Newark, New Jersey Neighborhoods, Real Estate and Rental Markets
Newark is the most populous city in the state of New Jersey, and one of the nation s largest
shipping hubs. It is the sixty seventh most populous city in the country and has just over two
hundred seventy five thousand residents. This makes it the second most populated city in the New
York metropolitan region, after New York City
. It is the largest port on the Eastern Seaboard,
location of several corporate headquarters, and several universities. It is a diverse city, made up of
five wards containing many neighborhoods that vary greatly, from urban business and industrial
districts, to quiet near rural areas on the outskirts of the city.
Newark, New Jersey Neighborhoods
Newark s residents usually identify themselves by which of the five political wards in they make
their home in, and occasionally by the individual neighborhood in which they live. The East and
South Wards of the city are mostly given over to industrial use and contain most of the airport
and seaport lands. The city s residential areas are largely concentrated in the North, Central, and
West Wards. The size of the wards is dictated by New Jersey State Law. The largest ward in the
city may not be more than ten percent of the average ward size larger, by population, than the
smallest. This requirement necessitates the redrawing of ward boundaries on a somewhat regular
basis.
The Central Ward, which many locals still call by its old name the old

Playing the piano is a meaningful leisure time activity for John so it is important he continues to do
this to promote social inclusion, physical exercise, boost his self esteem and to make that spiritual
connection.
Key factors which may impact on the John s occupational performance
This inflammatory incurable disease Rheumatoid Arthritis came as a surprise to John as he had
never experienced such an excruciating pain in his joints. Pain initially started in his left hand
and the next day he suffered from the same excruciating pain in his right hand. This really
disturbed him as he had no idea what to do with it. The pain was absolutely excruciating that he
decided to see a doctor and seek medical advice. His doctor was also confused and just
recommended him some Analgesic or Paracetamol tablets to mitigate the pain. This indicates that
John has led a healthy life in his past and has good medical record, since he was experiencing this
kind of disease for the first time in his life; his doctor was unable to learn about his condition in
the first place (Charmaz, pp.976 993).
John went home and took some tablets which relieved him at that particular time. Since the disease
is incurable and chronic, the excruciating pain in his joints surfaced again, this time with more
intensity as it almost locked him up solid by stiffening up his

When any organization makes the decision to enter into the world of electronic business, or e

adhered to. Smith Systems Consulting was no exception.
Smith Systems Consulting
Smith Systems Consulting began in the late Seventies in Houston, Texas, when founder, Bill
Smith, was still a partner with a large public accounting firm. Mr. Smith was able to obtain an

When Smith Systems Consulting launched their e business, they also launched a legal obligation
to take adequate steps to protect their client s data and financial information. This includes
protecting the data again hackers by developing and maintaining.
Thankfully, there are a number of ways to do this, including: encrypting data, securing websites,
securing IT systems and wireless networks, and providing adequate training to all employees
regarding the safe transmission, handling, and disposal of information (Steve Pain, 2007). The
improper disposal of information and the breach of confidentiality have been in the news on a
regular basis. This has ranged from employees improperly throwing out customer files, to laptops
being stolen, to hard drives not being properly wiped or erased. More often than not, it is reported
that these items contained customer social security numbers and financial records.
According to the British Security Industry Association, companies should be learning lessons about
the importance of protecting confidential information. (Steve Pain, 2007, para. 7). In fact,
compliance with the Data Protection Act is imperative and non compliance could result in
prosecution by the Office of Information Commissioner. The best way to ensure that data is being
disposed of securely and responsibly and that confidential information is being eradicated is to

Personality Characteristics And Characteristics Of...
Personality, according to the American Psychological Association, refers to individual
differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. The study of personality
focuses on two broad areas: One understands individual differences in particular personality
characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other area understands how the various
parts of a person come together as a whole. (Kumari, 2015). There are layers to every individual s
way of thinking and interacting with the world that are defined by their experiences and their
innate characteristics. These characteristics are displayed in every aspect of a person s life. The
personality is a fingerprint people instinctively leave when completing everyday tasks as well as
dealing with others. A person s behavior can become predictable because of the consistency of the
pattern of characteristics and actions the person displays. A person disposition, forces them to be
who they truly are and to live a life with accomplishments that reflect their views on the world
(Goodarzi, 2015). When determining personality, there are five approaches which researchers focus
on to determine one s personality. The first approach is the trait approach which concentrates on the
individual differences and the unique organization of the adaptations to the environment
determined by the psychological systems. Gordon Allport, a trait psychologist, believes the
development of traits supports a personological

The Effects Of Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivation And...
Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation and Student Achievement

Abstract
To examine the effects of rewards on intrinsic motivation for children in special education, a review
of research was conducted. Students who are intrinsically motivated, tend to experience school
success because they select challenging activities and spend more time on the task at hand. It can
be very easy to undermine intrinsic motivation by using rewards. This change in motivation then
results in more errors in the learning process as well as slower acquisition of skills.
Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation and Student Achievement
Students with learning disabilities are often extremely unmotivated. To them, school tends to be
one failure after another. This poor student achievement is usually due to an extreme lack of
motivation. In attempts to overcome this lack of motivation, rewards are offered. Many of us
have heard, If only they were more motivated, they would do so much better on test and get better
grades when having conversations about these individuals. The effect that is intended for the
reward is often mistaken and therefore it can have the opposite effect of what was originally
intended. Children who lack intrinsic motivation will get the wrong idea from receiving rewards.
Sometimes when rewards are used, the student will find ways to excel in the task more so then
when the reward is not in place (Amabile and Gitmore, 1984). Students with

Environmental Racism In The Bronx, NY
The Bronx, NY is home to over 1.3 million people men, women and children alike. It is currently
the poorest urban county in the United States with the majority of residents being people of
color. For quite some time now the Bronx has been experiencing an influx of industrial activity.
As it is a relatively cheaper area compared to the rest of the five boroughs, it is cheaper to buy
property there. As a result, more and more companies are buying up the land and setting up shop
in what is already a highly urbanized area. Not only is the Bronx bordered on all sides by busy
highways, it is also home to a number of industrial buildings such as the country s largest

As of 2009, studies conducted by the CDC have shown that asthma impacts approximately one in
every twelve people, and the numbers only continue to grow (CDC, 2011). Some of the most
common symptoms can range anywhere from coughing (especially at night or during exercise),
wheezing and chest tightness, to shortness of breath. Asthma is often a chronic condition and
while many times it can present itself as being mild, it can also sometimes lead to death if a
person suffers an asthma attack. Asthma can be genetic, but it can also be caused, as well as
exacerbated by, environmental factors such as air pollution. Studies have shown that children
living in the Bronx are experiencing asthma at levels eight times higher than the national average.
In addition, rates of death from asthma are a whopping three times higher than the national
average, and hospitalization rates at about five times higher. (Ruppell, 2000). Asthma is not a
disease that targets only one group of people, yet the Bronx still exhibits disproportionately high
levels of asthma especially in neighborhoods that are poorer areas of the city. In fact, people from
these poor areas are 21 times more likely to be hospitalized due to asthmatic conditions compared
to people from more affluent parts of the city (Ruppell,

Pricing The Bond Option Of Vasicek And Cir Models
Pricing the Bond option in Vasicek and CIR models

Course: Math 624
Date: 2016/12/18
1.Abstract
This report is aimed to describe how we will use Python to build an application to price risky
bond and the European options of the bond in stochastic hazard rate and interest rate models. We
are going to simulate the path of interest rate using CIR model and simulate the path of hazard
rate using Vasicek model. Then we will get the survival function from simulated hazard rate and
get the bond price from it. Lastly we will price the European options of the risky bond based on
the simulated bond price by using both closed form formula (Jamshidian, F. (1989)) and Monte
Carlo simulation.
2.Introduction
Today, an increasing number of risky bond options have been introduced to customers, but only a
few customers can understand how to price a risky bond option. The credit derivative is a new type
of financial derivative which is based on the credit condition of the loan developed in the 1990s,
and its function is to separate the credit risk from other risks of the primary assets and transfer it to
the counterparty. Also, credit derivatives can make credit risk appear in a more fluid and tradable
form, which has a great application in improving the portfolio of returns and presenting a highly
structured risk portfolio. Meanwhile, credit derivatives can be used in the investment market Avoid
risks, and thus mobilize the credit market activity.

