Peter The Great Religion Summary
Religion:
In 1709 Peter the Great rallied the country, evicted the invaders from the north and established his
frontiers on the shores of the Baltic and the Gulf of Finland. Here on the swamp he had in 1703 begun
construction of a new capital, St. Petersburg.
The communist party, the repository of ultimate power in the Soviet Union, is not a party at all in the
Western sense. It is not a mass political organization, with many voting adherents and relatively few
active members, but a small, highly select band of men and women who rule the country with great
power.
Economy:
While Karl Marx laid down many specific rules for setting up a communist state politically, he did not
give his followers any advice on how to organize a socialist

The Case Of William Marbury Deserved The Commission Or Not
This case was a case for the ages that challenged the very decision of our newly elected president. The
former President Adam after a grueling election has lost and in order to maintain the legacy of the
Federalist, he began to appoint justices to the Supreme Court. These judges were appointed by the
president and confirmed by the Senate, but unfortunately for these justices, the letters that confirmed
the appointment never reached the potential justices. Adams was working quickly to push the
appointments through, but unfortunately he ran out of time and Jefferson took office. Jefferson saw the
appointment letters on his desk and discarded them. One of the potential justices was William
Marbury and he sued the president for his Supreme Court appointment. His goal was to have the court
to order a writ of mandamus, which if completed, would order a government official to fulfil their
official duties. The Chief justice presented three questions that needed to be decided by the court. The
first issue addressed was whether William Marbury deserved the commission or not. The court opened
the questioned if the law had a remedy for the situation. The final question was whether the writ of
mandamus the appropriate legal action in the case. These questions were debated and the court
confirmed that Marbury deserved the commission, but they found that the Judiciary Act of 1789 which
allowed the court to submit the very writ of mandamus Marbury needed was unconstitutional.

Cost calculation of project
The cost, team size and LOC are measured on the bases of COCOMO model. It is a constructive cost
mode. Effort of the project is calculated by the help of algorithm models. One of these models which
are widely used is COCOMO model. For the cost estimation of any project, COCOMO (constructive
cost model) is used. This model was developed by Boehm in 1981. There are three versions of the
COCOMO which are listed below:
Basic COCOMO.
Intermediate COCOMO. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, the quality characteristics which are must be maintained by the software are known
as non functional requirements. The functional requirements of the software are must be tested at the
beginning phase but the security requirements, reliability and safety requirements (Non functional
requirements) are tested after the end of propose process.
For the system, which should never be failed, the reliability test of the software should be done. For
this, the black box and white box testing should be done on the software. After the successful
development of the software, a beta version should be released. The errors and bugs related to the
security and functional requirements can be find out in an easy manner.
Conclusion
For the given project, project manager plays very important role. He/she will decide role of each team
member, team size, etc. The selection of development model is also done by him. The waterfall model
is basic model and is recommended. The black box and white box testing methods will be selected for
testing the project.

William Crookes Essay
A man by the name of William Crookes was one of the main contributors to the new fields of physics
and chemistry that emerged in the late 19th century. Crookes analysis of the photographic process in
the 1850s inspired his work in the science of spectroscopy. Using techniques of spectroscopy Crookes
discovered the element thallium. His efforts in discovering the weight of thallium in an evacuated
chamber led to his research in vacuum physics.
When Crookes was sixteen he entered the Royal College of Chemistry. He studied under August
Wilhelm von Hofmann as an assistant in 1851. A few years later while attending a meeting at the
Royal Institution, Crookes met the physicist Michael Faraday, who convinced him to switch his

tests to contact spirits and all other paranormal phenomena, however; he still supported the Society for

Treatment of Religion and the Church in Pedro Paramo and...
Christianity has become, in over two millennia, the world s largest religion, spreading to almost every
corner of the world. Based on this fact, it does not come as much of a surprise that Juan Rulfo s 1955
Mexican novel, Pedro Paramo, and Robertson Davies 1970 Canadian one, Fifth Business, are both
largely affected by this pervasive religion. What is interesting, however, is that despite the vast
differences in culture and time, a comparison can be made of the authors treatment of Christianity and
the church in the books, which both come to similar conclusions.
The first major similarity in the books on this particular subject is that both Rulfo and Davies show
Christianity and the church as being flawed. Father Renteria, the local ... Show more content on

Dempster as well as his family s and church s failure to understand his interests in saints and magic
that force him to realize one flaw of the Christian religion: its inability to capture the entire feeling of
spirituality.
One of the major faults that Rulfo portrays of the Church in Pedro Paramo, is that it fails in its main
responsibility of providing moral standards to the people of Comala. The novel illustrates characters
that have sinned more than any other, yet show little or no guilt. Rulfo s book contains a careful listing
of the cruelties that the Paramos inflicted on the people of Comala: Rumor has it that your brother was
murdered by [Miguel Paramo] and you believe that your niece Ana was raped by him. 6, Pedro
Paramo slaughtered so many folks after his father was murdered that he killed nearly everybody who
attended that wedding. 7 However, despite these crimes, neither Miguel nor Pedro seems to feel any
remorse for their actions. After listening to a number of women confess to having sinned for either
sleeping with Pedro Paramo, or bearing his children, Father Renteria says, I kept waiting for him to
come and confess something, but he never did. 8 Renteria also refuses to absolve Miguel at first,
saying, [he] died without forgiveness. 9
Similarly, in Fifth Business, the character

Allende and the Weavers of Revolution
In Peter Winn s Weavers of Revolution, a factory in Santiago, Chile fights for their independence
against the Chilean government of the 1970 s. While this rebellion is going on, presidential elections
are taking place and Salvador Allende is the presidential candidate which represents the common
people. The relation between Allende and the people he represents is a unique one because at first this
class, the working class, helps and supports Allende to become president, but then both parties realize
their different plans for the future and the working class actually contributes to the downfall of
Allende s presidency. At first, the working class heavily supported ... Show more content on

Once Allende becomes elected, the two revolutions which were supposed to compliment each other
actually start to work against each other. The first type of revolution is the revolution from below ,
which is characteristic of the workers in the Yarur rebelling against the Chilean government. The other
type is the revolution from above , this was the revolution common of the higher class like Allende
working towards workers rights. At first, the workers think that their revolution from below was only
helping Allende s revolution from above. The workers did things like form unions for the first time, or
were even so bold to strike against the mill in order to gain complete control over it. Strikes had
happened before which were about things like wages or unions, but this was different for the fact that
they wanted total control of the mill. Allende was forced to give the workers the power to control the
mill. This is just one of the examples of how the revolution from below sometimes coincided with or
complemented, but increasingly diverged from, the legalistic and modulated revolution from above
(141). For the most part in fact, the strategies of Allende were disrupted by the revolution from below
because of their need for extreme immediate progress. This was frustrating for Allende and his cabinet
because they were constantly at the demand of the working class they falsely claimed to know and
represent. Local events in Chile from the lower class

