Good Example Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Good Example Essays" presents its own set of challenges.
Firstly, defining what makes an essay exemplary can be subjective, as it depends on individual
preferences and the specific criteria set forth by the assignment. Moreover, attempting to write
an essay about good examples necessitates a thorough understanding of various writing styles,
structures, and rhetorical devices.
One must delve into the intricacies of effective communication, dissecting well-crafted essays to
discern the elements that elevate them. This process involves analyzing not only the content but
also the seamless integration of ideas, coherence in argumentation, and the finesse in language
use. Aspiring to produce a comprehensive essay on this topic requires a keen eye for detail and
the ability to articulate thoughts clearly.
Research is another vital aspect, involving the exploration of diverse examples across genres and
subjects. Unearthing essays that have stood the test of time or gained acclaim requires time and
effort. Compiling a variety of examples to illustrate different facets of excellence adds depth to
the essay but demands extensive reading and critical evaluation.
The challenge intensifies when attempting to strike a balance between theoretical insights and
practical examples. Finding the right blend ensures that the essay is not just a theoretical
discourse but also a practical guide for aspiring writers. Transitioning seamlessly between
analyzing overarching principles and showcasing specific instances demands a nuanced approach
to writing.
Moreover, expressing personal perspectives without overshadowing the objective analysis can be
delicate. Balancing subjective opinions while maintaining an informative tone requires a writer to
navigate the fine line between critical evaluation and personal bias.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Good Example Essays" involves grappling with subjectivity,
extensive research, and the delicate art of balancing theoretical insights with practical examples.
The endeavor demands not just a command over language but also a deep appreciation for the
nuances of effective writing. It is a task that challenges a writer to go beyond the surface,
scrutinize various genres, and distill the essence of what makes an essay exemplary.

Sweat By Hurston Analysis
Hurston found herself heavily ridiculed for her methods of writing Sweat because
people claimed that she was writing in a way that brought African Americans down to
fit into standard racial stereotypes instead of bringing them up to be equals with
whites. In reality, Sweat conveys the true lives of many African Americanwomen of
the 1900 s but this is more of a feminist story than a racial story through the
empowerment of Delia by having a strong economic power over Sykes. She built
her home for her old days and she poured her sweat and work into it. Even the
people in the town recognized that she was a hard worker and deserved more than
what Sykes was giving her. The town folks reveal that she used to be a beautiful

Color Purple Reports
The Color Purple Book Report
The Color Purple explores and introduces many themes including, the ability to
express your thoughts through writing and letters, female relationships, sexism,
racism and gender roles that occurred during the early 1900 s in the South. The
author of the novel Alice Walker, uses the characters of the novel to help the main
character Celie find herself as a woman and stand up to the men in her life that take
advantage of her. The Color Purple is an epistolary and fiction novel made up of
Celie s, the protagonists, letters to God where she talks about the struggles of being
an African American woman subjected to the cruel prejudices in the South. The

Celie has been through the abuse her father caused and her husband. She has raped
constantly by her father, who raped her to fulfil the sexual needs that his wife
couldn t give him because she was terribly sick. She goes through it to protect her
younger sister Nettie, who she didn t want anything to happen to. In Celie s adult
life, she meets Shug Avery and Sophia who help her find her voice. They serve as
a good example for Celie because they embody everything she lacks. Celie s first
breakthrough of wanting to break her silence with her husband is when she finds
out he was been hiding the letters her sister Nettie had beens sending her. In the
letters Nettie sent Celie, she explains that Celie s husband told Nettie she would
never see or hear from Celie again because she fought back when he tried to rape
her. Celie s husband initially wanted to marry Nettie so he had always had a
fantasy of being with Nettie. Celie had figured her sister was killed because she
hadn t heard from her in several years. Shug and Celie found all of Nettie s letters
in her husband s locked trunk. Celie was so enraged with anger she considered
killing her husband but Shug tried to calm her down by telling her when he was a
much better and happier man. Shug s stories don t help and Celie remains angry and
unafraid of her husband. In Nettie s letters, she tells Celie that her children

The Pizza Industry
The presence of giant pizza companies from its origin, Italy, and from its Western
counterpart, the US, in almost every corner of the metro is enough to reveal the
Filipinos love for pizza. Next to fast food chains selling burgers, the most patronized
parlors are those engaged in pizzas and it makes a potential high income business.
Pizza industry in the country is dominated by Pizza Hut, Shakey s and Greenwich.
Having a strong brand equity in the pizza industry allows a company to gain a
significant advantage in the market. Customers in the pizza industry place a high
value on the product quality and price of a company. Maintaining a good reputation
is very important in this industry for companies because customers will build a
relationship with the company and will keep on coming back or ordering from that
company if they feel like they are getting a good deal.
Over the past several years, pizza chains have begun to extend their menus to other
items like chicken, salads, pizza dough, and cheesy bread stick. Not many of them are
still kept on the menu though. It could be described as once a chain launches a new
menu, the other competitors would imitate the new item or launch a
Explain The Key Issues In Law Enforcement
There are many key issues that have to be considered by law enforcement agencies
when building relationships with the communities they serve. First and for most they
have to adequately and fairly address complaints made by members of the
community. The police have to provide the same service to minority communities as
they would provide a predominately white community. The effect of providing good
service could mean that the community will slowly build their trust with police
officers. In the long run this will reduce tensions and build trust between the two
groups. By building trust the policeknow they can count on the community when it
comes to crime prevention. Reducing the publics fear of crime translates to increased
cooperation between
Different Methods Of Communicating Between Cells And
Humans
As multicellular organisms became more complex they required a method of
communication between cells. Over time several methods of cell cell communication
developed. There are two main methods of communicating between cells in humans.
One is a humoral method that usually involves hormones or other ligands
(molecules that bind to larger molecules) that are released into the blood stream and
then cause a response in the target cell. The other method is by using nerve cells an
electrical signal is transferred across a large distance and will then result in a response.
Hormones are proteins whose structure is shaped in order to interact with a cells
surface membrane. They are specific to cell surface receptors and will only trigger a
change in cell that has a particular receptor. Because of this the body can
communicate with certain types of call selectively as it can produce a hormone
specific to the receptors on that cell group. This is an advantage to a human as it is a
complex organism and as a result many types of cell that require coordinating in
different ways. Therefore having different hormones for different signals helps to
avoid disorientation of the cells making the organism more efficient.
Hormones are usually produced in a specific type of cell or gland. For example the
hormone insulin is only produced in Beta cells of the islets of Langerhans in the
pancreas, the hormone travels into the blood stream through the capillary network
where it s distributed across the

John Updike s A P, Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost a Man, and James
Joyce s Araby
Stories about youth and the transition from that stage of life into adulthood form a
very solidly populated segment of literature. In three such stories, John Updike s A P,
Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost a Man, and James Joyces Araby , young
men face their transitions into adulthood. Each of these boys faces a different
element of youth that requires a fundamental shift in their attitudes. Sammy, in A P ,
must make a moral decision about his associations with adult institutions that mistreat
others. Dave, in The Man Who Was Almost a Man, struggles with the idea that what
defines a man is physical power. The narrator of ... Show more content on

