How To Write A Scientific Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of composing a scientific essay can be a challenging
endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in conveying the essential steps of scientific essay writing
but also in striking a balance between technical precision and engaging prose. Scientific essays
demand a meticulous approach, requiring the writer to navigate through the realms of research
methodology, data analysis, and critical evaluation.
One of the hurdles faced in such an essay is the necessity to distill complex scientific concepts
into clear and comprehensible language. Striking the right chord between accessibility and depth
can be a daunting task. Moreover, there is the constant challenge of upholding the principles of
objectivity while presenting arguments and findings.
The research phase itself adds a layer of difficulty. A well-crafted scientific essay necessitates
extensive exploration and understanding of the chosen topic, delving into existing literature, and
synthesizing information into a coherent narrative. Proper citation and referencing further
complicate the writing process, as adherence to specific style guides is paramount.
Another challenge lies in maintaining a logical flow throughout the essay. Transitioning
seamlessly from introduction to methodology, results, and conclusion requires a deft hand at
organizing information. Ensuring that each section serves its purpose in building a compelling
argument can be a delicate balancing act.
Additionally, writing a scientific essay involves rigorous editing and proofreading. Ensuring
clarity, coherence, and adherence to the prescribed format demands a keen eye for detail. The
need to eliminate ambiguity and refine language for precision adds another layer of complexity.
In conclusion, producing a high-quality essay on the intricacies of writing a scientific essay is no
small feat. It involves mastering the art of conveying complex ideas clearly, navigating the
intricacies of scientific research, and maintaining a balance between technicality and
accessibility. It's a task that demands not only writing prowess but also a deep understanding of
the scientific method.
For those seeking assistance in navigating the challenges of scientific essay writing, it's worth

Business Collaboration, Rather Than Market Competition
IS BUSINESS COLLABORATION, RATHER THAN MARKET
COMPETITION, BECOME THE KEY TO SUCCESS? INTRODUCTION Today s
fast growing market requires mutually beneficial partnerships to gain creativity,
experience, processes, technology and resources with both right and left brain
thinkers, that helps in achieving extraordinary achievements in lesser time which
technically framed as collaboration. By making partnerships or collaborating
externally, companies are able to innovate and get develop much more quickly and
even create solutions of too many problems with an effective and efficient way.
(Mudge, et.al 2014) Competition can be define as it is the rivalry among sellers
who are trying to achieve same goals such as increasing profits, market share and
sales volume by varying price, product, distribution and promotion (Wikipedia,
2014). In market competition, innovative business firms are ever conscious of the
competitors and have a constant look on differentiating their brand and product by
many different innovations and developments (Ukessays.com, 2014). With a happier
working team, collaboration represents an educated one. This is because it naturally
inspires a sense of community within an organization and employees feel almost
like they are a part of a family. Further, it also allows employees to learn from each
other (Elcomcms.com, 2014). The worldwide internet has been a fantastic enabler for
greater collaborations. Social media channels allow individuals to connect, discuss,
Rise Of Stardom
Stardom can be read from another angle in the 1950s. Even while actors received
much fame they were still under the control of producer and studio, who assigned
actors to pictures in their range and within the range of the audience expectations
(Schickel 91). This system prevailed even after the Supreme Court ruling of 1948.
Actors gained so much from Hollywood but became victims of the same few died
young and others had troubled private lives. Studios continued to own their actors
despite the shift in filmproduction. For instance Marilyn Monroesigned a seven year
contract with Fox in 1950 and those who tried to build a career outside the studio
system were vulnerable like the black actress Dorothy Dandridge. She found it
difficult to survive in a white dominated industry though she achieved mainstream
success through musicals such as Carmen Jones (1954)... Show more content on

She relied on her singing talents to getby. Ava Gardner and Natalie Wood used
their industry relationships to make advancements in their career (Halliwell 171).
Studio lost its power and grip over the star system in the early to mid 50s and it
continued well into the next decade. Stars became independent and as free lance
agents thy moved from studio to studio for individual pictures and it ushered in an
era of the new superstar. James Stewart became a pioneer who decided to freelance
and demanded half of the profit of his movies. Other star treaded his path and
demanded payment for an individual film basis and this resulted in huge star
salaries and the formation of their own production companies. Directors feared that
the soaring salaries would ruin the film business and by 1959 the production of
films in the US dropped about 250 films a year. The theatrical going audience also
dropped. More Asian and European films flooded the theatre such as Rashomon
(1950), The Seven Samurai (1954), Pather Panchali (1955) and The 400 Blows
(1959). These films were exhibited in art houses and

I weave in and out of the last of the summer apple trees, beside the deep pool, the
weeping willows cry out as the wind rattles their bones. The howling tempestuous
wind carries me into a clearing where a little girl, with her hair like an inferno
splayed around her head like a delicate band, lies asleep in the silvery moonlight. I fly
right up to her and land on her chest, where a scarlet black rose lies dead upon her
breast. I wake up. I don t know where I am. My vision is blurred. I can just make out
that it s dark and that I am lying on my back among the late autumn leaves. As I
blink again a little bit more comes in to my view, laying on my chest is a dead rose
of blackened rouge; just lying on top of one of the petals was a little... Show more

I should head to the pond again, something new may have appeared. I race there,
tripping and ripping my dress so just a modest amount remains, my shoes have
fallen off; lost to the monster that is the forest. I clutch the dying rose to my chest;
its thorns cutting into my skin, hoping what little warmth I can give suffices to
keep it alive for a little longer. I amble around the boundary of the pond, looking in
every nook and cranny, all I find is a dead pearl white rabbit and a few rotten bones
and coins. I sit in the mauled root of the shrinking willow tree that I tripped over
previously; as I sit there I feel my eyelids getting heavier and heavier. My head
throbs with pain, there is no comparison possible in the world. I take the rose away
from my chest: to see only one petal left. I now understand that it is my life. When
it dies, I die. I ve never been much of a horticulturist, always killing plants, funny

