Peer observation is used at NILE for teacher professional development. It provides opportunities for teachers to gain new ideas, observe different teaching perspectives, and build trust among colleagues. NILE implements a variety of peer observation approaches, including arranged observations as well as shorter "drop-in" observations. Pre-observation discussions, observation feedback, and reflection are important parts of the process to ensure peer observation results in lasting benefits to teachers and their teaching.

The Virtual Teachers Toolbox (VTT-BOX.EU) project aims to create an online toolbox to help teachers develop open and distance learning courses. The two-year project involves partners from five European countries. The toolbox will include an innovative self-evaluation method, a learner-centered pedagogical approach, a quality enhancement framework, and focus on digital competencies. An initial pilot was positive, with learners appreciating the quick visibility of learning progress. The project is funded by the European Commission to support innovation and sharing of best practices in education.

GenAI can help improve teaching and learning by providing personalized feedback and recommendations to students based on their progress, strengths and weaknesses. It can analyze large amounts of open educational resources and course materials to help educators develop customized lesson plans and learning paths for different students. By automating certain administrative and repetitive tasks, GenAI also allows teachers to focus more on one-on-one support and guidance for students.
The ICDE OER Advocacy Committee is hosting an event to promote open educational resources on a global scale. Attendees will learn about the committee's role in advocating for OER implementation and how OER aligns with UNESCO's goals of inclusive, equitable education. The agenda includes presentations from the committee chair and ambassadors on global OER initiatives, innovative working groups, and the role of OER in achieving quality education for all as outlined in the UNESCO 2030 Agenda. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a panel discussion and online Padlet forum on transforming education through open resources and removing boundaries to learning.

21. ICDE OER Advocacy Committee
At the 27th ICDE World Conference in Toronto, October 2017, ICDE launched a
committee for the global advocacy of OER as a reinforcement and support to
the ICDE Chairs in OER. Paul Bardack, the Chair Emeritus of the United States
Distance Learning Association, serves as the first Chairperson of the Committee,
that works to increase global recognition of OER; and to provide policy support
for the uptake, use and reuse of OER.
Committee members
All members of the ICDE Advocacy Committee are appointed Ambassadors for
the global advocacy of OER for a limited term until end 2019. A smaller group of
the members form a core group that works more closely with the chair to facilitate
the activities of the Committee and its members:

22. The ICDE Quality Network
was established in November 2016 by the appointment of Focal Points on Quality
by the ICDE Executive Committee. The Focal Points on Quality (FPQs) have a
leading and coordinating role for quality work in their respective regions. Executive
Committee member Alan Tait is appointed as Chair for the Quality Network and
coordinates the regional FPQs.
Main tasks and responsibilities for the ICDE FPQs for quality:
1.Have a dialogue with UNESCO regional events for Quality and relate to regional
and central quality events.
2.Advice the Executive Committee in how ICDE should position its quality work on
the global agenda.
3.Give input and support to the production of a reference document (report) with
an overview and state of play of online, open, flexible and technology enhanced
education.
4.Stimulate and facilitate for regional task forces in their own regions.

impact of activities of the International Council for Open and Distance Education

Operational Network.