What Is Octavia Butler s Response To The Parable Of The Sower
Parable of the Sower Response (Chapters 1 11)
In an alternate reality eight years from now, America has become a ravaged landscape, dotted
with walled communities. Islands amongst a shark infested ocean. Stars scattered across the
emptiness of space. While this comparison may seem extreme, the similarities shared between
Octavia Butler s post apocalyptic vision and present day America can be made apparent. Are we
really living in delusional walled off communities? Many neighborhoods today are separated by
both race and class. Like in the book, all Americans look forward to change, and yet change is just
an elusive dream that the future will bring about a better tomorrow. Parable of the Sower is a

One part that caught my attention the most was the ending of the space program by newly elected
President Donner. Space is a recurring theme, introduced near the beginning of the book when
Lauren talks to her grandmother about the visible stars in the sky, discussing how city pollution
blocked out the view of the stars in the past. This is a symbolization of how modernization and the
rise of powerful corporate companies envelopes people in the haze of normalcy and safety,
depriving them of the drive to change. This introduces a concept where people are blinded by
external sources from reaching the stars, where space and the stars represent truth, ambition, and
curiosity. As mentioned before, the presidential command to cut all involvement of funding space
programs marks the abandonment of all these values. In a way, the whole country of America is the
walled off community of Robledo, afraid to venture into the unknown, and living in ignorance
through the thought that its inhabitants will always live to see another day. Americans cannot
progress by blinding themselves to the truth, and must confront the fact that one day all things will
come to an end. Lauren s father explains to her that, You ve

Examples Of Microaggressions In Get Out
Microaggressions are now, more than ever, noticeable in the media. In the film, Get Out, director
Jordan Peele uses microaggressions to illustrate his message that racism requires action with the use
of discomforting methods, in the hopes of educating white people on their not so subtle racism.
Throughout the film he utilizes the Armitage family s microaggressions toward black peopleto
obtain the audience s attention. The specific audience he is targeting is white people, who are most
commonly guilty of microaggressions. He overuses examples of microaggressions to cause his
audience to feel awkward and uncomfortable, similar to how a black person may feel when faced
with the same remarks. For example, when Rose Armitage invites her black boyfriend Chris to
meet her family, he is bombarded with microaggressions upon his arrival. Her family appears to
overcompensate and try to relate to him in any way possible. Rose s father, Dean, is usually the
one who is making Chris feel uncomfortable. He not only constantly refers to Chris as My Man
throughout the movie, but also states I [Dean] would have voted for Obama a third time if I
[Dean] could (Peele). To a white person, her Dean s words would have gone unnoticed, but to a
black person it is painfully obvious that he is trying to seem relatable to Chris. Other members
of the family, such as Rose s brother Jeremy, also make Chris uncomfortable. He begins a
conversation with Chris about sports, which leads to him saying you [Chris] could be a beast
(Peele). It is evident that this makes Chris uncomfortable because he is being belittled for his
genetic makeup. Other characters in the movie are also guilty of using microaggressions, such as
Mr. Dray. While talking to Chris and Rose, he states that I [Mr.Dray] know Tiger (Peele). This is
a version of the classic statement I have black friends , which has been a recurrent
microaggressive phrase used by white people for decades. This statement is most often used when
white people are trying to disprove that they are racist. Strangely, the most blatant microaggressive
comment in the film came from an unnamed Asian man, who states Black is in fashion (Peele).
Since the Asian man is a fellow minority, it is strange

Enter The Void (2010) is a film about a young man, Oscar who lives with his sister in Tokyo,

entirely through the eyes of Oscar, we see everything through his eyes and when he smokes DMT

journey through kaleidoscopic Tokyo. DMT(Dimethyltryptamine) is also the chemical released at
death and is responsible for our dreams producing an energy and spiritual interactions sending the
person into an eternal trance; somewhat like an infinite dream that is ultimately a lucid fantasy. The
title sequence encapsulates this by applying the same effect to the words in the title sequence so the
audience has no choice but to Enter the

Things That Make Friendships Last a Lifetime
There is a type bond that is made between a set people who want to go farther than being just
acquaintances. A healthy friendship contains respect, people who respect each other by means of
equal fashion. Friends should often care about the well being of the other person. Many friendships
also include acts, whether they are acts of kindness that work towards the best interest of the other
without requiring materialistic items in return. A healthy friendshipalso contains honesty.
An act of kindness between friends can be seen when a young man who recently broke up with
the girlfriend he was living with at that time and had nowhere else to go. The man s one buddy,
who ended up discovering that his friend was on the verge of being homeless decided to go over
and help him move out of his house into his house. The man s friend did not offer his assistance
in the matter because he was asked but rather because it was the right thing to do at the time. He
never asked for anything in return because he was helping a friend and it s the correct thing to do
when you or someone you know needs help the most. Another example of this type of occurrence is
when you are walking down the street and you take notice to somebody struggling carrying
something, you out of common courtesy ask if they need help. They may not always take it but
they will appreciate the thought. As humans, some of us

should stop when it becomes irrelevant. Hesiod s good strife involves friendly competition, for

The Owner Of The Restaurant
Before leaving home for Rutgers, I was a fry cook at a burger restaurant. The usual pace was
slightly overwhelming and all my co workers had 2+ years of experience with the company. One
night, about two months after I started working there, it was so incredibly busy that the line of
customers measured out the door. As I frantically tossed food into hot grease, I fumbled with a
box of jalapeГ±o poppers and dropped all of them on the floor. The cashiers, general manager
and head cook all rolled their eyes at me and shuffled past the mess. As I started to pick them up
to throw them away, I noticed someone else s hand helping. I looked up inquisitively and found
Ralph Flannery s eyes, the owner of the restaurant, who owned a handful of the same restaurant
chain in several other locations. After we cleaned up, he asked me to go to his office when
things calmed down. I went to his office expecting to turn in my name tag. Ralph looked calm
and cheery, which put me at a wearisome ease. He started by explaining how cheap and
worthless a box of jalapeГ±o poppers were to him. Then Ralph transitioned to how expensive but
valuable his employees were and finished by personalizing it with how important I am to him
and his company s success. I was left speechless because this was a new experience to me. I sat
there curious about what he had to say next. He said to me, Jacob, what if I invest in you? Would
you invest in me? How about I give you a fifty cent raise right now... I

Similarities Between Malaysian And Japanese Moral Curriculum
III. Moral Education Curriculum of Malaysia and Japan
A. Similarities of the Moral Education Curricula
The first aspect of similarity between the Malaysian and Japanese moral education is the subject is
taught as an independent subject. The teaching period for Malaysian moral education is allocated
in the school timetable. It is one of the core subjects taught to non Muslim students in all primary
and secondary schools in Malaysia. In a week, three teaching periods of forty minutes each are
allotted for the subject (World Data on Education, 2011). Similarly, following France which
teaches moral education as a separate subject, Japanese moral education was established as
special hour in the official Course of Study (World Data on Education, 2011). Therefore, as a
teaching subject in school, like any other subject lessons, the Japanese moral education develops,
incorporates and enhances its own instruction. Classified as general studies rather than academic
study, it is taught once a week in elementary and lower secondary schools, allowing Japanese
students from the first grade to the ninth grade to have 35 lesson hours of moral education in a
regular school year (Bolton, 2015).
Secondly, both Malaysian and Japanese moral education have explicit focus on nature. Malaysian
moral education emphasizes on the love for the environment. The values relating to the
environment require man to love and protect the environment, live harmoniously with the
environment, maintain the good

Normally, if a system has a higher value than value, the system will be overloaded and the waiting
time can go to infinite levels. Though this case there is an exception, as is evident in Exhibit 8.
After the 18th hour the airport s arrivals are under operational capacity so the planes can be
delayed to these later hours, making the system still able to function. This roll over effect helps
relieve some of the over capacity at the 18th hour.
b. For hour 17 there is a 12.52 minute delay time.

You cannot calculate the delay time/ delay cost for the 18th hour because the average arrival rate is

Under severe weather conditions the capacity drops to 40 60 operations per hour.
In these weather conditions for both the 17th hour and 18th hour the arrival rate exceeds the
runway capacity, and we cannot calculate the waiting time. For severe weather, even if you get the
planes out at a later hour it would still take much longer than if there was moderate weather. Most
planes will land in hour 19 because it s not as busy.