Sammy, however, surprises us, just like the story does. His immediate infatuation
with the girls and everything they represented (the youth he was quickly denying
himself by being tied at such a young age to the very adult world of work) quickly
brought him to realize that his life was still that of a young person. What he thinks
is an act of bravery, which will certainly be awarded with the attentions of Queenie ,
turns out to be a solo act of personal assertion. Just when Sammie thinks his life is
ending, it is truly just beginning.
Richard Wright s story, The Man Who Was Almost a Man , is also a story of a
youthful ignorance of the actual complexities of the world. To Dave, the main
character of the story, getting a gun will make all the difference in his becoming a
man, musing Shucks, a man oughta hava little gun aftah he done worked hard all
day.... (923) Just as the youth of the girls in A P, are the central symbol of that story,
the gun is the central literary symbol of Wright s. With a gun in his hand, Dave is
convinced that his fears will disappear, that he will become powerful and honored.
Just as Updike demonstrates with Sammy, Wright shows us that Dave is both naГЇve
and misguided. From the first, Dave demonstrates his childishness in his very
strategy to get the gun. He speculates, sounding quite immature, that his mother will
give him a gun. He is subsequently childish in his handling, or mishandling, of the old
revolver. As he
Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Vehicle Breathalyzers
Mandatory vehicle breathalyzers What if a person s car would not start if there
was alcohol detected in the bloodstream anytime they tried to drive? Vehicle
breathalyzers make this a reality. Ignition interlocks installed in cars measure
alcohol on the driver s breath. Interlocks keep the car from starting if the driver has
a BAC above a certain level, usually 0.02%. They re used for people convicted of
drunk driving and are highly effective at preventing repeat offenses while installed.
Mandating interlocks for all offenders, including first time offenders, will have the
greatest impact. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 1) Driving is a
privilege, not a right. A drunk drivers car becomes a weapon. All vehicles should be
equipped with a Breathalyzer in order to increase public safety by preventing drunk

DUI deaths remain at 30% despite a overall drop in crashes (CDC 1). Not only are
people killed and injured but the cost economic is high. DUI crashes are also a
significant economic burden to communities, with societal costs estimated to be

($277 billion) associated with MVC related injury . (Bingham, et al. 1034). The

The Media as Conduit for Political Propaganda Essay
The Media as Conduit for Political Propaganda
According to the latest polls, 90% of Americans favor military retaliation for the
September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Taking into consideration that all
aggregate data is used for self serving means, this number is still exceptionally large.
The numbers are manufactured by propaganda vehicles, or rather the mainstream
media. In a sort of Orwellian fashion, the media bombards the audience with images,
voices, and memoirs of death, grief, and pain that pervert their way into public
consciousness, creating a sort of group think. In the essay Propaganda, American
style, Noam Chomsky writes:
In totalitarian societies, propaganda doesn t really try to control your thoughts. ...

Such is the nature of the democratic beast. This concept of manufactured consent , a
term coined by American journalist Walter Lippman, should come as no surprise
considering that the media is a vehicle and a product of capitalism. The metaphor of
money equals power has a large stake in the operations of the media. The news
stations, newspapers, and radio stations are all controlled by a powerful elite; yet, the
media themselves are huge profit seeking corporations. They are integrated into the
market, and are thus subject to criticism and control by their stockholders. The
stockholders want the bottom line, or in other words, what they want to hear. Money
and power are the means through which the news is filtered, dissent is squelched, and
political agenda is satisfied.
In Noam Chomsky s work Manufacturing Consent, the relationship between
objectivity and the media is explained.
The elite domination of the media and marginalization of dissidents that results from
the operation of these filters occurs so naturally that media news people, frequently
operating with complete integrity and goodwill, are able to convince themselves that
they choose and interpret the news objectively and on the basis of professional news
values.
This concept of objectivity is unable to exist in a nation so reliant on systematic bias.
The symbiotic relationship between the media and the powerful elite makes it
difficult for a reporter to cut of ties with those who

Patwin Indians History
More than four thousand years ago, the Patwin Indians were the first tenants of the
region now known as the City of West Sacramento. These Native Americans set up
towns on the west bank of the Sacramento River and their individuals regularly
numbered in the hundreds. The Patwin Indians exploited the copious characteristic
assets offered by the area and water encompassed them. They chased and angled; they
additionally created wicker container, angling nets, watercrafts, pontoons from
willows, intense grasses, and vines. The majority of their needs were given by their
surroundings. The quiet way of life the Patwin Indians changed significantly with the

Anglers saw the productive potential in salmon, sturgeon, catfish, eel, crawfish, and
shellfishes. The stream group was flourishing, supplying fish market in
Sacramento, as well as in San Francisco too. Furthermore, the rich soil of the valley
delivered copious yields of com, melons, cucumbers, and sweet potatoes. The dairy
business likewise settled roots in West Sacramento around this time. One of the
region s most surely understood dairy agriculture was Mike Bryte. Bryte came to
California in 1849 to attempt his hand at gold mining. In spite of the fact that he
didn t make a good fortune in gold, he purchased a dairy ranch in 1853 which was
extremely effective. At the point when the California Steam Navigation Company
came to Washington, Bryte utilized the steamships to convert his dairy items to
territorial markets. Benefits from this permitted Bryte to extend his possessions.
By 1879, he possessed 1,500 sections of land of area. raised 150 bovines and 100

This is a world of advertising. The commercials that one sees on T.V. are made to
grab their attention and sale them information on a product or service. T.V.
commercials have a broad reach. Most commercials can reach seventy percent of
the national population in a day. This means most people watching T.V. will see ads
about food, toys and even water. and they will immediately want the product they
see on T.V. In the case of Evian Mineral Waters commercial Spiderman: The
Amazing Baby Me, the company is targeting younger viewers and others who are
interested in Spiderman. The ad shows viewers Spiderman seeing him younger self in

The character seeing his younger self points to the water having rejuvenating
properties, and if they can get people to view it, they will see a flash of the
companies product, enticing them to go buy the product and live younger. I believe
this ad to be an accurate portrayal of the companies product.. Evian Mineral Waters is

lessons to others. It has gods and goddesses who have power to do things and is really
interesting to learn about. Egyptian mythology supports the universal human
experience. In their myths, Egyptians value security, power, and benevolence. In the

The Blind Man InCathedral, By Raymond Carver
In the story, Cathedral written by Raymond Carver, a wife, a husband, and a blind
man, known as Robert, come together and interact with each other. The narrator was
disturbed with the thought of having Robert in his home, especially since he is a
stranger to the narrator. The narrator believes in the falsifications of blind people
from the movies and therefore, judges the blind man (1) prior to his arrival. His
judgment shows that he thinks of Robert on a highly shallow level, which
demonstrates, similar to all his other negative characteristics, that he doesn t
experience the depth of reality. When Robert actually arrives, the narratorfeels
awkward and hardly speaks with him, as he doesn t know what to have a
conversation about. When he does speak up, however, he asks questions and
discusses statements that one would have the decency not to discuss with the
disabled. The narrators personality consists of ignorance and immaturity that portrays
his lack of empathy as he suggests activities like going bowling (3). In a sense, the
husbandhas his own emotional, social and intellectual blindnessthat he is unaware of.
He is socially oblivious of what Robert experiences with his physical abnormality,
and how the intimacy between him and his wife decreases. Nevertheless, as the
protagonist lacks dimension and the depth of reality, he achieves his epiphany after a
series of perceptual blows that clobber him to his preconceived notions, which allows