The Principle Of Population By Thomas Malthus
POLS1301 Essay One
Thomas Malthus 1798 An Essay on the Principle of Population, Chapter 1
Thomas Malthus was an English philosopher who lived from 1766 to 1834, An Essay on the Principle
of Population, is one of the most influential pieces of writing in history. Not only did it help to
establish the modern field of economics, it aided Charles Darwin on his regarding evolutionary
science. Malthus core argument that runs a majority of the book is dedicated to the Iron Law of
Population . This essay will seek to examine the premises of Thomas Malthus 1798 an Essay on the
Principle of Population and conclude on its argument as well as provide a justification of the invalidity
of the argument. In addition, it will identify its multiple influences on historical contexts throughout
time.
The most persistent theory written by Thomas Malthus in 1798 regarding population growth and the
effects on humanity, which is rather ironic as it has a almost lack of connection to the actual history of
humanity and its population growth. In 100CE the population of the Earth was estimated to be under
one billion people, roughly at 200 million people, following on almost 2 millennia later to 1800CE the
population had seen a mere growth to approximately 800 million. During this time Malthus wrote a
piece regarding the slow growth in population and why this was rate was the way things would be for
the rest of human life. He put forward that the limits of human population growth are due to

Use Of Repetition In Cry The Beloved Country
English Essay
In the novel, Cry, The Beloved Country, the protagonist Reverend Stephen Kumalo, who lives in a
small valley in South Africa, must decide whether to find his family in Johannesburg. In the second
chapter of the book, a lot of his personality is revealed, from when a small child opens the door to give
him a letter, to when he decides he must leave to meet his family again. In order to develop the
character of Stephen Kumalo, Paton uses simile, imagery, repetition and metaphor to explain his
interactions with people, and how he reacts under certain conditions.
In the beginning of chapter two, Stephen is shown to be a very important figure in the village. When a
child knocks on the door of Kumalo, Paton uses simile to show how ... Show more content on

When he needs to use the money, saved up for their child Absalom, to visit his sick sister, Kumalo
replies, How can I use it? He said. This money was to send Absalom to St Chad s. Absalom will never
go now to St Chad s. How can you say that? How can you say such a thing? . Paton uses repetition of
the same question to show how Kumalo can be reluctant to face the facts about his child, who lives in
Johannesburg, and not being able to see him for a long time, which in turn implies his anger. During
his frustration for his family, his naivety is hinted at, when he thinks that his child is going to come
back or write a letter for him to use the money to go to St Chad s, when it is highly unlikely something
such as that would happen. When he realises that he needs to go to Johannesburg to visit his sick
sister, the author uses metaphor to show how hurt and sensitive he is. You have opened a door, and
because you have opened it, we must go through . The doors, representing the fact that he must leave
the tribe and go somewhere else, is something that he does not want to pass through, therefore he
blames it on his wife. He also blames his wife, because he realises what she says is true, which hurts
him the most, causing him to realise that he must go through anyway. Nonetheless, through his

Differential Effects of American Destabilization Policy...
Differential Effects of American Destabilization Policy in Chile in the 1970s and Cuba in the 1990s
Just three years after taking office in 1970, Chile s military removed the leftist President Salvador
Allende from power. In Cuba, nearly forty years after his ascension to power in 1959, Fidel Castro
continues to control a communist regime. In Chile in the early 1970s and in Cuba in the early 1990s,
the United States exasperated severe economic crises. In addition, the United States attempted to
foster political opposition to create coup climates to overthrow both leaders. The similarities in these
histories end there. Chile s open, democratic political system allowed the U.S. to polarize the nation,

businesses created two thirds of the $1.6 in foreign investment, and two U.S. copper corporations
alone controlled 80 percent of the Chilean copper industry. Under their destabilization strategy, the
U.S. undertook economic measures designed to make the Chilean economy scream. The Nixon
administration sought to terminate and reduce financing for U.S. exports and guarantees for corporate
investment, lobby private investors to curb economic interests, bring maximum feasible influence on
the multilateral banks to cut their lending to Chile, terminate bilateral economic aid programs, and
dump U.S. copper holdings onto the international market, and lower prices. In addition to
implementing direct economic measures, the Nixon administration also used its influence to affect the
policies of international economic players. For example, US officials worked behind the scenes to
assure that the World Bank denied 21 million livestock improvement credit and future loans to Chile.
The U.S. also blocked negotiations, and putting pressure against Chile in the Paris Club debt
negotiations regarding the $1 billion debt that the Frei government had run up in U.S. banks. In sum,
these policies were effective. In 1970, loans to Chile were cut from $46 million to $2 million by the
IDB, $31 million to $0 by thy World Bank, $110 million to $3 million in bilateral U.S. assistance by
the AID, and $280 million to $0 by the Export Import bank.

Amaterasu s Downfall
How Japan Ceased to Revolve Around the Sun Shintoism has deep roots in both the culture and
government of Japan; it EDIT. The goddess Amaterasu is a major part of Shinto lore, and, some would
argue, the Japanese government. However, Amaterasu had as much of a role in the governing body as
the Japanese Emperor himself did very little. Her influence extended only as far as the duties allotted
to the Emperor, who, since the conception of his position, has been merely a figurehead. At certain
points, even the emperors themselves did not support Amaterasu, and abandoned Shintoism altogether.
After a brief renaissance during the Meiji period, the Emperor, and in effect, Amaterasu went back to a
rule based only in pageantry and ceremonial charge. [source 1]

Buddhist priests were forced out of their shrines if they refused to convert, and shunned by the

fearing it would gain strength. Acting swiftly, on May 15th, 1868, the government issued an order to
all clans saying:
During the recent revival of Imperial rule, Christianity has begun to spread again and is likely to do
great harm to the state. We cannot allow this to continue. Bring the leaders together and explain to
them the error of their ways. If they repent, destroy all Christian books and images and have them
swear alligience before the Shinto Kami. If they refuse to repent, we have no recourse other than to
behead a number of the leaders, expose the heads, and to exile the rest to enforced labor in other clans.
After a number of years, when they have lost every trace of their faith and when they have manifested
complete repentance, they may go home.[source

The Civil Rights Movement From The 1960 s
In today s world, people deal with the constant struggle of finding whose needs are more important.
Individuals, and individualism itself, claim to have their life be there s, and they can do whatever they
please, however, when people put society s needs before theirs, they are doing their good for society,
and everyone around them. Society s goal is to move the human population forward in a positive
direction, and to help everyone instead of just one person. In today s world, individuals must look at
society, and social needs to fulfill their own needs, giving the needs of society more of an importance
to all. When you compare the overall purpose of individual needs and. social needs, social needs are
there to fulfill the needs of all individuals. In society, when people are apart of a group, they feel a

makes a positive impact on others, society also gives a good holding ground of what people can and

The Bill Of Rights
A controversial topic that many protested for was, freedom of speech. After many years of wanting to
be heard, Americans finally achieved the assurance of having a voice. The Bill of Rights was passed
on December 15, 1791; commencing with the First Amendment. The First Amendments defends
freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly and petition. Stated in the U.S. Constitution, the First
Amendment declares Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech. Thus, meaning
that citizens cannot be imposed of civil liability from what they say or write with exceptions. Even
though freedom of speech recognizes many arguments, discussions, and expression, it will only be
valid through the qualifications the First Amendments states with the exceptions included. Highly
entrenched in the constitution, freedom of speech is one of the most treasured freedoms that has been
protected once achieved. Many back in the day, fought for this privilege that we now have. Back then,
they were not allowed to speak against the government with topics such as, unfair laws, taxation, etc.
With such privilege though, there had to be some clarifications. Freedom of speech does not imply
that there is a right to speak anywhere and at any time. There is a time and place for everything. Thus,
meaning that protestor can protest in areas that are neutral; being that they initially favor both sides.