Case Study Analysis Amanda Zuber COMM215 JEANNINE BUCKLEY Case Study Analysis
June 16, 2014 Executive Summary ABC Inc. hired 15 new employees with the intention of starting
the orientation on June 15. Carl has only six months experience and has made several critical
errors. This may have been created due to lack of qualifications, training, or overstating of
qualification on Carl s resume. Due to this, certain tasks were not addressed in a timely manner.
Four problems are readily apparent; employee applications are incomplete or missing
documentation, lack of training manuals, no drug screenings have been administered, and the

The goal is to have new hires trained in time to start work in July. Carl is new at the job himself,
and this is his first recruitment effort. This, however, is no excuse for not being prepared for the
task at hand, especially knowing the importance for the company and making a good impression
on the new hires. The main concern is that there are many problems and not much time to
complete them. Carl will need to evaluate, prioritize, and find solutions to each issue quickly.
Carl has many obstacles to overcome, but the July deadline is still a reachable goal. Key
Problems Carl s performance, leading to his failure, began when he did not think ahead in his
process for new hires and the requirements of himself and the new employees for the company.
Before Carl started recruiting these individuals he did not have a plan in place for after he met
his goal of recruiting 15 new people for the company. His only focus and concern was getting the
new hires in the door, and the rest was an afterthought. Some of the things he should have thought
about were What happens next after the recruits are hired? Problem 1 He did not take in
consideration all of the elements involved with the hiring and training of the new hires; like making
sure all documents were up to date prior to hiring. A company should not hire new employees
without all required documents. If a

Popsicle Cross Bridge
During the Physics bridge project, teams were instructed to hypothesize and construct a Truss
Bridge from Popsicle sticks to learn valuable life and Physics lessons. One team, in particular,
Physics Abridged, may not have won but the team members have definitely learned more lessons
any other team. This team began its trek to greatness by conducting several hours of academic
research. In fact, the group had at least fifteen sources. In the first research phase, the team
amassed ten sources; however, Terence felt as if that was not enough, so he researched more in
depth to understand the Trusses that his team would be using. This resulted in what the group

Intonation During Casual Speech Productions
Intonation during casual speech productions can be observed at the discourse level using auditory
analysis (Chun, 2002). In practice, speakers can utilise falling or rising intonations to represent
various speech realisations such as statements, commands and/or explanations (Cruttendon, 1981).
Speakers intonation choice may be situation specific and used as an entity of expression to generate
meaning within particular groups of words (Chun, 2002). Interpretations of speakers speech style
using statistical analyses have been the main focus in previous literatures, providing fruitful
evidence on both pitch and linguistic variation and the relations to a more positive or negative
connotation within languages. Henton (1989) demonstrated that the pitch level in linguistic
variation could carry underlying connotations (positive or negative) such that in male speech, if
expressed with low pitch, rumbling, under expressive and monotonous, can be expressive of a more
negative connotation within the speech context. Subsequent studies addressed speakers abilities to
accommodate sociophonetic speech to produce variants that are more similarly associated with the
social characteristics of the audience (Bell, 1984), or a referee (Hay, Jannedy Mendoza Denton,
1999). Hay et al., (1999) attempted to demonstrate the prevalence of an interplay between speech
style and the ethnic background of a referee by examining Oprah Winfrey s speech tendencies to
monophthongise the diphthong /Г¦/.

Diagnosing Learning Disabilities
In the United States today, 38% of children in the fourth grade have been recognized as reading
way below the level of their peers. Many of these children are identified with a learning
disability and receive remedial instruction in the resource rooms. (Aaron, P. G., Joshi, R.,
Gooden, R., Rentum, K. E.) The Diagnostic Criteria for learning disabilities (according to the
DSM V) is a specific learning disorder which is diagnosed through an examination of the child s
developmental, educational, medical and responses of various interventions that have been
tried. The diagnosis is a constant difficulty in reading, writing, and arithmetic during the years of
schooling. Symptoms can include imprecise or slow reading, writing that lacks clarity and
content, and difficulty remembering mathematical reason and number facts. The academic
level must be significantly below average in all areas; and the child s difficulties cannot be
explained by any other disorders and it has to interfere greatly with academic achievement,
performance and daily living. Dyslexia is classified as an impairment of reading and spelling
which cannot be caused by low intelligence or a cognitive delay. Reading disorder is classified as
an extreme reduced speed in reading. Children with reading disorders find it difficult to
comprehend what they have read because of the speed that they are reading. They tend to confuse
similar sounding words and similar letters. Therefore it is so important to receive a

Moralism In The Cask Of Amontillado
Looking at The Cask of Amontillado one can usually see the issue and theme of Montresor s
rationale in executing Fortunato. The tone of the story is that of the narrator being confused and
angry for the blame of his vindictive homicide that has denied him peace and questions the
morality of his actions. His uneasy inner voice has turned into a sort of retaliation for his
wrongdoing, and the blessing In pace requiescat (Poe) at the finish of the story is unexpected in
the light of his mental anxiety and his insight that his own spirit is cursed by mortal sin. Fortunato
and Montresor were political adversaries but they can also be viewed as religious ones. Montresor

Textual Analysis Of Blow-Up
BLOW UP is the story of a successful fashion photographer, Thomas (David Hemmings), who,
whilst scouting for fresh subjects in a park one afternoon, photographs a mysterious couple in
flagrante delicto. Upon returning to his studio loft later that day, he develops the pictures and
discovers that he has inadvertently stumbled upon a murder. Antonioni is not interested in the
details of the murder itself, as in a typical detective story, but rather with how the protagonist s
perception of the world, and his relationship to it, is altered by this event. As a fashion
photographer, Thomas is a creator of illusions that define a certain kind of young urban lifestyle
and Antonioni s flagrant use of the loud, splashy, attention grabbing colors of billboard advertising
a visual association elevated to an unholy apotheosis in his next film, ZABRISKIE POINT (1970)
brings to the surface the transient sensation and hollow artifice that lies at the heart of all pop
culture consumerism. In his previous work, RED DESERT (1964), Antonioni spray painted both

Evaluation Of The Performance Appraisal
Performance appraisals are used in business today as a means of providing critical feedback to
employees on their performance in the workplace. In a global environment, particular care needs
to be exercised to ensure the message delivered and received by employees is sensitive to the
cultural differences between the parties. This document will be discussing a situation where
unintended consequences arose during a performance appraisal. The document will provide for a
synopsis of the case study, background information, and some of the strengths and weaknesses of
the performance appraisal. A review of if the situation could have been avoided and should the
supervisor have anticipated the employee reaction will also be discussed. Finally, a review of culture
sensitivity in performance evaluations will be analyzed and to determine if the interaction style
between the parties was the reason for the ultimate outcome.

Ethical Framework In Teleological Framework
A case study was done on the closing of a textile manufacturing company in North Carolina, which
decided to relocate the business to another country. The decision to transfer was based on the fact
that the company would generate more revenue at a lower cost. However, the proponents of such a
move were based on an ethical teleological framework decision. However, an ethical leader has
certain qualities that are needed to build trust and develop sustainable relationships amongst
numerous stakeholders (Eisenbeils Brodbeck, 2014). According to the reading in Unit V, the
proponents and decision to move the textile company to Southeast Asia are based on the
teleological framework.
Also, to understand why this move is considered to be ethical, we must look at the meaning of
teleological framework. Teleological is based on one s consequences of action; nevertheless, these
results of interests are those that affect the individuals directly. Additionally, teleological ethics
determines the value of a moral action or a moral life result from that action or life; consequently,
philosophies within teleological ethics are also known as consequentialist ethical theories (Kocyigit
Karadag, 2016). Further, the leader is also in favor of utilitarianism, whereas they can find
themselves confronting undecidable dilemmas for which making a particular decision becomes
almost random (Farmer, 2015). Although, moving to Southeast Asia can be seen as a good and

Essay Visibly Muslim by Emma Tarlo
Visibly muslim, an ethnography published by Emma Tarlo, portrays the visibility of British
muslims through their fashion, politics and faith (Tarlo 2010). The text is constructed in a way that
allows non muslim readers to understand the culture of the muslim faith and take a look into the
culture and the hardships they face in society, all through the eyes of a non muslimBritish female
(Tarlo 2010). Ethnicity is presented as an outlook a community has that sets them apart from the
rest, either through dress, religion, language and/or solidarity, as presented in (Davis 2014) lecture
material. In Visibly Muslim the visibility of ethnicity in an urban setting is discussed, and that

Another way conflict has made the ethnic visibility of muslims portrayed through media is the
Jiljab controversy of 2002 (Tarlo 2010). In September of 2002, a 13 year old girl of Bengali
origin and her brothers, threatened the head principal of an London high school, for not allowing
their sister to wear the hijab, because they said the Shalwar kamiz was not legitimate enough for
their sister to express her religious beliefs. This matter was taken to court in 2004 where the
brothers and their sister pleaded their case and walked out winners (Tarlo 2010). This controversy
attracted major media attention and was featured in newspapers and television documents around
the world (Tarlo 2010). This could be seen to exemplify the visibility of muslims in a way that
portrays them to be people who actively, publicly and consciously advocate their religious identity
to the world (Schmidt 2011) showing that due to the conflict that had risen between a girl, her
brothers and the school principal the medias effect portrayed this conflict to the whole world,
representing muslims in a light that portrayed them as uncompromising and unreasonable,
demanding people, which were at odds with western liberal values (Tarlo 2010)