This article addresses the question whether, in light of the potential implications for
energy markets, the proposed changes to п¬Ѓnancial legislation will have the effects
the European Commission desires. L. Nijman / Energy Policy 47 (2012) 468 477
469 This question derives its relevance from three aspects. First, the academic
literature has generally focussed on the appropriate regulatory design for specific
markets, for instance in relation to the liberalization of European energy markets or
the stability of п¬Ѓnancial markets. As also noted by Diaz Rainey et al. (2011), little
research has been done regarding cross market effects of п¬Ѓnancial regulation on
energy markets. Now that the line between the traditional п¬Ѓnancial and energy
markets has become blurred, the link between the two deserves more attention.
Second, it may prove useful not just to point out which aspects of energy trading may
come under п¬Ѓnancial regulation, but to take the analysis one step further and
examine how participants in the energy markets are likely to react to the incentives
this new legislation offers them. The success of regulation hinges on how market
participants adapt their behaviour to it, not just the substance of the legislation itself.
Third, to the extent that these proposals are motivated by electoral calls for a strong
response to п¬Ѓnancial instability and

The Temptations Social Influence On Pop Culture
The Tempting Temptations With classy dance moves, creative costumes, and smooth
vocals, the Temptations were a popular music group during the 1960s. The small
group from Detroit had a huge impact on modern society from addressing social
issues such as racial injustice, to revolutionizing rhythm and blues music. As a group
of five young men, the Temptationsbegan their careers in Motown music where they
became an influential quintet that changed the music and culture of the 1960s.
Members of the Temptations

Also in regards to wisdom, the Greek word tem is used as inner man, mind, will
heart, and understanding (blueletterbible.org). In scripture, tem is used by addressing
the skilled tabernacle workmen in Exodus 35:10, And every wise hearted among you
shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded, (NASB).
New Testament Usage of Wisdom In the New Testament, words like wisdom and
wisely are translated from the Greek word phronimos (blueletterbible.org). It is
translated to mean prudent, sensible, and wise (Vine, 2006). In Luke 1:17,
phronimos is used when the angel says And he shall go before him in the spirit
and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the
disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the
Lord, (NKJ). Throughout the New Testament, it appears that wisdom is mostly
referred to as something gained through life experiences or experiences from God. It
seems to also be implied that wisdom is the best in old age.

Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory
Self belief does not necessarily ensure success, but self disbelief assuredly spawns
failure (Bandura, 1997). Albert Bandura was affectionately described as the jovial
genius by one of his former students for his wisdom, humility, and wonderful sense of
humor. Albert Bandura believed that social learningformed the basis for personality
development (Bandura, 1977). Bandura s theory is perceived to be an internal
reward , such examples include pride, satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment
(Social Learning Theory: Understanding Bandura s Theory of Learning, n.d.). It is
evident that internal thoughts and cognitions help connect learning theories with
cognitive developmental theories. Bandura suggested that his concept surrounding
the social learning theory could be considered a social cognitive theory (Social
Learning Theory: Understanding Bandura s Theory of Learning, n.d.).
Albert Bandura once said that, learning would be exceedingly laborious, not to
mention hazardous, if people had to rely solely on the effects of their own actions to
inform them what to do (Bandura, 1977). His theory integrates a continuous
interaction between the environment, our own behaviors, and our psychological
processes.
To understand observational learning, Bandura and his colleagues researched
observational learning. This provided considerable guidance for teachers who are
interested in instructional modeling and teaching by demonstration. Note that the

The Importance Of Dehumanization In Night By Elie Wiesel
The memoir named Night by Elie Wiesel shows how The Jews in the concentration
camps would be treated so horribly, that they had to lose their minds, there was no
alternative. All it would take was a little time at their personally created hell and
eventually they would fall apart. As time goes on they seem to shatter, be it the death
of a loved one in front of them or the beating of them everyday. The story in whole
being about how Wiesel was moved to a concentration camps and all the horrors
inside them, and how they changed his views of life at the time.
The very first example of this dehumanization from the get go would be how they
were moved into the ghettos. Just that first act started the long chain of events
leading to their doom. It made them caged, as an animal is. The ghetto was ruled by
neither German nor Jew; it was ruled by delusion (Wiesel 12). They tricked
themselves into thinking they were free. Which obviously was not the case. A sunny
spring day, people strolled seemingly carefree through the crowded streets. They
exchanged cheerful greetings. Children played games, rolling hazelnuts on the
sidewalks (Wiesel 12). They begun to feel normal and safe again, while they should
have had more concerns.
The ghetto was to be liquidated entirely. Departures were to take place street by
street, starting the next day (Wiesel 13). Days later after they felt safe again, they
would be taken to the camps, to be worked to death. They were dehumanized from
that

The Plane On A Plane
I almost died on a plane and now they want me to get back on one? I didn t think I
d have to get back on a plane, I just wanted to be saved. I can t get on that plane,
they can bring me home on a boat or something! I thought to myself. The pilot kept
asking us what happened, how we got here, and if everyone was alright. Mr Spinks
said, Well our planecrashed and I think I am okay. I have a few bumps and bruises.
Jena then interrupted him and said, Everyone is, for the most part, okay. Our
friend Hector died of infection and we buried him. Our plane crashed on the way
to London for a class trip. We have been here for like a month, we don t know...we
need to get home! The pilot had been very patient and said, If your friend Hector
died of infection and was buried, then it is protocall to leave him here. Where are
you guys from? Mr. Spinks and Jena had both at the same time said, We are from
Demotte. We flew out of the O Hare Airport in Chicago. Mr. Spinks had said
having to have the last word in. You guys need to just all get on the plane, find a
seat wherever you can. I will take you back to the O Hare Airport, where there will
be medical staff and your parents will meet you there. I am guessing they don t
know you re alive, The pilot had said patiently. I physically can not bring myself to
talk, much less get back on this plane. I thoughtto myself as the pilot was blabbering
on to us. All I was thinking as he was talking was that if I get on another
Shinto Vs Buddhism Essay
Temple and shrine are both used interchangeably because many visitors to Japan can
t tell the difference. To point out, using these terms interchangeably is like saying a
church and synagogue are equivalent. In Japan, there are two major religions
practiced by the Japanese people. A shrine is where Shintois practiced and Buddhism
is practiced at a temple.
Both Shinto and Buddhism date back to thousands of years. Shinto, a spiritual
principle, is an ancient religion of Japan based on the belief that powerful deities
called kami (gods) inhabit both heaven and earth. According to mythology, various
kanami were worshipped by their own individual clans. They often built shrines
dedicated to their chosen kami and utilized a shaman or diviner to ... Show more

