Title of the Paper
This is your introductory paragraph designed to inform the reader of what you will cover in the paper. (BSN Students - Carefully follow your course-specific Grading Rubric concerning the content that is required for your assignment and the Academic Writing Expectations [AWE] level of your course.) This template’s formatting—Times New Roman 12-point font, double spacing, 1” margins, 1/2” indentations beginning of each paragraph, page numbers, and page breaks—is set for you, and you do not need to change it. Do not add any extra spaces between the heading and the text (you may want to check Spacing under Paragraph, and make sure settings are all set to “0”). The ideas in this paper should be in your own words and supported by credible outside evidence. Cite the author, year of publication, and page number, if necessary, per APA. The introductory paragraph should receive no specific heading because the first section functions as your paper’s introduction. Build this paragraph with the following elements:
1.
Briefly detail what has been said or done regarding the topic.
2.
Explain the problem with what has been said or done.
3.
Create a purpose statement (also commonly referred to as a thesis statement) as the last sentence of this paragraph: “The purpose of this paper is to describe…”.
Level 1 Heading (Name According to the Grading Rubric Required Content)
This text will be the beginning of the body of the paper. Even though this section has a new heading, make sure to connect this section to the previous one so readers can follow along with the ideas and research presented. The first sentence, or topic sentence, in each paragraph should transition from the previous paragraph and summarize the main point in the paragraph. Make sure each paragraph addresses only one topic. When you see yourself drifting to another idea, make sure you break into a new paragraph. Avoid long paragraphs that are more than three-fourths of a page. Per our program recommendations, each paragraph should be at least 3-4 sentences in length and contain a topic sentence, evidence, analysis, and a conclusion or lead out sentence. In your paragraphs, synthesize your resources/readings into your own words and avoid using direct quotations. In the rare instances you do use a direct quotation of a historical nature from a source, the page or paragraph numbers are also included in the citation. For example, Leplante and Nolin (2014) described burnout as "a negative affective response occurring as result of chronic work stress" (p. 2). When you transition to a new idea, you should begin a new paragraph.

Your evaluation report should be:
· Double-spaced between all text lines
· Times New Roman typeface
· 12-pt font
· 1-inch margins on all sides
· The general rule is to use numerals to express numbers 10 and above and words to express numbers below 10.
· In-text citations: Follow the author-date method. This means that the author's last name and the year of publication for the source should appear in the text, for example, (Jones, 2014), and a complete reference should appear in the reference list at the end of the paper.
· Each source cited in text must appear in the reference list at the end of the paper and “each entry in the reference list must be cited in text” (APA, 2010, p. 174). A personal conversation is the only exception. You will cite a personal conversation within the text, however, you will not list it within the references.
· Review carefully the APA guidelines to ensure all references and citations are formatted correctly.
· Use direct quotes only if you have good reason. Most of your paper should be in your own words. You should summarize or paraphrase.

Section One
Because the introduction is clearly identified by its position in the paper, it does not have a heading. Your paper opens with an introduction that sets the stage for the reader to better understand the overall school/family/community partnership evaluation process. Your report’s first paragraph is an introduction to your evaluation process. In this section you explain the process by which your stakeholder committee, which includes administration, faculty, parents (families), community members, and business partners, work collaboratively to evaluate school level family and community communication and partnerships. The purpose of the report should be stated in the first or second paragraph. The first part is typically several paragraphs describing the overall scenario or context of your study, e.g. name of school, location, relevant history, campus demographics (ethnicity and socio-economic level of students, grade levels, urban or rural, etc.), stakeholder committee demographics as well as any other relevant information that will assist the reader in understanding the context of your report. Include any significant challenges or biases discovered that might impact the project. The reader should have a good idea what the paper is about before finishing the first page.

