Abstract of Lesson:
For my lesson I have created several different uses of technology that can help me
create the best lesson plan I can. I have broke down some common transportation
methods into decades 1903-2003 which was a very progress set of years in which
transportation and innovation sky rocketed. I broke the years into 5 different sets of
years that which on each day we focused on one method of transportation what it was
like back then, some influential people and seeing we still use it today. Each day of the
week we did new things using technology to discover transportation and how its
evolved.
Monday ASSURE:
State Objective- Monday students will describe the two men who had the biggest impact
in aviation and innovation of airplanes. They will watch a short youtube video that will
give them a timeline of the men and what they accomplished in their time. After
watching the video as a class we will construct how to make a paper airplane as well.
They will create their very own VOKI which will have very few words that captured their
attention from the video. Next students will create their very own QR and link it their
VOKI and present it to the class. Last they will read about a blog that has an opinion
about the two great influential men and have a discussion in a group about them. They
will know about these two men with 95% accuracy in one day.
Select Methods, Media and Material- The youtube video we will be watching in class will
be made by the teacher and will be pre-approved. It will show the impact they had on
airplanes and their lifetime. Making the paper airplanes we will stray aside from
technology and use what we have using paper. The VOKI is a fun way to keep the
students interested and let them create their own kind of character and voice however
they please but most be appropriate. QR’s will be very helpful tools in having the links
built in them instead of typing the long URL’s which students tend to mess up. Last the
blog will indicate using opinion and diversity because everyone has their own opinion
and they will all be pre-approved as well.
Utilize Media and Materials- Since we have full access to the internet we will be in and
out of the lab a lot. In looking for the youtube videos the links will be given and written
on the board, all students must only use youtube for educational purposes and must all
be watching the same video at the same time. Students love using youtube and like
watching the videos more than listening to a teacher talk. The video will be on the main
focus of today. We will go back into the classroom and prepare our materials for making
paper airplanes which is just regular computer paper after doing the online projects.
Students will watch me demonstrate how to make one and use there knowledge of
previous making to do this project. The VOKI website and instructions will be given and
it is a fast and simple task that we will complete after the video which will be fun and
individualized. Then the students will be introduced to QR’s which are very helpful tools
and can use in everyday projects for more than just this. The blogs will be shown on my
computer and put up on the screen with there monitors off to focus on just this one task.
Require Learner Participation- The students will be doing there own projects on the
internet with access from the school. The youtube video and the blogs will be the only
structured assignments. The VOKI and QR are intended for their individual participation.
Each VOKI will be designed by a character they want and they will make the one they
chose to but will include information that they had received from watching the youtube
video and will input the sentence or some kind of phrase that most stood out to them
from the video. The QR will be linked a picture to their VOKI so they have fast and easy
connection to it. Each VOKI and QR will be saved to their documents and later put
together. The blog will be pulled up by the teacher and the students with monitors off will
listen and read along to what someone had blogged about the topic. The blog is to show
that everyone has a different opinion of every aspect of every topic. It will be more of a
listening assignment and have a discussion. After we finish our projects online and save
our materials we will go to the classroom and prepare to make our airplanes. The
students are given computer paper to draw and design any kind of airplane they would
like and as a class we will go through the steps in order to make a paper airplane. They
will be allowed to save the planes or dispose of them.
Evaluate and Revise- Once we have finished watching the youtube video and
completed our VOKI and QR’s we will all place them on the main projector and each
student will come up and present their own master pieces. It is a short process and
helps students learn about their classmates. I will grade their presentation on actually
doing the assignment, doing it right, linking the QR to the VOKI and them having their
own twist and individualism on their assignments. After reading the blogs and during the
discussion each student will share one thought they had on the blog with a group of
their peers and I will walk around and listen to each group so they are on task having an
educated conversation. The paper airplanes every student will do and make some kind
of design or picture on their planes and we will fly them outside. They will be evaluated
on their participation of the whole class of the day to see that they know how to use this
technology and put some creativity into it.

They will be allowed to save the planes or dispose of them. Evaluate and Revise- Once we have finished watching the youtube video and completed our VOKI and QR’s we will all place them on the main projector and each student will come up and present their own master pieces. It is a short process and helps students learn about their classmates. I will grade their presentation on actually doing the assignment, doing it right, linking the QR to the VOKI and them having their own twist and individualism on their assignments. After reading the blogs and during the discussion each student will share one thought they had on the blog with a group of their peers and I will walk around and listen to each group so they are on task having an educated conversation. The paper airplanes every student will do and make some kind of design or picture on their planes and we will fly them outside. They will be evaluated on their participation of the whole class of the day to see that they know how to use this technology and put some creativity into it.
