Defense Of Hayek s Spontaneous Order
In Defense of Hayek s Spontaneous Order:
The Infrangible Relationship of Consumers to Supply and Demand
What is the problem we wish to solve when we try to construct a rational economic order? This is
the integral question posed by Friedrich A. Hayek in his scholarly article, The Use of Knowledge
in Society. And it is the heart of his argument in favor of spontaneous order, the theory that systems,
such as markets, naturally correct themselves, and function best without human intervention.
Gleaned from Adam Smith s Invisible Hand, Hayek s belief was that society evolved from a
spontaneous order which was the result of human action but not of human design (Barry). Political
philosopher Norman Barry (1982) explored the importance of the theory
of spontaneous order, noting that the institutions and practices it investigates reveal well structured
social patterns, whichappear to be a product of some omniscient designing mind yet which are in
reality the spontaneous coordinated outcomes of the actions of, possibly, millions of individuals
who had no intention of effecting such overall aggregate orders.
Hayek believed in the value of collective knowledge and alluded to its intangible force which, he
stated, had the capacity to effectively drive and regulate social affairs as well as economic markets.
Spontaneous order, he wrote, was a peculiar phenomenon that, when dissected, yielded information
that could be studied and mimicked, but not replicated.

Caitlyn Jenner Speech Analysis
Communication is a process that allows us to construct identities based on the interpretation and
intention of speech acts. Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, spent most her life
identified by her master identity as a cis white male and until a few years ago she adopted the
interactional identity of a transgender female. In this paper, I will demonstrate how various forms
of speech acts build, remain and/or change the master and interactional identity of Caitlyn Jenner
as well as her relationships to others. To do so I will explain how Caitlyn Jenner seeks advice
from her close family member Scott Disick to help her understand the variety of speech acts
coming from both her private and public life: ranging from Scott who demonstrate faceredress and
accept her based on her new interaction identity as a female, while also dealing with the face
threats that come from those (particularly males) who only see her as her previous master identity
as a male. To start, in lines 1 and 4 Caitlyn seeks to understand the perspective that guy s have on
her transition, in both lines she draws out the word guy to emphasize her lack of understanding on
how males think. She notes that she s struggled with it (male s perspective) even though
contextually she had the master identity of a male the majority of her life, she has always
struggled with the standards that come with that identity and that still remains. Therefore, she
seeks the perspective of a close male in her family to provide her with that outlook. In contrast,
Scott, who possess the master identity of a male and also accepts it as an interactional identity
chooses to influx and draw out the word me in line 7 in his account that not every male will be
comfortable with her change in identity because while he notes that he is comfortable with her
change in line 24, he also draws out the word every to signify that he is inferring that male
perspectives are not always homogenous and he does this by using an upward intonation of I to
highlight the contrast which is prevalent through his tone change between both words. Additionally,
in line 25, Caitlyn utilizes the example of Kris Humphries tweet that was an indirect face threat
about her transition

US Involvement In World War II
World War II was our last major war that had so many countries fighting each other just because
one man wanted to create what he believe was a superior race and had killed millions to try to
achieve his goal. This war had lasted six long years had cost millions of lives before this war

in 1939 when Germany had invaded Poland and within a week of the invasion six other countries

How Did Robert Peary Achieve His Goals
To move forward in life, our main focus should be conquering our fears and achieving our goals.
Robert Peary is a great example of this. On April 6, 1909, Peary conquered the world and achieved
his lifetime goal of reaching the top of the world, the North Pole. He prepared for this goal all of
his life, through school and work after college. He did much research and took many voyages to
explore. He did not reach the Pole on his first try, but he persevered. After many long journeys and
great challenges, he finally achieved his goal and made his mark on the world. We should work just
as hard as Robert Peary did to overcome challenges in life and achieve our goals. Robert Peary was
born on May 6, 1856, in Cresson, Pennsylvania. He later moved... Show more content on

He had overcome many tremendous challenges to achieve his goal. Because of this, it was
extremely disheartening to come home to civilization. Upon his return, he discovered that
Frederick Cook, a man who had accompanied Peary on one of his earlier expeditions, was
claiming to have reached the North Pole a year earlier that him. Peary was stripped of his glory
until two Eskimos who were with Cook on his journey revealed Cook s photographic evidence
to be fake. The photos were said to have been taken a long way from the Pole. After a
Congressional inquiry in 1911, Peary was once again declared the first to reach the North Pole.
Cook was eventually imprisoned for another scandal concerning an oil well swindle. All was
well; Cook received what he deserved, and Peary got the recognition his great achievement
warranted. After losing eight toes to the Arctic cold and aging prematurely because so much
time spent in the harsh Arctic climate, Peary s dream was officially realized. Because his life
goal had been attained, Peary was able to die in peace, which he did on February 20, 1920. His
life was cut short due to health issues caused by the Arctic cold. He was then buried with his wife
Josephine in a place of honor in Arlington Cemetery. His companion Matthew Henson was later
buried next to Peary and his

Urban Suburbs In California
California Suburbs California is a state with a lifestyle and identity all its own. One factor
contributing to California s unique singularity is the lay out of its cities and suburban areas. Unlike
many metropolitan areas, which built up, California spread out, creating a commuter culture of
loosely connected communities surrounding larger cities and urban areas. The popularization of
suburban neighborhoods gained prominence and momentum in the 1950s, following World War
II,and the influx of veterans returning home and starting families. That decade s economic growth,
attributed to government spending on the construction of interstate highways and schools, the
distribution of veterans benefits and the increase in military spending, left Californians with high
wages and low unemployment and inflation (The 1950s). These circumstances, combined with the
ingenuity of new developers regarding the layout, construction and affordability of economically
built homes, spear headed the creation of suburban communities in California. With thousands of
new homes being built and purchased and hundreds of people... Show more content on

In less than 10 months, over 7,400 houses were sold (Waldie). The availability of the homes and
the ease in which individuals could receive loans enticed hundreds of first time home buyers. For
many banks, the only prerequisites for qualifying for a loan was that they had a steady job and
their promise to keep up with the mortgage payments (Waldie). The location of the suburban
communities was also appealing to Californians. The distance of homes from the congestion of the
cities created a commuter based lifestyle, supported by the railroads and the influx and popularity
of new automobiles (Starr). Many people preferred the separation of the communities from the
hustle and bustle of the overcrowded cities and they enjoyed the remote locations of suburbs and

Letter From A Birmingham Jail By Martin Luther King Jr
Human Rights Activist, Martin Luther King Jr, in his letter, Letter from a Birmingham Jail , writes
to the public, justifying his actions against segregation. King s purpose is to convey the idea that
segregation is morally wrong in all senses. He displays a disciplined, yet exasperated manner while
referencing historical and biblical events, to show society how segregation is inhuman.
King begins his letter to the clergymen of Birmingham by comparing his actions to that of
biblical figures, seeking social justice. He appeals to the audience s religious beliefs by paralleling
the actions taken place. Stating Just as the prophets of the eight century B.C. left their villages and
carried their thus saith the Lord far beyond the boundaries of their hometowns, and just as the
Apostle Paul left his village of Tarus and carried the gospelof Jesus Christ to the far corners of the
Greco Roman world, so am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home
town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid. He furthermore clarifies
that with a nonviolent social tension, the discrimination will be brought into full view of society.
He demonstrates this by stating, Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the
mind so that individuals could rise from the bondage of myths and half truths to the unfettered
realm of creative analysis and objective appraisal, so must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies
to create the kind

Lisa Sherman Case Analysis Essay
Lisa Sherman Case Analysis:
October 2010
Summary:
Lisa Sherman worked for Verizon for many years. While there she never revealed her sexual
orientation .Then one fated day, there was a diversification workshop with her fellow managers.
The outcome of this was that her coworkers were bigoted towards homosexuality. Lisa Sherman had
a tough decision to make, whether to stay or to leave. The following analysis shows a suggested
solution.
Lisa Sherman Case Analysis:
Lisa Sherman spent many years not being true to who she was. She never told her coworkers that
she was gay during her 15 years at Verizon Communications. Then, the company decided they
wanted to hold diversity training. This is what led Lisa Sherman to the tough ... Show more content

She felt that if she were to tell anyone it would affect her career, which allegedly proved to be a
correct assumption, from the comments that her co workers made. One of the most homophobic
individuals turned out to be one of Lisa s mentors. In essence, the people Lisa had been closest to
turned out to be bigoted individuals.
When deciding what to do, Lisa needs to be sure it is in the best interest of her needs. Since she
has been with the same company for 15 years, and quickly worked her way up, she probably has a
myriad of opportunities waiting for her. She can inform the CEO Ray Smith of her sexual
orientation, as he wants the company to become more progressive and would (allegedly) not be
bothered by her sexuality. However, the rest of her coworkers still feel that Gay people are
immoral, disgusting people. Even if the CEO did not mind her sexuality, her coworkers would still
see her in a different light.
I feel the best decision that Lisa can make is to look for different work, with a more open,
progressive company, then resign from Verizon. This decision would allow her time to get her
finances in order. However, if she had a large savings, then the best decision would be to resign
immediately, because being around such bigoted individuals would cause her undue stress, and her
performance may be affected.
If Lisa Sherman chooses to resign, since the CEO Ray

