This document defines and provides examples of the use of common adverbs and adverbial phrases in English:
So is used to indicate extent or result, such as "I was so hot that I couldn't sleep." More is used to indicate additional amounts of uncountable or countable nouns. Too and very both indicate extremity, with too used for unmanageable levels and very for manageable levels, such as "It's too cold" versus "It's very cold." Enough indicates sufficiency and usually follows adjectives or precedes nouns it modifies. Examples are provided to illustrate the proper uses of these terms.