The American Medical Association (AMA) has declared...
The American Medical Association (AMA) has declared obesity a disease.
Obesity means that an individual has too much body weight that could possibly
cause a health risk. Having a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher makes an
individual morbidly obese. A healthy BMI would be from 20 to 24.9. The United
States has one of the highest obesity rates in the world with an estimated of 36% of
American adults suffering from it. It is important to not label obesity as a disease
because it leads 78 million adults and 12 million children in America into feeling
helpless, and takes them away from believing it s importance as a condition that is
the result of eating too much and living sedentary lifestyles. Obesity is a choice one
makes. If an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a cultural stigmatization with obesity. When one thinks of obesity, they
think the obese person has no motives and are lazy and do not value achievement
as much as one that is not. Obese people are also viewed negatively in the media.
Because one out of every five American children ages 6 to 19 are obese, children
are also psychosocially affected. This can cause children to bully students who
look like what these people who are negatively viewed in the media, obese.
Because of how obese people are treated socially, it can lead to depression. The
AMA s ruling to have obesity classified as a disease is in fact a way to receive
more federal dollars and to accomplish this they get obesity treatments covered
under government health plans. The way federal government, health care payers,
as well as confidential insurers cover obesity will modify and open up various
treatment alternatives for obese patients with financial support for anti obesity
initiative. With more than a third of U.S adults obese, the AMA s Council on
Science and Public Health cautioned that labeling obesity as a disease could deepen
patient and provider dependence on surgical treatments and pharmacological to
attain a specific body weight and they will persist on a path to obesity if they do not
foster a healthy lifestyle due to detracting. One might argue that genetics plays a role
in obesity and that it is not always a choice. There are studies that imply
Cultural Conflict In Tuptim s The King And I
The King and I takes place in Bangkok, Siam in the year 1862; after a recently
widowed English schoolteacher, Anna Leonowens, and her son, Louis, move
there to give the King of Siam s children and wives a westernized education in
hopes that this will plunge Bangkok into the modern world. Anna struggles with
the king because their cultural beliefs are so different, but the conflict diminishes
after the king finds out that Britain would like to take over Siam. He calls upon
Anna to help him look less barbaric and she advises him to invite the British and
show them how wrong they are by dining with them and showing a play written by
Tuptim, the king s latest wife, based on Uncle Tom s Cabin. After the play Tuptim
runs away with her lover, but is caught and returned to the palace where the king
kills her lover and Tuptim is never seen again to Anna s dismay. She decides to
leave Siam, but on the day of her departure she is informed that the king is sick; she
returns to see him right before he dies and his son is made king to rule in the ways
of the West.
The main conflict in The King and I is a cultural dispute between Anna s western
ideas and the king s traditional cultural values. From the very beginning, they
establish this issue by showing Anna, Louis and the ship s captain dressed in
western clothes with Anna wearing a crinoline and Louis and the ship s captain
dressed in a suit being met by the Prime Minister of Bangkok who is dressed in
traditional Siamese clothes. They
The Theme Of Survival In Maus By Art Spiegelman
After the Holocaust on May 8th, 1945, a book called Maus was released which is
revolved around survival. The author, Art Spiegelman intended the story was to
reflect upon his past and express his feelings world how he had to deal life was at
the time. The book is a story of Art s father named Vladek, he tells his point of view
to the world to show multiple struggles he had to withstand. The theme of Art
Spiegelman s book Mausis survival; Art Spiegelman shows the theme of survival by
using tone, mood, and point of view throughout the graphic novel. Vladek is the
main character of Maus and shares his point of view. Vladek tells a true story about
how he survived the Holocaustand the things he had to accomplish to make it
through alive. This book is based on a true story of what had happened during the
Holocaust.
The tone in Maus is depression; this is shown when Vladek tells the story in his
perspective and reveals what kind of events occurred during the Holocaust. This
relates to survival because even though Vladek had a feeling of discouragement
through his experiences, he still managed to survive. Vladek explains when he was
captured as a war prisoner and what they gave them to eat. The other prisoners get
two meals a day. We Jewsget only a crust of bread and a little soup. (Spiegelman, 55)
This shows how hard it was for the Jews and how hopeless Vladek s story was.
Another heartbreaking part of the story was when Vladek had to work hard and act
as slaves to the
Comparison Of Alfred And Uncle Farrell
A teenager named Alfred Kropp lives in a small apartment with his Uncle Farrell,
who is a security guard. He stays mostly secluded, both at home and at school. A
man named Arthur Myers calls Alfred s uncle at work, and offers one million
dollars for the return of an object stolen from him, a sword, by Uncle Farrell s boss,
Bernard Samson. Basically, Alfred has to break into the main office, find the safe,
and steal the sword himself, accidentally cutting himself on the blade. Then when he
is about to leave, he is attacked by three monks armed with swords as well. A battle
ensues, but Alfred manages to defeat them though he has never fought with a sword

heir of Lancelot and that he is the heir of Bedivere, the knight who was charged to
put Excalibur back into the lake when Arthur died, but who could not resolve to do
it, leading to the conflict between Mogart who is revealed to be a former knight
banished by Samson, and the rest of the Order. Bennacio explains that as the heir
of Bedivere, he feels guilty and wants to make amends for his ancestor s failure.
Then they steal a Ferrari Enzo, but are attacked by more of Mogart s henchmen.
Bennacio kills them when he has the chance and then continues on their journey.
They stop at the house of a deceased knight, Windimar. Though Windimar s mother,
Miriam, does not want to welcome Alfred at first, resenting him for her son s death
since he stole the sword, Bennacio manages to convince her and they spend the
night in the house. The next day, before they leave Miriam, who can foretell the
future, tells them Alfred will forsake Bennacio, resulting in the knight s death and
she tells Alfred he will die as well, killed by Mogart. They leave the next day, and
get attacked once again. This time there are six of them on Suzuki Hayabusas.

William Golding Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
William Golding s Lord of The Flies follows a group of young boys who are
stranded on an island after their plane crashes, and leaves them with no adults to
look after them. When the children are brought together, after Ralph blows conch
shell that he and Piggy found together, another group of boys shows up last. They
seem to be described in a rather ominous fashion. Then the creature stepped from
the mirage on to the clear sand, and they saw that the darkness was not all shadow
but mostly clothing. (p19) Although this is just a bunch of young boys walking up
the beach, the way Golding compares them to a creature and darkness makes it
seem like there is something evil walking toward Ralphs and the group. Later in the
book, all of the boys develop a rational fear that there is some sort of beast in the
forest. In reality, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept can be seen through metaphors hinting at the idea of malevolence in
the boys. Golding is trying to show us the idea that each and every one of us has a
beast inside, and all it takes is the absence of law to let the primitive side of us take
over. Accordingly, one of the characters, Jack, becomes obsessed with hunting, and
early on we see him act similar to a dog. William Golding draws a direct comparison
to Jack being dog like. Furthermore, we can see one of the other boys, Ralph, trying
his best to stay civil, and do the right thing, He found himself understanding the
wearisomeness of this life, where every path was an improvisation and a
considerable part of one s waking life was spent watching one s feet. (p76) In this
metaphor, we see Golding comparing these two states of mind, evil and humane, to
paths. This helps him explain that you have to watch where you are going on the
metaphorical path. The boys eventually stray down the wrong path, and their acts

Italy: 7th
1.How do you suppose living conditions differ between the countries furthest along in
the demographic transition compared to the country earliest in the transition? How
would living conditions in these two countries affect both birth and death rates?
The living condition for countries earlier in the demographic transitions such as
health and food supply are improving. Thus better health conditions decrease death
rates and more food supply can lead to increasing birth rates. Since living conditions