Importance Of Guns And The Right To Carry Guns
Guns and the right to carry them is such a debatable topic in today s society. So many different people
have their opinions on how people should use their guns or where they can and can t carry them. They
have this misconception that guns are such a big problem and that they kill people, but in reality guns
are not the problem at all it is the people holding them. Even though guns can be dangerous, guns are
used for good more than bad. Getting a conceal carry permit is something that has very precise steps
to follow in order to obtain it. You are required to be at least 21 years of age. If for some reason you
are ineligible to purchase a firearm then you are no longer able to get the permit to conceal a handgun.
A person that has been convicted of a violent misdemeanor or drunkenness in the last three years will
be rejected if applied for a conceal carry permit. As you can see a lot goes into obtaining the permit to
be able to conceal a handgun. After a very thorough background check gets cleared for the applicant
the court may require proof that the applicant can demonstrate competence with a handgun. This
includes: completion of a firearm training course offered by the NRA, the state, or school (Virginia
Gun Laws). Also a lot more goes into it. Many choose to conceal carry instead of open carry for a
couple of different reasons. When you conceal a handgun nobody knows you have the gun. If a
criminal comes to rob a gas station that you are in and sees a handgun on your hip

Overpopulation Is A Problem Of Overpopulation
People Beget but Land Does Not
Too many people. Too little space. There are already seven and a half billion people walking on the
surfaces of the earth and is believed that there will be 9.6 billion people as of 2050, according to a UN
report. As time passes by, population is rapidly increasing and there will be less space for people to
reside in. Scientists say that this world cannot espouse many people on the next 50 years. This crisis is
fatal that can entirely obliterate the whole humankind. Overpopulation is a problem that every nation
is facing but sometimes over looked by due to lack of understanding and awareness. This is a serious
issue that should be taken care of immediately. Overpopulation is an undesirable situation where the
number of existing human populace surpasses the carrying capability of Earth. There are main factors
that are contributing overpopulation such as the rising birth rate and declining of mortality rate.
Overpopulation occurs when the birth rate surpasses the mortality rate. Birth rate is currently
increasing due unprotected and premarital sex. Every day, as estimated by UNICEF, there are 350,000
babies being born. That means 255 mothers are giving birth per minute or 4.3 babies are born per
second. While death rate is diminishing because of the technology that improved created better

The Hard Boiled Private Eye
The hard boiled private eye is a mysterious protagonist who is a professional investigator. With a first
look at Oedipus Rex in Sophocles Oedipus the King and Jake Gittes in Roman Polanski s Chinatown
they seem to be very different from each other. Jake Gittes is a busy detective that lets solving cases
consume his life and Odeipus Rex is a brand new King in the city of Thebes whose is cursed with a
fate that cannot be changed. After reading Oedipus the King and watching Chinatown, it s clear that
both stories share similar characteristics such as corruption, lies and even incest.
Oedipus the King is a tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles, that follows the story of
King Oedipus of Thebes as he discovers that he has unwittingly killed his own father, Laius, and
married his own mother, Jocasta. When Oedipus was a baby his parents were told by a prophet that the
baby would grow up to kill his father and marry his own mother. Oedipus mother and father sent him
away to be hanged by his ankles until death. Oedipus was later found and taken to a queen and king in
another kingdom where he would grow up thinking they were his real parents. When Oedipus get
older he gets told by a drunken man that he is a bastard child and this sends him on a mission to find
out the truth. Oedipus goes to the bind prophet for answers and after threating the prophet s life he
gets the full truth. Oedipus learns that he is destined to kill his father and marry his mother, so he

The Matrix Movie Analysis
Danny Warren
ANTH 2306
R11362526
Final Essay: Question 1
In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is an imaginary place
where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives. The movies The Matrix, 1999 and Avatar,
2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different aspects of
perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I m going to use the settings, actions, and outcomes of each
film.
The setting to me feels like the most important aspect of determining if a movie is a dystopia or not.
The Matrix takes places in a city called Zion, which is made up of many machines. The Matrix is a
computer program that humans are trapped in without knowing, and they assume they are just living a
regular life, but they are not. The real world they live in is being overrun by machines that are trying
to end all existence of human life. Humans do not live regular lives in this movie. Either they are
being brain washed through the matrix, or out fighting machines to save Zion, the world they live in.
According to the article, Dystopian Themes in Film, a dystopian usually consist of people in which
they live a dehumanized life. Dehumanization is the exact words I would use to describe the humans
that are depicted in this film. Humans are not even given a proper birth; they are manufactured in an
abnormal machine. In relation to the perspectives of the future, Neo wants to get the people out of
bondage, so they can see their reality and work towards making life better in the real word.
The movie Avatar takes place in a world that is inhabited by the Na vi called Pandora. Avatars are
human minds, transferred into the body of the Na vi species so that the humans are better equipped
when dealing with the world of Pandora. Humans infiltrate this land to take away this precious stone
that is locked away underground. To get to this stone they must take away the homeland of the natives
living there. The setting Pandora is a very mystical place and has many animals, or monsters, from a
human s perspective. It is such a foreign place that humans are slowly adjusting to better understand it.
The Matrix deals with the human setting of the dystopia, and

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)
Description of the issue/concern Participation in high intensity sporting activities is widely considered
to be a contributor to positive cardiac health. However, for a portion of the athletic population, sudden
cardiac arrest (SCA) poses a serious risk (Chatard, Mujika, Goiriena, Carre, 2016). Although
considered rare with estimates of one death every three days in the United States (Pigozzi, Rizzo,
Maffulli, 2009), the impact of the often fatal event resonates through society due to the young age of
the athlete and the immediacy of the decline of the perceived healthy person (Chatard et al., 2016).
SCA in athletes under the age of 35 years predominantly occurs when there is a malfunction of the
normal electrical conduction in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Amblyopia Research Paper
AAO
Amblyopia is a unilateral Of, less commonly, bilateral reduction of best corrected visual acuity that
cannot be attributed directly to the effect of any structural abnormality of the eye or the posterior
visual pathways. Amblyopia is caused by abnormal visual experience early in life resulting from one
of the following: strabismus anisometropia or high bilateral refractive errors (isometropia), stimulus
deprivation
Amblyopia is responsible for more unilaterally reduced vision of childhood onset than all other causes
combined, with a prevalence of 2% 4% in the North American population. This fact is particularly
distressing because, in principle, most amblyopic vision loss is preventable or reversible with timely

