HA5 – Sidekick Task 1 – Project Charter
Use these prompts to create a written charter for your project.
Skills Audit – Review your strengths and weaknesses and confidence in the following areas:
Project Management
I could have managed the project better by using my time wisely. If I were to do this again, I would have a
clear plan of what I am doing and plan ahead using the time I have to complete the tasks and not waste too
much time on the research.
Research and Ideas Generation
The research and ideas generation went well; there were plenty of images of robots to look at. I looked at
various images of sidekick robots and normal robots of different types to see the way their bodies looked
and to get an idea of the different features I could use.
Drawing Techniques
The drawing techniques I used for the design pack included the use of a HB pencil for the sharpness which
resulted in a clearer drawing. I had drawn the font, back and side of my sidekick robot using the square
guides for precise proportions.
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
NewTek LightWave - Modeler
After I had learned the tools and keyboard shortcuts for modeler, I found using the software very easy to
use and I would use it again. I feel confident using the software and the keyboard shortcuts.
Assignment Structure – Ask yourself the following questions:

I am clear about the timescale available but I still could have used the time I had in a better way.
Do you understand what elements of the unit are being assessed?
I understand what elements of the units are being assessed.
Do you understand the scenario and the reasons for carrying out the assignment?
I do understand.
Have you visited the Second Life community and the SL Market Place? What are your impressions?
No I haven’t.
What is your goal for this assignment?
My goal is to create a 3D robot sidekick using the software modeler working from a design pack I created
and recording my progress on a production log and schedule.
Constraints – What is going to cause you problems in this project (technical, time, legal and ethical issues etc.) and what will you
do to solve these problems?
The main problem I had was no having the software at home.

I looked at various images of sidekick robots and normal robots of different types to see the way their bodies looked and to get an idea of the different features I could use. Drawing Techniques The drawing techniques I used for the design pack included the use of a HB pencil for the sharpness which resulted in a clearer drawing. I had drawn the font, back and side of my sidekick robot using the square guides for precise proportions. Adobe Photoshop Adobe Illustrator NewTek LightWave - Modeler After I had learned the tools and keyboard shortcuts for modeler, I found using the software very easy to use and I would use it again. I feel confident using the software and the keyboard shortcuts. Assignment Structure – Ask yourself the following questions: Are you clear about the timescale available? My goal is to create a 3D robot sidekick using the software modeler working from a design pack I created and recording my progress on a production log and schedule. Constraints – What is going to cause you problems in this project (technical, time, legal and ethical issues etc.) and what will you do to solve these problems? The main problem I had was no having the software at home.
