The 2020 Assam floods allude to a severe flood occurrence on the Brahmaputra River in the Indian state of Assam that coincided with the COVID-19 epidemic. Flooding began in May 2020 as a result of severe rain, impacting 30,000 people and ruining crops in five regions. As of October 2020, flooding had impacted over five million people, taking the lives of 123 individuals and causing an additional 26 deaths owing to landslides. 5474 villages had been devastated, and over 150 thousand people had sought refuge in relief camps.

Abstract:
Since December 2010, a series of protests and uprisings have shocked North African countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Yemen and more. In this paper, focusing mainly on the Egyptian revolution, we provide evidence of the intense edit activity occurred during these uprisings on the related Wikipedia
pages. Thousands of people provided their contribution on the content pages and discussed improvements and disagreements on the associated talk pages as the traumatic events unfolded. We
propose to interpret this phenomenon as a process of collective memory building and argue how on Wikipedia this can be studied empirically and quantitatively in real time. We explore and suggest possible directions for future research on collective memory formation of traumatic and controversial events in Wikipedia.

Kedarnath Valley – one of the worst affected areas – is
only accessible by helicopters.
Bad weather could also disrupt the restoration of
infrastructure and cause roads that have been cleared
to become choked again.

7. Although the temple withstood the severity of the floods, the temple
complex and surrounding areas were destroyed by the flood, resulting in
the death of several thousands of pilgrims and local people. All the
shops and hotels were destroyed and all roads were broken. Number of
people took shelter inside the temple for hours together , until Indian
army airlifted them to safer places.

10. The terrible magnitude of nature's fury in Uttarakhand unfolded on
Wednesday as the death toll rose to 150 with fears that it may go up
substantially as large parts remained under water while hundreds of
houses and buildings lay in ruins.

11. At present the area is only accessible by air and establishing
the narrow roads and the foot bridges will be crucial. Also
barring the temple everything around remains in shambles
which needs restoration work and as hinted by the
Uttarakhand CM will take at least 2 years, during which no
yatra is possible at all.
Major Challenge
12. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Indo-Tibetan Border
Police (ITBP) personnel have so far rescued 32,772 people from different
areas of Uttarakhand following landslides and floods,
Of the 32,772, including pilgrims and residents, 26,538 were rescued by
ITBP while 6,234 were evacuated by NDRF personnel till Monday
afternoon.

13. Defending its role in the rescue operations in the flood-
ravaged Uttarakhand, ISRO had played its role in the largest
rescue operations in the country, saving thousands of lives.