Force use of the poorer eye by limiting use of the better eye.
Cataract Removal
Cataracts capable of producing amblyopia require surgery without unnecessary delay. In young
children, amblyopia may develop as quickly as 1 week per age of life. Removal of Visually Significant
congenital lens opacities during the first 4 6 weeks of life is necessary for optimal recovery of vision.
In symmetric bilateral cases, the interval between operations on the first and second eyes should be no
more than 1 2 weeks. Acutely developing severe traumatic cataracts in children younger than 6 years
should be removed within a few weeks of injury, if possible.
Refractive Correction
In general, optical prescription for amblyopic eyes should be based on the refractive error as
determined with cycloplegia. Because an amblyopic eye s ability to control accommodation tends to
be impaired, this eye cannot be relied on to compensate for uncorrected hyperopia as would a normal
child s eye. Refractive correction for aphakia following cataract surgery in childhood must be
provided promptly to avoid compounding the visual deprivation effect of the lens opacity with that of
a severe optical deficit. Both anisometropic and ametropic amblyopia may improve or resolve with
refractive correction alone over several

Samuel Ibn Nagrila Essay
The conquest of Muslims in the Iberian Peninsula created a relatively high degree of tolerance that
existed amongst the groups because people had the opportunity to rise in power, for example Jews.
The Jews played a significant role in their community and politics and most importantly they had the
opportunity to rise in social statues. Samuel Ibn Nagrila is a good example on how the Jews played a
big rule in the Islamic community because Samuel Ibn Nagrila succeeded, as his employers had
hoped, in bring his Umayyad Cordoba refinements to this backwater, and he quickly became Vizier, or

Framing Effect In Frankenstein
Framing effect is the concept in psychology that the way information is presented influences how the
audience feels about the information and can affect the judgments the audience makes about the
information (July 2011. Web. 17 May 2016. .) First we have Walton talking to his sister. Then we have
Victor telling Walton the story. In middle of the story we have the monster telling his part of the story
to Victor, and then Victor telling the monster s story to Walton. Discussing the framing and how it
contributes to the ghost story contributes to the theme that Mary Shelley was going for in the novel.
To begin with, the three main characters that are involved with the framing of the story are Victor
Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and The Monster. Victor was the creator of the monster. He tried playing
God,but it backfired. Throughout the framing he speaks of his story to Walton, making you visualize
as if you were there. I do not know that the relation of my disasters will be useful to you; yet, when I

Pole and even though he has his crew, he still has the lonely feeling of not the having a friend figure.
But, as soon as meeting Victor he has the friend figure. Yet, it then resolves into the storytelling of the

Preventing Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections Zaahira Sidq Drexel University Preventing
Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections Urinary tract infections are one of the most hospital

Negative Aspects Of Masculinity
Gone are the days of masculinity being a mountain man or a cutthroat businessman, society is no
longer the 1800s or an episode of MadMen. Currently, some of society s expectations of masculinity
(as defined by experts) are a desire to win, need for emotional control, dominance (including that over
women), violence, sexual promiscuity, and a pursuit of status. However masculinity can also be
something that is positive. Like a steady rock to build emotional support upon, a stoic person can be
an excellent resource. This can be like the person that hides their emotion in order to better others that
need a push forward when their emotions get the better of them. This is where masculine ideals can be
a double edged sword because these traits can be beneficial in some manners but it can also have some
detriments that occur consequently. It is not that men are not masculine; it is that masculinity does not
represent men anymore. Because of the negative side effects of men exhibiting masculine traits they
should no longer be expected to adhere to all of these traditional ideals.
The traits that are normally associated with masculinity are ones that can be detrimental to the mental
health of the people who have these traits. For example in an analysis of seventy eight different
studies, researchers at the University of Indiana Bloomington found that men who exhibited masculine
traits were more likely to have mental health issues such as depression. The same men were also less
likely to seek help when it came to their mental health issues. The traits that were most commonly
associated with the negative mental health were being self reliant, sexual promiscuity, and having
dominance or power over women. Expecting someone to be stoic and only depending on themselves
means they will be less likely to go and seek psychological help as they would feel that they need to
be able to solve their problems themselves. This societal pressure upon men to be dominating and
stoic is not good for their mental health. So the pressure should be lessened or removed to the point
where men are no longer expected to have these traits as the other option leads to depression that goes
untreated. This meta analysis, headed by Associate

The Definition of Success and How to Be Successful

who would disagree, instead viewing materials as a measurement of success. Since when did success

No Child Left Behind Act Pros And Cons
The No Child Left Behind Act is a revision of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
of 1965, which provided federal aid to schools with large populations of low income students (Hudson
7). The original purpose of the No Child Left Behind Act was to close the achievement gap between
students and ensure all teachers and principals are highly qualified. The difference between ESEA and
the No Child Left Behind Act is the ESEA abstained from tying funding to achievement. The No
Child Left Behind Act has negatively affected the education of children in America by cutting the pay

Ironically, the No Child Left Behind Act was meant to help poverty stricken children the most, but
despite the ideology that schools should be held accountable for unequal academic progress, children
who attend inner city schools with the highest poverty rates must still overcome the second rate
education they receive in overcrowded classrooms in school facilities that are badly in need of repair
(Hollingworth). The No child Left Behind Act fails to take into consideration the real world
application of socioeconomic differences in the United States. Students located in high poverty areas
are still responsible for attaining the same level of proficiency the NCLB requires despite the
differences the children experience. Even though there are students that have a cognitive disability,

Emily Dickinson I Heard A Fly Buzz
Emily Dickinson and W. H. Auden are authors who use observation to find deeper meanings secretly
laced through simple images. Using imagery and formal language to describe the surroundings of the

but to look past the visuals and find the real truths behind the works. In the Emily Dickinson s poems,
After great pain, a formal feeling comes, I heard a Fly buzz when I died , and the W. H. Auden poem

The Great Playwright s Life Story
Before the relatively short life of Lorraine Hansberry tragically ended, the African American
playwright distinguished herself in American theatre and literature as she creatively and unknowingly
challenged the views of African American life, among other inescapable issues of the nation and the
world, on the theatrical stage. The great playwright s life story began on May 19, 1930. Although born
during a time of hardship introduced by the Great Depression, Hansberry grew up rather comfortably
in a middle class African American family from the Southside of Chicago ( Lorraine ). Her father, Carl
Augustus Hansberry, not only established Lake Street Bank, one of the first Chicago banks to solicit
black patronage, but also established himself as a successful real estate businessman (Jacobus,
Lorraine 1223). Despite the middle class status, the family experienced racial tension, especially when
the family bought and moved into a home in a racially restricted covenant which later resulted in the
Hansberry vs. Lee U.S. Supreme Court case that influenced Hansberry s writing ( Lorraine ). After
graduating Englewood High School in Chicago in 1948, Lorraine Hansberry left for college to pursue
her interest in visual art ( Lorraine ). She attended the University of Wisconsin, the Art Institute of
Chicago, and numerous other schools before moving to New York in 1950 (Jacobus, Lorraine 1223).

