on Blackboard. The units are currently under evaluation but some early learnings may provide insight into new approaches to blended learning, and how these approaches have facilitated new ways of teaching and learning through tentative academic culture change.

Moodle Project in Mexico

Sustainability staff are involved in many initiatives at a time, and often these are run in collaboration with multiple stakeholders. The Sustainability Office version 1.0 consisted of one staffer--it was easy to determine priorities, manage work flow, and keep track of programs and contacts. The Sustainability Office version 2.0 consists of multiple staff (or students) and a bigger presence on campus. This means we are faced with more “hands in the toybox” and increasing demands from the campus community. How do we juggle multiple concurrent projects, share institutional memory, nurture relationships with campus contacts, repeat best practices, and avoid past mistakes? Overall, how do we create a sense of personal sustainability within the professional operation of our sustainability programs?
Sustainability officers from four universities will share strategies they use to seek balance in the workplace. Many tools exist to help (or hinder) our workflow and projects--we just need to identify our specific needs and determine which tool is best for our work environment. Panelists will share tools they use to increase efficiency when managing staff and students, organizing and tracking progress of multiple projects, documenting and sharing campus metrics, and effectively harness the power of collaboration with campus partners. Rather than simply describing the tools we use, and the purpose(s) they serve on our campuses, we will share our thought processes and strategies in tool selection.

Mutation Testing for Task-Oriented Chatbots
Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.

The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.

A Deep Dive into ScyllaDB's Architecture
This talk will cover ScyllaDB Architecture from the cluster-level view and zoom in on data distribution and internal node architecture. In the process, we will learn the secret sauce used to get ScyllaDB's high availability and superior performance. We will also touch on the upcoming changes to ScyllaDB architecture, moving to strongly consistent metadata and tablets.

- 1. International Project Management Committee Overview and Status Dr. Edward Hoffman, Chairman International Project Management Committee (NASA Academy of Program/Project & Engineering Leadership)
- 2. IPMC Background • Established by members of space agencies, companies and professional organizations • Initial discussions in Galveston, Texas following NASA Project Management Challenge 2010 • First formal session held in Paris on 25 March 2010 during IAF Spring Meetings Goal: To establish a means to share experiences and best practices with space project/program management practitioners at the global level

IPMC Structure • Established as an IAF Committee • Members from space agencies, companies, universities and professional organizations • Meets at least twice per year – IAC and IAF Spring Meetings – Also holds periodic videocons and telecons • Works closely with the IAF’s Space Education and Outreach (SEOC), Workforce Development and Young Professionals Committees
- 4. IPMC Objectives • Exchange information on program/project management, technical workforce development, best practices, and other activities of mutual interest • Organize specialized symposia/events on topics of interest to the international space project management community • Cooperate with other organizations interested in the enhancement of space project management practices • Undertake studies, reports & projects that contribute to the improvement of space project management at the global level • Facilitate opportunities for collaboration among members

IPMC Committee Highlights • Impetus for the Committee began at PM Challenge 2010 in Galveston • Initial project: evolution of the NASA APPEL International Project Management Course • IPM-5 and IPM-6 successfully conducted (see next slide for IPM-6 highlights) • IPM-7 and IPM-8 scheduled – evolving toward a International Project Management course that supports broader space agency community needs. • IPMC members took part in/contributed to several other events: • PM Challenge 2010, 2011 and 2012 – International Track Sessions • APPEL Masters Forums including Passing the Torch -2 and -3, PI Forum-2 and APPEL Foundations of Aerospace course • Masters with Masters forums: Bolden/Dordain, Bolden/Wörner, Manning/Schmidt (Mars), Gerstenmaier/Shiraki (ISS), Bolden/Dordain/Wörner (Young Professionals), and Abiodun/Martinez (Africa) The IPMC today is a successful forum for informal sharing of activities, plans and challenges with other committee members.

Upcoming Activities and Plans • Lessons Learned Workshop • Organized by ESA in collaboration with CNES, DLR, JAXA and NASA • Will discuss various approaches and best practices for identifying, capturing, and disseminating lessons learned • Continued evolution of the International Project Management course • 2 offerings scheduled in 2012 • Continued participation and support from IPMC members • Opportunities to adapt curriculum for IPMC member use in courses • IPMC activities during IAC 2012 (planning underway)