Social Media Impact
Impact of social media on student s learning
Situation:
Over the last three decades, rapid growth and development has occurred in the area of information
and communication technologies. Within the last decade particularly, the growth in prominence of
social media and Web 2.0 technologies has had a dramatic impact globally on how people
communicate. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google_ and RenRen
have the potential to become important disruptive technologies for building cutting edge models of
management education (Michael and Howard 2012). This rapid growth in technology had made the
efforts to make things more challenging, dynamic and convenient as well. The impact is greater on
the youth or particularly students. Students no more utilize or surf online they live their lives there.
The ever engaging behavior of students in social media had created various opportunities for
different scientists to target them towards a thing.
Problem Statement:
With change in technology, the ways to deliver information has also shaped with it. For example,
there are new ways of marketing the products, providing valuable content online rather than on
physical books. The need to adapt to technological change that has rapid and crucial in success of
the education system. It is very important to use social medial in classroom as a teaching tool
because it has multiple impact on students learning and shaping their career. This research will be

Cullen s Incident
The poem, Incident is a part of Cullen s book called Color , which clearly portrays the racism
shown among the blacks, even among the children. The transition from innocence to experience
may also be seen in the poem My Last Duchess by Robert Browning. It starts off with the
innocence of a young child most likely riding on a subway who makes eye contact with another
young boy on the same car. Though neither is described to be older or smaller than the other boy.
Cullen goes on to say that from May until December of all the things that had happened, this
incident was the only thing he could remember. The tone in the poem quickly goes from a highly
optimistic attitude of the boy towards the city then turns to a depressing tone a because of that one
word. The poet clearly explains that racismis painful and no matter at what age you may have to
face it, it leaves a scar in their minds for a lifetime. When the word which is quoted is uttered by
the other boy a separation is brought upon that people of that time couldn t look past. Their first
judgments of another person came from their first look and the impression they are able to
conceive at that moment. This impression in most cases during the time was very prejudiced. In
My Last DuchessBrowning describes the Dukeof Ferrara who is trying to negotiate with a servant
for the hand of the count s daughter in marriage. During the negotiations the Duke is taking the
servant for a tour into his own private art gallery to

Pros And Cons Of A Flat Tax System
The modern concept of a flat tax was popularized by Stephen Forbes in his 1996 presidential
campaign when he proposed a universal income tax rate of 17 percent. Republicans have been
advocating for a flat tax plan ever since and the latest crop of presidential hopefuls eclipsed by
Donald Trump, proposed similar plans. Ted Cruz was talking about a flat 10 percent while Bush,
Huckabee, Carson, Rubio and Rand Paul all had similar ideas. The 2016 Republican nominee,
Donald Trump, also advocates for a reduction in taxbrackets closely resembling a flat tax rate,
since he is a reported billionaire. (Shlaes, 2015) The current tax system employs a progressive
tax rate, which means the percentage of income taxed rises with the amount earned. Currently,
earners who made up to $8,375 paid ten percent while those who made more than $373,650 paid
the top rate of 35 percent. Under the progressive tax system, a taxpayer pays a base rate on the
first dollar earned and rates rise as earnings rise so that making more money means moving into a
higher tax bracket. In a flat tax system, top earners pay more in dollars but pay at the same
percentage rate. (Shlaes, 2015)
History:
There have been two instances of a flat tax being levied in the United States, both times utilized to
respond to a major crisis. Both times, the flat tax revenue was never actualized. The first time was
in 1861 at the onset of the Civil War and the Lincoln Administration s need to finance the war effort.

William Butler Yeats Ageing Analysis
Living
(Three Messages from Sailing)
Who is William Butler Yeats? William Butler Yeats is regarded as one of the finest poets of the
century. Also, his return to the past as one would say has helped him to have a place in the future.
He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and Yeats was educated there and in London as well. The young
man was very immersed into the barren mountains, and in the mythology and the legends of
Ireland. From the Poetry Foundation stated, He belonged to the Protestant, Anglo Irish minority that
had controlled the economic, political, social, and cultural life of Ireland since at least the end of
the 17th century. After having this wonderful background that was full of experience Yeats wrote
some of the most famous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, the second message from Yeats Sailing, is what is really living. The idea is that as soon as
you were born you were dying. Which asks the question of what is really living. Some people
see a soul dragging around a corpse. Your soul wants to get out and be free. From the five life
changing thoughts stated, We have an ego, a personality, a history, preferences, dislikes, beliefs,
opinions, cultural viewpoints, and experiences. These ingredients comprise our person and our
worldly sense of self. But beneath all of these human ingredients lies one which is the
foundation of all of them. Without this ingredient, this avatar would not exist. This ingredient is
the soul. For me really living is doing things that make you happy. Because in life a person is
going to make mistakes and not be perfect but it s how you learn from them and how you make
your life better from the experience you had. From Sailing, Yeats, lines 21 25, Consume my
heart away; sick with desire and fastened to a dying animal. It knows not what it is; and gather
me into the artifice of eternity. All good things must die but it s about how you live and some
may say that right as you are born you are dying. But, if you look in a optimistic or pessimistic
view that s up to you. Lastly, the message from Sailing, Yeats, is being remembered. No matter who

Internet Marketing P4,P5,P6,M2
The Practicalities Of Going Online
Section One: Introduction
The internet offers the potential to achieve a global market success for any business. Businesses
that go online increase their opportunities to reach their target market and is cost effective when
compared with other forms of marketing. It creates opportunities, benefits and challenges for a
business but in the long run is worth it for the added publicity and hopefully profits. Going online
has benefited many organisations including TescoPLC. I will be using Tesco as my example of the
benefits, opportunities and challenges for a business by using the internet. Tesco has operated on
the Internet since 1994 and started an online shopping service named Tesco Direct in 1997 which ...

This also opens up access to people who may not be able to visit the stores due to poor mobility.
п‚ѕProduct
The customers are able to view images of all the products available. This will benefit Tesco as the
images encourage people to buy if they like what they see. If the images were not shown then this
could lose sales from customers that are unsure of what they wish to purchase. This is also an
opportunity for the customers to find the preferred item or new ones that look like an improvement
to their usual brand.
Originally Tesco used to be only in store, by expanding their services online they have created many
benefits and opportunities that have changed the way they sell and do business. They are able to
communicate easier with their customers, provide an excellent service to their customers and
further promote the business with efficiency.
Section Three: Task Two (P5)
Efficient
Achieving maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense.
п‚ѕThe internet helps Tesco to be efficient as they can collect orders in advance and prepare for
them. They are able to continue business in store and serve others at home. With a couple of
extra staff (to be the pickers and drivers to deliver) Tesco are able to maximise efficiency by
adding extra orders from customers that aren t in store and this reduces the amount of people in
the store which may block shelves if it gets too crowded. Time and money is

Comparing War Poems Essays
Comparing War Poems Died of Wounds and Suicide in the Trenches are two poems, which I will

poems were written by a person called Siegfried Sasson, who wrote most of his poems during the
World War One, which outlined how bad the war was to those at home after suffering from being
Shell Shocked. I will be comparing the language it uses, ideas it contains and the way it is
structured between both poems, which Siegfried Sasson uses to demonstrate that war is evil, and
should be stopped. The theme in Died of Wounds is that soldiers become shell shocked and go
insane. They also suffer from mental and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the forth line of Died of Wounds the author says He did the business well where business is a
metaphor, for it is the earnest of the wounded solider to draw attention to himself. Also on the
last line of Died of Wounds the author describes dead soldier as a slight wound where he is
comparing a dead solider to a small wound, and therefore it does not matter, and he is also
comparing the country to a solider, which is hardly notices a slight wound. There is also some
similarity in Suicide in the Trenches where Siegfried Sasson describes the trenches as if it is
like hell meaning that war was like a place where young people went and got themselves killed.
On the first line of Died of Wounds, Siegfried Sasson wrote Wet White , which is alliteration,
which is a type of sound device. He also does this on the third line, ninth line and the last line. This
makes the poem sound better. There is also some similarity in Suicide in the Trenches, where the
author also uses this device to make the poem catchier but instead uses different letters to make it
sound different and better. There is also another similarity in both poems where there are no
assonances, which is the same as alliteration but it does not occur in consonants

More than half of the population of Pakistan is food insecured despite agricultural growth. The
food security of a country is the availability of food in that country, and the people s access to it. It
is often said, Food insecurity anywhere, threatens peace everywhere .
The term food security reflects the desire to eliminate hunger and malnutrition. The World Food
Summit in 1996 defined food security as, when all people at all times have physical and
economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet the dietary needs and food
preferences for an active and healthy life . This definition implies that food security has three

A study conducted by the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) puts the figure of
those living below poverty line in rural areas at over 40 million.
According to PIDE, in the surveys conducted in 2001, 2004 and in 2010, more than 50 per cent of
rural households in Punjab and Sindh qualified as poverty stricken for at least one period.
Poverty in rural Punjab and Sindh declined sharply from 29.5 per cent in 2001 to 21.8 per cent in
2004 but then jumped to 28 per cent in 2010.
The SDPI study reveals that the rural Balochistan has the highest incidence of poverty with three
quarters of its rural population (74 per cent) living below the poverty line. Urban poverty in
Balochistan is 29 per cent. The second highest rural urban disparity is found in Sindh where 46 per
cent rural households are poor compared to only 20 per cent urban households.
Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa also shows a similar pattern; 43 per cent rural households are poor
compared to 18 per cent urban households. The rural urban divide in Punjab is the lowest amongst
all the provinces as 28 per cent rural households are poor in contrast to only 10 per cent urban
households.
Although agriculture is at the heart of the rural economy, the majority of Pakistan s rural poor are
neither tenant farmers nor farm owners. Farmers (including both owners and tenants) comprised

Informative Essay On Marijuana
Jannys Ramos Lambert Professor Joe McDade English Composition 2 11 November 2014
Marijuana is a drug that people love and may hate. Weed produces a pleasurable feeling too many
people and to others it produces relief. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) the ingredient in marijuana that
produces the high, remains in the body for 2 to 4 weeks (Cary, 2006) Marijuana impairs attention
and coordination and slows reaction time, and these effects make operating complex machinery
such as an automobile dangerous, even after the feeling of intoxication has passed. Marijuana can
interfere with concentration, logical thinking, formation of new memories, and retrieval of stored

publicly. They have 10 days to notify the Minister of their acceptance of the recommendations. If
both parties accept the recommendations, they are binding. If one or both of the parties does
not indicate acceptance of the recommendations, the Labour Relations Board conducts a vote of
the party or parties that did not accept them. If the recommendations are rejected again after the
vote, the parties can continue negotiating a settlement on their own, or give a 72 hour notice to

(PET) In the case of an existing, or imminent strike or lockout, the provincial government has the
option to end a dispute by declaring a public emergency and referring the matter to a Public
Emergency Tribunal (PET), which is a form of compulsory arbitration. This is only used when a
dispute may result in damage to health or property (e.g., disruption of health services, water
plant, etc.) or unreasonable hardship is placed on persons not involved in the dispute. A time
period will be set during which the parties can meet on their own or with a government appointed
mediator to reach a settlement. If a settlement cannot be reached on or before the fixed date, the
dispute is referred to the PET. The PET process is initiated and the Minister fixes a deadline by
which the PET must issue a binding award.

