This document provides instructions for an obstacle race task as part of an army officer selection process. It describes 6 obstacles the groups must complete while carrying a rolled up tent, referred to as a "snake". The obstacles include climbing a ramp, navigating a figure 8 pattern, crossing a spider web, walking along a connecting log between two walls, climbing a single taller wall, and using a giant slide. Rules require the snake remain off the ground and be held by multiple group members at each obstacle. 2. Introduction
• It is the 4th task of GTO test series and last one in basic
series
• Group is made to compete with each other through a
series of 6 obstacles
• The group is expected to carry a load made of rolled up
tent and looks like a snake hence referred as snake race
as well
• Objective of the group is to reach first on finish line and
win the race
• Only 4 groups can participate with each group being
assigned separate channel
• High tempo task and group is excited

3. Rules
• Once picked up snake can not touch the ground till
finish
• Snake can not be shortened or folded
• Snake to take same course as the candidates
• While running snake must be held by all group
members and at least by 3 while negotiating
obstacles
• On completing one obstacle complete team to move
to next and not individually
• Colour rule applicable
• For rule violation GTO can impose penalities

4. Obstacle no 1:single ramp
the group is expected to climb up the ramp and
jump down carrying the load which must be held
by at least 4 candidate while crossing over

5. Obstacle no 2:Figure of eight
Group is expected to make a figure of 8 through the
obstacle demonstration for the same is given before
starting . Load is also expected to make fig of 8

6. Obstacle no 3:Spider web
Group has to simply cross over using web made of
ropes

7. Obstacle no 4:Double wall
two walls are connected by wooden log and
group is expected to walk up the log to cross over

8. Obstacle no 5:Single wall
Wall is higher than the double wall .Heavier to be sent up
by clasping hand by two candidates and atleast two must
remain on the wall to pull up others

9. Obstacle no 6:Giant slide
It is like a slide and group is to go up using
narrow steps carrying the load

10. Tips for success
• Be enthusiastic and keep cheering team
members
• If fit take initiative and help others
• Take responsibilities of snake
• Think of group and not individual. Team wins
• If rules violated own up when asked and repeat
obstacle if asked
• Every one gets tired don’t give up