Women were very important to the colony in georgia ever since it was established. The women
had to fulfill their role as traditional women. The task of men and women were complementary;
there work required both labor and stability. Throughout the colonial period women came to
georgia and settled with families and religious groups, or sometimes by themselves seeking a new
start. They came to georgia as wives, mother, daughters, or sometimes alone as servants or slaves.
The women were either English, Salzburger, German, Scots, Irish, Sephardic Jews, and African,

In Donald Hedrick s essay War is Mud: Branagh s Dirty Harry V and the Types of Political
Ambiguity he is upset with the way politics is read in film. His reaction was generated from an
essay written by Elayne Tobin in which he finds her to be disillusioned. He believes she became
disillusioned by the film community always trying to say film exposes some bad faith, and
Hedrick is hesitant to so strongly believe Hollywood is really trying to represent the agendas of
the film community. As an example of how a film can be read for political ideas he examines
Kenneth Branagh s Henry V. In the first section Mud he looks at the use of and prevalence of
dirt. He claims it has more of a function than just making King Henry look like a tactical genius
for defeating the heavily armored French on a swampy muddy field. He believes Branagh s use
of dirt makes the film darker and the darkness harkens to the character of the real Henry V. He
goes on to explain how he his ruthlessness at the Battle of Agincourt. His ruthlessness has been

outnumbered English. The mud calls into question the character of the King. In American Clean he
examines what kind of character King Henry is in Branagh s version. He established he is the

Examples Of Justice In No Country For Old Men
In the novel No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy, there is a battle between two versions
of justice. In typical western narratives, the Sheriff is the strong hero who perseveres through battle
with the antagonist, and the good guys always win. However, this novel disrupts this usual ending
with the introduction of a unique antagonist, Chigurh. Chigurh breaks the mold of the typical old
western villain in how he manages to outsmart the law and escape. His escape is a disastrous blow
to the system of justice the Sheriffhas spent his life trying to maintain. Through this, the author
displays a twisted, unhappy version of justice in Chigurh and how it compares to Sheriff Bell s
typical, objective notion of justice on the western frontier. This interpretation showcases that
sometimes justice is not between only good and bad, and good does not necessarily always win.
With its alternative versions of justice, the novel illustrates the changing morality of the western
frontier, the weakness of moral driven justice and how these opposing views create individual
interpretations of justice compared to an objective standard.
The Sheriff can be characterized as the hero of this novel. As a law enforcement official, he
represents an objective, straightforward idea of justice. This point of view sees justice as black
and white: there are good guys and bad guys, and the good guys always overcome the bad guys.

The Ambivalent Nature Of The Uncanny
The notion of the uncanny is the key term for psychoanalysis and the psychoanalytical approach for
interpretation of the art. The uncanny effect is ingrained not by something unfamiliar or something
frightening but because it conveys something that has been lived through and exuded to the sphere
of an unconscious. Freud s 1919 essay of the same name The Uncanny has been written for literary,
psychoanalytic, critical, however not art purpose at all. It has erupted into aesthetics discourse
(Walsh 21). The notion of the uncanny constitutes an inevitable part of Freudian theory of

An important insight is the understanding of the background, of the era at the beginning of the 20th
century. Freud s thought evolves on a specific background around it, during the process of
industrialization, development of the technologies from photo cinematic inventions to the
mechanisms applied in war. Visual arts such as painting, motion pictures, photography were aimed
at mirroring an uncovered epoch and life in it, together with the military conflict and further
militarization which aligned a human being to a machine, an automaton (Freud 227), as a result
these aspects threaten an ordinary, habitual way of life and trigger the inceptives of the uncanny
sensations. Regardless the above mentioned foray of cutting edge machinery, Freud, nevertheless,
derives the instances of sensus numinis from literary studies, namely Romantic and Gothic
literature. These are the instances such as the opposition between being animate or inanimate which
evokes intellectual uncertainty (Freud 221) whether the events or the objects that are presented to
the intended reader by the writer are legitimate or fictitious, in other words, whether the situation is
real or imaginary . A further source of the uncanny feeling that is delivered by Freud from
psychoanalytical experience is anchored to the fear of castration (Freud 231). Freud refers this

Online BSN to DNP Programs: A Solution for the High Level Talent Shortage
In the United States, more than 58 million citizens live in areas that are classified as primary
care shortage areas. These regions, official labeled Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs),
fail to maintain a sufficient talent pool of primary care providers as outlined by federal
guidelines. According to a report issued by the Kaiser Foundation, Advanced Practice Nurses
(APNs) have the potential to fill this void. As of 2012, approximately 127,000 APNs deliver
treatment in the country and 60,400 of those practitioners server as primary care providers (PCPs).
Although these professionals can serve as a viable solution to the care shortage in the United States,

Independently, NPs placed 5th, one spot behind dedicated hospital physicians, while physician
assistants came in 10th in recruiting rankings, tying with general surgeons. In fact, Advanced
Practice Nurses outranked several other specialists, such as cardiologists, urologists, and
neurologists.
Building a Foundation for the Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree
Since 2004, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) has formally encouraged
APNs to practice to the full extent of their capabilities. The organization has also actively worked to
promote the pursuit of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. The AACN took this course or
action after sponsoring a special taskforce that examined how nurses with this high level training
could positively impact population treatment outcomes. Today, nursing institutions delivers such
training in the classroom and online. Doctor of Nursing Practice hopefuls may pursue learning
tracks in specialty disciplines such as Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Nurse
Midwife, and Certified Nurse Anesthetist.
DNP coursework builds on master s level training and includes preparation in evidence based
practices, quality improvement, leadership, and other critical health care related skills. The AACN

Argumentative Essay On The Glass Castle
Regularly, the finger of fault is uprightly pointed at parents who are unsuccessful at obligation in
bringing up the child. On the off chance that parents mishandled their child, does not offer him/her
security, and ignore his/her needs, society instantly criticizes them. As the child grows up, he or she
even may feel disgraced by his/her parent. Nevertheless, occasionally, all it takes for the child to
totally excuse the disappointments of the parent is for he/she to meet the child s basic needs and/or
wants. In the book, The Glass Castle, Jeannette Wallsis characterized as that child, describing her
most loved youthful memories she went through with her dad, Rex Walls, while looking at the
best snapshots of her life, paying little respect to Rex s conspicuous negligence and devastation
that negatively impacted different parts of her life. One of the many themes in The Glass Castle is
that people need to forgive not just for the benefit of the person who has been wronged but for
themselves to move forward.
Jeannette Walls memoir The Glass Castle, is about her growing up with parents whose beliefs
and persistent rebelliousness was both their curse and their salvation. The book starts when
Walls is four years of age; she is gullible and energetic, and trusts her dad can t take the blame no
matter what. The family ventures a great deal, living in Las Vegas, Blythe, and Battle Mountain
(Nevada), San Francisco (California), Phoenix (Arizona), Welch (West Virginia), and New York
City. Additionally, a great part of Walls memories happens while her family is in their car,
traveling to new places. As the book advances, and she hits her pre adolescent years, she turns out
to be less innocent and starts to acknowledge how strange her family truly is. Jeanette has a kind
identity, she learns all through the novel to act naturally, dismissive and strong. As the brokenness
of the family is raised, Walls and her siblings fought for themselves, supporting each other through
their parents neglect and, finally, find the advantages and will to leave home.
People need to have faith that things will work out for the best in the end. After all the neglect
Walls experiences; sexual abuse at the hands of outsiders and relatives,

Impact of Foreign Remittances on Economic Growth and...
INTRODUCTION:
Remittances typically refer to transfers of money by foreign workers to their home countries.
Remittances are not a new phenomenon in the world, being a normal associated to migration
which has always been a part of human history. Remittances are playing an important role in the
economies of many developing and low income countries. Pakistan is a labour abundant country;
hence, as neoclassical theory shows, if workers are unable to find jobs and/or wages to satisfy
their needs, they will look elsewhere. Pakistan s history provides us with a new trend of emigration
nearly each decade. Remittance is an important source of foreign exchange earnings for Pakistan