Italy reached a stable population much earlier than Nigeria. While the total
population for Italy stayed small, Nigeria has approximately 7 9 times more
population for each age group. Italy is further in the demographic transition and
already had a declining growth rate keeping the population fairly small. In contrast,
Nigeria is barely a developing country with a much higher growth rate thus creating a
greater ending population. In terms of land and rural area, Nigeria has more land to
expand and sustain this population size.
6. Many Western European countries are giving monetary incentives to employees
who have multiple children. Why would they do this? How would a baby boom
change Italy s demographics?
Western European countries are giving monetary incentives to employees with
multiple children because their population is decreasing and they want the
population to increase. The average birth rate is 1.28 children per woman, not
enough children are born to replace their parents. A baby boom would increase the
population in Italy, that generation will then have more babies and cause an increase
in population. 7. What would Egypt have to do in order to reach a zero growth rate?
What kinds of challenges might the Egyptian government face in trying to implement
these measures?
Egypt would have to decrease their average birth rate to around 1.69 children per
woman or increase the age group at which they
Nurse Driven, Sleep Hygiene Protocol, A Source Of Anxiety...
The inability to sleep is a source of anxiety and stress for patients in the intensive care
unit (ICU); this inability can lead to cardiorespiratory disturbances, immune system
dysfunction, impaired wound healing, hormonal and metabolic imbalances, cognitive
changes, and delirium. Through the use of quiet times and nursing actions that
encourage sleep, or, sleep hygiene bundles, nurses can assist in improving sleep
quality in the ICU. These bundles include noise and light reduction, scheduling
routine procedures outside of reserved sleep times, the use of earplugs and eye
masks, and the grouping of nursing care activities to minimize sleep interruptions.
The aim of this proposal, therefore, will be to implement a nursedriven, sleep
hygiene protocol, in order to improve patient care by promoting quality sleep in ICU
patients. Barriers to implementation include staff resistance to the concept, concerns
regarding patient care during sleep times and difficulties in coordinating care with
other units. Studies used to gather information for this proposal were published
between the years of 2011 and 2016 and were found in several databases: Academic

Sarah Ruhl s Eurydice
In the 2003 play Eurydice , Sarah Ruhl reconstructs the classic Greek myth,
Orpheus, into a postmodernist body of work offering a new way of perceiving their
love. The death of Sarah s father highly influenced the playwriting and main themes
in the play as she wrote the play in order to cope with the loss of her father and help
her continue her adulthood without him. Written in the perspective of Eurydice, the
play follows her insecurities from life to death and the memories she holds. Sarah
Ruhl s creation of minimalist structures and absurd interactions furthers the overall
theme that one s love can hold deep value, but on the contrary can also hold one
back from life experiences, life opportunities, and overall personal growth.

Not only did she leave her husband and wedding, she follows a strange man
claiming to have a letter from her father. Instead of celebrating one of the happiest
day of her adulthood, she clings to the love she has for her father and the
opportunity to rekindle past memories with her dead father. Eurydice s absurd
choices and morals made it impossible for her to move on and progress as an adult.
The result of this, is her unfortunate death and trip to the underworld. Her death
illustrates how one s love can hold an extreme amount of value, but one s love can
also cause one to lose all the opportunities life has to offer and opportunities of
personal growth. Upon her arrival to the underworld, she was stripped of her
memory and reunited with her father. Her father then goes on to help her regain her
memory and he teaches her how to comprehend again. She begins to regain her
memories and her father helps her read the letters Orpheus sends to her. Orpheus
arrives in the underworld to rescue her and he can, but under strange circumstances.
When walking he out of the underworld and back into the land of the living, he
cannot turn around. An example of absurdity is present in the

A Resemblance Of Harmonious Discord
A Resemblance of Harmonious Discord In eighteenth century England, the proper
use of wit in literary writing was highly regarded. While there are numerous view
points on that which truly constitutes wit, the conceptions offered by Joseph
Addison and Samuel Johnson are among the most recognized and accepted. On
page 2653 of The Norton Anthology of English Literature, Addison s notions on
that which he calls true wit are eloquently reasoned: In order therefore that the
resemblances in the ideas be wit, it is necessary that the ideas should not lie too
near one another in the nature of things; for where the likeness is obvious, it gives
no surprise (Addison 2653). Where false wit deals in the mere association or
comparison of one thing to another, true wit offers the reader something unusual a
unique and unexpected resemblance of ideas (Addison 2654). In similar regard,
Johnson s views on wit relayed in the aforementioned anthology on page 2948
express a need for more than the mundane, a contradiction to that which is
commonly observed: But wit, abstracted from its effects upon he hearer, may be
more rigorously and philosophically considered as a kind of discordia concors
[harmonious discord]; a combination of dissimilar images, or discovery of occult
resemblances in things apparently unlike (Johnson 2948). Though Joseph Addison s
and Samuel Johnson s notions of true and intellectual wit are discernable within a
number of eighteenth century works, these ideals are

Impact Of Prematurity On Development Essay example
Impact of Premature Birth on Development
Years ago, premature birth almost always meant death for the baby. Today, however,
we have the technology to nurture these infants development, and many of them
survive to lead normal, healthy lives. Although, very premature infants (that is, those
born before about the fifth month) are still not likely to survive, many born at five
months and older will thrive. Some preterm babies, however, do have many
obstacles to overcome. There are a variety of medical problems that affect some of
them, they may have impaired mental or physical conditions, and they may be looked
upon by others in their environment as slow, or they might be treated differently

This still puts them in the same IQ range as their full term peers. They are more
likely to need special education classes later in life, though, and more likely to have
to repeat a grade in school. This is most likely because some premature infants have
been shown to have some cognitive impairment when compared to full term infants
of the same age. Their memories are not as good, and their information processing
speed is significantly lower.
There have been many studies performed that compare the cognitive performance
of preterm infants with full term infants. One study in particular, performed by
Susan A. Rose and Judith F. Feldman, tested the memory and the processing speed
of preterm children versus full term children at the age of eleven. They used the
Colorado Specific Abilities Test, which is a comparison of eight paper and pencil
tasks the child must perform. This test showed the degree of these four abilities:
memory, perceptual speed, spatial ability, and verbal ability. They also used the
Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) which is a detailed exam of memory and speed.
This test shows us exactly what aspects of speed and memory it is that pre and full
term children differ in, and how much this difference actually affects them. It is
comprised of a set of basic cognitive tasks used to study the individual elements of

Following in the Path of Other Countries: Why the U.S. Should Lower the Legal
Drinking Age Since 1984, the United States legal drinking age has been twenty
one, as stated in the National Minimum Drinking Age Act (NMDAA). Before this,
age restrictions varied from state to state, ranging from eighteen to twenty one. The
age restriction was set at twenty one when an increase in alcohol related car
accidents came about, and the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) insisted
on a change (Minimum Drinking Age). This change was made solely on car
accidents due to eighteen to twenty year olds under the influence. When we reach
the age of eighteen, we are automatically allowed to vote, serve in the military,
serve on juries, and in some states: gamble, consent to sexual acts legally, and
purchase handguns (Carpenter and Dobkin). At fifteen years, most states allow us to
operate a vehicle with a guardian, later driving by ourselves at sixteen. Per the laws
made for rights given at eighteen, this is the age when we become legal adults. The
United States should model other countries and lower the legal drinking ageto
eighteen because it would reduce teenage rebellion, lower the risk to others on the
road, and decrease fake... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This proves that it is the twenty one year olds causing more alcohol related car
accidents, not the underage drinkers. Drinking and driving has been illegal since
1910, when New York adopted the law (The History of Drunk Driving Laws in the
U.S.). Since most of underage drinking happens on college campuses, at houses, or
before concerts, driving is imperative and is hard to avoid. Lowering the drinking
age allows for eighteen to twenty year olds to drink responsibly at bars and
restaurants where binge drinking is less common and alcohol intake is under
Why Is Juror 8 Important In 12 Angry Men
In the script of 12 Angry Men , Juror Eight often makes arguments of how the
evidence was not as strong as it first appeared within the courtroom. The most
evident point of this is when the jurors are discussing how the boy must ve killed
his father because he had admitted to buying a similar looking switch knife earlier
that day. However, juror Eight disproved that the knife was one of a kind as the
store clerk said because he went out and bought an identical one in a little junk
shop around the corner from the boy s house. It cost two dollars. . Juror Eight
continually analyzes the facts deeper than just seeping to be true or not. Not much
later, he whether or not the old man in the flat below truly could ve heard I m
going to kill you! . Juror 8 realizes that if you take the woman from across the street
s testimony into account, the el train would ve been passing and it likely would ve
been to loud to hear anything over, especially for an old man. Juror Eight most
likely used logic in this case because it s easy to change someone s mind with facts;
as people enjoy feeling secure in their decisione with something that has been proven.

