This document summarizes tendencies emerging from websites of writing centers and programs in Latin American countries. It finds that the most common initiatives are freshman and second-year writing courses, while writing centers integrating various initiatives are less frequent. Public universities generally lead these initiatives except in Colombia where private universities also participate. Colombian initiatives tend to be the youngest at 1-3 years while Argentine and Chilean ones are older at 4-6 years. The most common services provided are consulting, tutoring, and pedagogical support for professors. Initiatives aim to develop academic writing skills, support learning, and develop disciplinary/professional writing competencies. Regional cooperation and flexibility in curriculum appear important for sustainability.