During the last three decades, Pakistan received a significant amount of worker s remittances,
which are sent by millions of Pakistanis working abroad. For capital deficient countries, like
Pakistan, worker s remittances are considered to be an important source of foreign exchange. These
remittances have a positive impact on Pakistan s economy through improved balance of payments
position and reduced dependence on external borrowing. Significant flows of remittances also
helped Pakistan recover from the adverse effects of oil price shocks, reduced the unemployment
problem, and improved standard of living of recipient households.
Remittances in Pakistan decreased to 3863 USD Million in the fourth quarter of 2013 from
3927 USD Million in the third quarter of 2013. Overseas Pakistani workers remittances grew by
9.46 percent to $7,790.02 million in the first half (July December) of the current fiscal year 2013
14 (FY14) as against $7,116.75 million received during the same period of last fiscal year (July
December FY13), State Bank of Pakistan statistics stated.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY:

Napoleon Bonaparte s Rise To Power
Napoleon Bonaparte Although Napoleon faced several struggles while rising to power, he was
eventually able to achieve military status and better the French government during his reign as
the leader of France. Bonaparte was a bold and ambitious leader who worked diligently at a
young age to gain the positions that he held. Life for Napoleon was never easy while he was
growing up, ruling France, or being defeated by the European powers. In Corsica on August 15,
1769, Carlos and Letizia gave birth to their second of what would soon be eight children, and they
named him Napoleon. Napoleon Bonaparte was born into a family from the Third Estate, which
often made life very challenging for him and his family (History.com Staff, 2009). After only...

In 1821 the Russians denied their support for Napoleon s Continental System that he had put in
place as a means to block British trade in Europe. Napoleon immediately penetrated Russia, but
quickly learned that defeating them would be much more laborious than he had initially
anticipated (History.com Staff, 2009). The Russians had developed a clever tactic, where they
would retreat and sabotage everything along their path whenever Napoleon s army would
advance. As a result, Napoleon and his men were led deeper into Russia, but found themselves
with few supplies. Winter was rapidly approaching, which contributed to the heavy casualties
that were experienced on both battlefronts (Dugdale, P.T., 2006). Shortly after Napoleon s retreat,
he was defeated and sent into exile by European powers. Elba, an island just off of the British
coast was where he would stay until his escape back to France. Once back in France, he ruled
once again for 100 days, but with each passing day Europe forced Napoleon further away from
his glory and prestige (McLynn, F., 1997). Napoleon continued to put up a fight, but eventually
at the Battle of Waterloo he was finally defeated and sent into exile once again. He was no longer
sent to Elba but instead to Saint Helen where he would later take his last breathe. He died in 1821
at the age of just 51, and was believed to have died from stomach

How Does Homelessness Affect Our Society
Every night across America, roughly 32,000 people between the ages of 18 and 24 are homeless
(Youth Homelessness). In the same night, hundreds of thousands of girls say goodnight to their
fellow sorority sisters before crawling into their beds. As a Panhellenic community, University of
Nebraska gives girls the opportunities to create friendships, form connections, and build strong
women. We are called to be active members of society, and use our fortunate lives to change the
world we live in. After visiting Community First! Village of Austin, Texas, it has become aware to
me the severity of homelessnessin America and how simple it can be to change it. Community
First! not only builds tiny homes through donations for homeless people around Austin, but gives
them a community to become a part of. Donating money to build a tiny house at Community First!
Village would not only strengthen UNL s Panhellenic Council s generous reputation, but also
support the movement to end homelessness through providing a home and community to a young
outcasted individual.
Community First! Village is sponsored by Mobile Loaves Fishes, a catholic charity that has has
grown to working every night, all year long, providing food, clothing, and hygiene products to the
homeless in surrounding cities of Austin. They have served over 5 million meals with the help of
19,000 volunteers. Their recent innovation (Community First!) is a 27 acre development that has
been building a tiny home community for homeless people to buy for inexpensive prices. The
village features miniature neighborhoods of homes, a church, garden, medical facility, market,
movie theater, and other amenities. The project continues to grow as donations and volunteers
come in for construction of housing and purchases of needed materials and goods. As of now,
the village has housed almost 200 former homeless men and women. Mobile Loaves Fishes
continues to house more people as construction is completed and word has spread to other major
cities of the work this organization has founded and grown. Many of the people living in the
village have come from a variety of lives before moving into the community. Some old, some new,
and often have been alone most of their life.

Roosevelts Tree Army , also known as the CCC, civilian conservation corps which began in
1933 by executive orders 6101 and 6129. Murdock wrote in his diary of his personnel accounts
and day to day life while in the CCC. His diaries start in New jersey, riding cross country to
Virgilia, CA where he reports for duty to Company F55. Unbeknownst to Murdock he has played a
vital role in the preservation of history, conservation of land and the organization of the state park

In the beginning, according to Robert Fletcher, director of CCC objectives and results report
from 1938 digital archives. There were close to 300,00 men enrolled . These men lived and
worked closed to their camps across the country building roads, dams, clearing land, planting
trees, making trails, fire prevention, forestry service, lookout towers and infrastructures at
national and state parks. Mt Nebo, one of Arkansas first state parks had CCC company 1780 V
which was a group of veterans from southern states worked to build Mt Nebo s historical cabins,
hiking trails, fire pits, roads, pavilions and bridges. Four cabins and a bridge are now registered
on the national historical places of Arkansas (see copy of document on next page). In all there
were 105 projects and or camps across Arkansas according to archives on The legacy of the CCC.
Each one of these projects by the CCC contributes to historical preservation, conservation, the
organization and development of both Arkansas state parks and national park systems. There are
thousands of pages written in dedication to these men and their efforts created by a social need
to put men back to work during the depression. The CCC s stories and legacies are well
document through history, as it changed and formed our countryside. FDR claimed that as the
country grew the population migrated across the land to reap its benefit, in doing so Americans
also destroyed the land without regard for future. Another way to view the CCC project was an
effort to revitalize what we had taken from the land and preserve it for future generations, in doing
so it also provided jobs, education, skills, protection and

David Foster Wallace Commencement Speech Summary
In his Commencement speech at the Kenyon University, David Foster Wallace states that humanity
as a whole is oblivious to the obvious things in life and has a close mindedness that amounts to an
imprisonment so total that the prisoner doesn t even know he s locked up 1. He touches upon this
concept of how people get caught up into the day to day routine of their life and they end up feeling
empty like something essential is missing from their lives that their life becomes unsubstantial, this
is because they are not aware that they are stuck in the default setting.
Because this was a commencement speech for a graduation, Wallace talks about the value of a
liberal arts education. He goes on to say that a liberal arts education is there to teach you how to
think, by instilling the ability to challenge your everyday thought process and not get stuck in what
he calls the default setting. Wallace explains this concept he calls the default setting, which is
basically this sort of natural, basic self centeredness 2. This idea or view of being the center of the
universe, the most important person in existence. A concept such as that is something that people
don t really think about often because it is so natural and instinctual, even right now I am in a
default setting, thinking about how to write this, all the other work that is due, how I wish the line
for food at the commons would move faster, how I wish that the weekend would just arrive
already, and when winter break will

Similarities Of Pirates And Yoga
Pilates and yoga are both very important exercises that can help benefit people physically and
mentally. Both practices allow people to build up muscle endurance and it can also rehabilitate
people. Both practices also have positive effects on one s mental health, improving overall life
satisfaction. Exploring the history, health benefits, and injuries of Pilates and yogahas helped me
make my decision on whether I keep it as a part of my fitness regimen.
Yoga has a complex history, because it is based on a belief system, that each yogi will interpret
differently. The origins of yoga date back to as early as 2500 BCE, where a simple figurine was
found. The artifact was Shiva, the destroyer of the world, in a yoga pose. Yoga means union in

This notion is shown in prana, which is a breathing exercise that is supposed to invigorate life
energy. The classical Indian civilization period is said to be the most important in the development
of the yoga tradition. This period was characterized by Buddhist yoga and Jainism. They both focus
on enlightenment and they use yoga to help achieve that higher understanding. The Tantra
movement focused upon personal experiences and rejected the Upanishad authority and the
movements from the classical period. Tantric traditions focus on a feminine divine (Shakti) and its
two main focuses were bhoga (enjoyment) and mukti (liberation) (Connolly). During the modern
period, Hatha yoga flourished. Hatha means the union of eternal sun and moon, and it focuses on
six purifications. These practices are dhauti, basti, neti, traktaka, nauli, and kapalabhati. These
practices were meant to cleanse the body and make one immune to illness and old age(Singleton).