In the beginning of the play, Eight is the only man to vote not guilty and he stands
his ground despite everyone s annoyance with him. Juror Two argues I think he s
guilty! to which juror Eight replies, No reasons just guilty. There is a life at stake
here. Juror eight maintains the stream of thought that there s a doubt of if the boy is
guilty and so they shouldn t just sentence him to his death. He states later in the play,
I have a doubt in my mind. when the other jurors state that he thinks the boy isn t
guilty. Perhaps juror Eight took on this persona in order to seem comforting; someone
that can provide facts but also has emotions that will understand the influence of

Frankenstein: Romanticism
The novel, Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, demonstrates many different romantic
ideals such as, the adoration of nature, extreme location, nationalism and exaggeration
of emotions. The romantic movement was in response to the reason and logic
dominated enlightenment era. Frankenstein, contrary to the enlightenment,
demonstrates romanticism through glorifying one s feelings and straying from the
classroom towards nature. Shelley s ideals paralleled that of: Edmund Burke, Jean
Jacques Rousseau, Mary Wollstonecraft, John Locke and the poem, The Rime of the
Ancient Mariner , all of which express romantic ideals.
Nature is very important to romantics; it is a departure from the enlightened ideals of
study and the classroom environment. Dr. Victor Frankenstein shows a great
appreciation of nature through diction, especially through Edmund Burke s idea of
the sublime. Burke s article, On the Sublime, defines sublimity in relation to nature,
astonishing [...] with a degree of horror , which is a feeling Dr. Frankenstein
frequently describes when he is in nature. In one passage, Frankenstein uses the
words, troubled , awful majesty , wonderful and stupendous , vast and glittering
(Shelley 101). These words resemble the sublime by combining the beauty of nature
and the terror it s vastness brings, just as Burke illustrates. Shelley also uses imagery.
Imagery portrays the beauty that the character s see in nature to the reader. One

appearence and reality Essay
Appearance and Reality
In Chapter One Bertrand Russell basically wants to know the true meaning of
reality . The truth is that reality can never truly be determined. I say this because
there is a difference between believing and actually knowing. For example I know
the desk in the front of the classroom is real. I know this because all of my senses
concur. Now when I try to determine to color, the texture or even the shapeof the desk
I will run into a problem.
Just as the example given in the text, the tables color may look difference according
to the amount of light that is on it. If the amount of light is changed the shade of the
color will also change, therefore making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How can we truly know the feeling, or taste, or sound, or anything of any given
object. If you touch something how do you know you felt it with enough force? If
you taste something how do you know you tasted enough of it? When you hear
something how do you know if you heard right?
Another thing that Bertrand Russell speaks of is illusion. An illusion is an
erroneous perception of reality. This is when the mind plays tricks. An example is
our dreams. When we awake we sometimes aren t sure if what had just happened
was a dream or in fact a real occurrence. Another example which everyone is
familiar with is an optical illusion. When you see something from a distance and its
appearance can be obscure. The closer you find yourself to the obscurity, the less
obscure it seems. If there is a something miles away from you in the distance, your
eyes tell you that there is nothing more than a mere dot. As the dot comes closer you
eventually realize that it was not a dot, but was actually something different all
together. Once again it is nearly impossible to determine the truth . All of our senses
combined must agree upon the final result.
In conclusion it is hard to determine what is real and what is not. Even when
consulting all of our senses what is real can still be questioned. How do I as my
own person know that my senses concur with someone else s senses? One s senses
are determined by the person using

virtually everyone. Chains of contempt for the world act as manacles that secure
his superior attitude and ensure he will not become what he hates. The name
Holden flawlessly portrays his inability to join society because of his high ideals
for it. Caulfield, his last name, relates to recurring theme of childhood innocence.
A caul is defined as a part of the amnion, one of the membranes enveloping the
fetus, which sometimes is around the head of a child at its birth. The caul protects
young children, just as Holden dreams to do when he tells Phoebe his ideal
profession would be the catcher in the field of rye. Of course, the second section of
his last name represents the field of rye. The few instants when Holden is
genuinely happy and unaffected by his painful awakenings to the adult world deal

How Does Huxley s Characters Reflect The Value Of Being
Human
Lauren Wadas
Ms. Petersen, AP Lit
2017
Exile in a Brave New World, As Expressed by Brave New World
Having been a somewhat of an outsider in his life, physically and mentally, Aldous
Huxley used what others thought as his oddities to create complex works. His large
stature and creative individuality is expressed in the characters of his novel, Brave
New World. In crafting such characters as Lenina, John, Linda, Bernard, and
Helmholtz, not to mention the entire world he created in the text itself, Huxley
incorporated some of his humanities into those of his characters. Contrastly, he
removed the same humanities from the society as a whole to seem perfect. This,
the essence and value of being human, is the great meaning of Brave New World.
The presence and lack of human nature in the novel exemplifies the words of
literary theorist Edward Said: Exile is strangely compelling to think about but
terrible to experience. It is the unhealable rift forced between a human being and a
native place, between the self and its true home: its essential sadness can never be
surmounted. Huxley s characters reflect the rift in their jarred reaction to new
environments and lifestyles, as well as the remnant of individuality various characters
maintain in a brave new world.
As humans, we are granted experiences that both enrich and alienate us; bits of our
lives are taken from us but others are added to make us whole. Though, sometimes,
we are taken from the bits of our lives, and have to
The And Sustainability Of The Pioneer River Catchment
1.0 Introduction
Catchments are depended on by the average household person, but even more
valuable to the farmers that are supplying the food to our nation. Therefore, action
must be taken to ensure that the catchments in our areas are healthy and will be able
to be depended on for years to come. The panel at Healthy Water Ways program has
developed a study to guarantee the management and sustainability of The Pioneer
River catchment, by sending a team out to analyze the health of the water ways and
decide on a proposal that best suits the area to ensure future healthiness of the basin.
1.1 Background