Typing Template for APA Papers: A Sample of Proper Formatting for the APA 6th Edition
This is an electronic template for papers written in APA style (American Psychological Association, 2010). The purpose of the template is to help the student set the margins and spacing. Margins are set at 1 inch for top, bottom, left, and right. The type is left-justified only—that means the left margin is straight, but the right margin is ragged. Each paragraph is indented five spaces. It is best to use the tab key to indent. The line spacing is double throughout the paper, even on the reference page. One space is used after punctuation at the end of sentences. The font style used in this template is Times New Roman and the font size is 12.
First Heading
The heading above would be used if you want to have your paper divided into sections based on content. This is the first level of heading, and it is centered and bolded with each word of four letters or more capitalized. The heading should be a short descriptor of the section. Note that not all papers will have headings or subheadings in them.
First Subheading
The subheading above would be used if there are several sections within the topic labeled in a heading. The subheading is flush left and bolded, with each word of four letters or more capitalized.
Second Subheading
APA dictates that you should avoid having only one subsection heading and subsection within a section. In other words, use at least two subheadings under a main heading, or do not use any at all.
When you are ready to write, and after having read these instructions completely, you can delete these directions and start typing. The formatting should stay the same. However, one item that you will have to change is the page header, which is placed at the top of each page along with the page number. The words included in the page header should be reflective of the title of your paper, so that if the pages are intermixed with other papers they will be identifiable. When using Word 2003, double click on the words in the page header. This should enable you to edit the words. You should not have to edit the page numbers.
In addition to spacing, APA style includes a special way of citing resou ...

Enterprise Architecture Enables Processes Paper
Purpose of this Assignment
This assignment gives you the opportunity to apply your critical thinking skills and understanding of the course concepts to explain how the enterprise architecture (EA) and/or the EA program supports the other IT management processes of an organization. This assignment specifically addresses the following course outcomes:
· describe enterprise architecture (EA), the appropriate application of EA frameworks, and an overall ongoing EA program
· analyze and examine how enterprise architecture and enterprise systems influence, support, and enable an organization's ability to contribute to strategic decision making and to respond and adapt to the business environment
· apply EA concepts to support business requirements and identify opportunities for enterprise solutions
Assignment
As you have learned throughout the course, EAs can be used to support a wide variety of information technology management processes, and an EA program strengthens IT management activities. A well-defined and implemented EA contributes significantly to each of the phases of the systems development life cycle (SDLC). For this assignment you will write a 3-5 page paper (not counting any cover sheet or reference pages) that explains briefly what enterprise architecture (EA) is and then how it supplements and enables each of the phases of the SDLC:
· initiation/planning/concept phase
· requirements analysis phase
· design phase
· development phase
· integration and testing phase
· implementation/deployment/support/maintenance phase
You should explain how EA enables each phase, how it fits into each phase, and what unique qualities or capabilities a well-defined EA contributes that might not otherwise be available to the organization.
The use of at least two external scholarly resources (other than class materials) is required. (NOTE: More than two external resources are required to receive all possible points; see Grading Rubric below.) You should use scholarly journals (rather than Wikipedia and author-less website postings). If you need assistance with determining what a scholarly journal is, the UMUC library is a very good source of information, accessed via the following link: http://www.umuc.edu/library/libhow/articles.cfm. Remember to correctly cite and reference all sources using APA format.
Submit your paper in Word format via your Assignments Folder as an attached document with your last name included in the filename.

You will submit a draft to your professor of the first part at the end of Week 2. This is important! Use the feedback from your professor to refine your trends section and correct any errors in your reference citations. Then work on the issue of interest, review and edit your work, and submit your completed paper at the end of Week 3. It you want to send a draft to the writing tutors, build in time to get that feedback and use it for your final.
Please delete all the instructions/notes within this template before submitting your final paper. In the web version, click the three dots in the upper right corner and select delete thread. In the desktop version, right click on the comment and select delete.

This first section (due at the end of Week 2 for a review) consists of the title page, introductory paragraph, Level 1 and Level 2 headings, discussion of three trends, and your references page. Within your introductory paragraph, introduce your industry and clearly identify the top three trends your research has uncovered. Remember to use in-text citations if you are using others’ ideas (Hogan, 2021). Your final sentence should be a transition that leads into the discussion of your first trend in the body of your paper. [Name of Trend #1] Comment by Kathleen Hogan: This is a Level 2 heading (left-justified and bold). Continue this pattern for Trends 2 and 3.
In this section, introduce and discuss Trend #1 in 1-2 paragraphs. Explain how this trend is new to the industry and what it signals for the industry. Note that all paragraphs are indented a tab at 0.5”. Also, all lines are double spaced. The final sentence of this paragraph should lead into the first sentence of the next paragraph. You will have an opportunity to revise this section when you receive feedback from your professor on your draft.