How to Promote a Website through Social Media
Connection. This has constantly been the name of the game, especially in business. Companies who
neglect promotion do not last. They stop becoming relevant and their companies rot slowly, their
clients moving to other companies, the owners losing life, losing passion.
History has proven that smaller nations survived because of pacts and great nations have remained
solid and sturdy because of concrete connections with other nations.
The growth of social media has been the make or break of today s companies. The number of virtual
assistants increased and continues to increase because of the demand to keep up with the social trends
and stay pertinent against competitors. We base efficiency on the amount of website traffic we
generate and the response to the content we provide.
What steps do we take to take advantage from the social media platform? (REPHRASE)
1. Be a spy It is a human need to interact with other humans. The number of threads in the internet is a
proof of this. You ll see threads on almost about anything; from pets to food, to conspiracy theories.
The point is, public pulse has never been more available. You do not need to scatter survey forms on
the street and harass people to answer them. The talk of the town will reach virtual space. Listen to
what the people are saying. Listen to what your promoters are offering. Then, strategize a plan to
execute.
2. Make catchy, persuasive content Promotion is like fishing. You need the right bait for the right fish.

Service Learning Should NOT be Mandatory For College...
Service learning is the name for forcing college students to do volunteer work as part of their college
careers. The hope is that this volunteer work will give students a better sense of civic duty, and thus,
be a worthy addition to college curriculums. However, this idea relies on the faulty premise that if one
is forced to volunteer that one will derive the same benefits as someone who does it out of their own
desire to help. Mandatory service learning will not have the desired effect, and should not be forced
upon students.
It is perhaps intuitive to think that by making students help others there will be a net positive; there
could be no downside to volunteering time and effort to help the community. However, a more

However, to a company their time is money. If a company is forced to give its time and resources to
volunteer, it might as well give money instead. That money, in the form of taxes, is already paid by
both companies and individuals to the government. That money, in turn, should be used to help
communities when needed. If communities need extra help, the answer is increasing taxes to provide
that extra help. Forcing college students to provide that help directly ignores the efficiencies gained
from specialization. A college student, who isn t even studying whatever field is needed, would be
able to help more by working in their actual field for money, and then giving that money to a
specialist, via the government, to provide the direct help. The only problem with that arrangement is
that it doesn t provide the positive feelings that directly helping would. However, gaining a positive
sense of accomplishment at the expense of providing less efficient help is a purely selfish motivation.
In the case of labor being needed that almost anyone could do, there is an even greater gain in having
the public at large finance the work instead of doing it directly. Instead of having a college student
learn about basic construction, which he will likely never use again in his career, wouldn t it make
more sense to pay someone local to the community to do the work instead? That way, not only is the
work done, but

Being In Foraging Societies
Being in a foraging society had some advantages and disadvantages and being in an urbanized society
also had some advantages and disadvantages Foraging societies of the paleolithic age are made up of
many social economical and political structures, as well as urbanized societies. Foraging societies
relied on the weather greatly.they had to go out and look for their own food and that was a great
disadvantage due to the fact that if the weather was bad they couldn t go out and look for food. in
foraging societies they migrated to many different places in search of better living and goods or they
wouldn t survive. They relied primarily on nature In harsher environments, such as grasslands and
semi deserts, the foraging way of life is not possible.

Summary Of It Middle Childhood Application Essay
FSHS 110 A Child Called It Middle Childhood Application Dave Pelzer s life started out as many
children s lives do. He was surrounded by a mother and father who loved him and would do anything
for him. He recalls himself as well as his two brothers being blessed with perfect parents who filled
the family with love and care (Pelzer 17). His father, Stephen, supported the family and worked as a
fireman in San Francisco, while his mother, Catherine, was a woman who glowed with love for her
children and family (Pelzer 18). In the summer, the family would go on a vacation often times to
Portola or Memorial Park, where they would camp in a large tent for a week. One time, they even
went to Johnson s Beach, where the adventures were endless. In this time, Dave learned how to swim
on his back and his mother was so proud of him for it. Every day was sprinkled with magic, especially
as Dave s mother came and gave him a hug from behind. In this time, he had never felt as safe and as
warm as he had at that moment, not knowing that things were soon to change in the most drastic way
(Pelzer 26). Catherine went from a loving mother to a nightmare while Stephen went from a protective
father, to a coward. Dave became the subject of child abuse, which had an impact on his childhood
development explained in by three well known theorists, Bronfenbrenner, Piaget, and Kohlberg. (Need
citation from text book) (According to Bronfenbrenner, there are five levels of the environment that

Batman Hero
Heroic
For decades, I have been obsessed with Batman. There I said it! In the 60 s I watched everyday, at the
same Bat time on the same Bat channel the Caped Crusader [Adam West] give The Joker and other
villains their due justice.
Since 2000 we ve had 25 superhero movies from Marvel and DC. There are 19 more Marvel and DC
movies confirmed and 3 unconfirmed movies due between 2017 to 2020. DC Comics has six
televisions show on that have been airing since 2012 with nine currently in development. Since 2013,
Marvel Comics has two shows on ABC, six on Netflix, with three waiting to be picked up by Netflix.
They also currently have seven shows in development.

