Definition
Globalization is the
integration of different
world views, cultures,
values, ideas, beliefs,
technologies, standards,
and ways of life.
Importance
Globalization is important in education
because it teaches the students different ways
of life, different ways of thinking, and ideas
that they may have never heard before.
Globalization helps students learn new
concepts, cultures, and beliefs that will help
them to become diverse in these areas. It will
also help them to be more accepting of others
and more open to changes and ideas later in
life.
How It Applies to 21st Century
Education
Globalization can be used to education
students by:
• Teaching how to be “Global Citizens”
• Learning to respect and value diversity
• Being a part if an interdependent community
Examples
 Creating a simulated United Nations where
each student represents a different country in
the United Nations
By creating a simulated United Nations every
student would be assigned a different country of
their choosing. One they had never heard about.
They will do specific research on that countries
flag and what it represents. After each student
has gathered their information they will create a
poster using PowerPoint an online poster and each
student will present what the flag looks like and
what it represents to the class.
Role of Technology
Globalization is dependent on communication
technology, and communication technology is in
turn dependent on globalization.
Skype/Facetime
Podcasts
In education that means being able to be connected
with each other in an instant.