The Combustion of Polymers
Introduction
The history of polymers stretch back millions of years. These primitive polymers were created by
nature to fulfill the needs of information storage, energy storage and information reproduction.
Human made polymers are a more recent invention, of the last two hundred years or so. These
polymers are general made of highly flammable hydrocarbons and their derivatives. Fires caused
by a combination of human careless and the physical properties of hydrocarbons have caused
millions of dollars in property damage and claimed an untold number of human lives. It is this fact
that has lead to scientists devoting time and resources to making polymers safer. In the following
paragraphs the mechanism behind burning polymers will be ... Show more content on

This dehydrates the polymer, forming the protective carbon layer. At higher temperatures the
phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species and can under go
polymerization to form polyphosphates. Which react with the cross linked species to form the
char layer. Borated species work the same way, they form a glassy surface that helps protect and
insulate the substrate. The final pathway that will be investigated is the suppression of radical
species in the reaction space. This is done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an
inorganic enhancer into the polymer. When the polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into
the gas phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this species
reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form hydrogen gas or water vapor, respectfully.
From this series of reactions the halogen radical is regenerated, where it reacts with either the
polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a
lower energy than either the hydrogen or oxygen radical species. The effectiveness of this method
is dependent on the halogen used. Bromine is the most common due to it narrow temperature
activation range. Chlorine is the next most common but due to a broad temperature range is not as
useful. Florine and

Perowne s Argumentative Essay
Another way in which Perowne changes is evident in the window scenes which demarcates the
disintegration of his invincibility. In the beginning, Perowne believes that to know the boundaries,
is the essence of sanity (2). Thriving on clear limits, Perowne seems myopically focused on the
confines of his home, car, and routine. His view is framed territorially as he looks out onto
Charlotte Street, towards a foreshortened jumble of façades, scaffolding and pitched roofs, Henry
thinks the city is a success, a brilliant invention, a biological masterpiece (3). To Perowne, London
is a fabricated entity, a manipulated ecosystem. From his perch, Perowne feels immune to the cold

Preventative measures are not good enough either: London, [Perowne s] small part of [the
world], lies wide open, impossible to defend, waiting for its bomb, like a hundred other cities
(286). Perowne, and by extension McEwan, conclude that the only effective response is love and
empathy. Mimicking adages cemented in posterity, McEwan imparts to his readers Arnold s
message in his final stanza that love is the only way to approach a darkling plain (291), a new era
of incertitude and tremendous possibilities. Empathy, as shown through Perowne s compassionate
response to Baxter s intrusion, functions as an imperative that people need to think beyond the
nearsighted landscape of the quotidien. Much like Perowne s nerve endings peeled and stripped

Examples Of Figurative Language In To An Athlete Dying Young
A. E. Housman was a well known poet of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Within his two
most famous publications, A Shropshire Lad and Last Poems, Housman effectively uses his adept
understanding of language, its usage, and style to portray the significant themes behind all of his
poems. To an Athlete Dying Young is a perfect example of Housman s ability to convey his
message to the reader through his use of diction, syntax, and tone. Writers make specific choices in
the type of words, sentence structures, phrases and figurative language that they use in their poetry.
These decisions combine to create particular meaning within their works. Housman uses a formal
diction in To an Athlete Dying Young which definitely creates a clear and

Background:
In BHEL VPI at Bhopal and at other brine handling from the storage tank is pumped to the
tankers. These tankers goes on varying in number and the output of the pump is controlled by
opening the recirculation valve which feeds back some of the oil back to the storage tank and in
this process, power consumption remains same irrespective of the number of tankers i.e. lot of
power wastes. This process is known as recirculation method. The capacity of the motor connected

Importance Of Uniformities
Uniformities have become inevitable in our society and are visually seen everywhere from the
way people dress, in architecture, language, behavior, etc. The concept of knowledge has been
developed and evolved around the existence of uniformities. Uniformity is defined as the quality
of lacking diversity or variation for which quality is similar or comparable in kind or nature. Due
to the increasing amount of uniformities, knowledge has expanded to major aspects of the world
and uniformity has become a vital role in our development of knowledge. Uniformities are a
major aspect of our lives that contribute to our way of communicating amongst each other.
However, uniformities have introduced a world without individuality, creativity, and personify and
evolving is the base of humans to advancing which is problematic since we advance knowledge
through imagination and developing. Uniformities have altered our mindset to how we come to
call knowledge and our manner of viewing things as objects. Knowledge frameworks are based on
uniformities which are based on the principles of reason, as a principle, is universal. Languageand
reason are the main crucial works of knowledge that manifest into various ways for accounting what
reason is, and the existence of many languages present among human beings. Both human science
and mathematics use language and reason as a way of collecting data in their observations and

Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation And Initiation Essay
Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation and Initiation
The small amount of breastfeeding intention research that exists focuses heavily on populations
considered at risk, referring to those in economically disadvantaged areas or lower wage earners
with lower educational backgrounds, often with lower maternal age and worse outcomes in the
birth process (Cabieses et al., 2014; Declercq et al., 2014; Holbrook et al., 2013; Li et al., 2005:
McInnes et al., 2001; Shaker et al., 2004). These studies show that women s attitudes regarding
breastfeeding create strong motivators for the intent to breastfeed. Those with positive associations
with breastfeeding are most likely to want to breastfeed and those with negative associations with
breastfeeding are most likely to choose not to breastfeed.
In studies where women were selected as the result of choosing not to breastfeed, researchers
found heightened levels of expressed personal reasons that reflected negative associations with
breastfeeding, including a lack of consistent education by hospital staff (Ogbuanu et al., 2009;
Shaker et al., 2004; Wirihana Barnard, 2011). Education in mixed method feedings was lacking at
all levels of intention to breastfeed, Geraghty et al. (2013) noted, even in a population study that
was based on respondents who wanted to breastfeed, and sought professional help for problems
while breastfeeding.
Intention is also linked to the expected success of breastfeeding, as indicated by Attanasio et al.

Competing Compromising, Avoiding, And Accommodating
The five conflict styles would include: competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, and
accommodating (Griffith Dunham, 2015, p.57). Competing occurs when there are not many
resources. This approach is considered a win lose ; A person may choose this approach on his own
without cooperating with anyone else (J.D., 2011).
Collaborative conflict is when you team up with someone else to achieve each other s goals (J.D.,
2011). By using this conflict you can end up with a win win situation. This conflict requires a lot of
trust among everyone involved (J.D., 2011).

2011). With compromising conflict no one achieves what they want. Compromising

What Is The Difference Between Our Generation And The Past...
If you have any history knowledge you can tell how different our generation is compared to the
past generations. We are rapidly maturing due to the progress in technology and it is impacting
the way we approach things. Our own expansion has been connected with the expansion of total
society, because we are expected of age and filling the roles that prior generations left us. The
way possessions worked back then keeps developing and we are exploring new ways to do
different things. This does not mean that one way is right or wrong or could have been best.
Some things have even decreased the rate society, while some things help it. Today we live in a
world where we expect everyone else to do things for us and we want things handed to us.Some
main differences include the way we communicate and live our day to day lives. In the 50 s,
they knew that the world nor no one in it had any obligation to them or anyone around them. No
one is going to do everything for you, it is your own responsibility to work for what you have
and make something of yourself. We don t want to do anything but we want recognition and it
has potentially ruined the way we go about life. We want things to be done for us and when
something requires just a little bit of work we tend to just give up. Back then, they had this idea
of what was best and that was going to high school and then a job with full benefits and everyone
was okay with that so that is how they lived. Back then it was the father s job to

The Implementation Plan For A New Outlook From Local...
The implementation plan indicates modifications made from the original plan, to add local business
owners. This modification will give a new outlook from local business owners and benefit the
community. For example, the local business owners can anticipate damages from disaster and offer
insight on the impacts during pre disaster planning.
The implementation plan will support the community plan by; historical management, prioritizing,
and community support. By looking at Arkansas history of disaster, strategies can be developed to
decrease the impacts. In the past Arkansas, the federal government has paid out disaster aid of
over one billion and 120 million dollars. By prioritizing tasks by the most important to the least
important, Little Rock can better plan to cover a total of 152,000 buildings.
By implementing these factors will increase community satisfaction and promote community
development; which will increase volunteers and community support.
Implementing these strategies and procedures will increase our communities chance for survival
and decrease the impacts of disasters. We need this modification in our mitigation process within
three months, since this will reduce potential lose and increase community satisfaction.