Well, we all have a deep desire to break free of our limits and live a bold and meaningful life. Heroes
have the ability to rise above their fears and limitations to achieve something inconceivable,
something exceptional, something bold! Count me. That s what I want on my tombstone. She was
exceptional, animated, fearless and bold until the day she died.
Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man ... and all the other beloved heroes embody the best we see
in ourselves. They inspire us. They each have a human side that struggles with the same day to day
obstacles and events we struggle with. From work to love. We watch those events unfold and we see
them cope, fail and win as a human.
Then [drum roll] out of the blue, or as scripted by the writer, an emergency strikes, and they step up.
Even stepping up as a superhuman we watch as they attempt to tackle the problem. Many times, if not
always, failing on their first attempt. What makes them a Superhero, more then even their
superpowers, is their ability to believe in themselves, and continue to fight the fight. Face their fear,
and overcome their battles.
This is something any one of us can learn to do. And must learn to do to if we plan on achieving our
goals and

Essay about Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Milton’s Satan of...
Shakespeare s Macbeth and Milton s Satan of Paradise Lost bear many similarities to each other. Both
characters possess diabolical ambitions to overthrow the natural order of their circumstances for the
lust for power. Both committed atrocious acts that led to others downfalls Macbeth committed
multiple acts of murder, and Satan vowed to corrupt humankind and did so with deceit. Both are
portrayed as complex characters with, in some cases, conflicted feelings about their evil doings. Aside
from these similarities, there are significant differences as well. For one thing, the incitation of both
characters evil doings differ. Macbeth, it could be argued, is a victim of fate, whereas Satan is
portrayed in Paradise Lost as very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Satan s fall can be easily broken up into four steps: he came to think of himself too highly, putting
himself equal to God; he made a following for himself; he plotted a rebellion with his fellow rebel
angels; and he attempted to carry out the rebellion. His attempt to overthrow God and obtain power
was, however, futile and easily thwarted. Satan was severely demoted and he spent the rest of the plot
trying to pervert every good thing as if it would be to any avail to do so. He attempted to exert his own
powers over creation and tried to get a foothold so that he could gain more power. His extreme
arrogance led to his fall from grace. This is the same willfulness which lies behind his rebellious claim
in heaven that he is self begot ...What Satan the general refuses to give up here...is...individual glory,
which he pursues at all costs. (Loewenstein, 56 57). Considering that Satan was an angel in the
presence of God at the beginning, he had no excuse such as ignorance to claim. Satan s rebellion
began within himself with little else to prompt him. Satan had the ambition to raise a rebel force, but
army or no army, he surely would have thought himself more powerful than he ought have. His pride
also got in the way of him ever being restored to his former position. As part of his task of exculpating
God...Satan explains that even if he could repent and get back to heaven by act of grace , it would do

Cabaret Critique
Cabaret is a musical that takes place in Berlin, Germany 1929. Berlin was a place where artists,
musicians and other fine arts activities were enjoyable. This story is about a group of individuals from
diverse backgrounds and countries that their lives cross paths. It all starts with an American writer
named Cliff who goes to visit the city of Berlin to write a book. While on the way to Berlin he meets a
man by the name Fraulein who is a salesperson. He talks to Cliff about how beautiful Berlin is and the
places to go and see. Once there they meet several people such as Sally, Herr, Ernst, Rosie, Texas and
many other members of the Kit Kat Klub Cabaret. Living at Berlin he begins to fall in love with Sally
who is from England that came to Berlin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acting was awesome I really saw the actors get into their parts. The actors had moments of emotion
portraying the characters personality in the story. The whole musical was very entertaining I watched
both acts, found it to have different points of view on how the time in Berlin was for Cliff and Sally.
How the Germans and Jew might have been like before World War II. It also showed how it was like
to be an individual away from home and not knowing what would happen next. Cliff reminded me of
how I would like to travel and meet people for inspiration even if there were differences about how
they saw their lives. One of the character that got my attention was Sally she was very funny, serious
and had Cliff worried for some reason she had a natural flow of just being herself. The other two
characters I really liked was Herr and Fraulein Story it shows how these two were very good friends
and slowly started dating and then got married. One was a Jew and the other a German to me it
expressed that people did not see it as a bad thing to be with someone who is not from the same
background or culture. Even through times that they could not be together they managed to be

Book Review- One Crazy Summer
Book Review One Crazy Summer The genre historical fiction focuses young readers to inform them
about historical and significant cultural events in history, but to do in a way that is comfortable for
readers in this age group. One Crazy Summer is a good example of young adult literature of
highlighting cultural/historical events and entertaining to its audience. Two characteristics that make
this a great novel for middle school readers is that 1 It encourages further inquiry( historical) and 2
The situations and characters are relatable (Y/A novel).
The story is set in 1968 in Oakland, California three young girls Delphine, Vonetta, and Fern who
leave their father in Brooklyn to go Oakland to meet their mother who abandoned them. Oakland at
this time is a boiling pot with political and racial turmoil, with the Black Panthers at the head of a
movement fighting for civil rights. In a historical context many readers at this age level have not been
exposed to the many freedom fighter organizations like The Black Panthers, middle school students
are usually only exposed to a limited number of figures in the civil rights movement like Martin
Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. In One Crazy Summer, the racial and social tones are very accurate
for the time, this is something that also resembles in today s society since race relations have
improved but as still has a long way to go. This story gives a nice glimpse of the societal issues of the
time with the mention of rioting in

During my research, I installed a greenhouse gas analyzer to a weather tower to determine local
sources of methane and carbon dioxide. I used data from this instrument and other instruments such as
a sonic anemometer to find results from the experiment. During the data analysis process I became
more experienced with Python and Microsoft Excel by formulating plots and graphics. I was able to
overcome many challenges by asking my advisors and peers for help. The help my advisors and peers
provided throughout my research was a key to the success in my research. The overall success from
my research allowed me to present my work at Washington State University s 2016 research poster