Introduction. This paragraph does not have a title. The title page serves as the title. Scholarly writing includes three to seven sentences in a paragraph. However, three to five short distinct sentences will be sufficient. Paragraphs should not be one page or longer in length. Here is a model to help you. Use the acronym MEAL when writing paragraphs with APA 7th edition citations.
MEAL:
Main idea. Introduce the focus of the paragraph.
Evidence. Support the main idea with source information.
Analysis. Explain and analyze the source information.
Lead out. Conclude the topic, like a conclusion paragraph.
Remember that perfection is not the goal. There will be always room for improvement. Being detail oriented does not equal perfection; however, it enables you to move toward scholarship. Use LopesWrite to stress clear, concise, and research writing. Avoid Plagiarism and Direct Quotes.
1st paragraph is titled Comprehension Strategies (Level 1 heading)
This is a Level 1 heading, and it is centered and bolded, and the initial word and each word of four or more letters is capitalized. The heading is a short descriptor of a section.
2nd paragraph is titled Graphic Organizers (cite a source)
3rd paragraph is titled Independent Practice (cite a source)
4th paragraph is titled Model-Lead Test (cite a source)
5th paragraph is titled Peer Tutoring (cite a source)
6th paragraph is titled Repeated Reading (cite a source)
7th paragraph is titled Instructional Goals
8th paragraph is titled Parent Involvement
9th paragraph is titled Student Concerns
10th paragraph is titled Conclusion
Beginning the conclusion with phrases like "in closing," "in summary" or "in conclusion" is redundant and unnecessary. Scholarly writing includes three to seven sentences in a paragraph. However, three to five short and distinct sentences will be sufficient. Your conclusion does not contain any new information.

Blockchain A blockchain is a continuously growing list of record.docxmoirarandell
Blockchain
A blockchain is a continuously growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked and secured using cryptography. Each block typically contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp and transaction data. By design, a blockchain is inherently resistant to modification of the data. It is "an open, distributed ledger that can record transactions between two parties efficiently and in a verifiable and permanent way". For use as a distributed ledger, a blockchain is typically managed by a peer-to-peer network collectively adhering to a protocol for inter-node communication and validating new blocks. Once recorded, the data in any given block cannot be altered retroactively without the alteration of all subsequent blocks, which requires collusion of the network majority.
Blockchains are secure by design. Decentralized consensus has therefore been achieved with a blockchain. This makes blockchains potentially suitable for the recording of events, medical records, and other records management activities, such as identity management, transaction processing, documenting provenance, food traceability or voting.
Blockchain was invented by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 for use in the cryptocurrency bitcoin, as its public transaction ledger. The invention of the blockchain for bitcoin made it the first digital currency to solve the double-spending problem without the need of a trusted authority or central server. The bitcoin design has been the inspiration for other applications.

The subheading above would be used if there are several sections within the topic labeled in a first level heading. This is a Level 2 heading, and it is flush left and bolded, and the initial word and each word of four or more letters is capitalized.
Subsection Heading
APA dictates that you should avoid having only one subsection heading and subsection within a section. In other words, use at least two subheadings under a main heading, or do not use any at all. Headings are used in order, so a paper must use Level 1 before using Level 2. Do not adjust spacing to change where on the page a heading falls, even if it would be the last line on a page.
The Title Page
When you are ready to write, and after having read these instructions completely, you can delete these directions and start typing. The formatting should stay the same. You will also need to change the items on the title page. Fill in your own title, name, course, college, instructor, and date. List the college to which the course belongs, such as College of Theology, College of Business, or College of Humanities and Social Sciences. GCU uses three letters and numbers with a hyphen for cours.