It gained wide acceptance in the following century when the nobility advocated it.
BukkyЕЌ, a combination of two words, is the Japanese word for Buddhism. Butsu
translates to Buddha and kyЕЌ means doctrine.
In Japan, most people practice both faiths ambiguously as they are nearly parallel to
one another. Shinto primarily focuses on earthly matters, and shrines are often used
to host weddings or pray for good fortune. Whereas Buddhism is considered the
religion of spiritual beliefs and practices. Temples usually host funerals and are a
place to pray for ancestors.
You are probably at a Shinto shrine if you cross the threshold of a torii gate, see a
pair of guardians (usually dogs or lions) sitting on each side of the entrance, and
cleanse your mouth and hands at a purification fountain before prayer. Shinto shrines
have the suffix jingu , such as Ise Jingu.
The name of Buddhist temples use the suffix ji , such as Todaiji. You may find
yourself at a Japanese temple if you see an image of the Buddha, as this is always
housed at a Buddhist temple. A large incense burner is usually located at the front of
the temple; it is believed that the smoke has healing properties. On top of that, there
is often a pagoda at a Buddhist
Analysis Of The Tragic Autobiography, By Carmen Bin

In her didactic autobiography, Carmen bin Laden, sister in law of Osama bin
Laden, construes her past life in Saudi Arabia as to be confined in the prison of her
name and educates people on the Muslim religion, its extremists, and its
constrictions on Muslim women. Additionally, she instructs us as Americans to
avoid the fundamentalists and to practice our freedoms so we don t fall into the
same dilemma she did. In her opening paragraphs, she brings up the 9/11 attacks
and how she and her family live with a daily reminder of that day. She tells her fears
of her children not being able to pursue their dreams and goals because of the family
they were born into and the last name they share with an America s Most Wanted

Momentum After Collision
The total momentum and total kinetic energy before and after do not match up
because the final momentum and kinetic energy is smaller in the straight on collision
and larger in the nearly straight on and glancing blow. For kinetic energy to be lost
like in the straight on collision means that the kinetic energywas transformed into
another type of energy like sound because in real life when the balls collide, a sound
can be heard during the collision. However for kinetic energyto be gained does not
make sense, meaning something was wrong with the apparatus or calculations. Part
of the results do reflect the theory since for the straight on collision, the most of the
velocity from the blue ball is transferred to the red ball. And in the nearly straight
collision and glancing blow both balls have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Firstly, in order for this to match up the final velocities of the red and blue ball
should equate to the initial velocities of the red and blue ball. However in both
nearly straight and glancing, the velocities add up to 0.067m/s when it should only
add up to 0.051m/s. This means there was a human error in finding the displacement
/time. This could be due to wrong x and y measurements, or wrong math calculations.
The computer system is not 100 percent accurate because the velocity of the ball
should be constant for each trial. During the straight on collision at two seconds the
displacement is ten centimeters which would make velocity 5m/s. However during
the nearly straight and glancing blow, the displacement at two seconds is measured
exactly 10.2 making the velocity of the ball 5.1 m/s. In this situation only the Flash
animation programmer can fix the problem to sure the velocity is the exact same. In

The Magic Treehouse Series By Mary Pope Osborne
She walked into the classroom; eyes sparkling with excitement. The teacher
arranged everyone into a single file line to walk down the hall. She could not
contain her excitement as the line moved forward, then around a corner, and ended
up at her favorite place: the library. She searched through the shelves and looked in a
couple bins, but nothing seemed to catch her eye. Ten minutes went by and she was
still looking, hoping she would find that connection. Finally, she was scavenging
through a basket and found a short chapter book by Mary Pope Osborne. The title was
Dinosaurs Before Dark; the first book of the Magic Treehouse series. She ran
straight home to show her mother as she did every week.
Something about fiction made her feel free as if anything was possible. There were no
limitations to the story. She took her new book and headed straight for her room.
She sat in her green bean bag chair, cracked open the first page, and began to read.
This book was like nothing she had read before. Her love of dinosaurs and magic
made it easy for her to get sucked into to this parallel world. When it was time for
bed, she would pretend to put the book away until her mother kissed her good night
and shut the door; then she would open the book, and continue reading into the late
hours of the night. She was fascinated by the way the words danced across the page
in perfect unison. Every sentence flowed with such ease that it seemed effortless. She

Reasons Behind On Board Diagnostics
On board diagnostics is an incredible achievement for technology in today s society.
The purpose of the On Board Diagnostics connection is for emissions testing. One
application available to consumers is the scan tool or code reader. These devices
are sometimes battery powered, but newer units may be powered by the electricity
provided by the on board diagnostic connection itself. When a Check Engine light is
present, these handheld devices connect to the on board diagnostic port and record
and display any trouble code that the vehicle is sending. People can use the code to
see what s wrong with the car and once the problem has been fixed they can clear the
code from the vehicle s memory, deactivating the Check Engine light until the next

Primera Division because the best of the best play in this division. As well this is
where most of the fuel to the fire is, especially with the rivalry between Real Madrid
and Barcelona. The game becomes much more intense when these two teams are even
mentioned.
In order to grasp a full understanding of the phenomenon with Spanish futbol and La
Liga we need to have some back ground knowledge of how it came to be. A man by
the name of Jose Maria Acha first proposed the idea of Spain having a national
futbol team. After much debate of how many teams there were going to be in La
Liga, they came to the agreement that there would be ten, and in 1929 the Primera
Division was established. La Primera Liga is like royalty in futbol, they are the
best of the best futbolistas, and not anyone can be a part of this division. The
success of La Liga is all due to the biggest rivals in soccer history, Real Madrid and
F.C. Barcelona who are basically the biggest and most successful teams in La
Primera Division. Both these teams were founding members and have never been de
ranked to Segunda Division. Due to the fact that these teams have been at war for
over eighty years shows us that the spirit of futbol has been

Nuclear Weapons Essay
Exam 3 Nuclear weapons play a significant role in our understanding of international
relations. As seen in the class lecture slides, states often embark on nuclear weapons
programs to counterbalance the power of other states. This is particularly true for
states such as China and Iran, who are trying to balance the power of the United States
. States such as China, Russia, and the United States are all powerful international
influences. This is partially due to the fact that they are a part of the United Nations
Security Council and own nuclear weapons. If they did not have nuclear weapons, it
is hard to gauge if they would be as powerful world leaders in militaristic terms if
they did not have nuclear weapons. These nuclear weapons act... Show more content

is what allows for some states to have nuclear weapons. Other states, such as
developing nations also do not have the funds or technology to create nuclear
weapons. Personally, I cannot envision a world with without nuclear weapons.
However, I can imagine a world with many more states with nuclear weapons. I think
that that is a much more feasible future due to the actions of our past. I support states
sharing the technology to create nuclear weapons, so that each state is on a level
playing field. If the states that do not have nuclear weapons (or the technology to
create them) were hit, they would be devastated with little to no way to retaliate. If
the technology was shared, nuclear weapons could act more offensively, in the
manner that states would not launch them knowing that once they did they would be
hit right back. Nuclear weapons play a significant role in our understanding of
international relations. They are the weapons that shape the most powerful
governments in the world. These weapons act most often offensively because they are