Wearable Technologies And Mobile Ehealth Applications
Wearable technologies and mobile eHealth applications have becomes very popular in the recent

health by having more access to information and the ability to look up their record without having

Design is a huge factor when deploying wearable technologies and eHealth systems. Unless there
is a good design that is not bulky and is easy to use, users will not want to adopt the new product.
The second barrier is data collection, with the rise of wearable technology and eHealth
applications the collection of data has been increasing. Data collection is the center of all
applications and wearables. How is data being used or what is the company storing? This is a
huge barrier due to the fact that more people are becoming aware of their personal privacy. With
phones your GPS is tracked unless specifically turned off and you are able to get a workout at a
click of a button. But with all of this data being collected, are companies only using it for your
personal use or are they using it for another matter (Hooge, 2015)? Data collection is a barrier
due to the fact that people do not know what the companies are using the data for. Most users of
the wearables or eHealth applications do not own their data, the data is instead stored and
collected by the companies. Users only get provided with a summary of the data collected while
the company has free reign to do whatever they please with it. With the increase of people
understanding their privacy and rights, it provides a barrier with wearables and eHealth
applications as people want to understand how their data is being used (Piwek, Ellis,

The Galileo Controversy
The 17th century was full of challenges to the authority of the Catholic Church. Many of these
challenges were indirectly related to the Church s power, as they indicted the Church s teachings
rather than its authority. Those who disagreed with the Church formulated various theories that
were oppositional to those of the Church. In 1609,
Galileo made a revolutionary discovery. He utilized a telescope to gaze into the night sky, and found
that the sun was located at the center of the solar system. Furthermore, he found that the planets
revolved around the sun. These findings were against popular belief and that of the Church. Galileo
promoted his theory of heliocentrism through various writings and conversations with individuals,
but in 1633, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, in a private letter to the Duchess of Tuscany in 1615, Galileo defended his beliefs,
expressing that he did not believe that the same God who has given senses, reason and intellect has
intended for [them] to not use them. However, upon a closer reading of this evidence, one finds
that Galileo never opposed his alleged heresy in the letter. The weakness in this evidence is that
it defends Galileo s beliefs, contending that they may be true, but never addresses how it
interacts with the beliefs of the Church. Even if this letter were a perfect source, it would still not
be able to show that Galileo was not a heretic because Galileo never rejects the fact that his belief
was different from the belief of the Church. A heretic is one whose beliefs are at odds with the
teachings of the Church, which means that even if Galileo was correct in saying that the sun was at
the center of the universe, he was still a heretic for believing in a theory contrary to one taught by
the Church. These alternative pieces of evidence fail to definitively show that Galileo was not a

Currently, there is no effective way to treat such injuries. In this initial study, we demonstrate that a

Analysis of Bertrand RussellВґs The Problems of Philosphy...
06455401
1)
The philosopher Bertrand Russell in his work, The Problems of Philosophy, comes to some
conclusions of the truth of objects in our world. Through questioning certain ideas and problems in
our world, he breaks down what can know what really exists in the world and what does not.
Russell, an empiricist, believes that through our sensory perception of our environment. However,
our own individual perception can be skewed, and therefore is susceptible to err. Russell gives
an example of three people, one is color blind, one is sick, and one is inebriated sick, and one is
inebriated, and ask them to describe the same chair, they will all give you slightly different
answers. Then if you take that chair and put it behind a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This consistency proposes to Russell, that we, at least, must have faith in the reality of a single,
specific, real chair. To this commonsensible belief, he also goes on to propose the idea that real
objects cause the sense data we intake, so therefore must be related to them in a certain
noteworthy way. So from this what can we believe and not believe to exist? Well first of all we
can believe that, if we are looking at the chair, we can conclude the object itself is real, there is a
chair there. Our senses take in the sense data of a chair, four legs, a back rest, etc. We then take
this data and use our prior knowledge of other chair like things, and we can come to the solution
of the object we are looking at is a chair. This logic applies to all objects in such a manner.
However we cannot truly believe that certain things truly exists. Such as the fact that we cannot
truly believe the existence of certain characteristics of an objects when it s subject outside
influence, such as a chair in water. To the naked eye, the chair would look distorted, but it is not
so, the water distorts our perception of the chair, therefore deceiving our view of the reality of the
characteristics of the chair. In conclusion, Russell gives us an answer to the question, if our senses
can be easily deceived and tricked into perceiving and reality that is false, how can we believe it

Perspectives on the Book of Job Essay
The Book of Job is one of the three books in the Hebrew bible whose genre is described as
wisdom literature.1 Certainly the Book of Job satisfies the literary conventions that qualify a
biblical book for such status. 2 Yet Job may be associated with wisdom in a much more literal
sense. The Book of Job attempts to deal with a problematic question that confronts suffering
humanity: why do bad thingshappen to good people? The variety and vehemence of commentators
contemporary responses to this chapter of the Bibleis testament to the continued relevance of the
Book of Job s wisdom thousands of years after it was written. Although the commentators examined

As always, God tests those human beings to whom he is close and whom he loves. 8 It is
unclear whether Buber bases the preceding statement on his personal opinion or on the biblical
text. Buber points out that Job s plaintive cries constitute a form of prayer, and in fact cement his
relationship with God. Buber concludes that Job passed God s test, successfully bore witness to
his God 9 and has the eternal mission of serving God. One comes away from Buber with the
impression that both God s behavior and Job suffering are morally justified.
In contrast to Buber s vindication of God s role and glorification of Job s suffering, C. G. Jung
excoriates God for his crimes 10 in an excerpt from Answer to Job11. Setting an irreverent tone,
Jung begins by stating that God s thunderings... completely miss the point 12 by failing to address
Job s questions, demonstrating God s self absorption. Jung points out that God s self aggrandizing
diatribe only makes sense if directed towards a doubting thought , which can only be Satan. Jung
suggests that God has turned his verbal displeasure on Job rather than Satan in order to avoid facing
the fact that he was duped by Satan into sanctioning the punishment of his most faithful follower.
Job realizes that the self centered God speaking from the whirlwind has no interest in Job s rights,
and thus Job has no choice but to retract his demand for justice 13 and submit to the divine

Emerson s opinion on history in his essay History is thought provoking. Emerson often views
history as a prevalent or universal mind . This universal mind is common and accessible to all
men. History is often viewed as the record of the universal mind and is also contained in that
universal mind. Therefore, Emerson is able to say, Man is explicable by nothing less than all his
history . Emerson tends to believe in a certain relation between the hours of a lifetime and the
centuries of the time itself. If one thinks history is something that happened in the past, one is
mistaken. History is very similar to nature in a way. It is the universal nature which gives worth to
particular men and things. In nature there is an endless variety of things, but ... Show more content

Bringing historical to a personal level is a great way to make it relevant, and turn it from
studying the dates to the actual ideas of the people and what they valued. A mans experiences in
life are facts that he stores. Knowledge and one s life experiences are better than looking it up in a
book. An example of Emerson s universal mind is when he says, Of the Universal mind each
individual man is one more incarnation. This means that every man can contain their divine
idiosyncrasy. All of their idiosyncrasies are divined by nature, not by their personal beliefs or
choices. This interpretation is possible because there is within us the same motive that has came
from other men s thought. We are able to understand their motives through our own understanding
of the reactions to our

J. L Granatstein s Who Killed Canadian History
I will be examining J. L. Granatstein book Who Killed Canadian History? on its general concept
and solution of the problem at hand. First and foremost, it is important readers know who
Granatstein is because it will explain why he writes so passionately about Canadian history.
Granatstein is one of the most recognized Canadian historians and authors, who have written an
impressive total of 45 books. Along with writing many books regarding Canada, he has won
many awards in regards to his work such as the UBC Medal for Canadian Biography, the J. B.
Tyrrell Historical Gold Medal, the Vimy Award, and the Order of Canada. His academic
achievements include honorary degrees from Memorial University and the University of Calgary.
He is also a well known... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I figured it was appropriate that the author did not place the blame on one party. Instead, he
addressed the various individuals in Canada that were not providing a fair education in its national
and political history as well as for the reasons why this is such a big deal. This book was
educational as it gave readers brief and sometimes precise examples, like how Canadians lack
national and political conscience within the academic curriculum. The Country s educational
system needs to do a better job training its educators and ultimately restructuring curriculums to
deal with our current problems. The book s exterior appearance is bright red, and often red, is
associated with power. I believe that this book has the authority to make readers think about their
experience concerning Canadian history but unfortunately, a majority of the population does not
know enough of its history to learn from the mistakes and successes of our predecessors. Along
with the strengths of this book (argumentative perspective, educational, and exterior appearance),
there were a few weaknesses as well. To elaborate on Granasteins effort, I believe he wrote from an
androcentric perspective. There were times when he sounded like a grumpy old historian man. I
think his little rants reduced the effectiveness of the book. He made many prejudice remarks
concerning multiculturalism and social history (gender studies, urban, economics, demographics,
etc.). Since history is an accumulation of time periods and each period varies in length, and the
intensity of the events, it might be tough to establish the nation s needs for clear, measurable
standards for history. There is only so much information that an individual s brain can retain for a
period before they start losing

Transferable Skills
What are Transferable Skills?
We all have learned abilities and natural abilities. Learned abilities are our skills and natural
abilities are our talents. So what are Transferable skills or job related skills? Simply put,
transferable skills are the skills and abilities you have acquired during any activity in your life
your jobs, classes, projects, volunteer work, parenting, hobbies, sports, virtually anything that are
applicable to what you want to do in your next job. Learned abilities are skills you develop
throughout your life and can apply to a variety of situations. An example would be the ability to
coordinate multiple tasks. Job related skills are skills that you use while in a particular job. An

