How and when to use MUCH
• Determiner/Emphasize
- The trip wasn´t much fun.
- Was there much discussion?
• Pronoun
- She didn´t say very much.
- Much of the book is mistaken?
• Adverb
- I don´t like this color much.
Countable and Uncountable
• Countable NOUNS.
Singular / Plural.
- One boy. - Many boys.
- One man. - Many men.
- One person. - Many people.
- One table. - Many tables.
* Use many with plural countable nouns.
Countable and Uncountable
• Uncountable NOUNS.
Singular / Plural?
- One music ? - Much musics ?
- One noise ? - Much noises ?
- Much money. - Much sugar.
- Much love. - Much water.
* Use much with uncountable nouns.
Grammar Patterns
1. To ask about an amount of something.
(how + much + uncountable noun + ?)
- How much milk do you take on your tea?
- How much did the meal cost?
- How much money do you have left?

2. To talk about an amount or degree of something.
(so/too/as + much + uncountable noun)
- I have so much work to do.
- They spend too much on their clothes.
- You can have as much as you like.

3. To talk about small quantities.
(not + (very) + much + uncountable noun)
- There isn´t very much coffee left.
- You haven´t eaten much.
- How much does he earn? - Not much.

4. To emphasize a comparison.
(much + more/less + adjetive + (than))
- London is much more expensive than before.
- Karen is much less older than Jhon.
- How are you feeling? - Much better, thank you.

5. To emphasize that something is excessive.
(much + too + adverb/adjetive)
- You are driving much too fast.
- This sofa is much too expensive.
- It´s much too cold to go swimming.

(verb + very/so/too + much)
- I liked the concert very much.
- Thank you so much for the flowers.
- You worry too much.

7. To talk or ask about degrees and frequencies.
(not + verb + (very) + much)

- Do you go back home much?
