1. My research project is on Marilyn Monroe. I choose her because of her
movies and modeling and her career. She had a lot of stuff happen in her life. She
was a very interesting person. Her child hood was bad and that kind of messed
her up for the rest of her life. She had a lot of trouble with men, this was most
likely because of her childhood. She was never happy even with her fame and
money. She always felt the need to do drugs and drink alcohol.
I choose a suicide note as my first artifact because of how interesting her
death was. I thought it would be good to do a suicide note since she committed
suicide and had a lot of mental and emotional problems. She always wanted
drugs and alcohol and that’s how she died. She over dosed on sleeping pills. I
thought a suicide note would be good because it could explain her feelings from
the night she died. She was upset about her relationships and her affairs with
John F. Kennedy. When he cut off the affair she got very depressed and went to
drugs and alcohol. This is why a suicide note was good for my first artifact.
For my second artifact I choose a news article. I choose a news article
because her death had a lot of suspicions about if it was a suicide or a murder.
They thought someone from the John F. Kennedy family faked her death as a
suicide but really they murdered her. In the News article I talked about her life
and the good and bad things that happened in it. When she was a little kid her
mother had a mental illness and tried smothering her with a pillow. She had to go
to a foster home where she was sexually assaulted and raped. She made a lot of
money by being one of the biggest sex symbols of that time. A news article lets
me talk about her life and everything that happened in it. That’s why I choose a
news article.
My third artifact is a movie poster. I did a movie poster on her movie “Some
like it hot”. That movie got very popular when it came out. I choose the back
ground of my movie poster of her because she was the star of the film. I put a tag
line of a lyric from her song. I put that because she sang that in the movie. This
was one of her biggest films that she acted in. I thought a movie poster would be
a good visual.
