- Team building
- Agile retrospectives
Activity
• Brief in – 5 minutes
• Post-it notes & sharpies
• One idea per note
• 2-3 minute cycles
• Trust your instincts
• More notes is best
• Part 1 - 25 minutes
• Round 1: What are we passionate about?
• 3 minutes writing ideas
• Post to circle on whiteboard/butchers paper
• 2-3 minute call out of key items
• Round 2: What do our customers value?
• 3 minutes writing ideas
• Post to circle on whiteboard/butchers paper
• 2-3 minute call out of key items
• Round 3: What are we great at?
• 3 minutes writing ideas
• Post to circle on whiteboard/butchers paper
• 2-3 minute call out of key items
• Part 2 – 25 minutes
• Sort items into each section, including the overlaps
– 5 minutes
• Focus on heart zone -what does this mean for the
team -discuss 10 minutes
• Walk through each of the 2 circle overlap sections –
what should we do about these things? – 10
minutes
• Show table on last page
• Perhaps break this up into sub-group activities for 2-
3 people
• Brief out – 5 minutes
• Does this resonate?
• What next?

  • 2. 2 We are passionate about these things We are great at these things Our customers value these things This workshop model Is from the book Good to Great By Jim Collins The workshop is presented as a 60 minute Workshop activity that can be used in a range of ways including; - Strategy finding - Team building - Agile retrospectives

Activity • Brief in – 5 minutes • Post-it notes & sharpies • One idea per note • 2-3 minute cycles • Trust your instincts • More notes is best • Part 1 - 25 minutes • Round 1: What are we passionate about? • 3 minutes writing ideas • Post to circle on whiteboard/butchers paper • 2-3 minute call out of key items • Round 2: What do our customers value? • 3 minutes writing ideas • Post to circle on whiteboard/butchers paper • 2-3 minute call out of key items • Round 3: What are we great at? • 3 minutes writing ideas • Post to circle on whiteboard/butchers paper • 2-3 minute call out of key items • Part 2 – 25 minutes • Sort items into each section, including the overlaps – 5 minutes • Focus on heart zone -what does this mean for the team -discuss 10 minutes • Walk through each of the 2 circle overlap sections – what should we do about these things? – 10 minutes • Show table on last page • Perhaps break this up into sub-group activities for 2- 3 people • Brief out – 5 minutes • Does this resonate? • What next? 3
