Three year course focuses on developing practical skills in documentary film making
alongside journalism practice. Also explore media and cultural studies. Professional skills to
prepare for future: Documentary filmmaking, writing and multimedia journalism, reflection

For the first year the modules are introductions to film technologies, scholarly practice,
filmmaking and documentary . Optional modules go from media studies and social studies to
world cinema and journalism.
Second year modules are work experience, research methods, culture media and identity,
making a short documentary and analysing documentary practice. Optional modules are
from film theory and journalism to studies into race, culture and identity to celebrity culture.
Third year modules are all optional meaning that I will have a choice from what type of
modules I will do, it goes from the research into the media industry and advertising to
creating short films and much more.
Teaching time and independent study change each year but there is always much more
independent study than teaching time.
I'll be assessed on coursework but I will have some practical exams.
