‘Total Film’ Front Cover
Graphic Elements
MASTHEAD:
• This is the title and/or logo of the magazine.
• It identifies the brand. It is located at the top centre of the magazine. Total Film magazine is also designed to attract the audience from a cover. The word
“film” has a bold style where the word total is inside the letter ‘f’.
MAIN COVER LINE:
• This is the text that goes with the main image.
• It further explains the subject of the magazine being ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’
COLOUR SCHEME:
• The colour scheme of blue, orange and white are key colours associated with the film ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ – Blue adds to the futuristic theme of
‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’
MAIN IMAGE:
• This is the photograph or illustration that occupies the biggest area in the cover.
• This image of Chris Pratt - who plays the man character known as the ‘Star Lord’ image is in the middle of the magazine page and is placed in front of the
magazines masthead as he is notorious for playing this character in the film series this tells readers what the magazine is about through association of the
actor and the character he plays within the film series.
COVER LINES:
• Aside form the main cover line, there are others that flag up different issues inside the magazine.
• The cover lines mention other films of the same genre to reach the same target audience of those who would be interested in this film genre such as film
characters like ‘Han Solo’ that are widely recognised and familiar.
FONT TYPES
• The font types used in this magazine cover are futuristic and abstract. - ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ is written in the iconic font used throughout the movie
series
• Barcode
• The barcode is at the bottom centre of the magazine it contains the coded information about the magazine, such as price, issue number, etc.

• This is the title and/or logo of the magazine.
• It identifies the brand and is located at the top centre of the magazine. ‘SciFiNow’ magazine is also designed to attract the
audience from the cover, the font chosen for Sci-Fi magazine has futuristic and technological elements, conveying a sense of
otherworldliness in addition to this the ‘I’ is dotted with a depiction of a planet.
MAIN COVER LINE:
• This is the text that goes with the main image.
• It further explains the subject of the magazine being ‘Stranger Things’
COLOUR SCHEME / FONT TYPES:
• The colour scheme of red and white are key colours associated with the film series ‘Stranger Things’ – it’s unusual letter shapes
which relate to the theme of this film series. In addition to this the font is highly recognisable and is used it’s unusual letter
shapes and huge x –height we see this font used in the film series title as well as any other promotional materials relating to the
brand.
• The film series is is set in a classic red and white background. Red is the colour is the colour of passion and strength but in this
case represents danger, action and progress.
MAIN IMAGE:
• This is the photograph or illustration that occupies the biggest area in the cover.
• This image is of the main characters - who plays the main characters with Milly Bobby Brown – the actress who plays the main
character known as ‘Eleven’ who is famously recognised and therefore is in the centre of the magazine page and is placed above
the magazines masthead.
COVER LINES:
• Aside form the main cover line, there are others that flag up different issues inside the magazine which are all Sci-if movies
suitable for the same target audience for example ‘ Festival of Fear’.

• It identifies the brand. It is located at the top centre of the magazine. ‘EMPIRE’ magazine is also designed to attract the audience
from a cover. The word “EMPIRE” has a bold style which is replicated on their website.
MAIN COVER LINE:
• This is the text that goes with the main image.
• It further explains the subject of the magazine being ‘World exclusive Avatar the way of way of water’
COLOUR SCHEME:
• The colour scheme of shades blue, white and black which relate to the characters and theme of the film being water.
MAIN IMAGE:
• This is the photograph or illustration that occupies the biggest area in the cover.
• This image takes up the whole of the magazine cover and although there is an additional character in the background
everything is blurred and out of focus so the main character is immediately recognised and slightly obstructs part of the
masthead too.
COVER LINES:
• The cover lines mention other films of the same genre that reach the same target audience of those who would be interested in
this film genre such as film characters like ‘Michael Mann’ that are widely recognised and familiar.
• Aside form the main cover line, there are others that flag up different issues inside the magazine on the right hand side and
along the bottom of the cover.
• FONT TYPE:
• The magazine fonts consist of three colours black, white and blue. Blue has connotations of water which is hugely emphasised in
this film and therefore the colour scheme relates to the theme of the film.
