Yes, exactly. It was all of those things. This was a very simple example of the difference between reading a print book and reading an e-book. And kids LOVE it.
- We have quite a few things to share today so let’s begin. In our description for this session we said “Empower your students as you help them discover the wonder and excitement of reading in the digital age. This session will demonstrate how to use free online sources to create e-books that can be read and even written and shared immediately via hand-held digital devices such as SmartPhones, tablets, and e-readers, and introduce resources such as Ulukau and Ka`iwakiloumoku, and applications like, iBooks and StoryKit . The app includes the iBookstore, where you can download the latest books or your favorite classics Browse your library on a beautiful bookshelf Tap a book to open it Flip through pages with a swipe or a tap Bookmark or add notes to your favorite passages You can create and or read books in PDF and ePub formats (Lynne – demo how to do this with Ulukau PDF and Nalani’s book) Also explain what Ulukau is
- Story Kit is a free app from The International Children’s Digital Library (childrenslibrary.org) that allows the user to create a story combining pictures, text and audio.