(1a.) Assignment 3: Professional Portfolio—Resume/Vitae and list of References
by
Wednesday, September 2, 2015
For this assignment, you will submit the first document to be included in your Professional Portfolio: Your resume (if you are seeking employment immediately upon graduation) or your curriculum vitae (if you are applying to graduate school). At the end of the document, you should include a list of at least three references to whom you intend to send a letter requesting a reference/recommendation, you can also submit your transcripts, but these documents are optional.
Resume/Vitae
Update your resume (if you are seeking employment immediately upon graduation) or your curriculum vitae (if you plan to apply to graduate school). Try to tailor it to your specific goal. In other words, keep the resume focused on how your skills apply to the work force and keep the curriculum vitae focused on your academic goals.
You must also identify three potential references to whom you intend to send a letter requesting a reference/recommendation, with their contact information provided (name, address, e-mail address, and/or telephone number). These can be current or former professors, employers, supervisors, etc. For each reference, specify how that person is familiar with your academic or job performance. A sample Reference List is available at:
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/637/1/
To find tips on writing and organizing resumes, and other aspects of a career search or graduate school admission, search the EBSCO database for both résumé and the curriculum vitae guidelines.
What is the distinction between the resume and the CV? Go to the EBSCO database and search for: “
Resume or vita? What’s the difference?”
You may want to visit the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology Website’s page, “The Curriculum Vita: A Student’s Guide to Preparation” at:
http://www.psichi.org/?092EyeWin05dLandrum
. The article outlines the required sections of the vitae and provides an image of a sample vitae (click on the links to Figure 1 within the text of the “Sections of the CV” paragraph to view the sample).

All scientific theories must be able to make testable predictions. S.docxoreo10
All scientific theories must be able to make testable predictions. Such predictions are based on observations. Experiments can then be conducted to verify (or falsify) such predictions. Darwin theorized that evolution occurred through natural selection; however, this may not have occurred in a smooth process. Some evolutionary theorists suggest that evolution by natural selection occurred in step-wise fashion.
Assignment
Write 3–4 pages on the following (not including the title and reference pages):
Explain the concepts of phyletic gradualism and punctuated equilibrium.
What predictions about the fossil record does punctuated equilibrium make?
In this model, what are the processes that produce rapid evolution? Which evolutionary factors are responsible for the periods of relative stasis?
Patterns of punctuated equilibrium have been observed in some cases, but the debate between punctuated equilibrium and phyletic gradualism continues and provides interesting areas of research. Based on your research into the scientific process, what evidence do we see today that supports a long history of life on the planet?
What evidence do we see that supports evolution by gradual change?
What evidence do we see that supports the concept of punctuated equilibrium?

All literature involves some kind of performance which is intended f.docxoreo10
All literature involves some kind of performance which is intended for an audience. Sometimes, however, the performative quality of a work (i.e., the fact that it is being presented to an audience) is more obvious than at others. Drama and poetry, for example, tend to emphasize overt performance more than do short stories, which more often are read silently and in solitude.
How is the more direct performative aspect of drama and/or poetry reflected in these forms? (Consider for example, each genre’s uses of literary structure, language, technique, and style.) How do these literary elements affect your reading experience?
In your post, identify key qualities of drama and poetry which emphasize their performative qualities. Discuss how these characteristics shape your reading response. Support your views with
at least one example of a dramatic text and one example of a poem

Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus, 1818
Boris Karloff in Frankenstein in 1931 directed by James Whale
Mary Shelley first published Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus 1818. the novel allegorizes the Romantic obsession with discovering the power or principle of life. Ideas about a life power were consistent with the scientific understanding of the day. Darwin himself spoke of an organizing “spirit of animation” in his Zoonomia; or, The Laws of Organic Life, in which he stated “the world itself might have been generated, rather than created.”
Dr. Frankenstein picked all the parts for his monster based on their beauty, but when it comes to life, the monster is unbearably ugly. “I had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body…the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. Unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created, I rushed out of the room”.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

DISCLAIMER
When this document went to publication (Last Revised: August
2021), all the information contained in it was updated.
Since this document is prepared in advance of the academic
year, changes may be necessary. If this occurs, students
will be notified electronically and the online version will be
updated on the University website. Students are
encouraged to reference the online version
(saintleo.edu/codeofconduct) for the most up-to-date
information.
Students at Saint Leo University are provided a copy of the
Student Code of Conduct annually in the form of a link on

SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
SECTION 1: PREAMBLE AND STUDENT’S RIGHTS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Saint Leo University community is committed to fostering a
campus environment conducive to academic inquiry,
a productive campus life, and thoughtful study and discourse.
The student conduct program within Student Affairs is
committed to an educational and developmental process that
balances the interests of individual students with the
interests of the University community.
A community exists on the basis of shared values and
principles. At Saint Leo University, student members of the
community are expected to uphold and abide by certain
standards of conduct that form the basis of the Student Code of
27. Conduct. These standards are embodied within a set of core
values that include excellence, community, respect,
personal development, responsible stewardship, and integrity.
Members of the Saint Leo University community bear
responsibility for their conduct and assume reasonable
responsibility for the behavior of others. When members of the
community fail to exemplify these six core values by
engaging in violation of the rules below, campus conduct
proceedings are used to assert and uphold the Student Code
of Conduct.
The student conduct process at Saint Leo University is not
intended to punish students; rather, it exists to protect the
interests of the community and to challenge those whose
behavior is not in accordance with our policies and the core
values. Sanctions are intended to challenge students’ moral and
ethical decision-making and to help them bring their
behavior into accord with our community expectations. When
students are unable to conform their behavior to
community expectations, the student conduct process may
determine that the student(s) should no longer share in the
privilege of participating in this community.
28. Students should be aware that the student conduct process is
quite different from criminal and civil court proceedings
and the University’s Title IX process. Procedures and rights in
student conduct procedures are conducted with fairness
to all, but do not include the same protections of due process
afforded by the courts or Title IX process. Due process, as
defined within these procedures, assures written notice and a
conduct meeting before an objective Conduct Officer who
will make a decision based on the preponderance of the
evidence or more likely than not standard. No student will be
found in violation of Saint Leo University policy without
information showing that a policy violation occurred. Any
sanctions given will be proportionate to the severity of the
violation and to the student’s cumulative conduct history
A. Amnesty
In line with the University’s core value of responsible
stewardship, the University maintains an amnesty
policy to protect students (including student organizations)
when reporting themselves, friends, or another
member of the University community who is in medical distress.
The University has the amnesty policy in
place to encourage students to act responsibly and report
emergencies without fear of University-imposed
disciplinary consequences because its primary concern is the
29. health, safety, and well-being of students.
Students who qualify for the following two options (i and ii)
may be required to participate in a meeting with
the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs or designee and
comply with any/all recommendations
prescribed from them (including any associated costs with those
recommendations) to avoid going through
the University Conduct process.
Last Updated August 2021 6
i. For the Reporting Party
Saint Leo University provides amnesty to the reporting party
who may be hesitant to report serious
violations of the Student Code of Conduct to University
Officials because they fear that they
themselves may be accused of minor policy violations at the
time of the incident. For example, this
would apply to students who are reporting physical abuse, but
who have also engaged in underage
alcohol consumption and/or substance use. Educational options
will be explored, but no conduct
proceedings or conduct record will result. Records regarding the
30. provision of amnesty, however,
will be maintained.
ii. For Those Who Offer Assistance
To encourage students to offer help and assistance to others,
Saint Leo University pursues a policy
of amnesty for minor violations when students offer help to
others in need. At the discretion of the
Associate Vice President for Student Affairs or designee,
amnesty may also be extended on a case-
by-case basis to the person receiving assistance. Educational
options will be explored, but no
conduct proceedings or conduct record will result. Records
regarding the provision of amnesty,
however, will be maintained.
The protocol applies only to the Saint Leo University Student
Code of Conduct. Law enforcement agencies
may act within their jurisdictions in enforcing the laws enacted
by the State of Florida, the United States, or
any other state or nation where jurisdiction may be invoked.
This policy does not apply to other prohibited behavior
including, but not limited to, the distribution of illegal
substances, sexual misconduct, or abuse.
31. B. Disciplinary Records
All conduct records are maintained by the University for seven
(7) years from the time of their creation except
those that result in separation (suspension or expulsion,
including from housing) and those that fall under Title
IX, which are maintained for a minimum of seven (7) years.
Students requesting access to their student
