Most obviously, the director uses jump cut. This editing technique is characterized
by making an omission in a continuous scene or shot as a result of a sudden switch
between the scenes (Gianetti, 2011). By using jump cut, Shapiro tries to create a
dramatic point. For instance, the director uses jump cut at 5:37 switching between the
scenes the first one, in which God tells Ike of His intention to destroy the Earth, and
the other one, in which the reporter talks about God s upcoming book.
The director of the short film also uses cross cutting. Cross cutting is the editing
technique that enables an editor to mix the shots of two or more action lines that
