Speakers of the past always make us think more deeply than we would like to, as
confirmed in Grimke s Duty of the American Orator. In the passage the author,
Grimke, discusses his opinion that you must speak about the union to be an

Security Information Network known as HSIN . Web based situational awareness
programs are vital programs to have during any emergency event, whether it is used
during an active emergency event, training for an event, or for everyday use. The
city of Everett currently uses one form of web based situational awareness program
that is mainly used by first responders such as policeand fire agencies. Integrating a
new system that is beneficial for all federal, state, local, and tribal agencies as well as
organizations is the most beneficial for interoperability. The current city emergency

The leader s effectiveness is determined by task completion. Breevaart, Bakker,
Hetland, Demerouti, Olsen, and Espevik, (2014) suggest that the transactional leader
is involved in sustaining operational flow. Zhu, Sosik, Riggio, and Yang, (2012)
argue that the transactional leader uses the exchange of rewards to increase
performance and is not concerned with strategic planning, as much as daily
operations. Bass and Riggio, (2006) contend that the transactional leader depends on
a contingent reward for production. In this philosophy, a follower may be satisfied
with the reward and will display loyalty and remain committed to accomplish a task.
This commitment will remain as long as the reward stimulates the follower. The
transactional leader is concerned with operations and maintains incentives while the
task is getting completed. According to Breevaart, Bakker, Hetland, Demerouti,
Olsen, and Espevik, (2014) the transactional leader will use a host of incentives to
maintain the motivation of the followers. The incentives will remain as long as the

men and women came together to bring unity and harmony like never before: in the

uses imagery, symbolism, and language from when she was growing up. One of

this is, In a perfect circle the sky curved down to the level land and the wagon was
in the circle s exact middle, (13). This is a description of how it looked when

family were probably feeling a mix of both. Later in the book, Wilder provides

the cracks in the west wall, and stripes of shadow came down from the poles

The film Seven Samurai is about a village of farmers who have repeatedly suffered
yearly raids by a group of merciless bandits. These bandits steal from the farmers and
kidnap the women. Unable to protect themselves, the farmers decide to hire a
samurai to do the job for them. This changes the course of their lives in numerous
ways.
Initially, not everyone in the village agrees with the idea of hiring a group of samurai
to kill the bandits and protect them. They are indifferent about the situation and do
not want to confront the truth that hiring the samurai is their only chance of survival.
The villagers view the samurai as their enemy. They are infuriated by the way the
samurais have acted towards them.
It is important to understand the time period, the Sengoku Age, in which this film
is set. The Sengoku Age was an extremely bloody period of time. There was intense
and rigorous fighting going on. It is estimated that there was more fighting in
Japan in terms of intensity, frequency, and duration than anywhere else in the
world at this time. The class system played a vital role during this period of time as
well. The Japanese society was divided into a rigid four class system which
consisted of the warrior (aka samurai), farmer, artisan, and merchant. Samurai
warriors pledged their loyalty and used their swords in service of Japanese feudal
warlord also known as Daimyo. However, during the Segoku Age many of these
Daimyo were killed and their castles were destroyed.

Daughter
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark and Rappaccini s Daughter are both
fictional short stories written in the 1800s. Although these are two different
scenarios, both tend to share several similarities. They deal with relationships
between a man and woman, experiments, and ironically ends with a twist that
readers don t expect. In The Birthmark we first learn about the main character
named Aylmer. He is fascinated with science. He has devoted himself, however,
too unreservedly to scientific studies ever to be weaned from them by any second
passion (Hawthorne 952) He eventually finds love with his wife Georgianna, but
there is something about her he just will not seem to take much longer. Georgianna
has a red birthmark on her cheek which is the shape of a small hand. While she
thinks it is beautiful, the most important person in her life doesn t feel the same
way. In fact, Aylmer is truly disgusted and in shock by her mark, claiming it is a
visible mark of earthly imperfection (Hawthorne 953). Finally telling his wife how
he feels, Georgianna is in disbelief. She is upset, hurt, and confused, even

As a popular movie franchise the Divergent series is set in the future where society
has been divided into factions and everyone is at peace. The movie focuses on Tris
Prior, the main character, who needs to find a faction of fit into so society can

The Assyrians and the Indus are like hot and cold, two completely different early
civilizations. The Indus were around about 2300 B.C and the Assyrians were
around about 1200 B.C. The Assyrians had some of the first rulers to regulate laws

store items away. The Assyrians used money from trade to pay for expansive palaces
as well. The Assyrians and the Indus are more different than similar because while

Air Crash One of the most controversial and important air crash linked to human
error of the modern world happened on the night of February 12, 2009. Colgan air
flight 3407, operated by Continental Connection, was on final approach to runway
23 at Buffalo Niagara International Airport as it disappeared from radar. The aircraft
was a Bombardier Dash 8, a popular twin engine medium range turboprop Airliner
used by many regional carriers. The aircraft entered an uncontrollable stall crashing
into to a neighborhood 5 miles northeast of the airport killing all everyone on souls
on board. The Captain, Marvin Resnlow and first officer Rebecca Lynne were
behind the controls the night of the accident. The NTSB report determined error by
both pilots cause the aircraft to crash. Thus, pilot fatigues, improper recovery form a
stall were contributing factors. The victim s family members pushed for congress to
overhaul airline regulations. The NTBS investigation delivery multiple findings that
eventually led to a modernization of airline operations and pilot training. The NTSB
concluded both pilots were suffering from sleep deprivation and fatigue and
eventually led to make errors during

Flight In The Song Of Solomon
The Search for Meaning The Song of Solomon, written by Toni Morrison, elaborates
on the life of a boy: Milkman, as he navigates through oppression and self identity
and ultimately comes to terms with himself, his family, and friends. One prevalent
theme that is heavily implemented in the novel is flight. Each character possesses
their own internal obstacles and come up with their own solutions in order to fly .
Some succeed while others become lost in their own complications. Although the
initial perception of flight is the symbolization of freedom, a deeper look reveals that
it represents personal forgiveness and acceptance. The meaning of flight is a
malleable term that shifts from a rigid definition to a broader terminology. The initial
It expresses the initial apathy and boredom of his world that play into his mindset
and actions. Boredom, which had begun as a mild infection now took him over
completely. No activity seemed worth the doing, no conversation worth having
(90). Milkman loses his purpose in life and perceives society as tedious. There
seems to be no escape for him and he starts to explore his options to escape
temporarily. Hagar raised the knife again...The paralyzed woman and the frozen
man. At the thirtieth second Milkman knew he had won...turned away from her
wide, dark, pleading, hollow eyes (130). One toxic escape of Milkman s consists of
using Hagar sexually in order to satisfy himself. This ultimately leads to her
obsessiveness with him and her downfall. Milkman has little regard for himself and
even less regard for others. He continues to escape as he attempts to integrate himself
into HonorГ© Island where the richer African American community resides.
Materialism and indifference are heavy influencers in the early days of Milkman as
he attempts to liberate himself from racism and personal battles. Flight appears to do