disciplinary/conduct records(s) must do so in writing to the
Office of Residence Life. A student may, upon
graduation or permanent separation, submit a written request to
the Associate Vice President for Student
Affairs, asking that minor disciplinary actions may be
expunged. The decision of the Associate Vice President
or designee for Student Affairs is final.
This policy is subject to the provisions of FERPA.
SECTION 2: JURISDICTION
The Student Code of Conduct and the student conduct process
applies to the conduct of individual students, as well as
all University-affiliated student organizations. The Associate
Vice President of Student Affairs or designee will serve
as convener and executer of the Student Code of Conduct and
retains conduct jurisdiction over students who choose to
32. take a leave of absence, withdraw, or have graduated for any
misconduct that occurred prior to the leave, withdrawal or
graduation. If sanctioned, a hold may be placed on the student’s
ability to re-enroll, obtain official transcripts, and/or
graduate; all sanctions must be satisfied prior to re-enrollment,
obtaining transcripts, and graduating. In the event of
serious misconduct committed while still enrolled but reported
after the respondent(s) has graduated, Saint Leo
University may invoke an investigation that may result in the
revocation of that student’s degree.
Although the University is not responsible or liable for student
off campus events or behavior, it does reserve the right
to respond to behavior off campus that violates University
expectations, Core Values, and Policies, in the interest of
protecting students and the academic community from harm,
and as part of fulfilling its educational mission. The
University will take action if the continued presence of the
student presents a danger to the health, safety, or welfare of
the University Community, or it is disruptive to the orderly
processes and functions of the University.
University policies and other expectations govern students
participating in Saint Leo University or Saint Leo
33. University-affiliated study abroad programs or other University-
sponsored activities no matter where they occur.
The Student Code of Conduct may be applied to behavior
conducted online, via E-mail or other electronic medium.
Students should also be aware that online postings such as
blogs, web postings, chats, and social networking sites are in
the public sphere and are not private. These postings can subject
a student to allegations of conduct violations if
information about policy violations is posted online. Saint Leo
University does not regularly search for this information
but may take action if and when such information is brought to
the attention of Saint Leo University officials.
However, most online speech by students not involving Saint
Leo University networks or technology will be protected
Last Updated August 2021 7
as free expression and not subject to this Student Code of
Conduct, with notable exceptions including, but not limited
to:
A. A true threat, defined as “a threat a reasonable person would
interpret as a serious expression of intent to
inflict bodily harm upon specific individuals”;
34. B. Speech posted online about the University or its community
members that causes a significant on campus
disruption.
C. Speech that the University determines is offensive and not in
accordance with the University’s core values.
The Student Code of Conduct applies to guests of community
members whose hosts may be held accountable for the
misconduct of their guests. The Student Code of Conduct may
also be applied to resident non-students, including, but
not limited to: campers, high school bridge program
participants, recruits on official visits, and continuing education
programs by contractual agreements. Visitors to and guests of
Saint Leo University may seek resolution of violations of
the Student Code of Conduct committed against them by Saint
Leo University student community members.
There is no time limit on reporting violations of the Student
Code of Conduct; however, the longer someone waits to
report an offense, the harder it becomes for Saint Leo
University officials to obtain information, witness statements
and
to make determinations regarding alleged violations.
Though anonymous complaints are permitted, doing so may
limit the Saint Leo University’s ability to investigate and
35. respond to a complaint. Those who are aware of misconduct are
encouraged to report it as quickly as possible to
University Safety, Residence Life, and/or to Student Affairs.
Students who withdraw or take a leave of absence/hiatus from
the University prior to their conduct meeting will have
their case suspended and a Student Affairs Hold will be placed
on their account until the matter is resolved. Students
who withdraw or take a leave of absence/hiatus from the
University after the date stated in the letter to schedule a
conduct meeting will have the case heard in absentia if they fail
to appear. If the student withdraws following the
conduct meeting, the student will be subject to the findings and
sanctions imposed from the process. Should the student
decide to return to the University, the student will be required
to have the conduct meeting and/or complete all
sanctions assigned (if found responsible for alleged violations)
prior to the Student Affairs Hold being removed from
the student’s account. Please note that this Student Affairs Hold
may prevent a student from receiving a transcript in the
event that the student is attempting to transfer or graduate.
Saint Leo University-issued E-mail is the primary means of
communication with students. Students are responsible for