Australia and flows through the city of Mackay. This river ... Show more content on

how important the health of the river is and the cause of negative impact will incur

chosen that best suits this catchment and an outline of details will be provided.
1.3 Methodology
This report is based upon the collected data from scientific tests and different data
collection experiments, these diverse range of observations helped in determining
the health of the river and catchment as a whole. The experiments tested a range of
variables, some including; the levels of nitrates, phosphates, temperature of water,
pH levels, turbidity of water and dissolved solids. The collection of water and
recordings of microorganisms was examined and also recorded. As well as these
scientific tests, simple recordings were also taken of the surrounding area and the
amounts of rubbish and infrastructure that could be seen. The tests conducted in the
river system occurred on the 24th of May 2016, to conduct the tests the trail along
the river was walked, furthering the knowledge of the health of the river and how
the the catchment area as a whole was fairing. However, some differences to the data
could be assumed as when tested it was not always done by the same person, this
could have then limited the accuracy. Another
The And Law Enforcement Officers
Over the past couple years there has been an ever increasing amount of reports
against police using excessive force when the situation does not call for it. Every
time a case like this happens hundreds if not thousands of dollars are wasted to
correct the situation. This is due to the conflicting statements between eyewitnesses
and law enforcement officers. Forensic investigations are needed to understand what
most likely occurred. When we are little we were told to always trust policeofficers
because they are there to look out for us, but not every police officerhas that same
idea. The officers are people and people are flawed by nature but we hold them to a
higher standard and that their word is worth more than the average citizen in a
court of law. This leads to officers being considered correct until valid conflicting
evidence is introduced where the officer is shown in the wrong. Thankfully modern
advances in technology, specifically smart phones, are causing new evidence to be
provided to be in video format more often. Body cameras are one of the proposed
solutions to help solve this ongoing conflict due to their easy implementation but the
cameras have hidden costs that are not immediately thought of. Overall the cost of
using cameras is outweighed by the social benefits gained from implementing them.

The Reader Ap Language Essay
In The Reader, Bernhard Schlink uses the motif of reading throughout all three parts.
Many of the nuances that appear in the relationship between the protagonist, Michael,
and Hannah, stem from Michael reading regularly to Hannah. Schlink expressly
defines and constrains the relationship between Hannah and Michael in Part One
through the motif of reading. Specifically, he further complicates the balance of power
in the relationship, elucidates on the personal bond that the two share, and prescribes
his ideas on relationships through this motif.
Throughout the development of their relationship in Part One, Michael is
consistently submissive to Hannah. His thoughts, as well as his actions, demonstrate
him as being the more docile of the two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the underpinnings of the power dynamic in their relationship have been
addressed, the motif of reading changes the dynamic between Michael and Hannah.
Schlink uses the act of reading to depart from the dominant style relationship into
something more nuanced. Michael, by reading to Hannah, actually provides a
service that she greatly desires. She regularly pleads for Michael to read to her, as
is portrayed on page 63: Read me something from them. Please, kid? Since Hannah so
desperately desires to learn about literature and the world, she in turn hands over
power Michael; given that he is the only person that Hannah can rely on for regular
reading sessions. Consequently, he manages to retain some power although perhaps
without realizing it in the relationship.
Hannah often requests for Michael to read to her because she cannot read herself, a
fact he is unaware of until Part Two of the novel. She was never taught how to read
and her illiteracy persists up until last few chapters of the novel. In particular
situations, Hannah has been forced to lie in order to keep her illiteracy a secret.
Incidentally, one such time was immediately after she requested that Michael read to
her:
So read it to me!
Read it yourself, I ll bring it for you.
You have such a nice voice, kid, I d rather listen to you than read it myself. (42)
As a result of her illiteracy, she feels strongly about Michael s education, namely, that
he skips school to see her. To

reason why the Confederate Flag should be not banned is because it is a symbol of

supports my position because many Americans don t see the Confederate flag as

Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy
2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY
Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright
William Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked
indebtedness to the tragic writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style
from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests
Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced by, Aristotelian theories of
tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we think about
Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590
94), Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello
(1603 04), King Lear (1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07),
and Coriolanus (1608) derived from Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens,
and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First Folio. Characteristics of a
Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are from real
figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First
Folio. Exceptions from this are the Roman histories, also from historical figures:
Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, and Coriolanus. ... Show more content on

Shirley Chisholm. She was the first African Americanwomen elected to Congress
and the first to run for President of the United States. Even fewer people have heard
of Sarah Tanner Mossell Alexander, she was the first African American women to
receive her Doctorate in Philosophy.
As a lover of history, I always find joy in learning the unknown stories of my
ancestors. Stories like Alexander s showcase both remarkable achievement and
tremendous resiliency. Alexander had to triumph over racial and gender inequality,
layers of systematic oppression, and countless unknown obstacles to reach her
ambitious goal, but nonetheless, she achieved. Hearing untold stories of those who
were the first gives me motivation to do the same.
Like Alexander, Chisholm, and Robinson, I too, am the first in my family to
accomplish a large goal. While I did not make first history like my ancestors, I
conquered a tremendous personal obstacle. I became the first person in my family to
attend college. I navigated growing up in a single parent and low income household
to attend North Carolina State University. Through the help of many personal and
professional resources, I also
Weaknesses Of Literature
A bewildering number of research reports are published annually. The reports differ
with regard to quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (MГҐrtensson
et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the studies may have multiple strengths and weaknesses
depending on the research methodology they employ. Therefore, to establish a solid
foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the replication of inaccurate
information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available scientific
evidence (MГҐrtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or
claims is crucial in the development of independent thinkers and informed decision
makers. It is the only way of distinguishing among differing claims of truths and
determining the credibility or trustworthiness of different viewpoints. On that note,
this essay seeks to analyze two pieces of literature that try to answer the question as
to whether the stimulant use is related to positive academic performance among
college students. In specific, the paper will analyze the strengths and weaknesses of
the two studies and discuss the factors, which influence evidence based practice,
with a special consideration of the PICO elements. Part A Hildt, E., Lieb, K., Franke,

Carnes, Patrick. Out of the Shadows: Understanding Sexual Addiction
Minneapolis: CompCare, 1983. Patrick Carnes book offers a real life look at the
problem of sexual addiction. He used the past experiences of others to write a book
detailing the causes and effects of sexual addiction. Carnes explains how sexual
addiction is a huge problem to all involved, not just the offender . He also explains
how the addiction is a problem just like any other addictions. The book describes the
danger of addictions to humans by stating, Because our sexuality is one of our most
fundamental life processes, sexual compulsiveness is extremely threatening to all of
us (Carnes page 5). Carnes uses fictionalized ... Show more content on

Web. 5 Feb. 2014. In Othniel Seiden s article, he discusses some of the reasons for
infidelity. He lists twenty reasons that people have given as to why they have
cheated on a spouse or significant other. Seiden goes on to say that many people
have unrealistic views or expectations on a marriage and states, Romance novels,
movies, TV shows, may give couples a false sense of what marriage is all about .
(Seiden) This article also discusses the common differing reasons women and men
cheat. Seiden s article tells many reasons people would commit adultery. The
article is very informative on how marriages work and what one needs to do to
help keep their spousal relationship alive. Many people believe that affairs are
strictly physical, but affairs come in many forms. This article illustrates the
different types and what can be done to try and avoid them. It will also be used to
help interpret what one would need to do to prevent the distasteful human action of
infidelity. It will also be used to show the differences between the types of affairs.
The author s conclusions are interesting and will make valuable points in a research
paper.