Why Negotiations Occur Within An Organization
Introduction This research paper pursues two aims. First is to illustrate why negotiations occur
within an organization. This will be done through examining the dimensionality of negotiation and
dispute resolution. Second is to address some of the challenges of negotiating. Included as a part of
this, is an analysis of the different tones and styles to adopt when negotiating, which may aid
towards overcoming these challenges. The main aim of this research is to outline the issues and
broadly develop the argument and evidence in support of each party s position towards trying to
achieve a win win solution. Abstract Negotiation occurs as a resolution process towards managing
conflict effectively and efficiently within an organization.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First type of employment contract Conflict may also bear as a result of the very nature of the work
organization, a battle of ideas that takes place where implications may occur. This perspective is
relevant to a debate surrounding the promotion of the psychological contract, which is seen as the
perception of the two parties, employee and employer, of what their mutual obligations are towards
each other (Guest, D. and Conway, N.). The psychological contract consists of the expectations that
employees have with their employing organizations. The implications of this are implicit. The
complexity of this contract leaves room for misinterpretations, however, ensuring that the terms and
conditions have been made clear through open and honest discussions with mutual expectations and
obligations will limit the conflict. Second type of employment contract The other type of contract,
the employment relationship, Kevin Kelloway explains as, a form of work that is performed under
contractual arrangements that involves material rewards (Kelloway, K.). This allows for a level of
managerial control towards forming the fundamental link between desired outcomes and actual
processes. Entering into an employment relations, the employer buys the employees capabilities to
work, known as, labour power, this takes the notion of Marx s formulation. Whereby he developed

The National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA)
Introduction
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has been a driving force in both
research and industry through advancing technologies and defining the future through innovation.
This government agency specifically has four mission directorates to organize various fields of
study and to further propel the spread of knowledge: Aeronautics Research, Human Exploration and
Operations, Science, and Space Technology. Specifically under the Aeronautics Research Mission
Directorate (ARMD) is the Advanced Air Vehicle Program (AAVP), whose goal is to enable the
United States continual success as a leader in aeronautics, economic competitiveness, and job
creation in the aerospace industry. Additionally, the AAVP is a host to five... Show more content on

A noteworthy concern is ice accretion and shedding, which has negatively affected both aircraft
and rotorcraft for many decades. The goal of the de icing project is to advance the safe operation
of helicopters and other rotary wing vehicles while flying in such conditions. This is in
accordance with NASA s goal to further develop rotorcraft technology to create a safer form of
transportation. Research is being conducted at the NASA Glenn Icing Research Tunnel to help
achieve this goal. While a majority of the published research and theory about rotorcraft icing
was performed between the late 1980s and today, more research still needs to be conducted to
fully understand the effects of icing on rotorcraft. Currently, there are only a few indoor
facilities capable of performing icing tests such as the NASA Glenn Icing Research Tunnel and
the AERTS facility at Penn State. Attempts at analytically modeling ice accretion and shedding
events have been performed successfully for fixed wing aircraft, but there is still a need for
development and validation of prediction tools for ice shedding off of rotorcraft blades. There is
currently no reliable methods to accurately determine the size and shape of shed ice from photos
or videos of experiments, along with the ability to accurately predict trajectories of the ice
particles. By developing tools to predict how and under what conditions ice

Apollo 13, By Jeffrey Kluger And James Lovell
For my NHD project the objective was on Apollo 13. I choose this topic because Apollo 13 had
problems with their space craft on the way to the moon, a never made it there. I also like this
topic because it tells me how engineers aren t always perfect, and the can have flaws. Lost Moon:
The perilous voyage of Apollo 13, by Jeffrey Kluger and James Lovell .In April 1970 during the
glory days of the Apollo space program, NASA sent navy captain Jim Lovell and two other
astronauts on America s seventh mission to the moon. Only fifty five hours into the mission when
disaster struck. A mysterious explosion rocked the ship and soon its oxygen and power began to
drain away. Commander Lovell and his crew watched in alarm as the cockpit grew darker, the air
grew thinner, and the instruments winked out one by one.
The space crew was scared not knowing what to do or what would happen, their lives were at
risk. They didn t now the possibilities or the outcomes, as they sat in the rocket waiting to see what
would happen, while they still went spinning around the moon. Thirteen: The Apollo 13 Flight
That Failed, by Henry Cooper. On the evening of April 13, 1970 the three astronauts were just
hours from the third lunar landing in history, but as they soared through space two hundred
thousand miles from earth an explosion, badly damaged their space craft with compromised
engines an failing life support systems the crew was incomparably grave danger faced with below

Norma Rae and Labor Issues
The movie Norma Rae is about a southern mill worker who helps revolutionize and unionize a
small town. The conditions at the southern cotton textile factory were intolerable and
management was abusive. In the summer of 1978, a union organizer from New York came to
this small town and approached the employees at the cotton factory to start a union. The union
organizer, the mill workers and the management of the factory had very different perspectives as
to the ramifications of starting a union. PERSPECTIVE OF THE UNION ORGANIZER
Warshovsky was a New York City operative who came to the cotton factory to help the employees
organize a union. He knew from his experience that it was not going to be an easy task but he

The mill workers felt that they simply did not have any other options and feared the punitive steps
management would take if they unionized. Indeed, this appeared to be the case. When several
employees expressed a tentative interest in the union, management reduced their work days, and,
consequently, their pay. The mill s management used many other scare tactics to try and persuade
employees to reject the union. Opinion turned when working conditions directly contributed to the
death of an employee. This employee had not felt well and requested some time to rest. The
supervisor rejected his request and the employee subsequently died at his workplace. Following this
incident, which clearly demonstrated the poor condition of their employment, many employees
began to express an interest in the union. Until that point the workers did not feel that they had a
chance of making a difference. The lack of education and management intimidation had their
desired effect until they realized that unionization was their only opportunity for a better work
environment. They took their chances and worked hard to unionize. PERSPECTIVE OF
MANAGEMENT The mill s owners and managers had little impetus to change the way in which
they had always conducted business and treated employees. With limited employment options in the
area, the majority of the people who lived in the town were mill employees. This was

The Basic Elements Of Instruction
On average a high school class period last for a duration of forty five to sixty minutes. Ensuring that
the students receive the most education out of this short amount of time is essential to their
academic success. To do this, it is necessary to understand and be able to apply the essential
elements of instruction. According to educational researcher Barak Rosenshine, there are six
essential elements of explicit instruction; Review, presentation, guided practice, correction
/feedback, independent practice, and regular reviews.
The first step in successful instruction is a review of previous lessons. This review should include
knowledge that is relevant to the new skill. Reviewing previous material verifies that all students
have mastered the skills that they need in order to be successful in learning the new skill. Since
these skills should be previously mastered the review should be straightforward and short. A
majority of the time the review is embedded in homework that is then gone over at this time. This
not only provides the teacher with proof of mastery from the students, but also provides feedback
to the students in a timely manner. The review is essential to instruction because without it there
would be a decrease in academic learning time and will result in a reduction of content coverage
and high levels of success. Subsequently, the teacher would proceed with the lesson only to realize
that the students are unable to learn the new skill due to a high frequency of

For example, with the advancement of season one materials into season two, season one will be
repeated. Similarly, at the beginning of season three, procedures started during seasons two and
one will also be repeated, and so on. Therefore, it will take four seasons to completely populate
all phases of the new organic focused small grain breeding programs. For some promising crosses
single seed descent (SSD) will be used to quickly develop homozygous lines that will be selected,
and seed along to enter them into preliminary yield trials (PYT).
Disease resistance (Fhb1, Fhb6, Fhb5A) and grain quality (Dx5+Dy10 subunits of Glu D1) will be
rapidly improved in available wheat lines performing well under organic production but lacking
resistance or acceptable quality. Marker assisted/genomic assisted selection will be utilized for
these traits. In oat, frequent changes in crown rust races significantly reduce the life span of
major resistance genes, and new sources of resistance are often overcome less than 5 years after
the release of new cultivars. While several major genes for resistance to crown rust will be
combined in new germplasm, an emphasis will also be placed to develop germplasm with
horizontal resistance (involving multiple genes with minor effects) to provide more durable
resistance against oat crown rust.