36. all communication delivered to their Saint Leo University-
issued E-mail address.
SECTION 3: VIOLATIONS OF THE LAW
Alleged violations of federal, state and local laws may be
investigated and addressed under the Student Code of
Conduct. When an offense occurs over which Saint Leo
University has jurisdiction, the Saint Leo University conduct
process will usually go forward notwithstanding any criminal
complaint that may arise from the same incident.
Saint Leo University reserves the right to exercise its authority
of remedial action upon notification that a student is
facing criminal investigation and/or complaint. Additional
grounds for remedial actions are outlined in Section 5A1.
Students are under a continuing duty to report any arrests,
pending charge(s) (excluding minor traffic citations), notice
to appear citation(s), or criminal conviction(s), even if the
adjudication or sentence has been withheld. This reporting
obligation includes specifying the charge(s), when and where it
occurred, and the case number (if any). This
information must be provided in writing (E-mail or letter) to the
Associate Vice President or designee within ten (10)
37. business days following the reportable event as listed above.
SECTION 4: PROSCRIBED CONDUCT
A. Core Values and Behavioral Expectations
Saint Leo University considers the behavior described in the
following sub-sections as inappropriate for the Saint Leo
University community and in opposition to the core values set
forth in this document. Failure to adhere to any
university policy or procedure subjects that person or
organization to disciplinary action, including sanctions outlined
in Section 6: Sanctions. Saint Leo University encourages
community members to report to Saint Leo University
officials all incidents that involve the following actions.
B. Policies
Last Updated August 2021 8
B1. ABUSE (Physical, Mental, or Verbal)
Values: Community, Respect, Integrity
Physical, mental, or verbal abuse of any person is prohibited.
38. No student shall cause harm to another or aid in
commission of an act that causes physical or emotional harm to
others or which intimidates, degrades, demeans,
threatens, or otherwise unreasonably interferes with another
person’s rights or comfort. Please note this encompasses
all means of communication, including but not limited to,
electronic and social media.
B2. ACADEMIC HONOR CODE
Values: Excellence, Respect, Integrity
Saint Leo University holds all students to the highest standards
of honesty and personal integrity in every phase of their
academic life. All students have a responsibility to uphold the
Academic Honor Code by refraining from any form of
academic misconduct, presenting only work that is genuinely
their own, and reporting any observed instance of
academic dishonesty to a faculty member. Please consult the
Academic Catalog for Academic Policies.
Additional information regarding the Academic Honor Code can
be found in the following document:
faculty.saintleo.edu/academic-affairs-resource-center/academic-
standards-honor-code
39. B3. ALCOHOL
Values: Community, Respect, Personal Development, Integrity
Excessive drinking and intoxication will not be tolerated.
Members of the Saint Leo University community who choose
to drink alcohol irresponsibly will be held responsible for their
behavior that occurs while under the influence.
A. Any violation of Florida State laws regarding alcohol will be
considered grounds for University disciplinary
action. These include:
i. Possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages if
under the age of 21 (including alcohol-
based drinks, e.g. FourLoko).
ii. Selling, giving, serving alcoholic beverages, or permitting
alcohol to be served to persons under 21.
iii. Misrepresenting or misstating one’s age or using altered
identification for the purpose of procuring
alcoholic beverages.
iv. Consuming or possessing open containers of alcoholic
beverages including secondary containers,
while in municipal parks, playgrounds, sidewalks, streets, or
being found in the state of intoxication
on a street or in a public place. This open container law applies
both on and off campus. This
includes the consumption/possession of open alcohol in
40. residence hall corridors, lounges, and any
public areas.
v. Common sources of alcohol, including but not limited to,
kegs and party balls (empty or full) are
prohibited, except as outlined in the Social Event Guidelines.
vi. Devices and games designed for the rapid consumption of
alcohol or any other substance including,
but not limited to beer pong, water pong, funnels and/or beer
bongs are prohibited.
vii. Driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.
viii. Possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages is
strictly prohibited on campus before the
start of classes regardless of age. Campus is considered “dry”
for new and returning students during
Orientation/Week of Welcome (fall, spring, summer) and for
other students who have been
approved to return early. This includes all approved students
participating in extended housing.
B. Students who are over 21 years old may complete and submit
a Residence Life Wet Room Agreement that
would allow 21 year old students to consume alcohol within that
room.
i. Possession of alcohol and/or alcohol containers within any
room/suite that is not authorized to be a
“wet room”, regardless of occupant’s age, constitutes a
violation of the University’s alcohol policy.
41. Note: The University considers students to be in possession of
alcoholic beverages if the alcoholic beverages
are located in their assigned residence hall room, personal
vehicle, …
