GLOBAL WARMING
• Global warming is the increase in the average
temperature of the earth’s atmosphere as an
increased amount of the energy (heat) striking
the earth from the sun is being trapped in the
atmosphere and not radiated out into space.
• The terms global warming and climate
change are often used interchangeably.
FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR
GLOBAL WARMING
There are many factors responsible for Global
Warming. Some of the factors are as follows:
1)Greenhouse gases
2)CFC’s (Chlorofluorocarbons)
3) Deforestation
4)Pollution
5)Overexploitation of resources
6)Urbanization
7)Carbon dioxide
HUMAN CAUSES
• Carbon dioxide (CO2) exhaust from cars and
power plants
• Methane gas from wastes
• Cutting down of forests and trees
(Deforestation)
• Burning fossil fuels
NATURAL CAUSES
• Release of methane gas from arctic
tundra and wetlands
• Going of Earth through a cycle of climate
change which lasts about 40,000 years
Diseases
1)Malaria
2)Dengue fever
3)Yellow fever
4)Cholera
EFFECTS OF GLOBAL
WARMING
 Negative:
1) Causes the sea level to rise
2) Severe storms
3) Droughts
4) Famine
5) Destruction of species
6) Flood
 Positive:
1) Make plants grow faster
2) Crops production increases
CONSEQUENCES OF GLOBAL
WARMING
1) Catastrophic weather such as hurricanes
will increase
2) Melting polar icecaps will raise ocean
levels
3) Heat waves , droughts, and wildfires will
be more frequent
4) More than a million species worldwide
could be extinct
5) Global sea levels could rise, devastating
coastal areas worldwide
HARM CAUSED TO HUMANS
The rising temperature of the Earth can cause
serious harm to human beings . This is because
the human body is not capable of coping with
extreme temperatures for long period of time.
Doing so might lead to death.
HARM CAUSED TO FORESTS
Global warming is destroying many huge
forests, many more fires that wipe out
whole forests. This happens because global
warming can make the Earth very hot.
MEASURES ON
CONTROLLING GLOBAL
WARMING
• GOVERNMENT:
1) Set laws to limit the amount of pollutants
produced by factories
2) Develop the skills of using renewable fuels,
e.g. solar energy, wind energy
3) Reduce the pollution produced by fossil fuels
4) Grow more plants- reduce the pollutants e.g.
CO2
MEASURES ON
CONTROLLING GLOBAL
WARMING
• HUMANS:
1)Reduce the use of plastic bags as burning
plastic emit CH4
2)Recycle the resources, e.g. plastic
3)Reduce the use of sprays as CFC’s would be
emitted out
4)Use public transportation instead of private
cars to reduce the pollutants emitted by cars
Let us take care of the
Earth.
It is the only one we have!