Apparently, as a first year nursing student, I have not sufficiently developed my

Cultural criticism considers a variety of perspectives and branches of knowledge to

. . (304). The pervasive fear during this time in history regarding the falling birth
rates was heavily reflected in The Handmaid s Tale. Atwood depicts the
punishment given to those who engaged in activities such as abortions throughout
her novel. For a women in Gilead, more specifically a handmaid, not to reproduce
was taboo. This society placed a heavy emphasis on procreation due to the fear of
declining birthrates previously mentioned. Overall, Atwood wrote a book
regarding the controversial subject, women and fertility, in the 1980s because of
its intense cultural relevance at the time. One of the theories to which cultural
criticism is linked is Marxism. Marxism was an ideology created by Karl Marx
that focuses on struggles between social classes. This theory questions topics such
as economics, social classes and the conflict that occurs between them, and
oppression (including how it is overcome). Although Marxism is traditionally
associated with an economic division between classes, The Handmaid s Tale entails
more of a social division because of the economy in Gilead. One aspect of this
economy is that there is not a true monetary system in Gilead; instead, the people use
coupons. The social classes are not divided by conventional criteria such as income,
but are divided by gender. The men retain the highest, most powerful ranks in society.
Gender Stereotypes In The Film Sorry
For colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf express
feelings from seven different women and the pain that they go through. These
women with each other formed a bond through their different suffering taking them
from strangers to associate.Women experience a lot of animosity throughout their
lives. From being lied to, raped, beaten, let down just hurt just because. This movie
gave a vigorous slight of family life and they were many families illustrates in this
movie. They have two poems that I really enjoy reading the first is Sorry .This is a
poem that women can compare their self to and see that they are disgusted with
excuses and lies. The women deals with very different ways which men let them
down and then apologize in tons of empty disappointing ways .In this poem the
women come together to speak out for the men making excuses for bad behavior
and they are just tired of it. They are sick of apologies and don t want them
anymore. The other one that stand out to me was Somebody almost walked off
wid alla my stuff .This stood out because the women enjoys her flaws and calls her
old one as in ex to give her back pieces of her that was taken away. She takes in

It gives out a strong message saying how women in general are tired of men
coming in and out their life with excuses. Saying how if they have an excuse
everything is going to be good and it s ok for them to do that over and over again
.The men walks away while the women are left to bear the scars. Between these two
poems the women says that they are no longer willing to sacrifice stuff for men who
don t deserve it at all. Both of the poems have found power by overcoming their own
struggle in their relationships. Their self respect doesn t depend on men sorry s
anymore they want to face the unforgotten truth than hurt under flimsy
The Civil Rights Movement Of African Americans
Civil rights are the rights that every person should have no matter their sex,
religion, or race. These were deprived to African Americans for hundreds of years,
long before the civil rights movement of the 1960s. African Americans were slaves
from the 1500s until the 1860s when the Civil War happened. After the slaves were
freed, there was still a lot of segregation and racismthroughout the U.S., especially
in the South. The government put into place Jim Crow Laws, which were strict
segregation laws that would punish people who associated with people of another
race, if the law forbade them to do so. They also used poll taxes, literacy tests, and
other things of the like to prevent African Americans from voting. White
supremacist groups like the Ku Klux Klan, or rather known as the KKK, would
perform violent acts to minorities. They would bomb, carry out beatings and
shootings and set fires to blacks homes. Some African Americans were fed up with
this bad treatment and started protests in the 1950s. In 1954, there was a Supreme
Court case Brown v. Board of Education where there was a unanimous vote that
segregation in public schools was unconstitutional and it overturned Plessy v.
Ferguson where the court said people of different race were separate but equal.
Thurgood Marshall was the attorney in that case and later on he became the first
African AmericanSupreme Court judge. In 1955, Rosa Parks, an African American
woman, born on February 14, 1913 in

If ABB is able to convert Customer 35 from Edison to its customer base, the
conversion would expand ABB s total annual revenue in the three Districts by over

companies equals eighteen). The results of the ABB District analysis and the

Moonlight Film Analysis
It s more than difficult living in a drug plagued, impoverished community. These
places are often ignored, but shouldn t be forgotten in any capacity. The film
Moonlight, directed by Barry Jenkins, is meant to demonstrate the hardships of living
in a difficult community. Thematically, it highlights the already difficult nature of
being black and poor in modern America, while simultaneously showing the
hardship of also being gay in said tough community. The film is comprised into three
acts surrounding the development of the protagonist, Chiron (in order of acts: Alex
R. Hibbert, Ashton Sanders, and Trevant Rhodes). Following him as he struggles
with his own sexuality. Consequentially, each act circles back to Chiron at a local
beach, which for him, is a safe haven in a typically hostile place. This beach signifies
both hope for the marginalized, while commenting on the unjust reality many
Americans face daily. Essentially zooming in on what it means to be black, poor, and
gay in America.
In act one of Moonlight the protagonist, Chiron, is a child growing up in an
impoverished community with many obstacles in his way. It seems as if all odds
are stacked against him, however, after an encounter with a drug dealer named
Juan (Mahershala Ali), his life finds a bit of meaning. One day Juan takes Chiron
to the beach, a place that seemed foreign to young Chiron. Nevertheless, he
embraced the water learning how to swim in the process. The use of both sound
and mise ГЁn scene here introduces the idea that the beach is Chiron s safe space
in his otherwise calamitous life. For instance, as soon as the scene commences, the
sound design increases and the music score changes to an uplifting classical song.
The way in which Chiron is addressed by Juan is also kind and empowering. The
blocking is also essential in this scene. At first, when Chiron is swimming, Juan is
holding on to him as he struggles to keep his head above the water. Eventually,
Chiron figures out how swim on his own, a powerful message captured in a short
period of time. The music puts the viewer in a state of relaxation, knowing Chiron has
nothing to worry about in this moment. This is also only the second time in the film
where music is used, solidifying
Just in Time Distribution
Just In Time Distribution and Barilla SpA
Anybody who knows something about business had heard the term Just in time (JIT)
inventory. It involves producing only what is need, when it is needed. The principle
of Just in time is to eliminate sources of manufacturing waste by getting the right
quantity of raw materials and producing the right quantity of products in the right
place at the right time.(1) In this way, manufactures receive parts and materials just in
time to meet the day s manufacturing quota with hardly any extra.(3) JIT is a
manufacturing management method developed in Japan during the 70 s to meet
customer demands. The individual most credited with the development of JIT is
Taiichi Ohno, the vice president of Toyota... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Barilla revolutionalized the Italian pasta industry s marketing practices by creating a
strong brand name and image for its pasta and by 1968 hit double digits in sales
growth. Due to their size and amount of products, Barilla was organized into seven
divisions: three pasta divisions, a bakery products division, the fresh bread
division, the catering division, and the international division. By 1990, Barilla
became the largest pasta manufacture in the world (which it sill is today).(4)
Barilla SpA had a couple different channels of distribution.( Illustration shown on
last page of report.) First of all, Barilla divided it entire product line into two
general categories: 1.)Fresh products, which included fresh pasta products that had
a 21 day shelf life and fresh bread that had a one day shelf life and 2.)Dry products,
which included dry pasta that had long shelf life of 18 to 24 months and longer
shelf life bakery products such as cookies, flour, etc. that had a medium shelf life of
10 to 12 weeks. Most of Barilla s products were shipped from the plants in which they
were made to one of two central distributions centers, the Northern CDC or the
Southern CDC. Other fresh products were moved quickly through the distribution
system in which only three days of fresh product inventory and a month s worth of
dry product inventory was held in each CDC. Barilla
Sensory Room Experience Paper
One day early into my internship with Eagle Village the counselor Misty and I was
discussing residents and their sensory needs. She showed me the sensory room
located on Eagle Village campus what is filled with all different objects for sensory.
Objects ranging from foam roller, lava lamps, message chairs, stability balls, board
scooters, fidgets, body socks and putty. The majority of these objects and devices are
not located at the resident houses. Although the roomis a fantastic resource it does
have some limitations, such as, only one group or resident may be in there at a time
and all residents in the sensory room must be with staff. In addition, not all the staff
has the key to the sensory room, only the house supervisors, counselors, and higher
up administration. The sensory room must be scheduled in advance to hold your
spot. With these laminations, not just any staff can take a resident who may be
having a dilemma or a hard time in the room at any time. Therefore, Misty and I were
discussing that the residents need a more reliable sensory outlet and tools then just
the sensory room. They need... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For future additions to this program, I would love to see them get funds to provide
sensory boxes for each child with objects such as stress ball, something squish or
rough, something with a small, fidget games, or depending on their level in
program gum or food. I would also like to see more cards added to the resident s key
rings. I limited each one to 10 12 to get started with because I did not want to
overwhelm them with choices. In addition, the choices I gave them were based on
what is available at Eagle Village. Therefore, I would like to see more cards added for
the resident either just before they leave or when they leave so they can have more

