It is much safer to have a System that monitors and communicates to the device owner.
This tends to utilize the availability of GSM network, mobile phone and electronics circuit to achieve an automated system which is programmed to work as a thinking device to accomplish this purpose.
Global system for mobile communication (GSM) is a wide area wireless communications system that uses digital radio transmission to provide voice, data, and multimedia communication services. A GSM system coordinates the communication between a mobile telephones (mobile stations), base stations (cell sites), and switching systems.
. The power supply provides the voltage and current required for effective performance of the system. This supply is tapped from the car battery and then regulated before being fed to the system.
i. If the system is active, it monitors both the car doors and boot to check if anyone is opened.
ii. Demobilizes the car by disconnecting the ignition line from the battery supply via the actuator .
iii. Sends text message to the car owner signifying where the attempt is made from, and finally
iv. Starts up an alarm for alert purpose.

A GSM system consists of a modem. The modem acts as a modulator and demodulator for GSM signals. The relevant messages are also displayed on a computer screen.

the signal of satellites to calculate a position (latitude and longitude) and send the data to Micro controller.
All function is done by Micro controller. MCU read the information of GPS Modem and display on LCD. In
the vehicle, has different sensor’s like, Fire Detection, CNG gas Leakage, Smoke detector or vibration
sensor etc. When any sensor detected in vehicle, MCU send location and sensor status VIA SMS to user.
In this project PIC microcontroller is used for interfacing to various hardware peripherals. The current
design is an embedded application, which will continuously monitor a moving Vehicle and report the status
of the Vehicle on demand. For doing so an PIC16Fxxx microcontroller is interfaced serially to a GSM
Modem and GPS Receiver. A GSM modem is used to send the position (Latitude and Longitude) of the
vehicle from a remote place. The GPS modem will continuously give the data i.e. the latitude and
longitude indicating the position of the vehicle. The GPS modem gives many parameters as the output,
but only the NMEA data coming out is read and displayed on to the LCD. The same data is sent to the
mobile at the other end from where the position of the vehicle is demanded. An MCU Internal EEPROM is
used to store the mobile number

Here we are making a project which just traces our vehicle location, in terms of its precise latitude and longitude and then send it to a mobile number (as per our requirement). This project consists of three main devices which are :- (i) Arduino UNO, (ii) GPS module (Neo-6M), & (iii) GSM- 900A.These all three devices will be going to be installed in the vehicle to which we want to trace. Initially what happened that we make a program in arduino (in C language) regarding interfacing the GSM device and GPS device. And we also set a mobile number in the program as per our need, on which we get the info regarding its (vehicle’s) location. First of all we make a call to the mobile number which has been installed in the GSM module and then after some specific delay (as per mentioned in the program) we get a sms regarding the exact latitude and longitude of the vehicle. It is done in a way that GPS device is continuously receiving the location of the vehicle from the satellite and then transferring to the arduino board, from where we send it to the required mobile no. And hence in this way we can easily get info regarding the exact location of the vehicle. Once the message has been sent to the predefined mobile no. the GSM gets deactivated and the GPS gets activated. Thus we can easily trace our vehicle. Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) is the technology used to determine the location of a vehicle using different methods like GPS and other radio navigation systems operating through satellites and ground based stations. This system is an important tool for tracking each vehicle at a given period of time and now it is becoming increasingly popular for people having expensive cars and hence as theft prevention and retrieval device.

The Proposed design is cost-effective, reliable and has the function of accurate
tracking. When large object or vehicles were spread out over ground, the owner
corporations often found it difficult to keep track of what was happening. They required
some type of system to determine where each object was at any given time and for how
long it travelled. Also the need of tracking in consumer’s vehicle use to prevent any kind of
theft because police can use tracking reports to locate stolen vehicle. GSM and GPS based
tracking system will provide effective, real time vehicle location, and reporting. A GPS-
GSM based tracking system will inform where your vehicle is and where it has been, how
long it has been. The system uses geographic position and time information from the Global
Positioning Satellites. The system has an "On-Board Module" which resides in the vehicle
to be tracked.

This module consists of accident alert system, GPS Module, GSM
Module, ARM controller unit and the output. If the has this module, then each and
every time wherever its going all information will be send to the care taker Via
GPS and GSM. Here GPS receiver each every time receives the co-ordinates of
the location from satellite and sends that to ARM controller. The ARM controller
analyses the signal and sends the same information to the caretaker via GSM
module. If something happens wrong ARM controller will activates the buzzer.

10. 7.CONCLUSION:
As this project is based on micro-controller(ARM7LPC2148), GPS and
GSM and this is designed and developed a low cost system based on integration
of GPS and GSM data is described. The system consists of different modules
which are linked wirelessly with GSM modems. Cost effective SMS service of
GSM network is used for the transfer of data between the modules. This service
provides the information about the location of the place where the vehicle is going
via GPS and GSM Module at each and every time.
