HUNTINGTOWN HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION
                   DEPARTMENT
                                               2007-2008

Dear Parents and Guardians:

This letter has been prepared for the purpose of acquainting both pupils and parents
with the policies and regulations of the Huntingtown High School Physical Education
Department. We are asking for your Cooperation with implementation and enforcement
of these regulations in order for your child to realize his or her greatest potential.

                                 POLICIES AND REGULATIONS

DRESS

In the interest of health, appearance and safety, all pupils are required to wear a physical education
uniform. The uniform consists of a shirt, shorts, white socks, and tennis shoes. Students will be able to
purchase the uniform from Huntingtown High School. Shirts are 100% cotton. Shorts are micro-mesh
nylon. The cost of the entire uniform and locker rental is $25.00. The students name will be placed
on the uniform to help with identification. Sweatshirts are acceptable and recommended for wearing
outside in cold weather as long as they are worn over a physical education uniform and are not worn to or
from physical education class. Under no circumstance is a sweatshirt an acceptable substitute for a
uniform shirt for use during inside activity.
Each student must be dressed in full uniform in order to participate in class. If a student forgets his/her
physical education uniform, a loaner uniform may be rented for $ 1.00 for that period only and must be
turned in at the end of that class. Students will be allowed one IOU.
Wearing uniforms inside out, cutting off the sleeves, writing on the uniform, or crossing out the
name on the shirt is not acceptable. At no time should students wear uniforms with other
student’s names on the uniform.

SHOES
Students are to wear the following types of shoes during physical education class: laced tennis shoes,
closed front and back, and flat heels and soles. Any other type will be detrimental to the students’ safety
and will not be acceptable attire.

EXCUSES

The parent or guardian must provide a note in the event a student is unable to participate in class. If an
illness or an injury prevents a student from participation for more than 3 days, a note must be provided by
a physician. A note only excuses a student from participation, not from dressing out. Students are still
required to dress at all times, unless handicapped by a cast, splint, etc. Short term and extended illness
will result in written work for the student.

GRADING

75% of the course grade is based upon dress and level of participation.
                      Five (5) points per day:
                               -Two (2) points participation
-Two (2) points on time and dressed
                               -One (1) teacher discretion
25% of course grade is based upon in class academic and skills work.

20% of the final grade is based on the final exam.
6 or more non-dress days will result in failing for the quarter
CLASS PROCEDURE

All students must be inside the locker room before the late bell; a tardy will be given if late.
Students will remain in the locker room at the beginning and end of the class until dismissed by the
teacher or will be allowed in the gym under teacher supervision. When dismissed from the locker room,
all students will report to the designated area for their class and sit down. Ample time at the end of class
will be allowed for students to report back to the locker room to shower and change for their next class.
Students should leave all equipment alone until the teacher gives the directions to begin activity.
Students should report all injuries immediately to the teacher. There will be no food or snacks allowed in
the locker room.

ATTENDANCE

Class attendance is a requirement and the regulations established by the Board of Education will be
followed.

TARDY

Students will follow school tardy policies.

VALUABLES

Student’s valuable personal property should be left at home. Valuables brought to school should be
locked in a secure place. The Huntingtown High School Physical Education Department CANNOT
insure the safety of valuables. All jewelry should be removed before class and locked up.

LOCKS AND LOCKERS

Lockers will be assigned for use by the student. Students cannot share lockers and should not give out
their locker combinations.
All street clothing, money and jewelry must be locked in student’s lockers during physical education class.

FAILURE TO DRESS

The following steps will be taken if a student fails to dress for physical education per quarter:

        1. First offense - Warning by teacher
        2. Second offense - Parent contact by letter
        3. Third offense - Administrative Detention
        4. Fourth Offense – 2nd Adm. Detention
        5. Fifth Offense – 1 Day ISS
        6. Sixth Offense – 2 Day ISS…. Failure for the quarter!
        7. Seventh Offense – 3 Day ISS
        8. Eight Offense – Saturday School
        9. Ninth Offense – 1 Day OSS
        10. Tenth Offense – 3 Days OSS
Please read this letter with your son or daughter and sign the form below. Please
list any medical problems.
Return the signed portion to the physical education department. If you desire
additional information, contact the physical education teacher before or after
school

                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                             Huntingtown High School
                                                                                             Physical Education Department

Huntingtown PE Uniform and Dress Code Policy

  • 1. HUNTINGTOWN HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT 2007-2008 Dear Parents and Guardians: This letter has been prepared for the purpose of acquainting both pupils and parents with the policies and regulations of the Huntingtown High School Physical Education Department. We are asking for your Cooperation with implementation and enforcement of these regulations in order for your child to realize his or her greatest potential. POLICIES AND REGULATIONS DRESS In the interest of health, appearance and safety, all pupils are required to wear a physical education uniform. The uniform consists of a shirt, shorts, white socks, and tennis shoes. Students will be able to purchase the uniform from Huntingtown High School. Shirts are 100% cotton. Shorts are micro-mesh nylon. The cost of the entire uniform and locker rental is $25.00. The students name will be placed on the uniform to help with identification. Sweatshirts are acceptable and recommended for wearing outside in cold weather as long as they are worn over a physical education uniform and are not worn to or from physical education class. Under no circumstance is a sweatshirt an acceptable substitute for a uniform shirt for use during inside activity. Each student must be dressed in full uniform in order to participate in class. If a student forgets his/her physical education uniform, a loaner uniform may be rented for $ 1.00 for that period only and must be turned in at the end of that class. Students will be allowed one IOU. Wearing uniforms inside out, cutting off the sleeves, writing on the uniform, or crossing out the name on the shirt is not acceptable. At no time should students wear uniforms with other student’s names on the uniform. SHOES Students are to wear the following types of shoes during physical education class: laced tennis shoes, closed front and back, and flat heels and soles. Any other type will be detrimental to the students’ safety and will not be acceptable attire. EXCUSES The parent or guardian must provide a note in the event a student is unable to participate in class. If an illness or an injury prevents a student from participation for more than 3 days, a note must be provided by a physician. A note only excuses a student from participation, not from dressing out. Students are still required to dress at all times, unless handicapped by a cast, splint, etc. Short term and extended illness will result in written work for the student. GRADING 75% of the course grade is based upon dress and level of participation.