Job Opportunities For College Graduates
Human beings are never satisfied by their desires. We always want more: better
paying jobs and better quality of life. We think only of our self even though we are
part of the society. Many university graduates from Louisiana migrate to other state
for better paying jobs however, I can best live my life in Louisiana, which has huge
potentials to make life better.
There are many job opportunities for college graduates in Louisiana but
unfortunately many college graduates are unable explore them properly. Bobby
Jindal, governor of Louisiana says, We still have 90000 vacant jobs in Louisiana
in an online newspaper. (James Gill). Louisiana is one of the fastest growing state
for high tech industries and the state government is also expecting to add 400,000
more jobs between 2010 to 2020(Advocate). General census data from any source
shows that Louisiana has low average wage, however, census data are not always
accurate and reliable. There are many industrial facilities if we drive along the
Mississippi River from north of Baton Rouge to Pointe a La Hache. Also the state
has places like Acadiana and Lake Charles areas which have rich oil, gas and
agricultural fields. Moreover the wildlife and fisheries opportunities in Louisiana is
worth mentioning. All of those genres offer fabulous careers for young people who
would be engineers, chemists, managers, accountants, CEO s and all the other trickle
down jobs those create (Comment). If college graduates work in the state just
Burberry
The political situation in china is such that there was existed communism where the
administration activities control over everything (Shafiq, 2008). There is an outlook
that anybody working in china work for the country and the legislature of china. The
legislature in China has given a board approach to the extravagance merchandise
industry.
(Ban, 2011). Since the legislature in china is abusive, there could be a ton of distress
in china and this can act like one of the dangers for Burberry to work in china. It
might be contended that part of strength in china is because of the way that the
subjects don t have any contribution in government s say (Bloom, 2011). In the

Social and Culture:
Socio culture factors speak to the society of the general public that an association
works inside. They may incorporate demographics, age conveyance, populace
development rates, level of training, appropriation of riches and social classes, living
conditions and lifestyle. (Worthington and Britton, 2006)
With the change of living principles and the higher quest for material, more
individuals in China started to purchase extravagance for vanity (China hands, 2014).
Extravagance is seen as an image of societal position, and individuals want to buy
them for fulfilling their own particular vanity. This is a utilitarian age.
Regarding social culture elements, the society is not the same all through the entire
nation; the west has a tendency to gain 2.26 times more than specialists in the west of
the nation. Thusly areas of the organization s stores would be the key. (Grant, 2008)
It might be contended that demographic of china is such that there are numerous

How People Respond To Conflicts
Conflict and how people respond to it are what make us human. Throughout history
we see many ways different individuals reacted to conflict. Strength is one of the best
ways to respond to conflict.
Malala was a young girl that fought for the education of young women in third world
countries. Malala used strength and bravery to rebel against the Talibans and fight for
an education. Even after being shot, the young woman still fought for the knowledge
and education for all girls. According to the book I Am Malala, after she recovered
from being shot, she went back to advocating for women s rights to an education.
This shows how she remained strong after serious conflict.
Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who was oppressed by the Nazis along
Comparing Glasser s Getting Together And Staying Together
This article tells you what to do in your relationships to replace the destructive habits
with more healthy ones. Dr. William Glasser in his book, Getting Together and
Staying Together, writes about the Caring Relationship Habits of listening, trusting,
supporting, encouraging, respecting, accepting and negotiating differences. These are
not as simple as they sound. This month we will look at the first four and I will
follow up in December with the final three.
Listening is the first one because I think it is a great place to start. You may already
think you listen and perhaps you do but the level of listening I am speaking of relates
to not just hearing your partner, but truly trying to understand where he or she is
coming from. You are listening for understanding. You wantto know how it is they
see things the way they do. You may not agree with their perception but you want to
try to at least understand it from where they come from, in their shoes and in their
skin.
Trusting is the next habit. Many of us come into ... Show more content on

I once worked with a couple who had vastly different vocational interests he was a

family. In the winter heated his home with a wood stove, for which he chopped

proud of the websites she designed for a wide variety of businesses. She would
often call him to the computer to see what she had done and he would respond with
a very disinterested, That s nice, dear. He, in turn, would call her to their basement
to see the great woodpile he had stacked, and she would be annoyed to have to go
downstairs to look at a bunch of wood. Neither were supporting the other. When you
are supportive you recognize your partner s accomplishments and support him or her

  • 2. Sweat By Hurston Analysis Hurston found herself heavily ridiculed for her methods of writing Sweat because people claimed that she was writing in a way that brought African Americans down to fit into standard racial stereotypes instead of bringing them up to be equals with whites. In reality, Sweat conveys the true lives of many African Americanwomen of the 1900 s but this is more of a feminist story than a racial story through the empowerment of Delia by having a strong economic power over Sykes. She built her home for her old days and she poured her sweat and work into it. Even the people in the town recognized that she was a hard worker and deserved more than what Sykes was giving her. The town folks reveal that she used to be a beautiful womanbut Sykes had