The Feudal Life Of Vassals
Vassals were the very important nobles of the feudal system ranking directly after the king.
Vassals had to swear in an oath of fealty and an oath of homage to serve the king. To become the
overlords man , they have to join the overlord in an oath of loyalty . The vassal promises to his
overlord that he will be loyal and never displease him as long as he is treated fairly (Nardo 18).
This oath is a very crucial part of the vassal s life which marks the beginning of his devotion to the
king. When the vassal completed the oath, he officially had many jobs from the overlord he
obliged to. The oath marked the militaryand social needs that he began to take authority of (Nardo

The Cold War Between America And The Soviet Union Between...
In studying International Relations, I have realized that, the nature of International politics can be
likened to anarchy. This is because in International relations there seems to be no supreme or
overriding authority which establishes and maintains rules or laws in international affairs. All
States appear to behave in their own interests.
A typical case of study is the Cold War. From my understanding, the Cold War describes the
relationship between America and the Soviet Union between 1945 and 1980. During this period,
neither sides ever fought each other directly, but indirectly they influenced other countries through
their ideologies (i.e. America s democracy and Russia s communism) to war. For example, America
supplied weapons to South Vietnam (anti communist) to war with North Vietnam (pro communist),
who were also supported and supplied weapons by China/Russia. Also with Afghanistan,
Americans helped them after the Soviet Union invaded in 1979 by supplying them with weapons
to war, without physically involving themselves. This portrays that, in the absence of a supreme
power to regulate law in International relations, the system will not be able to provide any public
good, in this case, PEACE among states. However, to some extent they do. To achieve this peace,
both realists and liberals have outlined various factors that facilitate this provision among States.
For liberals, peace among states can be achieved through economic cooperation, democratic peace

Ww1 Trench Description
Machine guns firing overhead, artillery shells raining down, drowning out the hellish screams
of soldiers as they gasp for their last breath. Boys, not quite old enough to be men, lay lifeless in
the barb wired filled No Man s Land. Long gone are the days of traditional warfare. There is no
honour, no glory there are only two things that remain: life and death. The scene in World War 1
was one of gruesome battles of attrition fought in bloody, disease ridden trenches where hundreds
of thousands of troops gave their lives to simply gain a kilometer or two of land. The First World
War was a culmination of technologies developed over the previous century which resulted in an

Artillery is estimated to have caused 60% of all wounds, showing the effectiveness of this
dangerous new technology. The main targets of artillery strikes were rarely infantry themselves,
rather machine guns, German trenches and German fortifications. A common perception among
French generals was Artillery conquers and infantry occupies. With the creation of the Canadian
Counter Battery Office (CCBO) this new technology was effectively employed for one of the first
times at Vimy Ridge. As part of a four phase plan, March 20th marked the commencing of the
artillery strikes on German trenches with twenty four artillery brigades consisting of 480 eighteen
pounders, 138 4.5inch howitzers, ninety six two inch trench mortars, and twenty four massive 9.45
inch trench mortars. During this phase, the gunners were highly successful knocking out many
German batteries, many of which identified by aerial photography. Phase two began on April 2nd,
with the intensity of the attacks increasing; they tried to maintain constant bombardment of the
Germans to prevent them from rebuilding defences or receiving supplies. The later two phases of
the plan started on April 9th and consisted of the creeping barrage to follow troops, as well as
artillery support moving up at the pace of the soldiers. This artillery doctrine developed by
McNaughton was devastating to the Germans. It combined reconnaissance and precision strikes to
weaken defences and sever supply lines, while attacking enemy battery positions with tactical
timing based on the stage of the

40 Kos Case Study
Shane Mosley (48 9 1, 40 KOs) seems to be experiencing a kind of nostalgic episode in his life as
the former three division world champion recently declared that he wants to fight arguably the
most popular but olden boxers of the moment: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48 0, 26 KOs), Manny
Pacquiao (57 6 2, 38 KOs), Miguel Cotto (40 4, 33 KOs), or Juan Manuel Marquez (56 7 1, 40
KOs), as reported by BoxingNews 24.
Merely hearing the names of these five great boxers felt like looking in a boxing museum, and
Mosley appears to be wanting to re live his glory days after the 43 year old s sixth round knockout
win over fellow aged fighter Ricardo Mayorga just last weekend.

Pacquiao. I m on that level. I m still on that level.
The former welterweight and light middleweight lineal champion seemed to have copied the Pac
Man s injury excuse as he also claimed that he was injured when he fought Mayweather and
Pacquiao in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Mosley lost to both men via 12 round unanimous decisions.
Mosley is one of a handful of veteran boxers today who are attempting at a career comeback at a
very advanced age.

Coast Guard Case Summary
1.Current Coast Guard policy, reference (a), relies entirely on the Decedent Affairs Officer
(DAO) as a collateral duty. This responsibility for coordinating support services related to active
duty, reserve and dependents deaths is extremely time consuming and detracts from a DAO s
normal duties. The lack of a full time DAO to provide assistance to the family or next of kin
(NOK) is stressful and emotionally draining on the individual. The Decedent Affairs Officer needs
to be streamlined into a full time position under the command of the Personnel Service Center

The financial responsibility of funding a case initially falls on the DAO s unit. The average
DAO case costs $10k $13k dollars. This cost expenditure has the potential to affect unit readiness
or meeting mission requirements if funds are unavailable for other critical needs. Unit funds
will not be reimbursed from headquarters until all expenses have been expended and paid out.
This can take anywhere from 10 days to several weeks depending on the circumstances of the
members death. Requiring the unit to operate on a negative budget due to no fault of their own
is unacceptable and irresponsible. 5.Opponents will argue the Coast Guard can t afford to hire
new personnel. Almost certainly true, so use active duty personnel and make DAO a special
assignment. Make it a two year tour with a priority 3 assignment due to the sensitive nature of
the position. This will provide a full time billet as well as offer challenging opportunities and
some sea going rates may see it as an opportunity to get an ashore assignment. 6.Some may argue
nothing is wrong with the current process. Just because that is the way we have always done it,
doesn t mean its right. There is always room for improvement. Funding issues for individual units
would be alleviated as all funeral costs would be funded by PSC directly instead of having to
reimburse the unit after the fact. This would ensure unit readiness and funds availability for critical