At this point as a Greek, I have to mention that the word deontology is an ancient Greek word

professional ethical codes that are present to this day within the accounting profession and business.
Accounting is connected with decisions that are both complicated an ethical in nature, and hence, it
leads to too many ethical dilemmas, therefore, it s important that there are rules that guide these
ethical matters. The American Institute for Public Accountants has outlined an ethical code of
conduct that Certified Public Accountants must follow. Accounting produces results and
information which is important for certain people and will be used for evaluating, estimating and
other reasons. Therefore, if the use of the information given by the accounting department is

The End Of The War
In Autumn of 1918 it all started, desertion rates were dramatically rising in the German army, civil
strikes reduced German war, protection, this was the beginning of the end of the war. While the
German army was slowly collapsing the Americans found their perfect chance to vitally strike the
German army. The Americans then launched the essential Hundred Day Offensive which was the
concluding offensive period of the war. The Hundred Day Offense that vitally pushed Germany out
of France, therefore, forcing them to retreat beyond the Hindenburg Line. The Hindenburg Line
was the allied term for the German Siegfriedstellung that was built during the winter of 1916 1917

Pope John Paul II s Eugene Letter
Fr. Joseph Byerley used scripture, St. Pope John Paul II s Apostolic letter on the meaning of
human suffering and practical examples to answer the age old question of why God allows good
people to suffer.
I will attempt to give a summary of his talk here, but will preface that this is just a summary and
does not do justice to the clarity, depth and beauty of his talk.
He started by defining the word Redemption, which means to buy back or ransom. Human
suffering, when united with Christ s, can remit punishment due to sin. This is not connected to
forgiveness. Divine justice requires that the original goodness which existed prior to the offense
must be restored. We may be forgiven of our sins, but there is still damage which must be repaired.

It is a real and true participation in the loving sacrifice of Christ that earned our redemption. We
participate in that.
John Paul II said, Thus to share in the sufferings of Christ is at the same time to suffer for the
Kingdom of God. In the eyes of the just God, before his judgement, those who share in the suffering
of Christ become worthy of His kingdom....Christ has led us into His kingdom through His
suffering, and also through suffering, those surrounded by the mystery of Christ s redemption,
become mature enough to enter into His kingdom.
It s not that redemption is not complete. We know that redemption is complete, but we say that
redemption is also continually open to all love that is expressed through human suffering.
Suffering can be offered up for others as an act of love. But as St. Catherine of Siena said, we
must not go out looking for suffering, as in and of itself, it is not good. Enough is sent our way,
without searching it out. Only when it is consumed in love, can it be converted to good. So as we
offer up our suffering, remember what St. Augustine said, A general derives no joy from
vanquishing a weak