First and for most they have to adequately and fairly address complaints made by members of the community. The police have to provide the same service to minority communities as they would provide a predominately white community. The effect of providing good service could mean that the community will slowly build their trust with police officers. In the long run this will reduce tensions and build trust between the two groups. By building trust the policeknow they can count on the community when it comes to crime prevention. Reducing the publics fear of crime translates to increased cooperation between
  • 6. Different Methods Of Communicating Between Cells And Humans As multicellular organisms became more complex they required a method of communication between cells. Over time several methods of cell cell communication developed. There are two main methods of communicating between cells in humans. One is a humoral method that usually involves hormones or other ligands (molecules that bind to larger molecules) that are released into the blood stream and then cause a response in the target cell. The other method is by using nerve cells an electrical signal is transferred across a large distance and will then result in a response. Hormones are proteins whose structure is shaped in order to interact with a cells surface membrane. They are specific to cell surface receptors and will only trigger a change in cell that has a particular receptor. Because of this the body can communicate with certain types of call selectively as it can produce a hormone specific to the receptors on that cell group. This is an advantage to a human as it is a complex organism and as a result many types of cell that require coordinating in different ways. Therefore having different hormones for different signals helps to avoid disorientation of the cells making the organism more efficient. Hormones are usually produced in a specific type of cell or gland. For example the hormone insulin is only produced in Beta cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas, the hormone travels into the blood stream through the capillary network where it s distributed across the
  • 7. John Updike’s A P, Richard Wrightв Ђ™s The Man Who Was... John Updike s A P, Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost a Man, and James Joyce s Araby Stories about youth and the transition from that stage of life into adulthood form a very solidly populated segment of literature. In three such stories, John Updike s A P, Richard Wright s The Man Who Was Almost a Man, and James Joyces Araby , young men face their transitions into adulthood. Each of these boys faces a different element of youth that requires a fundamental shift in their attitudes. Sammy, in A P , must make a moral decision about his associations with adult institutions that mistreat others. Dave, in The Man Who Was Almost a Man, struggles with the idea that what defines a man is physical power. The narrator of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sammy, however, surprises us, just like the story does. His immediate infatuation with the girls and everything they represented (the youth he was quickly denying himself by being tied at such a young age to the very adult world of work) quickly brought him to realize that his life was still that of a young person. What he thinks is an act of bravery, which will certainly be awarded with the attentions of Queenie , turns out to be a solo act of personal assertion. Just when Sammie thinks his life is ending, it is truly just beginning. Richard Wright s story, The Man Who Was Almost a Man , is also a story of a youthful ignorance of the actual complexities of the world. To Dave, the main character of the story, getting a gun will make all the difference in his becoming a man, musing Shucks, a man oughta hava little gun aftah he done worked hard all day.... (923) Just as the youth of the girls in A P, are the central symbol of that story, the gun is the central literary symbol of Wright s. With a gun in his hand, Dave is convinced that his fears will disappear, that he will become powerful and honored. Just as Updike demonstrates with Sammy, Wright shows us that Dave is both naГЇve and misguided. From the first, Dave demonstrates his childishness in his very strategy to get the gun. He speculates, sounding quite immature, that his mother will give him a gun. He is subsequently childish in his handling, or mishandling, of the old revolver. As he
  • 8. Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Vehicle Breathalyzers Mandatory vehicle breathalyzers What if a person s car would not start if there was alcohol detected in the bloodstream anytime they tried to drive? Vehicle breathalyzers make this a reality. Ignition interlocks installed in cars measure alcohol on the driver s breath. Interlocks keep the car from starting if the driver has a BAC above a certain level, usually 0.02%. They re used for people convicted of drunk driving and are highly effective at preventing repeat offenses while installed. Mandating interlocks for all offenders, including first time offenders, will have the greatest impact. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 1) Driving is a privilege, not a right. • 9. The Media as Conduit for Political Propaganda Essay The Media as Conduit for Political Propaganda According to the latest polls, 90% of Americans favor military retaliation for the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Taking into consideration that all aggregate data is used for self serving means, this number is still exceptionally large. The numbers are manufactured by propaganda vehicles, or rather the mainstream media. In a sort of Orwellian fashion, the media bombards the audience with images, voices, and memoirs of death, grief, and pain that pervert their way into public consciousness, creating a sort of group think. In the essay Propaganda, American style, Noam Chomsky writes: In totalitarian societies, propaganda doesn t really try to control your thoughts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such is the nature of the democratic beast. This concept of manufactured consent , a term coined by American journalist Walter Lippman, should come as no surprise considering that the media is a vehicle and a product of capitalism. The metaphor of money equals power has a large stake in the operations of the media. The news stations, newspapers, and radio stations are all controlled by a powerful elite; yet, the media themselves are huge profit seeking corporations. They are integrated into the market, and are thus subject to criticism and control by their stockholders. The stockholders want the bottom line, or in other words, what they want to hear. Money and power are the means through which the news is filtered, dissent is squelched, and political agenda is satisfied. In Noam Chomsky s work Manufacturing Consent, the relationship between objectivity and the media is explained. The elite domination of the media and marginalization of dissidents that results from the operation of these filters occurs so naturally that media news people, frequently operating with complete integrity and goodwill, are able to convince themselves that they choose and interpret the news objectively and on the basis of professional news values. This concept of objectivity is unable to exist in a nation so reliant on systematic bias. The symbiotic relationship between the media and the powerful elite makes it difficult for a reporter to cut of ties with those who

The narrator was disturbed with the thought of having Robert in his home, especially since he is a stranger to the narrator. The narrator believes in the falsifications of blind people from the movies and therefore, judges the blind man (1) prior to his arrival. His judgment shows that he thinks of Robert on a highly shallow level, which demonstrates, similar to all his other negative characteristics, that he doesn t experience the depth of reality. When Robert actually arrives, the narratorfeels awkward and hardly speaks with him, as he doesn t know what to have a conversation about. When he does speak up, however, he asks questions and discusses statements that one would have the decency not to discuss with the disabled. The narrators personality consists of ignorance and immaturity that portrays his lack of empathy as he suggests activities like going bowling (3). This article addresses the question whether, in light of the potential implications for energy markets, the proposed changes to financial legislation will have the effects the European Commission desires. L. Nijman / Energy Policy 47 (2012) 468 477 469 This question derives its relevance from three aspects. First, the academic literature has generally focussed on the appropriate regulatory design for specific markets, for instance in relation to the liberalization of European energy markets or the stability of financial markets. As also noted by Diaz Rainey et al. (2011), little research has been done regarding cross market effects of financial regulation on energy markets. Now that the line between the traditional financial and energy markets has become blurred, the link between the two deserves more attention. Second, it may prove useful not just to point out which aspects of energy trading may come under financial regulation, but to take the analysis one step further and examine how participants in the energy markets are likely to react to the incentives this new legislation offers them. The success of regulation hinges on how market participants adapt their behaviour to it, not just the substance of the legislation itself. Third, to the extent that these proposals are motivated by electoral calls for a strong response to financial instability and

