Gorillaz is a British virtual band created in 1998 by artist Jamie Hewlett and musician Damon Albarn. It consists of four animated band members - 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. Though virtual, Damon Albarn provides vocals for 2-D. Their music blends pop, dub, hip hop and rock. Their debut album in 2001 sold over 7 million copies, earning them a Guinness World Record. Their 2005 album Demon Days sold over 15 million copies. Gorillaz continues to release albums and will perform live in London later in April.

History Gorillaz was invented in 1998 when Jamie and Damon were sharing a flat in Westbourne Grove (near our school) They had the idea when they were watching MTV (a music channel) They thought that the music videos were rubbish. So they came up with the idea of making a virtual band to let the world listen to and watch a more entertaining kind of music with a different type of videos.
