Hi, this is Doug Devitre, Harry’s Dad. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Harry was forced to take kindergarten, virtually from a laptop. Right away I knew his school was unable to meet his learning needs because his teachers were so far behind in teaching with technology. Instead of relying upon the school, I took a homeschool approach where he goes to school to play and comes home to learn.
In order to create the ultimate learning environment for Harry, it was important to find out what he was most passionate about, integrate the core learning standards he would normally learn at school, and start his entrepreneurial journey by owning the homework he does with me. This isn’t your everyday lemonade stand.
Harry’s goals are to play more Minecraft, earn the silver play button from YouTube by attracting 100,000 subscribers, and have fun with his friends. My goals are to help him receive the best education, start a business, and make an impact in the community.
Together we co-authored the 101 Homeschooling Activities in St. Louis available on Amazon Kindle. Each activity has a destination, a recommendation, QR code, and website where the reader can learn more.
Our business has been selected by the Information Technology Entrepreneur Network to participate in the Eureka Experience Validation with the help of Lindenwood University. This 12-week process will help fine-tune the business model, value proposition, and offering to customers with the intent of deliverable a minimum viable product as a breakthrough value proposition in the education technology industry.
