Sunderland Culture is a charity based in Sunderland that aims to inspire youth and educate them about the region's history and future potential. They hold exhibitions and classes to engage the community. The "Bright Lights" exhibition features art by local youth to inspire and engage them. The document discusses conducting research through a questionnaire for the 16-25 year old target audience. It provides ideas for a documentary on generations growing up in the northeast and the Newcastle-Sunderland football rivalry. Print poster ideas focus on creating a collage to showcase the identity of the northeast region of England.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Bright Lights
About:
5. From the brief I was give a small description of the target audience ages range which
is young people from 16 – 25 years old. They also added in the brief that they wanted
to engage young people
and educate them on local talent
.
From this I decided to create a Questionnaire in order to find more out about the
target audience.
Target Audience
Primary Research
From the Questionnaire, I asked many questions such as their age, gender and locations in order to gain more information about
what the most common one is. As this would give me an indication if they were still in some form of education, how mature they
were and were they from the area.
I wanted them to feel move apart of the bright lights project so I gave them options of what type of documentary and art pieces
they would like so about the Northeast.
I gave them more genres, ideas and much more so they truly felt as they were apart of the desion making process which but also
I wanted to see what they would mostly want to see and gave them options that would fit into the bright lights project.
6. Why
Documentary
And
Print?
I chose to a Documentary for my
project for Bright Lights as I wanted
to create a video form of art to show
people a moving image production
of Sunderland.
I believed this be one of the best
ways to attract the audience
attention and be able to inspire
them and show them the growth of
Sunderland.
Documentary
Print?
I chose to a Print Posters for my
project along side a documentary
as i believe this would also be a
good way to attract my target
audience attention as I can make it
eye catching and they wont have to
watch a documentary if they do not
have time.
A print artwork is also able to show
that Sunderland can be capture in
many different forms of media
8. For my first idea I would create an expository and participatory documentary
about how the generations who grew up in the Northeast are similar but
different in many ways.
I want to gather members of the community with different ages and
experiences to show how much we have changed or stayed the same but to
also show that we are together.
The reason why I chose to create an expository and participatory is because
expository documentaries don't give much room for subjectivity; I want the
audience to react in a certain way.
And with participatory documentaries , the audience is allowed to see the
filmmaker asking the questions.
This establishes a clear relationship between me and the interview subject,
while also giving the audience a more "behind the scenes" look at the
filmmaker and the subject responses to make it more human and more light
hearted.
These genres of documentary would help me connect to the audience and
help the, relate more to the interview and give them childhood nostalgia.
Idea 1 - growth of Generation
9. For my second idea, I wanted to show the football rivalry between
Newcastle and Sunderland as growing up in the Northeast you
are taught the distinction between them and how you are jugged
on the football team you support in the region.
When growing up in the Northeast you hear a lot about the rivalry
between Newcastle and Sunderland football club and how there
fans are very passionate about the game.
As children we learn this behavior and believe that the only way
to see what some is really like depends on the football team they
support.
I wanted to capture this to in a participatory style of documentary as
the audience experiences the film through the my point of view,
allowing them to understand how the I felt in the moment and
consider how they might have reacted in the same situation.
Idea 2 - Football Rivals
10. For my final ides for the my documentary project I decided a
excellent option would be to create a documentary based on the
youth of todays generation.
I feel like this documentary will be enjoyed by the target audience
due to them begin in this young generation z but also they can
sympathise with growing up in this generation.
The documentary will show:
How the youth of Today is like
How they are taught
How they are treated from older generations
How they are so different from other generations
And why are many of them go against the rules.
I really wanted to show the audience how they are different from the
other generations.
Idea 3 - WILD YOUTH
11. I have considered every idea for the Documentary and I have
decided to choose Growth of Generations for the idea for my
documentary for blinding lights as I believe it will attract the
audience target more than the other ideas and make them
more empathetic towards the documentary.
I also believe that this idea will be the best to bring light on how
the upbringing in the northeast can be so tough for young
people.
Which Documentary Idea
I will Choose
13. Identity Collage
For my Identity of the Northeast art pieces, when I began to think
about this, I thought creating a collage of old and new photographs
of the Northeast might be an excellent way to show the identity of the
northeast and how it changed.
I believe this idea will really interest the target audience and gain
more audience as many people want to know what Sunderland is
truly known for.
Many people in Sunderland feel unnoticed as they are not very well
known about England, so to create a piece what shows their true
identity will help bring a sense of pride with them.
To create this I will have a black and white theme with colors coming
through in order to show the past, present and future of Sunderland. I
was thinking of creating a glitch with the art piece to give it more
color and eye catching to the audience.
14. Identity of the Northeast idea is going to be a broader idea on the
identity of Sunderland.
This idea is going to be about how the Northeast of England is
represented to the rest of the world and how we truly are.
I wanted to give a light to the northeast of England as Leeds and
Manchester are seen as the north of England so many people do not look
past that.
With this idea I will show the past and present of the Northeast through
either a collage or photographs showing how the past with a torn piece
in the middle showing the future underneath it.
The northeast is very wide area so there are many different types of
accents, cultures and different identity area meaning i am going to at
least involve one of each identity to represent the full Northeast.
Identity of Northeast
15. Which Print Idea
For my art piece, I have deiced i will go for identity of the Northeast.
As I believe that it will have more of an audience to target towards
and it needs more light shown on it but also I am not limited on
monuments and iconic places as there are not many in
Sunderland.
I also believe the target audience will also be more intrested in the
art piece of the full northeast as it shows how far we have grown all
together and it will be easy to add in all the parts of the Northeast
into the final piece.
I will Choose