  • 2. Peter The Great Religion Summary Religion: In 1709 Peter the Great rallied the country, evicted the invaders from the north and established his frontiers on the shores of the Baltic and the Gulf of Finland. Here on the swamp he had in 1703 begun construction of a new capital, St. Petersburg. The communist party, the repository of ultimate power in the Soviet Union, is not a party at all in the Western sense. It is not a mass political organization, with many voting adherents and relatively few active members, but a small, highly select band of men and women who rule the country with great power. • 3. The Case Of William Marbury Deserved The Commission Or Not This case was a case for the ages that challenged the very decision of our newly elected president. The former President Adam after a grueling election has lost and in order to maintain the legacy of the Federalist, he began to appoint justices to the Supreme Court. These judges were appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate, but unfortunately for these justices, the letters that confirmed the appointment never reached the potential justices. Adams was working quickly to push the appointments through, but unfortunately he ran out of time and Jefferson took office. Jefferson saw the appointment letters on his desk and discarded them. One of the potential justices was William Marbury and he sued the president for his Supreme Court appointment. His goal was to have the court to order a writ of mandamus, which if completed, would order a government official to fulfil their official duties. The Chief justice presented three questions that needed to be decided by the court. The first issue addressed was whether William Marbury deserved the commission or not. The court opened the questioned if the law had a remedy for the situation. The final question was whether the writ of mandamus the appropriate legal action in the case. These questions were debated and the court confirmed that Marbury deserved the commission, but they found that the Judiciary Act of 1789 which allowed the court to submit the very writ of mandamus Marbury needed was unconstitutional. For the system, which should never be failed, the reliability test of the software should be done. For this, the black box and white box testing should be done on the software. After the successful development of the software, a beta version should be released. The errors and bugs related to the security and functional requirements can be find out in an easy manner. Conclusion For the given project, project manager plays very important role. He/she will decide role of each team member, team size, etc. The selection of development model is also done by him. • 9. Treatment of Religion and the Church in Pedro Paramo and... Christianity has become, in over two millennia, the world s largest religion, spreading to almost every corner of the world. Based on this fact, it does not come as much of a surprise that Juan Rulfo s 1955 Mexican novel, Pedro Paramo, and Robertson Davies 1970 Canadian one, Fifth Business, are both largely affected by this pervasive religion. What is interesting, however, is that despite the vast differences in culture and time, a comparison can be made of the authors treatment of Christianity and the church in the books, which both come to similar conclusions. The first major similarity in the books on this particular subject is that both Rulfo and Davies show Christianity and the church as being flawed. Father Renteria, the local ... Dempster as well as his family s and church s failure to understand his interests in saints and magic that force him to realize one flaw of the Christian religion: its inability to capture the entire feeling of spirituality. One of the major faults that Rulfo portrays of the Church in Pedro Paramo, is that it fails in its main responsibility of providing moral standards to the people of Comala. The novel illustrates characters that have sinned more than any other, yet show little or no guilt. Rulfo s book contains a careful listing of the cruelties that the Paramos inflicted on the people of Comala: Rumor has it that your brother was murdered by [Miguel Paramo] and you believe that your niece Ana was raped by him. 6, Pedro Paramo slaughtered so many folks after his father was murdered that he killed nearly everybody who attended that wedding. 7 However, despite these crimes, neither Miguel nor Pedro seems to feel any remorse for their actions. After listening to a number of women confess to having sinned for either sleeping with Pedro Paramo, or bearing his children, Father Renteria says, I kept waiting for him to come and confess something, but he never did. 8 Renteria also refuses to absolve Miguel at first, saying, [he] died without forgiveness. 9 Similarly, in Fifth Business, the character ... While this rebellion is going on, presidential elections are taking place and Salvador Allende is the presidential candidate which represents the common people. The relation between Allende and the people he represents is a unique one because at first this class, the working class, helps and supports Allende to become president, but then both parties realize their different plans for the future and the working class actually contributes to the downfall of Allende s presidency. Once Allende becomes elected, the two revolutions which were supposed to compliment each other actually start to work against each other. The first type of revolution is the revolution from below , which is characteristic of the workers in the Yarur rebelling against the Chilean government. The other type is the revolution from above , this was the revolution common of the higher class like Allende working towards workers rights. At first, the workers think that their revolution from below was only helping Allende s revolution from above. The workers did things like form unions for the first time, or were even so bold to strike against the mill in order to gain complete control over it. Strikes had happened before which were about things like wages or unions, but this was different for the fact that they wanted total control of the mill. Allende was forced to give the workers the power to control the mill. This is just one of the examples of how the revolution from below sometimes coincided with or complemented, but increasingly diverged from, the legalistic and modulated revolution from above (141). For the most part in fact, the strategies of Allende were disrupted by the revolution from below because of their need for extreme immediate progress. This was frustrating for Allende and his cabinet because they were constantly at the demand of the working class they falsely claimed to know and represent. In the second chapter of the book, a lot of his personality is revealed, from when a small child opens the door to give him a letter, to when he decides he must leave to meet his family again. In order to develop the character of Stephen Kumalo, Paton uses simile, imagery, repetition and metaphor to explain his interactions with people, and how he reacts under certain conditions. Paton uses repetition of the same question to show how Kumalo can be reluctant to face the facts about his child, who lives in Johannesburg, and not being able to see him for a long time, which in turn implies his anger. During his frustration for his family, his naivety is hinted at, when he thinks that his child is going to come back or write a letter for him to use the money to go to St Chad s, when it is highly unlikely something such as that would happen. When he realises that he needs to go to Johannesburg to visit his sick sister, the author uses metaphor to show how hurt and sensitive he is. The doors, representing the fact that he must leave the tribe and go somewhere else, is something that he does not want to pass through, therefore he blames it on his wife. The Bill of Rights was passed on December 15, 1791; commencing with the First Amendment. The First Amendments defends freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly and petition. Stated in the U.S. Constitution, the First Amendment declares Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech. Thus, meaning that citizens cannot be imposed of civil liability from what they say or write with exceptions. Highly entrenched in the constitution, freedom of speech is one of the most treasured freedoms that has been protected once achieved. Many back in the day, fought for this privilege that we now have. Back then, they were not allowed to speak against the government with topics such as, unfair laws, taxation, etc. With such privilege though, there had to be some clarifications. • 19. Importance Of Guns And The Right To Carry Guns Guns and the right to carry them is such a debatable topic in today s society. So many different people have their opinions on how people should use their guns or where they can and can t carry them. They have this misconception that guns are such a big problem and that they kill people, but in reality guns are not the problem at all it is the people holding them. Even though guns can be dangerous, guns are used for good more than bad. Getting a conceal carry permit is something that has very precise steps to follow in order to obtain it. You are required to be at least 21 years of age. If for some reason you are ineligible to purchase a firearm then you are no longer able to get the permit to conceal a handgun. A person that has been convicted of a violent misdemeanor or drunkenness in the last three years will be rejected if applied for a conceal carry permit. As you can see a lot goes into obtaining the permit to be able to conceal a handgun. After a very thorough background check gets cleared for the applicant the court may require proof that the applicant can demonstrate competence with a handgun. This includes: completion of a firearm training course offered by the NRA, the state, or school (Virginia Gun Laws). Also a lot more goes into it. Many choose to conceal carry instead of open carry for a couple of different reasons. When you conceal a handgun nobody knows you have the gun. If a criminal comes to rob a gas station that you are in and sees a handgun on your hip ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Matrix Movie Analysis Danny Warren ANTH 2306 R11362526 Final Essay: Question 1 In contrast to a utopia, according to the power point provided in class a dystopia is an imaginary place where people live dehumanized and often fearful lives. The movies The Matrix, 1999 and Avatar, 2009 overall seem to me as dystopian films. To show how each film portrays the different aspects of perspectives on the future, and a dystopia, I m going to use the settings, actions, and outcomes of each film. The setting to me feels like the most