The Company
Our FTSE Client has 14+ million customers and generates £100’s million revenues. They have
created a new venture to develop new sources of value, developing new opportunities that
excite and engage customers by meeting the current and future needs and repositioning
their business and services for the future. This new team will be responsible for trying to do
things in a new way by taking a more entrepreneurial, agile, start up approach.
Building from the platform of this award winning product this role will lead and optimise the
development and management of products for Connected Homes, spotting, developing and
commercialising new opportunities, disruptive innovation and home automation that makes
customers lives easier.
The role will a suit a highly commercial passionate and experienced leader with excellent
entrepreneurial capability, who is autonomous, technologically savvy, comfortable with
managing significant ambiguity, and puts customers at the heart of everything they do.
This role will be required to interface, manage and influence leadership technology teams
and senior stakeholders internally as well as externally. You will work on strategic and
complex/non-standard assignments and you will manage direct and virtual teams of up to
10 across product and tech.
This role and the overall Product team will operate using Lean Start-Up and Agile
methodologies, focusing on rapid product development and validated learning through
customer insights at every stage of the development process.
Accountabilities
End to end innovation, development, launch and management of products
Overall accountability for the performance of the products P&L, including the
overall delivery of weekly and monthly product figures, performance against agreed
budgets
Development of the product roadmap and strategy
Creating distinctive customer propositions supported by credible business cases
Ensuring that products delight customers, encourage frequent use and champion a
world class customer experience
Utilising Lean start up methodologies for market and customer development and
working closely with technology partners in an agile environment
Leading market and customer research
Partnering with Head of Marketing and Commercial to develop effective branding,
marketing, sales and pricing
Develop and manage strong relationships with customers, partners and
stakeholders within British Gas
Cultivate groups of friendly customers for alpha and beta trials

2. Experience
Extensive knowledge and experience of developing and delivering consumer
oriented products ideally in a technologically enabled environment
Willing and able to ‘get hands dirty’, working in a start-up environment
Experience of an entrepreneurial environment with uncertainty, rapid change,
moving boundaries.
Enthusiastic senior player able to engage with and inspire those around. Must be
able to gain the confidence of colleagues and influence at all levels
Graduate level education and strong intellectual stature – ideally at least a 2:1 from
a top University
A-Player with strong career trajectory and potential to succeed to next level
Excellent planning and coordination skills
Potentially have knowledge of working in Lean start-up or similar