  • 2. Defense Of Hayek s Spontaneous Order In Defense of Hayek s Spontaneous Order: The Infrangible Relationship of Consumers to Supply and Demand What is the problem we wish to solve when we try to construct a rational economic order? This is the integral question posed by Friedrich A. Hayek in his scholarly article, The Use of Knowledge in Society. And it is the heart of his argument in favor of spontaneous order, the theory that systems, such as markets, naturally correct themselves, and function best without human intervention. Gleaned from Adam Smith s Invisible Hand, Hayek s belief was that society evolved from a spontaneous order which was the result of human action but not of human design (Barry). Political philosopher Norman Barry (1982) explored the importance of the theory of spontaneous order, noting that the institutions and practices it investigates reveal well structured social patterns, whichappear to be a product of some omniscient designing mind yet which are in reality the spontaneous coordinated outcomes of the actions of, possibly, millions of individuals who had no intention of effecting such overall aggregate orders. Hayek believed in the value of collective knowledge and alluded to its intangible force which, he stated, had the capacity to effectively drive and regulate social affairs as well as economic markets. Spontaneous order, he wrote, was a peculiar phenomenon that, when dissected, yielded information that could be studied and mimicked, but not replicated. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Caitlyn Jenner Speech Analysis Communication is a process that allows us to construct identities based on the interpretation and intention of speech acts. Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, spent most her life identified by her master identity as a cis white male and until a few years ago she adopted the interactional identity of a transgender female. In this paper, I will demonstrate how various forms of speech acts build, remain and/or change the master and interactional identity of Caitlyn Jenner as well as her relationships to others. To do so I will explain how Caitlyn Jenner seeks advice from her close family member Scott Disick to help her understand the variety of speech acts coming from both her private and public life: ranging from Scott who demonstrate faceredress and accept her based on her new interaction identity as a female, while also dealing with the face threats that come from those (particularly males) who only see her as her previous master identity as a male. To start, in lines 1 and 4 Caitlyn seeks to understand the perspective that guy s have on her transition, in both lines she draws out the word guy to emphasize her lack of understanding on how males think. She notes that she s struggled with it (male s perspective) even though contextually she had the master identity of a male the majority of her life, she has always struggled with the standards that come with that identity and that still remains. Therefore, she seeks the perspective of a close male in her family to provide her with that outlook. In contrast, Scott, who possess the master identity of a male and also accepts it as an interactional identity chooses to influx and draw out the word me in line 7 in his account that not every male will be comfortable with her change in identity because while he notes that he is comfortable with her change in line 24, he also draws out the word every to signify that he is inferring that male perspectives are not always homogenous and he does this by using an upward intonation of I to highlight the contrast which is prevalent through his tone change between both words. Additionally, in line 25, Caitlyn utilizes the example of Kris Humphries tweet that was an indirect face threat about her transition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. How Did Robert Peary Achieve His Goals To move forward in life, our main focus should be conquering our fears and achieving our goals. Robert Peary is a great example of this. On April 6, 1909, Peary conquered the world and achieved his lifetime goal of reaching the top of the world, the North Pole. He prepared for this goal all of his life, through school and work after college. He did much research and took many voyages to explore. He did not reach the Pole on his first try, but he persevered. After many long journeys and great challenges, he finally achieved his goal and made his mark on the world. We should work just as hard as Robert Peary did to overcome challenges in life and achieve our goals. Robert Peary was born on May 6, 1856, in Cresson, Pennsylvania. He later moved... Upon his return, he discovered that Frederick Cook, a man who had accompanied Peary on one of his earlier expeditions, was claiming to have reached the North Pole a year earlier that him. Peary was stripped of his glory until two Eskimos who were with Cook on his journey revealed Cook s photographic evidence to be fake. The photos were said to have been taken a long way from the Pole. After a Congressional inquiry in 1911, Peary was once again declared the first to reach the North Pole. Cook was eventually imprisoned for another scandal concerning an oil well swindle. All was well; Cook received what he deserved, and Peary got the recognition his great achievement warranted. After losing eight toes to the Arctic cold and aging prematurely because so much time spent in the harsh Arctic climate, Peary s dream was officially realized. Because his life goal had been attained, Peary was able to die in peace, which he did on February 20, 1920. His life was cut short due to health issues caused by the Arctic cold. He was then buried with his wife Josephine in a place of honor in Arlington Cemetery. His companion Matthew Henson was later buried next to Peary and his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Urban Suburbs In California California Suburbs California is a state with a lifestyle and identity all its own. One factor contributing to California s unique singularity is the lay out of its cities and suburban areas. Unlike many metropolitan areas, which built up, California spread out, creating a commuter culture of loosely connected communities surrounding larger cities and urban areas. The popularization of suburban neighborhoods gained prominence and momentum in the 1950s, following World War II,and the influx of veterans returning home and starting families. That decade s economic growth, attributed to government spending on the construction of interstate highways and schools, the distribution of veterans benefits and the increase in military spending, left Californians with high wages and low unemployment and inflation (The 1950s). These circumstances, combined with the ingenuity of new developers regarding the layout, construction and affordability of economically built homes, spear headed the creation of suburban communities in California. With thousands of new homes being built and purchased and hundreds of people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In less than 10 months, over 7,400 houses were sold (Waldie). The availability of the homes and the ease in which individuals could receive loans enticed hundreds of first time home buyers. For many banks, the only prerequisites for qualifying for a loan was that they had a steady job and their promise to keep up with the mortgage payments (Waldie). The location of the suburban communities was also appealing to Californians. The distance of homes from the congestion of the cities created a commuter based lifestyle, supported by the railroads and the influx and popularity of new automobiles (Starr). Many people preferred the separation of the communities from the hustle and bustle of the overcrowded cities and they enjoyed the remote locations of suburbs and the operation from urban ... • 7. Letter From A Birmingham Jail By Martin Luther King Jr Human Rights Activist, Martin Luther King Jr, in his letter, Letter from a Birmingham Jail , writes to the public, justifying his actions against segregation. King s purpose is to convey the idea that segregation is morally wrong in all senses. He displays a disciplined, yet exasperated manner while referencing historical and biblical events, to show society how segregation is inhuman. King begins his letter to the clergymen of Birmingham by comparing his actions to that of biblical figures, seeking social justice. He appeals to the audience s religious beliefs by paralleling the actions taken place. Stating Just as the prophets of the eight century B.C. left their villages and carried their thus saith the Lord far beyond the boundaries of their hometowns, and just as the Apostle Paul left his village of Tarus and carried the gospelof Jesus Christ to the far corners of the Greco Roman world, so am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid. He furthermore clarifies that with a nonviolent social tension, the discrimination will be brought into full view of society. He demonstrates this by stating, Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the mind so that individuals could rise from the bondage of myths and half truths to the unfettered realm of creative analysis and objective appraisal, so must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind ... • 8. Lisa Sherman Case Analysis Essay Lisa Sherman Case Analysis: October 2010 Summary: Lisa Sherman worked for Verizon for many years. While there she never revealed her sexual orientation .Then one fated day, there was a diversification workshop with her fellow managers. The outcome of this was that her coworkers were bigoted towards homosexuality. Lisa Sherman had a tough decision to make, whether to stay or to leave. The following analysis shows a suggested solution. Lisa Sherman Case Analysis: Lisa Sherman spent many years not being true to who she was. She never told her coworkers that she was gay during her 15 years at Verizon Communications. Then, the company decided they wanted to hold diversity training. This is what led Lisa Sherman to the tough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She felt that if she were to tell anyone it would affect her career, which allegedly proved to be a correct assumption, from the comments that her co workers made. One of the most homophobic individuals turned out to be one of Lisa s mentors. In essence, the people Lisa had been closest to turned out to be bigoted individuals. When deciding what to do, Lisa needs to be sure it is in the best interest of her needs. Since she has been with the same company for 15 years, and quickly worked her way up, she probably has a myriad of opportunities waiting for her. She can inform the CEO Ray Smith of her sexual orientation, as he wants the company to become more progressive and would (allegedly) not be bothered by her sexuality. However, the rest of her coworkers still feel that Gay people are immoral, disgusting people. Even if the CEO did not mind her sexuality, her coworkers would still see her in a different light. I feel the best decision that Lisa can make is to look for different work, with a more open, progressive company, then resign from Verizon. This decision would allow her time to get her finances in order. However, if she had a large savings, then the best decision would be to resign immediately, because being around such bigoted individuals would cause her undue stress, and her performance may be affected. If Lisa Sherman chooses to resign, since the CEO Ray ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Cullen s Incident The poem, Incident is a part of Cullen s book called Color , which clearly portrays the racism shown among the blacks, even among the children. The transition from innocence to experience may also be seen in the poem My Last Duchess by Robert Browning. It starts off with the innocence of a young child most likely riding on a subway who makes eye contact with another young boy on the same car. Though neither is described to be older or smaller than the other boy. Cullen goes on to say that from May until December of all the things that had happened, this incident was the only thing he could remember. The tone in the poem quickly goes from a highly optimistic attitude of the boy towards the city then turns to a depressing tone a because of that one word. The poet clearly explains that racismis painful and no matter at what age you may have to face it, it leaves a scar in their minds for a lifetime. When the word which is quoted is uttered by the other boy a separation is brought upon that people of that time couldn t look past. Their first judgments of another person came from their first look and the impression they are able to conceive at that moment. This impression in most cases during the time was very prejudiced. • 12. Pros And Cons Of A Flat Tax System The modern concept of a flat tax was popularized by Stephen Forbes in his 1996 presidential campaign when he proposed a universal income tax rate of 17 percent. Republicans have been advocating for a flat tax plan ever since and the latest crop of presidential hopefuls eclipsed by Donald Trump, proposed similar plans. Ted Cruz was talking about a flat 10 percent while Bush, Huckabee, Carson, Rubio and Rand Paul all had similar ideas. The 2016 Republican nominee, Donald Trump, also advocates for a reduction in taxbrackets closely resembling a flat tax rate, since he is a reported billionaire. (Shlaes, 2015) The current tax system employs a progressive tax rate, which means the percentage of income taxed rises with the amount earned. Currently, earners who made up to $8,375 paid ten percent while those who made more than $373,650 paid the top rate of 35 percent. Under the progressive tax system, a taxpayer pays a base rate on the first dollar earned and rates rise as earnings rise so that making more money means moving into a higher tax bracket. In a flat tax system, top earners pay more in dollars but pay at the same percentage rate. (Shlaes, 2015) History: There have been two instances of a flat tax being levied in the United States, both times utilized to respond to a major crisis. Both times, the flat tax revenue was never actualized. The first time was in 1861 at the onset of the Civil War and the Lincoln Administration s need to finance the war effort. Until then, ... Also, his return to the past as one would say has helped him to have a place in the future. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and Yeats was educated there and in London as well. The young man was very immersed into the barren mountains, and in the mythology and the legends of Ireland. From the Poetry Foundation stated, He belonged to the Protestant, Anglo Irish minority that had controlled the economic, political, social, and cultural life of Ireland since at least the end of the 17th century. Next, the second message from Yeats Sailing, is what is really living. The idea is that as soon as you were born you were dying. Which asks the question of what is really living. Some people see a soul dragging around a corpse. Your soul wants to get out and be free. From the five life changing thoughts stated, We have an ego, a personality, a history, preferences, dislikes, beliefs, opinions, cultural viewpoints, and experiences. These ingredients comprise our person and our worldly sense of self. But beneath all of these human ingredients lies one which is the foundation of all of them. Without this ingredient, this avatar would not exist. This ingredient is the soul. For me really living is doing things that make you happy. Because in life a person is going to make mistakes and not be perfect but it s how you learn from them and how you make your life better from the experience you had. From Sailing, Yeats, lines 21 25, Consume my heart away; sick with desire and fastened to a dying animal. It knows not what it is; and gather me into the artifice of eternity. All good things must die but it s about how you live and some may say that right as you are born you are dying. But, if you look in a optimistic or pessimistic view that s up to you. Businesses that go online increase their opportunities to reach their target market and is cost effective when compared with other forms of marketing. It creates opportunities, benefits and challenges for a business but in the long run is worth it for the added publicity and hopefully profits. If the images were not shown then this could lose sales from customers that are unsure of what they wish to purchase. This is also an opportunity for the customers to find the preferred item or new ones that look like an improvement to their usual brand. Originally Tesco used to be only in store, by expanding their services online they have created many benefits and opportunities that have changed the way they sell and do business. They are able to communicate easier with their customers, provide an excellent service to their customers and further promote the business with efficiency. Section Three: Task Two (P5) Efficient Achieving maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense. п‚ѕThe internet helps Tesco to be efficient as they can collect orders in advance and prepare for them. Comparing War Poems Essays Comparing War Poems Died of Wounds and Suicide in the Trenches are two poems, which I will be comparing the similarities and differences, which were written by the same author. Both these poems were written by a person called Siegfried Sasson, who wrote most of his poems during the World War One, which outlined how bad the war was to those at home after suffering from being Shell Shocked. I will be comparing the language it uses, ideas it contains and the way it is structured between both poems, which Siegfried Sasson uses to demonstrate that war is evil, and should be stopped. There is also some similarity in Suicide in the Trenches where Siegfried Sasson describes the trenches as if it is like hell meaning that war was like a place where young people went and got themselves killed. On the first line of Died of Wounds, Siegfried Sasson wrote Wet White , which is alliteration, which is a type of sound device. He also does this on the third line, ninth line and the last line. This makes the poem sound better. There is also some similarity in Suicide in the Trenches, where the author also uses this device to make the poem catchier but instead uses different letters to make it sound different and better. The food security of a country is the availability of food in that country, and the people s access to it. It is often said, Food insecurity anywhere, threatens peace everywhere . The term food security reflects the desire to eliminate hunger and malnutrition. The World Food Summit in 1996 defined food security as, when all people at all times have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet the dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life . Poverty in rural Punjab and Sindh declined sharply from 29.5 per cent in 2001 to 21.8 per cent in 2004 but then jumped to 28 per cent in 2010. The SDPI study reveals that the rural Balochistan has the highest incidence of poverty with three quarters of its rural population (74 per cent) living below the poverty line. Urban poverty in Balochistan is 29 per cent. The second highest rural urban disparity is found in Sindh where 46 per cent rural households are poor compared to only 20 per cent urban households. Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa also shows a similar pattern; 43 per cent rural households are poor compared to 18 per cent urban households. The rural urban divide in Punjab is the lowest amongst all the provinces as 28 per cent rural households are poor in contrast to only 10 per cent urban households. Fires caused by a combination of human careless and the physical properties of hydrocarbons have caused millions of dollars in property damage and claimed an untold number of human lives. It is this fact that has lead to scientists devoting time and resources to making polymers safer. In the following paragraphs the mechanism behind burning polymers will be ... At higher temperatures the phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species and can under go polymerization to form polyphosphates. Which react with the cross linked species to form the char layer. Borated species work the same way, they form a glassy surface that helps protect and insulate the substrate. The final pathway that will be investigated is the suppression of radical species in the reaction space. This is done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an inorganic enhancer into the polymer. When the polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into the gas phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this species reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form hydrogen gas or water vapor, respectfully. From this series of reactions the halogen radical is regenerated, where it reacts with either the polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a lower energy than either the hydrogen or oxygen radical species. The effectiveness of this method is dependent on the halogen used. Bromine is the most common due to it narrow temperature activation range. Chlorine is the next most common but due to a broad temperature range is not as useful. Florine and ... These studies show that women s attitudes regarding breastfeeding create strong motivators for the intent to breastfeed. Those with positive associations with breastfeeding are most likely to want to breastfeed and those with negative associations with breastfeeding are most likely to choose not to breastfeed. In studies where women were selected as the result of choosing not to breastfeed, researchers found heightened levels of expressed personal reasons that reflected negative associations with breastfeeding, including a lack of consistent education by hospital staff (Ogbuanu et al., 2009; Shaker et al., 2004; Wirihana Barnard, 2011). Through questioning certain ideas and problems in our world, he breaks down what can know what really exists in the world and what does not. Russell, an empiricist, believes that through our sensory perception of our environment. However, our own individual perception can be skewed, and therefore is susceptible to err. Russell gives an example of three people, one is color blind, one is sick, and one is inebriated sick, and one is inebriated, and ask them to describe the same chair, they will all give you slightly different answers. This consistency proposes to Russell, that we, at least, must have faith in the reality of a single, specific, real chair. To this commonsensible belief, he also goes on to propose the idea that real objects cause the sense data we intake, so therefore must be related to them in a certain noteworthy way. So from this what can we believe and not believe to exist? Well first of all we can believe that, if we are looking at the chair, we can conclude the object itself is real, there is a chair there. Our senses take in the sense data of a chair, four legs, a back rest, etc. We then take this data and use our prior knowledge of other chair like things, and we can come to the solution of the object we are looking at is a chair. This logic applies to all objects in such a manner. However we cannot truly believe that certain things truly exists. Such as the fact that we cannot truly believe the existence of certain characteristics of an objects when it s subject outside influence, such as a chair in water. To the naked eye, the chair would look distorted, but it is not so, the water distorts our perception of the chair, therefore deceiving our view of the reality of the characteristics of the chair. Perspectives on the Book of Job Essay The Book of Job is one of the three books in the Hebrew bible whose genre is described as wisdom literature.1 Certainly the Book of Job satisfies the literary conventions that qualify a biblical book for such status. 2 Yet Job may be associated with wisdom in a much more literal sense. The Book of Job attempts to deal with a problematic question that confronts suffering humanity: why do bad thingshappen to good people? The variety and vehemence of commentators contemporary responses to this chapter of the Bibleis testament to the continued relevance of the Book of Job s wisdom thousands of years after it was written. As always, God tests those human beings to whom he is close and whom he loves. 8 It is unclear whether Buber bases the preceding statement on his personal opinion or on the biblical text. Buber points out that Job s plaintive cries constitute a form of prayer, and in fact cement his relationship with God. Buber concludes that Job passed God s test, successfully bore witness to his God 9 and has the eternal mission of serving God. One comes away from Buber with the impression that both God s behavior and Job suffering are morally justified. In contrast to Buber s vindication of God s role and glorification of Job s suffering, C. G. Jung excoriates God for his crimes 10 in an excerpt from Answer to Job11. Setting an irreverent tone, Jung begins by stating that God s thunderings... completely miss the point 12 by failing to address Job s questions, demonstrating God s self absorption. Jung points out that God s self aggrandizing diatribe only makes sense if directed towards a doubting thought , which can only be Satan. Jung suggests that God has turned his verbal displeasure on Job rather than Satan in order to avoid facing the fact that he was duped by Satan into sanctioning the punishment of his most faithful follower. Job realizes that the self centered God speaking from the whirlwind has no interest in Job s rights, and thus Job has no choice but to retract his demand for justice 13 and submit to the divine omnipotence ... • 42. Emerson History Analysis Ashleigh Ramsey Ramsey 1 Mr.Kirkindoll AP U.S. History Third Hour 10 December 2014 Universal Emerson s opinion on history in his essay History is thought provoking. Emerson often views history as a prevalent or universal mind . This universal mind is common and accessible to all men. History is often viewed as the record of the universal mind and is also contained in that universal mind. Therefore, Emerson is able to say, Man is explicable by nothing less than all his history . Emerson tends to believe in a certain relation between the hours of a lifetime and the centuries of the time itself. If one thinks history is something that happened in the past, one is mistaken. History is very similar to nature in a way. It is the universal nature which gives worth to particular men and things. In nature there is an endless variety of things, but ... An example of Emerson s universal mind is when he says, Of the Universal mind each individual man is one more incarnation. This means that every man can contain their divine idiosyncrasy. This book was educational as it gave readers brief and sometimes precise examples, like how Canadians lack national and political conscience within the academic curriculum. The Country s educational system needs to do a better job training its educators and ultimately restructuring curriculums to deal with our current problems. The book s exterior appearance is bright red, and often red, is associated with power. I believe that this book has the authority to make readers think about their experience concerning Canadian history but unfortunately, a majority of the population does not know enough of its history to learn from the mistakes and successes of our predecessors. Along with the strengths of this book (argumentative perspective, educational, and exterior appearance), there were a few weaknesses as well. To elaborate on Granasteins effort, I believe he wrote from an androcentric perspective. There were times when he sounded like a grumpy old historian man. I think his little rants reduced the effectiveness of the book. He made many prejudice remarks concerning multiculturalism and social history (gender studies, urban, economics, demographics, etc.). The psychological contract consists of the expectations that employees have with their employing organizations. The implications of this are implicit. The mill s management used many other scare tactics to try and persuade employees to reject the union. Opinion turned when working conditions directly contributed to the death of an employee. This employee had not felt well and requested some time to rest. The supervisor rejected his request and the employee subsequently died at his workplace. Ensuring that the students receive the most education out of this short amount of time is essential to their academic success. To do this, it is necessary to understand and be able to apply the essential elements of instruction. According to educational researcher Barak Rosenshine, there are six essential elements of explicit instruction; Review, presentation, guided practice, correction /feedback, independent practice, and regular reviews. The first step in successful instruction is a review of previous lessons. This review should include knowledge that is relevant to the new skill. Reviewing previous material verifies that all students have mastered the skills that they need in order to be successful in learning the new skill. Since these skills should be previously mastered the review should be straightforward and short. A majority of the time the review is embedded in homework that is then gone over at this time. This not only provides the teacher with proof of mastery from the students, but also provides feedback to the students in a timely manner. The review is essential to instruction because without it there would be a decrease in academic learning time and will result in a reduction of content coverage and high levels of success. Subsequently, the teacher would proceed with the lesson only to realize that the students are unable to learn the new skill due to a high frequency of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. The Cold War Between America And The Soviet Union Between... In studying International Relations, I have realized that, the nature of International politics can be likened to anarchy. This is because in International relations there seems to be no supreme or overriding authority which establishes and maintains rules or laws in international affairs. All States appear to behave in their own interests. A typical case of study is the Cold War. From my understanding, the Cold War describes the relationship between America and the Soviet Union between 1945 and 1980. During this period, neither sides ever fought each other directly, but indirectly they influenced other countries through their ideologies (i.e. America s democracy and Russia s communism) to war. For example, America supplied weapons to South Vietnam (anti communist) to war with North Vietnam (pro communist), who were also supported and supplied weapons by China/Russia. Also with Afghanistan, Americans helped them after the Soviet Union invaded in 1979 by supplying them with weapons to war, without physically involving themselves. This portrays that, in the absence of a supreme power to regulate law in International relations, the system will not be able to provide any public good, in this case, PEACE among states. However, to some extent they do. To achieve this peace, both realists and liberals have outlined various factors that facilitate this provision among States. A common perception among French generals was Artillery conquers and infantry occupies. With the creation of the Canadian Counter Battery Office (CCBO) this new technology was effectively employed for one of the first times at Vimy Ridge. As part of a four phase plan, March 20th marked the commencing of the artillery strikes on German trenches with twenty four artillery brigades consisting of 480 eighteen pounders, 138 4.5inch howitzers, ninety six two inch trench mortars, and twenty four massive 9.45 inch trench mortars. During this phase, the gunners were highly successful knocking out many German batteries, many of which identified by aerial photography. Phase two began on April 2nd, with the intensity of the attacks increasing; they tried to maintain constant bombardment of the Germans to prevent them from rebuilding defences or receiving supplies. The later two phases of the plan started on April 9th and consisted of the creeping barrage to follow troops, as well as artillery support moving up at the pace of the soldiers.