Crime And Its Effect On Society Essay
Introduction
Crime prevalently commits around the globe either at the past time or even in this
present and ongoing society. Crime is not commendable to commit in any society,
however, we cannot rule out the possibility that, it is there as a complex issue and
could be explained as a part of society life. So, what crime actually is? Crime
delineates as an illegal act either against law, collective wellbeing, or even political
wellbeing (Bradley Walters, 2011). It then overall deems as a kind of harmful
behavior towards certain values or norms of the society it committed in.
Becker (from labelling theory) argued that no action in itself crime or deviant, it
depends upon who commits it, who sees it, and what action is taken about it
(Becker, 1991). So it is to underline that crime is really a social creation, and does
not have such reality of its own, historical relative and characterized by the constant
changing (Henry, 2001; Bradley Walters, 2011). This is not the conclusion, as we
continually seek to understand such claim that crime is a product of the society and
always shifting over time and place.
In this essay I will unpack three motives of why crime has been posited to be a
social construction rather a reality in itself autonomous or neutral. Three different
approaches will be proposed to justify crime as a social fabrication, which are; First
Crime is a legal based fabrication which takes a form on the doctrinal argument by

John Calvin Contribution
John Calvin was born in Noyon, France in 1509 to Jeanne Le France and GГ©rard
Calvin.
His father was the secretary to the Bishop of Noyon, which allowed John the
privilege to attend universities later in life. His mother was known for being a
beautiful religious woman, who died about four years after John was born. He had
an older brother named Charles and a younger one named Antoine. His father, a
religious man himself, brought up all three children in the church. His father
decided to remarry after his wife s death and made John live with the Montmors, a
powerful family that lived in their neighborhood. Calvin pursued studying theology,
Latin, and philosophy. He used this knowledge to train to become a priest. In the
end, he studied law at the Universities of Orleans and Bourges to become a lawyer.
His career path was altered to pursue law, because his father was paying for his
education. Calvin grew up Roman Catholic, but became a Protestant around 1534. He
escaped to France the same year due to the prosecution of Protestants who were being
persecuted for not following the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. According
to the Oxford Dictionary, a protestant is a member or follower of any of the Western
Christian Churches that are separate from the Roman Catholic Church in accordance
with the principles of the Reformation, including the Baptist, Presbyterian, and
Lutheran Churches. Calvin s major contribution to the Protestant Reformation was his

Why Schools ShouldnT Have Homework
The American School System Shouldn t Have Homework
Schools in America shouldn t have homework. It has been proven to not help with
test scores or school work, but what it does help with, is lowering students health. I
believe that schools should assign little or no homework, It does little to help and
more to hurt the students. For instance, most students don t have computers and are
financially unable to get one. This is unfair and can cause the student to be behind on
their schoolwork. Another reason is that students are so loaded with schoolwork and
other family/friend activities that they don t have enough time to do what they really
need to. Lastly, the Finnish school system has shorter school days, more recess, and
starts at the age of 7. Yet, it has been proven that they get one of the highest test
scores internationally. First, there s the case where students aren t able to afford a
computer. This causes to affect their grades, school learning experience, and their
mental health poorly. Most students have parents or guardians that constantly want
them to get good grades and when that isn t possible some students don t take it very
easily. Another thing is that it can hurt their grades because now in most schools their
system relies greatly on computers. Teachers use computers for assigning homework,
being able to research topics in class, and giving weekly assignments that are made
to be done at home also. This can make a student become behind in
Matthew s Argument For The Divinity Of Jesus
In our current day and age, removed from the accounts in the Bible, some would still
argue the divinity of Jesus. But this is not a new argument, the Disciples and even
Jesus himself faced the animosity of doubters. The Gospel of Matthew describes
some of these arguments and proves the undeniable truth that Jesusis the Son of God,
the Messiah whom the Jewish Nation waited, and the Savior of the world.
Matthew opens his argument by describing Jesus: born of a virgin in Bethlehem,
in the line of David, worshipped by Gentile Magi, brought out of Egypt, and raised
in Nazareth.1 Matthew employs this list of prophecies from Mosaic Law and
describes how Jesus fulfilled them all, simultaneously, as Blomberg s notes in his
portrait of Jesus, Matthew describes Jesus as Son of David, King, and Royal
Messiah, and Son of God. 2 Moreover, Matthew s examples of the use of these titles
throughout Matthew bear witness to Jesus divinity, as well as, how God could be
understood through Jesus.3 Matthew proves not only Jesus Messiahship but His title
of the Son of God.

  • 2. Business Collaboration, Rather Than Market Competition IS BUSINESS COLLABORATION, RATHER THAN MARKET COMPETITION, BECOME THE KEY TO SUCCESS? INTRODUCTION Today s fast growing market requires mutually beneficial partnerships to gain creativity, experience, processes, technology and resources with both right and left brain thinkers, that helps in achieving extraordinary achievements in lesser time which technically framed as collaboration. By making partnerships or collaborating externally, companies are able to innovate and get develop much more quickly and even create solutions of too many problems with an effective and efficient way. (Mudge, et.al 2014) Competition can be define as it is the rivalry among sellers who are trying to achieve same goals such as increasing profits, market share and sales volume by varying price, product, distribution and promotion (Wikipedia, 2014). In market competition, innovative business firms are ever conscious of the competitors and have a constant look on differentiating their brand and product by many different innovations and developments (Ukessays.com, 2014). With a happier working team, collaboration represents an educated one. This is because it naturally inspires a sense of community within an organization and employees feel almost like they are a part of a family. Further, it also allows employees to learn from each other (Elcomcms.com, 2014). The worldwide internet has been a fantastic enabler for greater collaborations. Social media channels allow individuals to connect, discuss,
  • 3. Rise Of Stardom Stardom can be read from another angle in the 1950s. Even while actors received much fame they were still under the control of producer and studio, who assigned actors to pictures in their range and within the range of the audience expectations (Schickel 91). This system prevailed even after the Supreme Court ruling of 1948. Actors gained so much from Hollywood but became victims of the same few died young and others had troubled private lives. Studios continued to own their actors despite the shift in filmproduction. For instance Marilyn Monroesigned a seven year contract with Fox in 1950 and those who tried to build a career outside the studio system were vulnerable like the black actress Dorothy Dandridge. She found it difficult to survive in a white dominated industry though she achieved mainstream success through musicals such as Carmen Jones (1954)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She relied on her singing talents to getby. Ava Gardner and Natalie Wood used their industry relationships to make advancements in their career (Halliwell 171). Studio lost its power and grip over the star system in the early to mid 50s and it continued well into the next decade. Stars became independent and as free lance agents thy moved from studio to studio for individual pictures and it ushered in an era of the new superstar. James Stewart became a pioneer who decided to freelance and demanded half of the profit of his movies. Other star treaded his path and demanded payment for an individual film basis and this resulted in huge star salaries and the formation of their own production companies. Directors feared that the soaring salaries would ruin the film business and by 1959 the production of films in the US dropped about 250 films a year. The theatrical going audience also dropped. More Asian and European films flooded the theatre such as Rashomon (1950), The Seven Samurai (1954), Pather Panchali (1955) and The 400 Blows (1959). These films were exhibited in art houses and