  • 2. Newark, New Jersey Neighborhoods, Real Estate And Rental... Newark, New Jersey Neighborhoods, Real Estate and Rental Markets Newark is the most populous city in the state of New Jersey, and one of the nation s largest shipping hubs. It is the sixty seventh most populous city in the country and has just over two hundred seventy five thousand residents. This makes it the second most populated city in the New York metropolitan region, after New York City . It is the largest port on the Eastern Seaboard, location of several corporate headquarters, and several universities. It is a diverse city, made up of five wards containing many neighborhoods that vary greatly, from urban business and industrial districts, to quiet near rural areas on the outskirts of the city. Newark, New Jersey Neighborhoods Newark s residents usually identify themselves by which of the five political wards in they make their home in, and occasionally by the individual neighborhood in which they live. The East and South Wards of the city are mostly given over to industrial use and contain most of the airport and seaport lands. The city s residential areas are largely concentrated in the North, Central, and West Wards. The size of the wards is dictated by New Jersey State Law. The largest ward in the city may not be more than ten percent of the average ward size larger, by population, than the smallest. This requirement necessitates the redrawing of ward boundaries on a somewhat regular basis. The Central Ward, which many locals still call by its old name the old ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Playing the piano is a meaningful leisure time activity for John so it is important he continues to do this to promote social inclusion, physical exercise, boost his self esteem and to make that spiritual connection. Key factors which may impact on the John s occupational performance This inflammatory incurable disease Rheumatoid Arthritis came as a surprise to John as he had never experienced such an excruciating pain in his joints. Pain initially started in his left hand and the next day he suffered from the same excruciating pain in his right hand. This really disturbed him as he had no idea what to do with it. The pain was absolutely excruciating that he decided to see a doctor and seek medical advice. His doctor was also confused and just recommended him some Analgesic or Paracetamol tablets to mitigate the pain. This indicates that John has led a healthy life in his past and has good medical record, since he was experiencing this kind of disease for the first time in his life; his doctor was unable to learn about his condition in the first place (Charmaz, pp.976 993). John went home and took some tablets which relieved him at that particular time. Since the disease is incurable and chronic, the excruciating pain in his joints surfaced again, this time with more intensity as it almost locked him up solid by stiffening up his ... Thankfully, there are a number of ways to do this, including: encrypting data, securing websites, securing IT systems and wireless networks, and providing adequate training to all employees regarding the safe transmission, handling, and disposal of information (Steve Pain, 2007). The improper disposal of information and the breach of confidentiality have been in the news on a regular basis. This has ranged from employees improperly throwing out customer files, to laptops being stolen, to hard drives not being properly wiped or erased. More often than not, it is reported that these items contained customer social security numbers and financial records. According to the British Security Industry Association, companies should be learning lessons about the importance of protecting confidential information. (Steve Pain, 2007, para. 7). • 5. Personality Characteristics And Characteristics Of... Personality, according to the American Psychological Association, refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One understands individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other area understands how the various parts of a person come together as a whole. (Kumari, 2015). There are layers to every individual s way of thinking and interacting with the world that are defined by their experiences and their innate characteristics. These characteristics are displayed in every aspect of a person s life. The personality is a fingerprint people instinctively leave when completing everyday tasks as well as dealing with others. A person s behavior can become predictable because of the consistency of the pattern of characteristics and actions the person displays. A person disposition, forces them to be who they truly are and to live a life with accomplishments that reflect their views on the world (Goodarzi, 2015). When determining personality, there are five approaches which researchers focus on to determine one s personality. The first approach is the trait approach which concentrates on the individual differences and the unique organization of the adaptations to the environment determined by the psychological systems. Gordon Allport, a trait psychologist, believes the development of traits supports a personological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Effects Of Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivation And... Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation and Student Achievement Rosa Elena Garza Texas Tech University EPSY 5379 Abstract To examine the effects of rewards on intrinsic motivation for children in special education, a review of research was conducted. Students who are intrinsically motivated, tend to experience school success because they select challenging activities and spend more time on the task at hand. It can be very easy to undermine intrinsic motivation by using rewards. This change in motivation then results in more errors in the learning process as well as slower acquisition of skills. Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation and Student Achievement Students with learning disabilities are often extremely unmotivated. To them, school tends to be one failure after another. This poor student achievement is usually due to an extreme lack of motivation. In attempts to overcome this lack of motivation, rewards are offered. Many of us have heard, If only they were more motivated, they would do so much better on test and get better grades when having conversations about these individuals. The effect that is intended for the reward is often mistaken and therefore it can have the opposite effect of what was originally intended. Children who lack intrinsic motivation will get the wrong idea from receiving rewards. Sometimes when rewards are used, the student will find ways to excel in the task more so then when the reward is not in place (Amabile and Gitmore, 1984). Students with ... It is currently the poorest urban county in the United States with the majority of residents being people of color. For quite some time now the Bronx has been experiencing an influx of industrial activity. As it is a relatively cheaper area compared to the rest of the five boroughs, it is cheaper to buy property there. As a result, more and more companies are buying up the land and setting up shop in what is already a highly urbanized area. Not only is the Bronx bordered on all sides by busy highways, it is also home to a number of industrial buildings such as the country s largest distribution center, wastetransfer sites, power plants, and so much more. As of 2009, studies conducted by the CDC have shown that asthma impacts approximately one in every twelve people, and the numbers only continue to grow (CDC, 2011). Some of the most common symptoms can range anywhere from coughing (especially at night or during exercise), wheezing and chest tightness, to shortness of breath. Asthma is often a chronic condition and while many times it can present itself as being mild, it can also sometimes lead to death if a person suffers an asthma attack. Asthma can be genetic, but it can also be caused, as well as exacerbated by, environmental factors such as air pollution. Studies have shown that children living in the Bronx are experiencing asthma at levels eight times higher than the national average. In addition, rates of death from asthma are a whopping three times higher than the national average, and hospitalization rates at about five times higher. (Ruppell, 2000). Asthma is not a disease that targets only one group of people, yet the Bronx still exhibits disproportionately high levels of asthma especially in neighborhoods that are poorer areas of the city. In fact, people from these poor areas are 21 times more likely to be hospitalized due to asthmatic conditions compared to people from more affluent parts of the city (Ruppell, ... • 8. Pricing The Bond Option Of Vasicek And Cir Models Pricing the Bond option in Vasicek and CIR models Name: Huajun Liu Professor: Marco Pereira Course: Math 624 Date: 2016/12/18 1.Abstract This report is aimed to describe how we will use Python to build an application to price risky bond and the European options of the bond in stochastic hazard rate and interest rate models. We are going to simulate the path of interest rate using CIR model and simulate the path of hazard rate using Vasicek model. Then we will get the survival function from simulated hazard rate and get the bond price from it. Lastly we will price the European options of the risky bond based on the simulated bond price by using both closed form formula (Jamshidian, F. (1989)) and Monte Carlo simulation. 2.Introduction Today, an increasing number of risky bond options have been introduced to customers, but only a few customers can understand how to price a risky bond option. The credit derivative is a new type of financial derivative which is based on the credit condition of the loan developed in the 1990s, and its function is to separate the credit risk from other risks of the primary assets and transfer it to the counterparty. Also, credit derivatives can make credit risk appear in a more fluid and tradable form, which has a great application in improving the portfolio of returns and presenting a highly structured risk portfolio. Meanwhile, credit derivatives can be used in the investment market Avoid risks, and thus mobilize the credit market activity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. What Is Octavia Butler s Response To The Parable Of The Sower Parable of the Sower Response (Chapters 1 11) In an alternate reality eight years from now, America has become a ravaged landscape, dotted with walled communities. Islands amongst a shark infested ocean. Stars scattered across the emptiness of space. While this comparison may seem extreme, the similarities shared between Octavia Butler s post apocalyptic vision and present day America can be made apparent. Are we really living in delusional walled off communities? Many neighborhoods today are separated by both race and class. Like in the book, all Americans look forward to change, and yet change is just an elusive dream that the future will bring about a better tomorrow. Parable of the Sower is a reminder of how fragile we are as a country, and how we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One part that caught my attention the most was the ending of the space program by newly elected President Donner. Space is a recurring theme, introduced near the beginning of the book when Lauren talks to her grandmother about the visible stars in the sky, discussing how city pollution blocked out the view of the stars in the past. This is a symbolization of how modernization and the rise of powerful corporate companies envelopes people in the haze of normalcy and safety, depriving them of the drive to change. This introduces a concept where people are blinded by external sources from reaching the stars, where space and the stars represent truth, ambition, and curiosity. As mentioned before, the presidential command to cut all involvement of funding space programs marks the abandonment of all these values. In a way, the whole country of America is the walled off community of Robledo, afraid to venture into the unknown, and living in ignorance through the thought that its inhabitants will always live to see another day. Americans cannot progress by blinding themselves to the truth, and must confront the fact that one day all things will come to an end. Lauren s father explains to her that, You ve ... • 11. Examples Of Microaggressions In Get Out Microaggressions are now, more than ever, noticeable in the media. In the film, Get Out, director Jordan Peele uses microaggressions to illustrate his message that racism requires action with the use of discomforting methods, in the hopes of educating white people on their not so subtle racism. Throughout the film he utilizes the Armitage family s microaggressions toward black peopleto obtain the audience s attention. The specific audience he is targeting is white people, who are most commonly guilty of microaggressions. He overuses examples of microaggressions to cause his audience to feel awkward and uncomfortable, similar to how a black person may feel when faced with the same remarks. For example, when Rose Armitage invites her black boyfriend Chris to meet her family, he is bombarded with microaggressions upon his arrival. Her family appears to overcompensate and try to relate to him in any way possible. Rose s father, Dean, is usually the one who is making Chris feel uncomfortable. He not only constantly refers to Chris as My Man throughout the movie, but also states I [Dean] would have voted for Obama a third time if I [Dean] could (Peele). To a white person, her Dean s words would have gone unnoticed, but to a black person it is painfully obvious that he is trying to seem relatable to Chris. Other members of the family, such as Rose s brother Jeremy, also make Chris uncomfortable. He begins a conversation with Chris about sports, which leads to him saying you [Chris] could be a beast (Peele). It is evident that this makes Chris uncomfortable because he is being belittled for his genetic makeup. Other characters in the movie are also guilty of using microaggressions, such as Mr. Dray. While talking to Chris and Rose, he states that I [Mr.Dray] know Tiger (Peele). This is a version of the classic statement I have black friends , which has been a recurrent microaggressive phrase used by white people for decades. This statement is most often used when white people are trying to disprove that they are racist. Strangely, the most blatant microaggressive comment in the film came from an unnamed Asian man, who states Black is in fashion (Peele). Since the Asian man is a fellow minority, it is strange ... He is shot dead by police whilst taking hallucinogenic drugs and becomes trapped in an intermediate state of existence; his soul drifting high above the streets of the red light district of Tokyo watching over his now completely alone sister on a hallucinatory journey, intoxicated, neon lit with daring aesthetics that have to be seen to be believed. • 14. Friendship And Friendship In Life Kade Gardner Ginger Stepp Eng. Comp 1 25 September 2017 Things That Make Friendships Last a Lifetime There is a type bond that is made between a set people who want to go farther than being just acquaintances. A