Gray wolves are carnivorous mammals that live in packs and hunt large and small animals. They typically eat 20 lbs. of meat per meal, which is equivalent to about 80 hamburgers. The greatest threats to gray wolves are conflicts with livestock farmers and people killing them due to fear and misunderstanding of the species. Conservation groups are working to promote wolf recovery throughout their natural ranges.
