How you feel when you wake up says a lot about the night you had and the day to come. Sleep plays an important role in our physical and mental health. Some of the benefits of sleep revealed by recent researches is mentioned here.
Sleep plays a vital role as adolescents develop and go through the maturation process.
Adolescence is a time of increased responsibility, peer pressure and busy schedules.
As a result……
SLEEP, a vital component of your life,
is often compromised.

memory can decline to some extent as we get older, but there are other more important lifestyle factors that can either give you a sharp mind or one that’s slow as molasses. And if you don’t have these areas of your life optimized, you may experience cognitive decline even before your reach thirty.
No one likes feeling sleepy. But the consequences may be much worse than you thought. Here are some surprising things about sleep and a few small habits that can make a huge difference.
This presentation looks at the research behind cognitive decline, and suggests ways in which you might change or reverse changes brought out by aging or lifestyle.
New Studies on Benefits of Regular Sleep - Happiness, Calmness, EnergyNutrition Breakthroughs
More and more research is being done that connects the benefits of good sleep to greater well-being, lower disease rates, more happiness, sharper mental capabilities and less fatigue
If you have not been getting enough sleep for a while now and have been wondering why you have been piling on the pounds, this could be a wake-up call for you to finally change your sleeping habits in order to budge the weighing scale. Get yourself on a regular sleep schedule and maintain a uniform sleep routine...
New research suggests that sleep plays a pivotal role in your brain's ability to learn new information. Learn first, then get a good night's sleep in order to encourage learning and memory retention. One of the major explanations for why we sleep is known as the information consolidation theory, which suggests that one of the primary functions of sleep is to process information that has been acquired and stored throughout the day.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HEALTHCARE.pdfAnujkumaranit
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. It encompasses tasks such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, perception, and language understanding. AI technologies are revolutionizing various fields, from healthcare to finance, by enabling machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence.

The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system
It is a walnut-sized gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum and just below the urinary bladder
Function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly alkaline fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid that along with the spermatozoa, constitutes semen
A healthy human prostate measures (4cm-vertical, by 3cm-horizontal, 2cm ant-post ).
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It has anterior, median, posterior and two lateral lobes
It’s work is regulated by androgens which are responsible for male sex characteristics
Generalised disease of the prostate due to hormonal derangement which leads to non malignant enlargement of the gland (increase in the number of epithelial cells and stromal tissue)to cause compression of the urethra leading to symptoms (LUTS

These lecture slides, by Dr Sidra Arshad, offer a quick overview of physiological basis of a normal electrocardiogram.
Learning objectives:
1. Define an electrocardiogram (ECG) and electrocardiography
2. Describe how dipoles generated by the heart produce the waveforms of the ECG
3. Describe the components of a normal electrocardiogram of a typical bipolar leads (limb II)
4. Differentiate between intervals and segments
5. Enlist some common indications for obtaining an ECG

RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.
2. Sleep plays a critical role in immune function,
metabolism, memory, learning, and other vital
functions.
How you feel when you wake up says a lot about
the night you had and the day to come.
3. Proper sleep improves memory. Sleep helps the
brain to commit new information to memory. In
addition to consolidating memories, or making them
stronger, brain appears to reorganize and restructure
them, which may result in more creativity as well.
Too much or too little sleep is associated with a
shorter lifespan.
4. The researchers suggests getting plenty of sleep
might prevent weight gain.
Research indicates that people who get less sleep -six or fewer hours a night -- have higher blood levels
of inflammatory proteins than those who get more.
These inflammatory proteins are linked to heart
disease, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, and premature
aging.
5. A Stanford University study found that football
players who tried to sleep at least 10 hours a night
for seven to eight weeks improved their average
sprint time and had less daytime fatigue and more
stamina.
College students who don't get enough sleep have
worse grades than those who do, researches
reveals.
6. A 2009 study found that children ages seven and
eight who got less than eight hours of sleep a night
were more likely to be hyperactive, inattentive, and
impulsive.
Researchers at the University of Chicago found that
dieters who were well rested lost more fat -- 56
percent of their weight loss -- than those who were
sleep deprived, who lost more muscle mass.
7. Sleep can reduce levels of stress, and with that
people can have better control of their blood
pressure. It's also believed that sleep effects
cholesterol levels, which plays a significant role in
heart disease.
Sleeplessness affects reaction time and decision
making. Insufficient sleep for just one night can be
as detrimental to your driving ability as having an
alcoholic drink.
8. Lack of sleep can contribute to depression. A good
night's sleep can really help a moody person
decrease their anxiety. You get more emotional
stability with good sleep.
Researchers have found that getting good sleep can
supplement medication for pain.
9. People who got seven hours of sleep a night or less
were almost three times as likely to get sick as the
people who got at least eight hours of sleep a night.