The howling tempestuous wind carries me into a clearing where a little girl, with her hair like an inferno splayed around her head like a delicate band, lies asleep in the silvery moonlight. I fly right up to her and land on her chest, where a scarlet black rose lies dead upon her breast. I wake up. I don t know where I am. My vision is blurred. I can just make out that it s dark and that I am lying on my back among the late autumn leaves. I race there, tripping and ripping my dress so just a modest amount remains, my shoes have fallen off; lost to the monster that is the forest. I amble around the boundary of the pond, looking in every nook and cranny, all I find is a dead pearl white rabbit and a few rotten bones and coins. I sit in the mauled root of the shrinking willow tree that I tripped over previously; as I sit there I feel my eyelids getting heavier and heavier. My head throbs with pain, there is no comparison possible in the world. I take the rose away from my chest: to see only one petal left. I now understand that it is my life. When it dies, I die. Obesity means that an individual has too much body weight that could possibly cause a health risk. Having a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher makes an individual morbidly obese. A healthy BMI would be from 20 to 24.9. The United States has one of the highest obesity rates in the world with an estimated of 36% of American adults suffering from it. It is important to not label obesity as a disease because it leads 78 million adults and 12 million children in America into feeling helpless, and takes them away from believing it s importance as a condition that is the result of eating too much and living sedentary lifestyles. Anna struggles with the king because their cultural beliefs are so different, but the conflict diminishes after the king finds out that Britain would like to take over Siam. He calls upon Anna to help him look less barbaric and she advises him to invite the British and show them how wrong they are by dining with them and showing a play written by Tuptim, the king s latest wife, based on Uncle Tom s Cabin. After the play Tuptim runs away with her lover, but is caught and returned to the palace where the king kills her lover and Tuptim is never seen again to Anna s dismay. She decides to leave Siam, but on the day of her departure she is informed that the king is sick; she returns to see him right before he dies and his son is made king to rule in the ways of the West. The main conflict in The King and I is a cultural dispute between Anna s western ideas and the king s traditional cultural values. From the very beginning, they establish this issue by showing Anna, Louis and the ship s captain dressed in western clothes with Anna wearing a crinoline and Louis and the ship s captain dressed in a suit being met by the Prime Minister of Bangkok who is dressed in traditional Siamese clothes. Accordingly, one of the characters, Jack, becomes obsessed with hunting, and early on we see him act similar to a dog. William Golding draws a direct comparison to Jack being dog like. Furthermore, we can see one of the other boys, Ralph, trying his best to stay civil, and do the right thing, He found himself understanding the wearisomeness of this life, where every path was an improvisation and a considerable part of one s waking life was spent watching one s feet. The inability to sleep is a source of anxiety and stress for patients in the intensive care unit (ICU); this inability can lead to cardiorespiratory disturbances, immune system dysfunction, impaired wound healing, hormonal and metabolic imbalances, cognitive changes, and delirium. Through the use of quiet times and nursing actions that encourage sleep, or, sleep hygiene bundles, nurses can assist in improving sleep quality in the ICU. These bundles include noise and light reduction, scheduling routine procedures outside of reserved sleep times, the use of earplugs and eye masks, and the grouping of nursing care activities to minimize sleep interruptions. The aim of this proposal, therefore, will be to implement a nursedriven, sleep hygiene protocol, in order to improve patient care by promoting quality sleep in ICU patients. Barriers to implementation include staff resistance to the concept, concerns regarding patient care during sleep times and difficulties in coordinating care with other units. While there are numerous view points on that which truly constitutes wit, the conceptions offered by Joseph Addison and Samuel Johnson are among the most recognized and accepted. On page 2653 of The Norton Anthology of English Literature, Addison s notions on that which he calls true wit are eloquently reasoned: In order therefore that the resemblances in the ideas be wit, it is necessary that the ideas should not lie too near one another in the nature of things; for where the likeness is obvious, it gives no surprise (Addison 2653). Where false wit deals in the mere association or comparison of one thing to another, true wit offers the reader something unusual a unique and unexpected resemblance of ideas (Addison 2654). In similar regard, Johnson s views on wit relayed in the aforementioned anthology on page 2948 express a need for more than the mundane, a contradiction to that which is commonly observed: But wit, abstracted from its effects upon he hearer, may be more rigorously and philosophically considered as a kind of discordia concors [harmonious discord]; a combination of dissimilar images, or discovery of occult resemblances in things apparently unlike (Johnson 2948). Though Joseph Addison s and Samuel Johnson s notions of true and intellectual wit are discernable within a number of eighteenth century works, these ideals are

Their memories are not as good, and their information processing speed is significantly lower. There have been many studies performed that compare the cognitive performance of preterm infants with full term infants. One study in particular, performed by Susan A. Rose and Judith F. Pros And Cons Of Lower The Legal Drinking Age Following in the Path of Other Countries: Why the U.S. Should Lower the Legal Drinking Age Since 1984, the United States legal drinking age has been twenty one, as stated in the National Minimum Drinking Age Act (NMDAA). Before this, age restrictions varied from state to state, ranging from eighteen to twenty one. The age restriction was set at twenty one when an increase in alcohol related car accidents came about, and the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) insisted on a change (Minimum Drinking Age). This change was made solely on car accidents due to eighteen to twenty year olds under the influence. When we reach the age of eighteen, we are automatically allowed to vote, serve in the military, serve on juries, and in some states: gamble, consent to sexual acts legally, and purchase handguns (Carpenter and Dobkin). At fifteen years, most states allow us to operate a vehicle with a guardian, later driving by ourselves at sixteen. An illusion is an erroneous perception of reality. This is when the mind plays tricks. An example is our dreams. Human beings are advised not to judge books by their covers, rather that they should look further than the obvious and try to apprehend the implied meaning. Chains of contempt for the world act as manacles that secure his superior attitude and ensure he will not become what he hates. The name Holden flawlessly portrays his inability to join society because of his high ideals for it. Caulfield, his last name, relates to recurring theme of childhood innocence. A caul is defined as a part of the amnion, one of the membranes enveloping the fetus, which sometimes is around the head of a child at its birth. The caul protects young children, just as Holden dreams to do when he tells Phoebe his ideal profession would be the catcher in the field of rye. Of course, the second section of his last name represents the field of rye. The few instants when Holden is genuinely happy and unaffected by his painful awakenings to the adult world deal with children, because he feels they are uncorrupted. Walking down the street in New York, Holden s rusted manacles of almost perpetual depression are unlocked when he sees a little boy singing if a body catch a body coming through the rye. He criticizes his father, saying he wanted to appear sharp with the ratty hat he was wearing, and says neither parent was paying any attention to their son. He feels any adult has been demoralized, but will go to great lengths to come into any contact with a child. His perfect job, the