Albert Bandura was affectionately described as the jovial genius by one of his former students for his wisdom, humility, and wonderful sense of humor. Albert Bandura believed that social learningformed the basis for personality development (Bandura, 1977). Bandura s theory is perceived to be an internal reward , such examples include pride, satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment (Social Learning Theory: Understanding Bandura s Theory of Learning, n.d.). It is evident that internal thoughts and cognitions help connect learning theories with cognitive developmental theories. Bandura suggested that his concept surrounding the social learning theory could be considered a social cognitive theory (Social Learning Theory: Understanding Bandura s Theory of Learning, n.d.). Albert Bandura once said that, learning would be exceedingly laborious, not to mention hazardous, if people had to rely solely on the effects of their own actions to inform them what to do (Bandura, 1977). His theory integrates a continuous interaction between the environment, our own behaviors, and our psychological processes. To understand observational learning, Bandura and his colleagues researched observational learning. This provided considerable guidance for teachers who are interested in instructional modeling and teaching by demonstration. Note that the root meaning of the word

The very first example of this dehumanization from the get go would be how they were moved into the ghettos. Just that first act started the long chain of events leading to their doom. It made them caged, as an animal is. The ghetto was ruled by neither German nor Jew; it was ruled by delusion (Wiesel 12). They tricked themselves into thinking they were free. Which obviously was not the case. A sunny spring day, people strolled seemingly carefree through the crowded streets. They exchanged cheerful greetings. Children played games, rolling hazelnuts on the sidewalks (Wiesel 12). They begun to feel normal and safe again, while they should have had more concerns. The ghetto was to be liquidated entirely. Departures were to take place street by street, starting the next day (Wiesel 13). Days later after they felt safe again, they would be taken to the camps, to be worked to death. They were dehumanized from that

As well this is where most of the fuel to the fire is, especially with the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The game becomes much more intense when these two teams are even mentioned. In order to grasp a full understanding of the phenomenon with Spanish futbol and La Liga we need to have some back ground knowledge of how it came to be. A man by the name of Jose Maria Acha first proposed the idea of Spain having a national futbol team. After much debate of how many teams there were going to be in La Liga, they came to the agreement that there would be ten, and in 1929 the Primera Division was established. La Primera Liga is like royalty in futbol, they are the best of the best futbolistas, and not anyone can be a part of this division. The success of La Liga is all due to the biggest rivals in soccer history, Real Madrid and F.C. Barcelona who are basically the biggest and most successful teams in La Primera Division. Both these teams were founding members and have never been de ranked to Segunda Division. Due to the fact that these teams have been at war for over eighty years shows us that the spirit of futbol has been

As seen in the class lecture slides, states often embark on nuclear weapons programs to counterbalance the power of other states. This is particularly true for states such as China and Iran, who are trying to balance the power of the United States . States such as China, Russia, and the United States are all powerful international influences. This is partially due to the fact that they are a part of the United Nations Security Council and own nuclear weapons. However, I can imagine a world with many more states with nuclear weapons. I think that that is a much more feasible future due to the actions of our past. I support states sharing the technology to create nuclear weapons, so that each state is on a level playing field. If the states that do not have nuclear weapons (or the technology to create them) were hit, they would be devastated with little to no way to retaliate. If the technology was shared, nuclear weapons could act more offensively, in the manner that states would not launch them knowing that once they did they would be hit right back. The pervasive fear during this time in history regarding the falling birth rates was heavily reflected in The Handmaid s Tale. Atwood depicts the punishment given to those who engaged in activities such as abortions throughout her novel. For a women in Gilead, more specifically a handmaid, not to reproduce was taboo. This society placed a heavy emphasis on procreation due to the fear of declining birthrates previously mentioned. Overall, Atwood wrote a book regarding the controversial subject, women and fertility, in the 1980s because of its intense cultural relevance at the time. One of the theories to which cultural criticism is linked is Marxism. Marxism was an ideology created by Karl Marx that focuses on struggles between social classes. This theory questions topics such as economics, social classes and the conflict that occurs between them, and oppression (including how it is overcome). Although Marxism is traditionally associated with an economic division between classes, The Handmaid s Tale entails more of a social division because of the economy in Gilead. One aspect of this economy is that there is not a true monetary system in Gilead; instead, the people use coupons. The social classes are not divided by conventional criteria such as income, but are divided by gender. The men retain the highest, most powerful ranks in society.

These were deprived to African Americans for hundreds of years, long before the civil rights movement of the 1960s. African Americans were slaves from the 1500s until the 1860s when the Civil War happened. After the slaves were freed, there was still a lot of segregation and racismthroughout the U.S., especially in the South. The government put into place Jim Crow Laws, which were strict segregation laws that would punish people who associated with people of another race, if the law forbade them to do so. They also used poll taxes, literacy tests, and other things of the like to prevent African Americans from voting. White supremacist groups like the Ku Klux Klan, or rather known as the KKK, would perform violent acts to minorities. They would bomb, carry out beatings and shootings and set fires to blacks homes. Some African Americans were fed up with this bad treatment and started protests in the 1950s. In 1954, there was a Supreme Court case Brown v. The film Moonlight, directed by Barry Jenkins, is meant to demonstrate the hardships of living in a difficult community. Thematically, it highlights the already difficult nature of being black and poor in modern America, while simultaneously showing the hardship of also being gay in said tough community. The film is comprised into three acts surrounding the development of the protagonist, Chiron (in order of acts: Alex R. Hibbert, Ashton Sanders, and Trevant Rhodes). Following him as he struggles with his own sexuality. Consequentially, each act circles back to Chiron at a local beach, which for him, is a safe haven in a typically hostile place. This beach signifies both hope for the marginalized, while commenting on the unjust reality many Americans face daily. Essentially zooming in on what it means to be black, poor, and gay in America. In act one of Moonlight the protagonist, Chiron, is a child growing up in an impoverished community with many obstacles in his way. It seems as if all odds are stacked against him, however, after an encounter with a drug dealer named Juan (Mahershala Ali), his life finds a bit of meaning. One day Juan takes Chiron to the beach, a place that seemed foreign to young Chiron. Nevertheless, he embraced the water learning how to swim in the process. The use of both sound and mise ГЁn scene here introduces the idea that the beach is Chiron s safe space in his otherwise calamitous life. For instance, as soon as the scene commences, the sound design increases and the music score changes to an uplifting classical song. The way in which Chiron is addressed by Juan is also kind and empowering. The blocking is also essential in this scene. At first, when Chiron is swimming, Juan is holding on to him as he struggles to keep his head above the water. Eventually, Chiron figures out how swim on his own, a powerful message captured in a short period of time. The music puts the viewer in a state of relaxation, knowing Chiron has nothing to worry about in this moment. This is also only the second time in the film where music is used, solidifying
