Fish Bowl Story
Four Fish, Five Fish
All he can hear is silence and his movements in the wade pool. Swish swash. Swish swash. Trying
to occupy his time in eternal silence. Limited range of mobility. Swish swash. Swish swash. The end of his
world is a mirror. He stares into his reflection briefly, and all he sees is the desire not to be alone.
Then, out of nowhere, a vibration erupts his tiny acre of earth. He glances upwards, and sees a
huge figure staring at him intently. To his dismay, a little boy has an identical bowl just like his filled with
exactly 4 fish. He sits the bowl of fish on the table right next to the lonely fish’s bowl.
The fish could only see his kind for a glimpse, but he knew they were there. He was determined
to not be alone anymore. With all his might he swam to the bottom of his bowl. Then, before he ran out
of speed, he turned around and leapt from his home.
When the boy came back, he noticed one bowl had no fish in it. He looked into the other bowl
and counted exactly 5 fish.
