This document provides guidance for writing a successful proposal for the 2014 ACTFL Conference in San Antonio, Texas. The conference theme is "Reaching Global Competence" and will take place November 21-23, with preconference workshops on November 20. Proposals must be submitted online by January 15, 2014. Accepted proposals will focus on areas like instructional design, assessment, advocacy, and collaboration. Proposals will be evaluated based on content, outcomes, presentation methods, and program guide description. Examples are provided for writing about content, outcomes, and presentation methods.

10. An Example for Writing Content
• The panel will present how the 21st Century Skills
could be partnered with the national standards and
be integrated into Chinese language and culture
instruction. Three panelists will share strategies in
the following areas: a) Communication and
Collaboration skills: interaction with native speakers
and use of authentic materials will be highlighted; b)
Critical and Innovation skills: wherein newly revised
Bloom’s Taxonomy will be discussed; and c) Media
and Technology skills: information and media literacy
will be examined through the lens of cultural
perspectives.

progress. It is with an expectation that the

guide. Handouts include an authentic
material, two activities and an assessment.
Presenters will conduct an on-going
interaction with participants.