healthy friendship contains respect, people who respect each other by means of equal fashion. Friends should often care about the well being of the other person. Many friendships also include acts, whether they are acts of kindness that work towards the best interest of the other without requiring materialistic items in return. A healthy friendshipalso contains honesty. An act of kindness between friends can be seen when a young man who recently broke up with the girlfriend he was living with at that time and had nowhere else to go. The man s one buddy, who ended up discovering that his friend was on the verge of being homeless decided to go over and help him move out of his house into his house. The man s friend did not offer his assistance in the matter because he was asked but rather because it was the right thing to do at the time. He never asked for anything in return because he was helping a friend and it s the correct thing to do when you or someone you know needs help the most. Another example of this type of occurrence is when you are walking down the street and you take notice to somebody struggling carrying something, you out of common courtesy ask if they need help. They may not always take it but they will appreciate the thought. As humans, some of us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Competition In Hesiod s Work And Days In Hesiod s Work and Days, competition is frowned upon if it gets too strong, but in Homer s pieces, even petty, mostly unconstructive competition is encouraged. Hesiod proposes that there are actually two kinds of strife in his society, so one [kind of strife] fosters evil war and battle, being cruel: her no man loves...But the other [kind of strife makes] a man grow eager to work when he considers his neighbor (Readings in Greek History 16). In Work and Days, Hesiodargues that so called good strife is beneficial for human society, but that this strife should have a limit and should stop when it becomes irrelevant. The usual pace was slightly overwhelming and all my co workers had 2+ years of experience with the company. One night, about two months after I started working there, it was so incredibly busy that the line of customers measured out the door. As I frantically tossed food into hot grease, I fumbled with a box of jalapeГ±o poppers and dropped all of them on the floor. The cashiers, general manager and head cook all rolled their eyes at me and shuffled past the mess. As I started to pick them up to throw them away, I noticed someone else s hand helping. I looked up inquisitively and found Ralph Flannery s eyes, the owner of the restaurant, who owned a handful of the same restaurant chain in several other locations. After we cleaned up, he asked me to go to his office when things calmed down. I went to his office expecting to turn in my name tag. Ralph looked calm and cheery, which put me at a wearisome ease. He started by explaining how cheap and worthless a box of jalapeГ±o poppers were to him. Then Ralph transitioned to how expensive but valuable his employees were and finished by personalizing it with how important I am to him and his company s success. I was left speechless because this was a new experience to me. I sat there curious about what he had to say next. He said to me, Jacob, what if I invest in you? Would you invest in me? • 18. Similarities Between Malaysian And Japanese Moral Curriculum III. Moral Education Curriculum of Malaysia and Japan A. Similarities of the Moral Education Curricula The first aspect of similarity between the Malaysian and Japanese moral education is the subject is taught as an independent subject. The teaching period for Malaysian moral education is allocated in the school timetable. It is one of the core subjects taught to non Muslim students in all primary and secondary schools in Malaysia. In a week, three teaching periods of forty minutes each are allotted for the subject (World Data on Education, 2011). Similarly, following France which teaches moral education as a separate subject, Japanese moral education was established as special hour in the official Course of Study (World Data on Education, 2011). Therefore, as a teaching subject in school, like any other subject lessons, the Japanese moral education develops, incorporates and enhances its own instruction. Classified as general studies rather than academic study, it is taught once a week in elementary and lower secondary schools, allowing Japanese students from the first grade to the ninth grade to have 35 lesson hours of moral education in a regular school year (Bolton, 2015). Secondly, both Malaysian and Japanese moral education have explicit focus on nature. Malaysian moral education emphasizes on the love for the environment. Though this case there is an exception, as is evident in Exhibit 8. After the 18th hour the airport s arrivals are under operational capacity so the planes can be delayed to these later hours, making the system still able to function. This roll over effect helps relieve some of the over capacity at the 18th hour. b. For hour 17 there is a 12.52 minute delay time. The costs are $128.92 for the turbojet, $319.57 for the regional jet and $853.82 for the conventional jet. You cannot calculate the delay time/ delay cost for the 18th hour because the average arrival rate is greater than the total expected runway capacity. Under moderate weather conditions capacity drops down to 78 88 operations per hour. Under severe weather conditions the capacity drops to 40 60 operations per hour. In these weather conditions for both the 17th hour and 18th hour the arrival rate exceeds the runway capacity, and we cannot calculate the waiting time. For severe weather, even if you get the planes out at a later hour it would still take much longer than if there was moderate weather. Most planes will land in hour 19 because it s not as busy. 4. • 22. Intonation During Casual Speech Productions Intonation during casual speech productions can be observed at the discourse level using auditory analysis (Chun, 2002). In practice, speakers can utilise falling or rising intonations to represent various speech realisations such as statements, commands and/or explanations (Cruttendon, 1981). Speakers intonation choice may be situation specific and used as an entity of expression to generate meaning within particular groups of words (Chun, 2002). Interpretations of speakers speech style using statistical analyses have been the main focus in previous literatures, providing fruitful evidence on both pitch and linguistic variation and the relations to a more positive or negative connotation within languages. Henton (1989) demonstrated that the pitch level in linguistic variation could carry underlying connotations (positive or negative) such that in male speech, if expressed with low pitch, rumbling, under expressive and monotonous, can be expressive of a more negative connotation within the speech context. Subsequent studies addressed speakers abilities to accommodate sociophonetic speech to produce variants that are more similarly associated with the social characteristics of the audience (Bell, 1984), or a referee (Hay, Jannedy Mendoza Denton, 1999). Hay et al., (1999) attempted to demonstrate the prevalence of an interplay between speech style and the ethnic background of a referee by examining Oprah Winfrey s speech tendencies to monophthongise the diphthong /Г¦/. ... Textual Analysis Of Blow-Up BLOW UP is the story of a successful fashion photographer, Thomas (David Hemmings), who, whilst scouting for fresh subjects in a park one afternoon, photographs a mysterious couple in flagrante delicto. Upon returning to his studio loft later that day, he develops the pictures and discovers that he has inadvertently stumbled upon a murder. As a fashion photographer, Thomas is a creator of illusions that define a certain kind of young urban lifestyle and Antonioni s flagrant use of the loud, splashy, attention grabbing colors of billboard advertising a visual association elevated to an unholy apotheosis in his next film, ZABRISKIE POINT (1970) brings to the surface the transient sensation and hollow artifice that lies at the heart of all pop culture consumerism. Ethical Framework In Teleological Framework A case study was done on the closing of a textile manufacturing company in North Carolina, which decided to relocate the business to another country. The decision to transfer was based on the fact that the company would generate more revenue at a lower cost. However, the proponents of such a move were based on an ethical teleological framework decision. However, an ethical leader has certain qualities that are needed to build trust and develop sustainable relationships amongst numerous stakeholders (Eisenbeils Brodbeck, 2014). According to the reading in Unit V, the proponents and decision to move the textile company to Southeast Asia are based on the teleological framework. Teleological is based on one s consequences of action; nevertheless, these results of interests are those that affect the individuals directly. Additionally, teleological ethics determines the value of a moral action or a moral life result from that action or life; consequently, philosophies within teleological ethics are also known as consequentialist ethical theories (Kocyigit Karadag, 2016). In typical western narratives, the Sheriff is the strong hero who perseveres through battle with the antagonist, and the good guys always win. However, this novel disrupts this usual ending with the introduction of a unique antagonist, Chigurh. Chigurh breaks the mold of the typical old western villain in how he manages to outsmart the law and escape. His escape is a disastrous blow to the system of justice the Sheriffhas spent his life trying to maintain. Through this, the author displays a twisted, unhappy version of justice in Chigurh and how it compares to Sheriff Bell s typical, objective notion of justice on the western frontier. This interpretation showcases that sometimes justice is not between only good and bad, and good does not necessarily always win. With its alternative versions of justice, the novel illustrates the changing morality of the western frontier, the weakness of moral driven justice and how these opposing views create individual interpretations of justice compared to an objective standard. • 35. The Ambivalent Nature Of The Uncanny The notion of the uncanny is the key term for psychoanalysis and the psychoanalytical approach for interpretation of the art. The uncanny effect is ingrained not by something unfamiliar or something frightening but because it conveys something that has been lived through and exuded to the sphere of an unconscious. Freud s 1919 essay of the same name The Uncanny has been written for literary, psychoanalytic, critical, however not art purpose at all. It has erupted into aesthetics discourse (Walsh 21). The notion of the uncanny constitutes an inevitable part of Freudian theory of repression. This notion exemplifies eruption of the retrospect events in the actual time, whereas mnemonic representation has been perplexed by fragments. Thus,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An important insight is the understanding of the background, of the era at the beginning of the 20th century. Freud s thought evolves on a specific background around it, during the process of industrialization, development of the technologies from photo cinematic inventions to the mechanisms applied in war. Visual arts such as painting, motion pictures, photography were aimed at mirroring an uncovered epoch and life in it, together with the military conflict and further militarization which aligned a human being to a machine, an automaton (Freud 227), as a result these aspects threaten an ordinary, habitual way of life and trigger the inceptives of the uncanny sensations. Regardless the above mentioned foray of cutting edge machinery, Freud, nevertheless, derives the instances of sensus numinis from literary studies, namely Romantic and Gothic literature. These are the instances such as the opposition between being animate or inanimate which evokes intellectual uncertainty (Freud 221) whether the events or the objects that are presented to the intended reader by the writer are legitimate or fictitious, in other words, whether the situation is real or imaginary . A further source of the uncanny feeling that is delivered by Freud from psychoanalytical experience is anchored to the fear of castration (Freud 231). Freud refers this example to the ... • 40. Argumentative Essay On The Glass Castle Regularly, the finger of fault is uprightly pointed at parents who are unsuccessful at obligation in bringing up the child. On the off chance that parents mishandled their child, does not offer him/her security, and ignore his/her needs, society instantly criticizes them. As the child grows up, he or she even may feel disgraced by his/her parent. Nevertheless, occasionally, all it takes for the child to totally excuse the disappointments of the parent is for he/she to meet the child s basic needs and/or wants. In the book, The Glass Castle, Jeannette Wallsis characterized as that child, describing her most loved youthful memories she went through with her dad, Rex Walls, while looking at the best snapshots of her life, paying little respect to Rex s conspicuous negligence and devastation that negatively impacted different parts of her life. One of the many themes in The Glass Castle is that people need to forgive not just for the benefit of the person who has been wronged but for themselves to move forward. Jeannette Walls memoir The Glass Castle, is about her growing up with parents whose beliefs and persistent rebelliousness was both their curse and their salvation. The book starts when Walls is four years of age; she is gullible and energetic, and trusts her dad can t take the blame no matter what. The family ventures a great deal, living in Las Vegas, Blythe, and Battle Mountain (Nevada), San Francisco (California), Phoenix (Arizona), Welch (West Virginia), and New York City. Additionally, a great part of Walls memories happens while her family is in their car, traveling to new places. As the book advances, and she hits her pre adolescent years, she turns out to be less innocent and starts to acknowledge how strange her family truly is. Jeanette has a kind identity, she learns all through the novel to act naturally, dismissive and strong. As the brokenness of the family is raised, Walls and her siblings fought for themselves, supporting each other through their parents neglect and, finally, find the advantages and will to leave home. People need to have faith that things will work out for the best in the end. After all the neglect Walls experiences; sexual abuse at the hands of outsiders and relatives, ... I will attempt to give a summary of his talk here, but will preface that this is just a summary and does not do justice to the clarity, depth and beauty of his talk. He started by defining the word Redemption, which means to buy back or ransom. Human suffering, when united with Christ s, can remit punishment due to sin. This is not connected to forgiveness. Suffering can be offered up for others as an act of love. But as St. Catherine of Siena said, we must not go out looking for suffering, as in and of itself, it is not good.