important aspect of determining if a movie is a dystopia or not. The Matrix takes places in a city called Zion, which is made up of many machines. The Matrix is a computer program that humans are trapped in without knowing, and they assume they are just living a regular life, but they are not. The real world they live in is being overrun by machines that are trying to end all existence of human life. Humans do not live regular lives in this movie. Either they are being brain washed through the matrix, or out fighting machines to save Zion, the world they live in. According to the article, Dystopian Themes in Film, a dystopian usually consist of people in which they live a dehumanized life. Dehumanization is the exact words I would use to describe the humans that are depicted in this film. Humans are not even given a proper birth; they are manufactured in an abnormal machine. In relation to the perspectives of the future, Neo wants to get the people out of bondage, so they can see their reality and work towards making life better in the real word. The movie Avatar takes place in a world that is inhabited by the Na vi called Pandora. Avatars are human minds, transferred into the body of the Na vi species so that the humans are better equipped when dealing with the world of Pandora. Humans infiltrate this land to take away this precious stone that is locked away underground. To get to this stone they must take away the homeland of the natives living there. • 33. Negative Aspects Of Masculinity Gone are the days of masculinity being a mountain man or a cutthroat businessman, society is no longer the 1800s or an episode of MadMen. Currently, some of society s expectations of masculinity (as defined by experts) are a desire to win, need for emotional control, dominance (including that over women), violence, sexual promiscuity, and a pursuit of status. However masculinity can also be something that is positive. Like a steady rock to build emotional support upon, a stoic person can be an excellent resource. This can be like the person that hides their emotion in order to better others that need a push forward when their emotions get the better of them. This is where masculine ideals can be a double edged sword because these traits can be beneficial in some manners but it can also have some detriments that occur consequently. It is not that men are not masculine; it is that masculinity does not represent men anymore. Because of the negative side effects of men exhibiting masculine traits they should no longer be expected to adhere to all of these traditional ideals. The traits that are normally associated with masculinity are ones that can be detrimental to the mental health of the people who have these traits. For example in an analysis of seventy eight different studies, researchers at the University of Indiana Bloomington found that men who exhibited masculine traits were more likely to have mental health issues such as depression. The same men were also less likely to seek help when it came to their mental health issues. The traits that were most commonly associated with the negative mental health were being self reliant, sexual promiscuity, and having dominance or power over women. Expecting someone to be stoic and only depending on themselves means they will be less likely to go and seek psychological help as they would feel that they need to be able to solve their problems themselves. This societal pressure upon men to be dominating and stoic is not good for their mental health. So the pressure should be lessened or removed to the point where men are no longer expected to have these traits as the other option leads to depression that goes untreated. The United States held two sections on the beach code named Omaha Beach, and Utah Beach, while Great Britain, France, and Canada the other three sections of the beach. These beaches code names were Gold Beach, Juno Beach, and Sword Beach (Groff, 294). Many French, British, Canadian, and American soldiers died before even reach the beaches of Normandy. German machine guns and artillery were mowing down allied soldiers, many generals died in the landing so lower ranking official such as privates had to step up just to rally the soldiers together for an advance to the shores (Capa, 294). Any kind of artillery fire fired by the allies during the invasion did not hit and was very unsuccessful in the invasion because it was really foggy and wanted to be cautious and not fire upon any of their own men which resulted in the artillery not helping at all during the invasion. Another setback for the invasion was the strong ocean tides. The strong tides of the Atlantic Ocean pushed the Allied landing boats and supply ships far off course from there landing point (Gibbs, 20). • 41. Service Learning Should NOT be Mandatory For College... Service learning is the name for forcing college students to do volunteer work as part of their college careers. The hope is that this volunteer work will give students a better sense of civic duty, and thus, be a worthy addition to college curriculums. However, this idea relies on the faulty premise that if one is forced to volunteer that one will derive the same benefits as someone who does it out of their own desire to help. Mandatory service learning will not have the desired effect, and should not be forced upon students. It is perhaps intuitive to think that by making students help others there will be a net positive; there could be no downside to volunteering time and effort to help the community. However, a more detailed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, to a company their time is money. If a company is forced to give its time and resources to volunteer, it might as well give money instead. That money, in the form of taxes, is already paid by both companies and individuals to the government. That money, in turn, should be used to help communities when needed. If communities need extra help, the answer is increasing taxes to provide that extra help. Forcing college students to provide that help directly ignores the efficiencies gained from specialization. A college student, who isn t even studying whatever field is needed, would be able to help more by working in their actual field for money, and then giving that money to a specialist, via the government, to provide the direct help. The only problem with that arrangement is that it doesn t provide the positive feelings that directly helping would. However, gaining a positive sense of accomplishment at the expense of providing less efficient help is a purely selfish motivation. In the case of labor being needed that almost anyone could do, there is an even greater gain in having the public at large finance the work instead of doing it directly. Instead of having a college student learn about basic construction, which he will likely never use again in his career, wouldn t it make more sense to pay someone local to the community to do the work instead? That way, not only is the work done, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Essay about Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Milton’s Satan of... Shakespeare s Macbeth and Milton s Satan of Paradise Lost bear many similarities to each other. Both characters possess diabolical ambitions to overthrow the natural order of their circumstances for the lust for power. Both committed atrocious acts that led to others downfalls Macbeth committed multiple acts of murder, and Satan vowed to corrupt humankind and did so with deceit. Both are portrayed as complex characters with, in some cases, conflicted feelings about their evil doings. Aside from these similarities, there are significant differences as well. For one thing, the incitation of both characters evil doings differ. Macbeth, it could be argued, is a victim of fate, whereas Satan is portrayed in Paradise Lost as very ... His attempt to overthrow God and obtain power was, however, futile and easily thwarted. Satan was severely demoted and he spent the rest of the plot trying to pervert every good thing as if it would be to any avail to do so. He attempted to exert his own powers over creation and tried to get a foothold so that he could gain more power. His extreme arrogance led to his fall from grace. Acting was awesome I really saw the actors get into their parts. The actors had moments of emotion portraying the characters personality in the story. The whole musical was very entertaining I watched both acts, found it to have different points of view on how the time in Berlin was for Cliff and Sally. How the Germans and Jew might have been like before World War II. It also showed how it was like to be an individual away from home and not knowing what would happen next. Cliff reminded me of how I would like to travel and meet people for inspiration even if there were differences about how they saw their lives. One of the character that got my attention was Sally she was very funny, serious and had Cliff worried for some reason she had a natural flow of just being herself. The other two characters I really liked was Herr and Fraulein Story it shows how these two were very good friends and slowly started dating and then got married. • 47. Book Review- One Crazy Summer Book Review One Crazy Summer The genre historical fiction focuses young readers to inform them about historical and significant cultural events in history, but to do in a way that is comfortable for readers in this age group. One Crazy Summer is a good example of young adult literature of highlighting cultural/historical events and entertaining to its audience. Two characteristics that make this a great novel for middle school readers is that 1 It encourages further inquiry( historical) and 2 The situations and characters are relatable (Y/A novel). The story is set in 1968 in Oakland, California three young girls Delphine, Vonetta, and Fern who leave their father in Brooklyn to go Oakland to meet their mother who abandoned them. Oakland at this time is a boiling pot with political and racial turmoil, with the Black Panthers at the head of a movement fighting for civil rights. In a historical context many readers at this age level have not been exposed to the many freedom fighter organizations like The Black Panthers, middle school students are usually only exposed to a limited number of figures in the civil rights movement like Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. In One Crazy Summer, the racial and social tones are very accurate for the time, this is something that also resembles in today s society since race relations have improved but as still has a long way to go. This story gives a nice glimpse of the societal issues of the time with the mention of rioting in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
