Photo 1
The people in the picture are women cooking for the town during the Great Depression, at bread lines.
The people can’t afford food so everyone in the town contribute what they have and share.
The photograph shows the struggle of the Depression and how everyone was shit broke. All the people
helped each other out during this time.
This picture is important to history because it shows a time when money wasn’t an option but people
still found ways to live, perseverance.
The questions that the picture creates is what were the Economic status of the people serving the food.
How many people were they helping out? Where are they cooking the food?
Citizens gathering to help out during the Great Depression.
We could find more information by enhancing the photo and finding out what they were cooking. The
jugs might have a label to show where they are from.
The man in the picture is wearing pretty nice clothes, but he is still seeking food from the women. The
food that they could collect still isn’t enough to feed the neighborhood. Everyone seems to pull
together when in hard times.
Photo 2
The people in the photo are Hitler, a child, and maybe his mother and a friend.
In the picture Hitler is shaking hands with the child and the women in the background are smiling.
The photographer was trying to show how Hitler was nice and favored German people, and German
people only. It also shows that German people respected him when he was their leader.
This picture shows the propaganda that was being spewed into the public to show that Hitler was a
great guy and his methods were right.
Did the child approach Hitler or was it the opposite? Who are the women in the background?
A German child bravely shaking the hand of Adolf Hitler.
Researching WWII and finding out how Hitler treated the people who supported him.
The people of Germany obviously supported him. Hitler was succeeding in winning over the trust of
German citizens. Hitler had a great influence on children.
Photo 3
The people in this picture are the police, with police dogs, and the people of the black community.
By the look of how the police and the dogs are acting towards the black man, it’s during the segregation
era. The black person was either protesting or was simply somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be.
The photographer wanted to show how the law enforcement acted towards the black community.
This picture is a reminder of how the black community was treated. They were and still are just people
like any other color in this world. This still goes on today and the photo tells us we should get better at
discrimination and definitely should not go back to that photo.
What did the black man do wrong in this picture? Where are they exactly? What happened to the black
man after this happened?
Black man being attacked by law enforcement, but nobody seems to be able to help.
Enhance the photo and find out where this is by the policeman’s badge. Find this exact report in police
records.
Nobody are this black man is helping him. One man versus three cops needs to have dogs attack him.
The cops seem to have no hesitation in what they are doing.
Photo 4
The people or objects in the photo are the Statue of Liberty and a random man being hanged from the
statue.
This is obviously a symbol or representation of something. The photo is edited to where there is a man
hanging from his throat off of the Statue of Liberty.
The photographer is conveying that liberty is not actually real. Justice is not actually real . For example, if
you were an innocent person accused of murder, then the odds are not in your favor and you might as
well hang yourself. The court system is dirty in other words.
It’s important to history in a sense that no matter how sad it is, we should n’t fully trust the court
systems and our Government.
What were the photographer’s intentions exactly? What does the man symbolize exactly? Does this
portray to an exact event? Is the man and actual, real -life person?
A man that had given up on Liberty and Justice.
I take in that I shouldn’t ignorantly trust our Government. I should watch my back with law enforcement
and the court systems. Edited pictures are still called photographs.
Photo 5
The people in the photo are a man, a women, and a child.
These people seem to be foreigners that have come to America and are seeing the Statue of Liberty for
the first time.
The photographer is capturing how life changing and astounding it was for foreigners to come to
America at that time.
The photo shows how the foreigners that we see today came to this country and how their parents were
giving them a better life. It makes me think of how the foreigners’ lives I know would be different if they
did not come.
Where did these people come from? What year is it? How did they get to America? Why were they
coming to America? Where are they now?
A foreign family seeing the Statue of Liberty for the first time.
Enhance the photo and if the Statue of Liberty is still being worked on, we could see what year it is by
what stage the statue is in.
Foreigners actually did come through New York. You can’t see their faces, but it still speaks a thousand
words.
Photo 6
The people in the photo are immigrants and Ellis Island guards.
The immigrants are going through their first physicals.
The photographer was probably taking a photo for a newspaper article.
Many people didn’t know immigrants went through interviews and physicals to come into the US.
Where are the immigrants from? Why were they coming to the US? What kind of things did they look
for on the immigrants?
Are you going to make it, or not?
Look up Ellis Island records. Enhance the photo to see what race they are.
Immigrants have nice shoes. Immigration was taken very seriously.