  • 28. How Does Huxley s Characters Reflect The Value Of Being Human Lauren Wadas Ms. Petersen, AP Lit 2017 Exile in a Brave New World, As Expressed by Brave New World Having been a somewhat of an outsider in his life, physically and mentally, Aldous Huxley used what others thought as his oddities to create complex works. His large stature and creative individuality is expressed in the characters of his novel, Brave New World. In crafting such characters as Lenina, John, Linda, Bernard, and Helmholtz, not to mention the entire world he created in the text itself, Huxley incorporated some of his humanities into those of his characters. Contrastly, he removed the same humanities from the society as a whole to seem perfect. This, the essence and value of being human, is the great meaning of Brave New World. The presence and lack of human nature in the novel exemplifies the words of literary theorist Edward Said: Exile is strangely compelling to think about but terrible to experience. It is the unhealable rift forced between a human being and a native place, between the self and its true home: its essential sadness can never be surmounted. Huxley s characters reflect the rift in their jarred reaction to new environments and lifestyles, as well as the remnant of individuality various characters maintain in a brave new world. As humans, we are granted experiences that both enrich and alienate us; bits of our lives are taken from us but others are added to make us whole. Though, sometimes, we are taken from the bits of our lives, and have to

The experiments tested a range of variables, some including; the levels of nitrates, phosphates, temperature of water, pH levels, turbidity of water and dissolved solids. The collection of water and recordings of microorganisms was examined and also recorded. As well as these scientific tests, simple recordings were also taken of the surrounding area and the amounts of rubbish and infrastructure that could be seen. The tests conducted in the river system occurred on the 24th of May 2016, to conduct the tests the trail along the river was walked, furthering the knowledge of the health of the river and how the the catchment area as a whole was fairing. Every time a case like this happens hundreds if not thousands of dollars are wasted to correct the situation. This is due to the conflicting statements between eyewitnesses and law enforcement officers. Forensic investigations are needed to understand what most likely occurred. When we are little we were told to always trust policeofficers because they are there to look out for us, but not every police officerhas that same idea. The officers are people and people are flawed by nature but we hold them to a higher standard and that their word is worth more than the average citizen in a court of law. This leads to officers being considered correct until valid conflicting evidence is introduced where the officer is shown in the wrong. Thankfully modern advances in technology, specifically smart phones, are causing new evidence to be provided to be in video format more often. Body cameras are one of the proposed solutions to help solve this ongoing conflict due to their easy implementation but the cameras have hidden costs that are not immediately thought of. Overall the cost of using cameras is outweighed by the social benefits gained from implementing them. Many of the nuances that appear in the relationship between the protagonist, Michael, and Hannah, stem from Michael reading regularly to Hannah. Schlink expressly defines and constrains the relationship between Hannah and Michael in Part One through the motif of reading. Specifically, he further complicates the balance of power in the relationship, elucidates on the personal bond that the two share, and prescribes his ideas on relationships through this motif. Throughout the development of their relationship in Part One, Michael is consistently submissive to Hannah. His thoughts, as well as his actions, demonstrate him as being the more docile of the two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the underpinnings of the power dynamic in their relationship have been addressed, the motif of reading changes the dynamic between Michael and Hannah. Schlink uses the act of reading to depart from the dominant style relationship into something more nuanced. Michael, by reading to Hannah, actually provides a service that she greatly desires. She regularly pleads for Michael to read to her, as is portrayed on page 63: Read me something from them. Please, kid? Since Hannah so desperately desires to learn about literature and the world, she in turn hands over power Michael; given that he is the only person that Hannah can rely on for regular reading sessions. Consequently, he manages to retain some power although perhaps without realizing it in the relationship. Hannah often requests for Michael to read to her because she cannot read herself, a fact he is unaware of until Part Two of the novel. She was never taught how to read and her illiteracy persists up until last few chapters of the novel. In particular situations, Hannah has been forced to lie in order to keep her illiteracy a secret. Incidentally, one such time was immediately after she requested that Michael read to her: So read it to me! Read it yourself, I ll bring it for you. You have such a nice voice, kid, I d rather listen to you than read it myself. • 35. Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy 2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright William Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked indebtedness to the tragic writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced by, Aristotelian theories of tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we think about Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590 94), Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello (1603 04), King Lear (1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07), and Coriolanus (1608) derived from Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens, and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First Folio. Characteristics of a Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are from real figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First Folio. The reports differ with regard to quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (MГҐrtensson et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the studies may have multiple strengths and weaknesses depending on the research methodology they employ. Therefore, to establish a solid foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the replication of inaccurate information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available scientific evidence (MГҐrtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or claims is crucial in the development of independent thinkers and informed decision makers. • 42. Crime And Its Effect On Society Essay Introduction Crime prevalently commits around the globe either at the past time or even in this present and ongoing society. Crime is not commendable to commit in any society, however, we cannot rule out the possibility that, it is there as a complex issue and could be explained as a part of society life. So, what crime actually is? Crime delineates as an illegal act either against law, collective wellbeing, or even political wellbeing (Bradley Walters, 2011). It then overall deems as a kind of harmful behavior towards certain values or norms of the society it committed in. Becker (from labelling theory) argued that no action in itself crime or deviant, it depends upon who commits it, who sees it, and what action is taken about it (Becker, 1991). So it is to underline that crime is really a social creation, and does not have such reality of its own, historical relative and characterized by the constant changing (Henry, 2001; Bradley Walters, 2011). This is not the conclusion, as we continually seek to understand such claim that crime is a product of the society and always shifting over time and place. In this essay I will unpack three motives of why crime has been posited to be a social construction rather a reality in itself autonomous or neutral. Three different approaches will be proposed to justify crime as a social fabrication, which are; First Crime is a legal based fabrication which takes a form on the doctrinal argument by judges and bring existence to such

His father, a religious man himself, brought up all three children in the church. His father decided to remarry after his wife s death and made John live with the Montmors, a powerful family that lived in their neighborhood. Calvin pursued studying theology, Latin, and philosophy. It has been proven to not help with test scores or school work, but what it does help with, is lowering students health. I believe that schools should assign little or no homework, It does little to help and more to hurt the students. For instance, most students don t have computers and are financially unable to get one. This is unfair and can cause the student to be behind on their schoolwork. Another reason is that students are so loaded with schoolwork and other family/friend activities that they don t have enough time to do what they really need to. Lastly, the Finnish school system has shorter school days, more recess, and starts at the age of 7. Yet, it has been proven that they get one of the highest test scores internationally. First, there s the case where students aren t able to afford a computer. This causes to affect their grades, school learning experience, and their mental health poorly. Most students have parents or guardians that constantly want them to get good grades and when that isn t possible some students don t take it very easily. Teachers use computers for assigning homework, being able to research topics in class, and giving weekly assignments that are made to be done at home also. This can make a student become behind in

But this is not a new argument, the Disciples and even Jesus himself faced the animosity of doubters. The Gospel of Matthew describes some of these arguments and proves the undeniable truth that Jesusis the Son of God, the Messiah whom the Jewish Nation waited, and the Savior of the world. Matthew opens his argument by describing Jesus: born of a virgin in Bethlehem, in the line of David, worshipped by Gentile Magi, brought out of Egypt, and raised in Nazareth.1 Matthew employs this list of prophecies from Mosaic Law and describes how Jesus fulfilled them all, simultaneously, as Blomberg s notes in his portrait of Jesus, Matthew describes Jesus as Son of David, King, and Royal Messiah, and Son of God. 2 Moreover, Matthew s examples of the use of these titles throughout Matthew bear witness to Jesus divinity, as well as, how God could be understood through Jesus.3 Matthew proves not only Jesus Messiahship but His title of the Son of God.
